The Big Boo Cast, Episode 190

This episode is a real hodge-podge, which might well be our very favorite kind. We talk about corn and laundry detergent and hair ties and Melanie’s pre-Hamilton television concerns.

We also discuss a guasha stone tutorial Melanie recently watched as well as how tired we are of cooking. Because PANDEMIC. And we spend some time breaking it on down in terms of some big ole takeaways from Somebody Feed Phil.

Enjoy, y’all!

  1. Selina Eble says:

After a stressful day at work, I thought I would listen to the podcast on my drive home. As the music started I began to settle in and anticipate another hour of fun convo involving Melanie’s latest beauty finds and to find out how Sophie’s calf is doing. Then during the intro I heard something I thought I would never hear come from Sophie. She said they were going to talk about some porn. After I recovered from swerving out of the road, I thought “surely I didn’t hear that correctly.” I kept listening and praise the Lord I listened because now I have a new CORN recipe. Love you gals!

  2. Becky Burns says:

I was so excited to hear you girls talk about our very favorite show – Somebody Feed Phil. You both put into words so well what I’ve felt about Phil’s beautifully filmed show. He loves people unconditionally! Oh how we need that. I also wanted to share that before this show was picked up by Netflix, PBS aired an earlier version called “I’ll Have What Phil’s Having” (2015) which I found at our library on dvd. Six more cities. Just as good. Love you both!

  3. Melissa Geiger says:

Melanie’s TV issue – if you have a smart tv, you should be able to add an app for Disney+, which you can do in a search bar, but you have to use the remote to “type” each letter at a time. Hopefully Mr. Hudson will be able to make your Hamilton viewing dreams come true!!

QUESTION….does the nike head tie ride up in the back? normal headbands ride up on me…big head/flat head issues!!

  5. Thank you for another 60 minutes of laughs. It’s truly needed in these times.

  6. Thank you for sharing Erin Moon’s Hamilton Spreadsheet! On that note, Joe Posnanski’s Essay on Hamilton & Parenting!!! Oh my word. All the feels and all the tears. Such an unexpected flood of emotions -I wasn’t sure what I was going to read on this sports guy’s blog. Worth the read, without a doubt!

  7. Jennifer Denham says:

A day late & our TVs might not be the same model, but I also have a Hisense TV & I was able to plug a Roku in back behind the TV & it is flat/doesn’t stick out toward the wall. Added Disney+ from the Roku. (Watched Hamilton last night & this HS Chorus teacher would watch again 😊)

  8. Carrie Papay says:

Oh my goodness! I made the corn recipe for my family on the 4th. Gone….not a bite left. Delicious!!!!

  9. I have listened to your show for years. My family and I moved from Texas to Bangkok a year ago (with a 4, 6, and 8 year old), and your show continues to be a joy to me! During some super tough adjustment periods and cultural regressions, I would listen to it and feel right “at home”. Last week, we all had dinner at Jay Fai here in Bangkok and did another floating market, so it was fun to hear you mention them on the show! I’m confident that Melanie would enjoy that crab omelette and the flavors she so much dreads. It is better than you can imagine!
