All of the Glory Revealed winners should be receiving their CD’s sometime early next week. There is one winner, however, who hasn’t contacted me yet; so Devera, if you’re reading this, please send me an email with your mailing address! :-)
No way Gina Glocksen should have gone home on AI last night. And I am embarrassed by how much Sanjaya’s continued presence on the show frustrates me. Which leads me to believe that perhaps I take AI entirely too seriously. Maybe I should’ve given it up for Lent or something.
Are y’all watching Planet Earth on The Discovery Channel? D. is hooked. And I have to admit: it’s really, really good. And it’s about nature, y’all, and I still watch it, even though wild dogs attack caribous and baby penguins poke out of eggs. And I don’t throw up or anything!
This week in Wii news: Alex got his first strikes and his first spares in bowling, and OH MY WORD AT THE SCREAMING. So fun.
Finally, Bloglines – at least on my end – seems to have adopted the philosophy that it may or may not show updates on blogs, and when it does show updates, it may or may not do so in a timely fashion. As best I can tell, Bloglines updates when it feels like it and not a second sooner, with the decision to update determined by 1) if it can be bothered to, like, deal with the bloggy people (GAH!) and 2) whether or not I’m in possession of its favorite brand of chocolate. Is anyone else having trouble?
Okay. I believe that’s all.
All loose ends are now present and accounted for.

I definitely think my family is beginning to take AI too seriously. There was serious wailing and gnashing of teeth in our house last night – it was not pretty! And three of my kids (my girls…who care, unlike my son…who usually falls asleep during the program!) literally sat me down and said, “Why, Mom, oh why is this happening?” They’re still way too young to know the name “Howard Stern” and be told about evil conspiracies like “Vote For the Worst,” so I kept it all in general terms. Some day I’ll have AI to thank for turning my young, idealistic children into cynics. (insert rolling of eyes)
Devera? Oh, um, that’s me…um, yeah…see, I changed my name and all recently, and um, I guess I forgot to um, change it here, and so, um, well, I’m Devera! Kinda… I mean…I AM Devera because of COURSE I would NEVER lie because that is BAD and I am SO not bad, except that well, yes, I AM lying and so I AM bad, and well…TECHNICALLY I’m not Devera, but I COULD be if you WANTED me to be…got all that??
Love the new look! :o)
Bloglines was giving me fits some time ago and everyone was raving about Google Reader, so I decided to try it. It’s working for me so far. You might consider giving it a try.
Whether or not it was Gina’s time to go, that was some serious drama last night!! I hope I wasn’t the only viewer in tears over her having to sing “Smile” after getting the boot. I think it was an even better performance than the one she did Tuesday night.
Your stories of Wii fun have me in envy. (Wii envy? Hmmm… I don’t wanna think of what that sounds like!)
I love your new look, BooMama. Adorable and so you.
I agree about Sanjaya. Honestly, I’m afraid he’s going to make it right to the end and I’ve become so frustrated about him, I can barely stand to see his face.
Switch to Google Reader and your bloglines problem will be gone! =)
Hey, you snooze you lose. Davera has obviously snost and lost, so the only thing to do, really, is send it on over to Tejas.
Snost and lost!! LOLOLOLOL!!!!
First of all…your new look is divine. I love it! Makes me so happy!
Secondly…your embarrassment for your feelings about Sanjaya still being on the show?? You are not alone, sister.
Sanjaya and his white suit just needed to go home. I can’t even think about it or I’ll get all worked up.
And Bloglines may be worse than Sanjaya.
UM. OH MY GOODNESS! My TV has been monopolized with recordings of Planet Earth. My husband is obsessed with it. I turn my nose up at it, but maybe I should watch it, Boo Mama.
I don’t even depend on bloglines. I just click and check the old fashioned way.
And- I love that your new look so cleverly matches the colors in the buttons on the side. Just noticed that.
The Sanjaya thing- sad.
Gina singing Smile on her last night- OH MY GOSH. I actually cried.
Heather did you proud again, S. :-) Your new design just hollers *Sassy!*
I’m not having any more problems with Bloglines than usual, but I did read a notice on there yesterday that some clients are experiencing SOME DIFFICULTIES (for that read excruciating frustration!) but that they hope to have the problems resolved SOON. (For that read maybe, perhaps when Hades freezes over!)
I keep forgetting that Planet Earth is on and I haven’t seen any of them yet. I hope they rerun them. The nerd in me loves anything to do with nature. :-)
Hope you and Sister have a blessed Easter, S.
Bloglines? Blech. Big problems…. I may try Goole Reader.
Sanjaya? Blech Blech, Double Blech. But, We’ve had that convo already.
I’ll take no additional BP meds for $500 BooMama.
hehe.
If I depended on bloglines, I would think you haven’t updated your blog since Saturday March 24 at 1:48am. That’s seriously what mine says. I always just click anyways and most of the time it’s just the little *surprise* of my day – Boomama DID INDEED update, so take that bloglines! I may need to check out the googley one.
Sanjaya Schmanjaya – sick of HIM!
:) ~Steph
I just recently went to Google Reader…it works in a much more timely fashion!
As far as Gina…there are no words!!!!
Can I just catch up on the 99 posts I missed while I was cruisin’ away – all in this one comment box? Planet Earth – I truly considered calling my housesitter and trying to talk her through how to program the Tivo to record the first session, but since I’d already told her our whole TV system is so complicated she should probably just give up TV for the week, I didnt, but soon as we got home I did tell it go search and record every single episode. Sounded fabulous to my nerdy heart. Gina vs Sanjaya (whose name I still cannot spell and I keep hoping he’ll just leave so I can quit struggling with it) – how embarrassing for him to still be around, since the entire audience will literally cheer when he finally leaves, about 10 weeks too late. And Alex’s comment on your singing, made me laugh til I cried – seriously so so funny. Okay, I’m caught up now, except that I also loved the two recipes and may, just may make them for our Easter dinner that I thought we were going out for, but they sound so good I may just have to cook. xoxoox
The new look? Let’s just say it reminded me of the time I dressed up at Halloween and scared my poor daughter who didn’t recognize me. “Look, it really IS Mommy! See. Let me take the wig off. It’s just pretend hair…don’t cry..it’s really me…there, there now…it’s me, see?”
Okay, I wasn’t crying when I checked your blog yesterday morning, but I had just a teensy bit of separation anxiety for a second until I realized it really WAS you. Just with a new daisy wig and “swanky” new duds.
Phew.
I’ve noticed that sometimes if a blog appears to stop updating in Bloglines, it means that their RSS feed has gotten “knocked off” Bloglines (and yes, that’s the technical term). If I notice that a blog hasn’t updated in a while, I remove them from my Bloglines account and then re-add them. This usually works. And, you know, I have nothing better to do…
Okay, because I love you and because I love having the answers to questions (doesnt happen often but it does make me feel so uber special!) Here is a little bit of bloglines goodness:
You can ping your own feed after you update, and 8/10 it will work (sometimes it likes to tell you that you failed.. sometimes)
Here ya go:
http://www.bloglines.com/ping
just put your feed url in the little box and hit the little button and Voila! (sometimes)
muah!
Heather
I’ve been using Google Reader for a couple of weeks now and am so in love with it.
Your new look is purdy. Retro cool.
The layout is kinda screwy though for me. Your buttons are where they should be on the side, near the top. But the post is way down the page below the bottomest button/sidebar item.
I’m using IE 6. Yes, I should upgrade. I fear change. I hate learning. I’m sleep deprived. That’s enough excuses.
HAPPY HAPPY EASTER TO YOU AND THE BOOFAMILY!
Hi Auburn Gal :)
You are correct in the fact that if you update your IE it shouldnt have that problem. IE is very temperamental (have you tried Firefox, it is fantabulous)
Every browser is different in how it lays out its parameters- if that makes sense- Firefox has been the most reliable in this area that I, and many other designers, have found- In other words- its tha bomb, yo.
I’ve had some trouble with bloglines this week, too.
Poor Gina. She was my favorite girl.
Bloglines has been sucking for me too. Grrrr.
I just can’t even bring myself to watch AI any more this season. I quit watching about two weeks ago and have filled the void (that isn’t there) quite nicely. I get the updates from y’all or my “face to face” friends and that will have to suffice. The frustration became too much. Regardless of the outcome, Lakisha and Melinda will soar!
Okay, I’ve been “lurking” here a few weeks. You make me laugh. Thanks :)
But, I had to comment today because I too have been having the most trouble with Bloglines. The other day, it said one of “my” blogs had 42 new posts. Really, there wasn’t 1 new one…frustrating!
Oh, and I adore your new look! How I dream of a custom look for myself…
Sanjaya — Puuleeze — people have GOT to stop voting for him.
Bloglines — stopped using it for this very reason! Hate it. Haven’t found a better alternative yet.
Your new look — SAVY, baby … Savy! Love it! Of course, it could do with the fact that you used my favorite color in the whole wide world — lime green. Or it could be the orange, which is right up there with lime green on my love list.
Oh my Boo… You look Marvelous!
Okay, sad sad world when Sanjaya stays out of stupidity. There. I said it. Only stupid people would vote for him, be it in jest or in desperation to see an Indian descendant win because of his heritage. Just wrong and ugly and stupid.
Bloglines for the most part works wonderfully, but I think it’s having hormonal issues of late…
We love WI bowling at our house. Except I think I may have dislocated my shoulder in the process of trying to win (it really sucks getting older.) My eight year old son had to pitch in a baseball game last week. In the second inning he was complaining that his arm really hurt so his Dad took him out of the game. We later determined it was because of all the WI bowling (his Dad was not amused) and now cannot play on game day. Oh, the drama.
Love, Love, Love, Planet Earth!
Gina, Gina, Gina, there are no words. My kids have told me they are going to make a vodoo doll of Sanjaya and stick pins in it. Maybe this will help. lol.
I think the whole Sanjaya controversy is really just an evil marketing ploy by AI executives(have you noticed those acronyms could also be “artificial intelligence?) to keep people tuned to the insanity that is called American Idol.
Just sayin’…
Having the same problem with bloglines. Have a wonderful Easter weekend!
Ok, I’m embarrassed how much Sanjaya’s sticking around is bothering me. Every time I watch him on the show, I feel he’s mocking me. Did you notice that when Gina (my hair goddess) was singing her final song, the camera cut to several of the contestants and they were crying… except Sanjaya! Ugh!
To make matters worse, I cannot stop singing that stupid Sanjaya song: “Sanjaya, Sanjaya, gone’ set this place on fi-ya”
Bloglines… ugh. Yep, lots of problems over here. I’ve had to go and change which RSS feed it’s reading on a number of them. No fun. And the thing is that usually, I would see a little red exclamation point next to the blog name if the feed wasn’t working, but now that doesn’t even happen. Maybe Google Reader is the way to go?
Hey Boo!
Just wanted to wish you and yours a Happy Easter!
Hi BooMama…
I’m a new fan of yours and am really enjoying your comments. The AI thing is killing me! But I have faith in the American public to get it all straight in the end. I don’t see how Sanjaya has one ounce of self-respect left. If I were him I’d leave the show just for the sheer embarrassment of it all. Lovin’ Melinda!
I’ve TiVo’d every episode of Planet Earth. It’s a beautifully done series that I hope to watch over and over.
Boomama — I finally got your email. So sorry. We were in Disney World visiting Mickey. I sent you an email with my contact info. Love your new design!! Happy Easter!
