Psalm 34:1-8

“I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. My soul will boast in the LORD; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together.

I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the LORD heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.

Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.”

  1. One of my favorites Psalm!

  2. We lifted Heather and her family up this morning at my moms prayer group. I, too, have a heavy heart today. So much sadness and suffering around me and with my new cyber-friends, too.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

    love,
    Cathy

  3. The name of the Lord is a strong tower – The righteous run into it and they are safe…

Seems like we need a strong tower, a place where hearts are safe and we can know that we know that we know He is still God.

Thanks for setting our eyes towards the one who has it all in His hands.

  4. :hugs: Perfect.

  5. Wow…it’s amazing how many people have been touched by Heather and their world is feeling rocked right now. Such great Scriptures to cling to.

  6. Perfect verse for this morning. I haven’t been able to quit thinking about Heather and her family. I know God is sovereign, but sometimes His ways are hard to understand.

  7. Excellent passage. Thanks for that encouragement.

  8. I needed this today, thanks!!

  9. You are exactly right, Boomama. Sometimes things like who can, or cannot sing, just doesn’t seem so important.

I don’t know Heather–or you for that matter–but, I do know our Lord. Your choice of scripture today hits the mark. He is good and we are blessed when we take refuge in Him!

I will continue to pray that Heather and her precious family will find that refuge and that blessing.

  10. I’m sooo glad that He IS a refuge. And when the storms of life (ie. Heather and Kelli) threaten to overwhelm us, we can run to Him and hide!

  11. Amen, Boomama….you go girlfriend!

Love it when you post Scripture…

  12. This is one of my favorite Psalms too. I remember memorizing it together as a family when I was a kid. My mom made notecards and drew cute pictures on key words to help us remember. I still have it memorized, and the words still comfort me!

  13. Did you know I was going to need that today or what? =)

  14. Surely our griefs (sickness) He Himself bore, and our sorrows (pains) He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him striken, Smitten (struck down by) God, and afflicted. Bue He was pierced (wounded) through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our sell-being (peace) fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed. Isaiah 53:4-5 NAS

and He himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. I Peter 2:24

I am praying for Kelli and Heather.

  15. Sorry for all the typos–it’s hard to see through all the tears.

  16. Amen. I know many haarts are heavy for Heather today. I have found myself on my knees over and over as I go about my day. Thank-you for posting that.

  17. Such wonderful verses. This is one of the passages that kept coming to me over and over again when my daughter was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. We have tasted and seen that the Lord is good, and God means these verses for Heather and her family too.
    Thanks for sharing.

  18. The Lord is good! Thank you this uplifted me.
