I realize that I seem to be the only person on this blog – at least this week, when my Mississippi friends are on Spring Break – who cares one iota about American Idol, but it is SERIOUS BUSINESS, people.
It may take me a long time to get over the fact that not one – NOT ONE – of my alleged friends commented after my hastily written painstakingly crafted AI post from Tuesday night (Et tu, Bubba? Et tu, Daph?). I am comforted knowing that EK and T-Riels will be back from their internetless vacations by next Tuesday night, and EK can ramble on once more about how wonderful Kevin Corvais is (not).
So I need to know the following: 1) Daph’s evaluation of Daughtry 2) Bubba’s evaluation of McPhever and C) if Merritt and Wendi have watched at all. At least keep me up to speed, because if y’all continue this type of AI abandonment you may have to give up your titles of B/F/F. That’s harsh, I know – but there must be consequences for this type of callous commenting behavior. The Bible tells me so. :-) Sister hasn’t even posted her usual *YAWN* comment with a smiley face so that we’re all perfectly clear that she neither watches nor cares, and while I know the earth won’t quit spinning on its axis, we had a nice little AI tradition in the works.
It’s all just RURNED. RURNED!
Anyhoo, David and I called two of the bottom three (Ace and Lisa), but we missed on the person who was voted out: Melissa McGhee. It’s a fair enough result, I think – she was not long for the Idol world.
And just because I adore them, I wanted to post the clips of Taylor’s and Katharine’s performances, but apparently the copyright police have clamped down on the folks over at You Tube, so there’s yet another reason why every person in America should have a TiVo. Or two.
Love y’all.
BooMama – OUT.

Sorry to disappoint you but I still have not been watching. I actally did see a little scene last night as I was flipping through and one girl must have just gotten kicked off and was about to sing a good-bye song. I don’t know why I don’t watch it, I just don’t.
Beware the Ides of March Boomama.
Sorry, I’m in one of my “bad” places with AI. I hate certain phases of the whole show. This is the phase when I get REALLY angry with Americans. Not that I really loved McGhee but Covais, Pickler, and Bucky have ABSOLUTELY no business still on the stage.
Anywhoo…I really liked McPhee! Didn’t quite get the outfit though.
Was very proud of “your boy” Taylor. I didn’t cringe once while he moved around!
Merritt – I can respect your AI boundaries. It’s like Grey’s Anatomy or CSI for me – the whole world watches it and loves it, but I’ve never seen a single episode. Also, is Liz back in town yet?
Bubba – I agree about Katharine’s outfit. It was, um, interesting. And you know part of the reason why the bad people keep getting pushed through is because of this: http://votefortheworst.com/
I thought Taylor was great. He makes me happy.
We have given up TV for Lent but, I did watch before and I liked David Radford. I love Harry Connick and Micheal Buble so I liked his style of singing and his voice. I just looked at the site and was surprised to find out he’s gone. He was definitely better than some of the ones left. Surprised too that Ace was in the bottom. He seemed to have the whole package. (get your mid out of the gutter if it went there!) Glad that Mandisa is still in it. Lovely voice lovely lady.
Ok, I’m back. First, let me take a moment to redirect to a totally unrelated topic: 16 years (YES, freakin’ 16 YEARS, almost half my life) ago today, I met my wonderful and loving husband. I give thanks to God and the now burned-down Landing (and I don’t mean that in a blasphemous way, really). :)
Had a hectic couple of days. 1) My in-laws came into town yesterday, and my computer happens to share a room with my guest bed; 2) Last night, we went to the MSU/Jacksonville State (just 20 minutes from us) baseball game (Bulldogs are now 13-0 after a 7-4 victory), SO I actually MISSED THE RESULTS SHOW; 3) I’ve actually had to get some work done, because the boys and I are going to Starkville for part of next week for Alabama’s Spring Break, and if I don’t work at this freelancing point in my life, I don’t get paid.
Now, I will actually comment on Idol. Not surprised in the least that Melissa is gone, although I don’t think she was as awful as Simon has made her out to be in past weeks. Was a little surprised, but not shocked, to see Ace and Lisa in the bottom three. I think Lisa comes off to a lot of people as a kind of pre-programmed, a stage doll. Seems like a sweet enough kid and can sing well, but she doesn’t have a magnetic personality. I think Ace might be cheesing some people out. HOWEVER, there is NO WAY Lisa and Ace deserve to go before Kevin and Bucky, just NO WAY. I blame some of this on the people at http://www.votefortheworst.com/. They have picked Kevin Corais as the horrible finalist to keep in as a spoiler, and a lot of Internet geeks march to that beat.
Still loving Mandisa and Chris (in the immortal and wise words of Paris Hilton, “He’s hot.”). Still a fan of Taylor’s (although he DOES remind me of someone’s fun dad).
Whew! All for now.
Sorry, BooMama, I didn’t read your post about http://www.votefortheworst.com before I wrote my post.
BooMama, BTW, you have just GOT to get on the Grey’s Anatomy train!
*Double YAWN* :)
OH, YAY. I feel much joy at the sight of the double yawn.
Daph – I almost posted something earlier about the Bulldogs’ stellar baseball start – the last team who did what they’ve done had a few “minor” players named Will Clark and Rafael Palmiero. Very exciting. We should load up our boys and head over there one Saturday for a baseball game…Alex and G. would have big fun.
The vote for the worst thing is out of control. Do you think Kevin fancies himself popular? Or do you think he knows? Ace definitely cheeses me out. The thrill, as they say, is gone. He just over-works the earnest deal. At least to me.
Did you see what I said about seeing Mandisa sing at the Beth Moore conference back in September? I’m just so tickled now that I’ve finally put those pieces together.
OH, and Daph – Happy Anniversary of When You Met Your Hubby Day! A more perfectly-matched pair there has never been.
Hey Boo! I will try to watch AI for your sake! I know I would like it, but all I can think about is getting the kids to bed so I can get there myself! I hope you feel better!
i’m back!!! don’t think for one minute that i didn’t take my kids food home in a to-go box from Louisiana Langinape to make it to see idol. i had to wrap it up-i am shocked that kevin was not in the bottom 3. ace is over for me. kellie dawn doesn’t like spinach salad. taylor-rocks. chris-fine. mandisa-awesome-like her better now that i know she sang at a Beth Moore conference. katharine-great and really natural and beautiful. paris-sorry but she wears me out!!!. can’t wait for tues. simon was on larry king and he picked chris, taylor and kellie(what?) for his final three. i don’t get kellie-am i the only one??
