SEVEN-NINETY-NINE, my friends.
And I know y’all are gonna be SO SHOCKED that I bought something with an orange, lime green and hot pink pattern.
I am nothing if not predictable.
Anyway, I promise I’ll quit showing y’all pictures of my summer clothes. I can’t even imagine how it must make you want to go sit in a corner, hold your knees, and rock back and forth very slowly until I JUST STOP IT, ALREADY.
But y’all. It was SEVEN-NINETY-NINE.
Plus, a cute skirt with a white t-shirt is my favorite summer ensemble, so I was oh-so-tickled to find this skirt – along with two others that are a smidge more subtle – in Ross today.
And just FYI for all you bargain shoppers: the George stuff at Walmart is adorable right now. They have some wrap dresses that are cute as can be, and I would totally buy one if I had any tolerance at all for the way the fabric accentuates my stomach flab. Not to mention my back fat.
(Is four years too long to use the “I had a baby” excuse to justify stomach flab and back fat? I think maybe so. But still, I did have a baby.)
(Also, I had a lot of fried things. And, I have to say: they were delicious.)
Happy Mother’s Day!
LOVE LOVE LOVE that skirt! I am so with you as far as the baby excuse…I have twins that are three (No. 3 & 4)…so I am going to use it for 8 years if you get to use it for 4 years!!!!!
I’ll give you four years, if your give me fourteen.
Deal?
(dig that skirt – it looks like my room in 1971)
Man, I’m really old.
I adore that skirt, which I know comes as a huge shock.
It’s a shame we have nothing in common.
that skirt is stinkin’ adorable…and I am so with you on the wrap dresses…they would be so cute on me if there was actually a waist between my armpits and butt…it just goes straight down honey…
i said goodbye to the body 4 years ago..i figure I’ve got papers on the hubby and he can’t afford to divorce a woman with 4 children. Plus he loses his ministry so it’s all good..:)
The skirt is sweet. And yes, the price makes it even sweeter!

It is cute–You are a great shopper–I love your fashion shows. There does seem to be an orange theme going on here!
will you please tell me where you get just the right tee to go with these skirts. i have looked everywhere. most of the tees i find really accentuate my spare tire. you got any recommendations?
It is adorable!
I still tell people I’m carrying baby weight. When they ask how old my baby is, I tell them, “192 months!” (uh, yeah, he’s 16 years old…)
Happy Mother’s Day Boomama!
Happy Mother’s Day, Boo Mama!
love it..you are so precious..what SHOES will you wear with it????
Hello, I came via “are we there yet” She thought I might enjoy our sight. I do.
Celibrate your beauty with your new out fit!
Donetta
The excuse? Yes, Ma’am! My youngest will be 5 in July and I’m still using it. Don’t burst my bubble.
Love the skirt! I love Ross too!
Baby weight?? Hmm, I still use that excuse all the time. My youngest is three and I have actually thought about having another baby just so I wont have to worry about losing it right now. I know, totally crazy.
Happy Mother’s Day!
I am so heading to Ross tomorrow … Hmm … I think I have $8 in this purse somewhere …
Cute, cute, cute. 7.99! Even cuter.
You DID have a baby, after all. That’s my excuse ALWAYS.
That skirt is so stinkin’ cute.
The skirt itself is sweet, but considering the price it makes it even more sweet! $7.99 for something that is adorable is the best thing. Makes it even feel nicer when you put it on.
Happy Mother’s Day!
Boomama, My “baby” is 24, and I DO still have babyfat, I know it’s that since it’s been here since he was born, he moved out but it stayed. So yes you can call it that, and you don’t have to tell how old the baby is, even with it’s double digits. xoxo
hmmmm nope- I “had a baby” too- he’s almost 18- but when I had him, he was a baby;) (Also have a 14 yr old ND surprise— A 5 Yr old— I have “baby weight” from all three of them. Ain’t love grand?
Skiert is cute- however- even for 7.99 my butt should not be seen in a print- cute or otherwise!;)
too bad I can’t spell- (actually, can spell just can’t type) I think I’ll blam that on my kids too!
I love it- won’t it go with those shoes you got too long ago?! And you must see my bargain- my new outdoor $299 swing that I bought for $35!
Steph
Yeah…that “my mom just died and I had a baby” is now a nearly 9 year old excuse. However, I’m proud to say I am now just below the 9 month weight I was when I had my daughter. Yep. That’s a milestone. Pretty soon, I hope to weigh less than most men. It’s slow and torturous, but I figure I should be at goal weight in the next 10 years. :) HOwever, I’ll have to buy a waist because the Lord never gave me one of those even when I was slender.
Happy Mother’s Day! And the skirt is a cute one, fer sure!
Cute, cute, cute! I love the cute skirt and t-shirt look. I usually complete the look with flip flops! Would it be bad if I went to Ross and bought a new skirt that wouldn’t fit around my arm right now? At least not until this baby decides to appear. Which should be, oh….in about 3 million more days.
Also, about your delicious breakfast recipes. I so wanted the French Toast one for breakfast this weekend. But I so did not want to cook. I hinted to my husband, but I don’t think he “heard” me. Instead, I am having Bojangle’s biscuits and sweet tea. I guess it’s almost the same…and I still didn’t have to cook. But as soon as I feel like moving off the couch again (you know, in three million days), I am going to be all over those recipes because they sound ideal for postpartum weight loss. Of course, I will be breastfeeding and you know that baby will need some good nutrition. Thanks for sharing and hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day!
i just found your site via “5 minutes for mom” and you are totally hilarious! adding this to my “must read every day or implode” list.
That skirt is precious! If my legs were tan, I could see myself wearing it :)
And, what a bargain!
Oh, boy, nothing could be finer
Than a seven ninety niner!!!!
Celebrate in a big way! Cute!
Boomama,4 years is not too long. My friend went to the plastic surgeon to see about a reduction and while she was there inquired about getting her stomach flab done. She told the doctor that ever since she had the baby she had struggled with it. The doctor asked her how old the baby was. She honestly reported, “He’s 9.” I told her I would have had more pride than that and probably would have said 9 months!!! So, our joke is that the statute of limitaions for baby fat is at least 10 years. So, you’ve got 6 more years on that excuse. Use them wisely. :)
I am so going to Ross tomorrow at lunch.
Adorable skirt!! I’m with you on the wrap dresses–“experts” say they are supposed to be slimming, but I’ve yet to try one on that had any “slimming” qualities. It’s more like a giant arrow that flashes “LOVE HANDLES”. Not to mention that the tie just draws attention to that post-baby bump! I guess it’s only slimming if you are a size 2 and want to look like a 0.
You did great! Great skirt! (I love to shop.)
Also, the “I had a baby” excuse works for at least 8 years. ~:-D
Lynn
i have shoes that would be perfect with that… must go to the store NOW!
Um, I adopted our son and I still use the baby weight excuse. But, if anyone has ever eaten in Russia…they might buy my story. :-)
Praise God…a bargain and fried things to boot! Yippee!
I think for a lifetime after bearing children, there will always be a different tummy and back, but I have seen some who never look like they had kids (and having five!) who look terrific! It must be their great genes to be so good lookin’ in their jeans!
Happy Mother’s Day!
With His joy,
HOlly
You didn’t say where the skirt came from or maybe I missed it-
It is WAY WAY too cute! I need one too!
Oh, the skirt is DARLING, just DARLING! I’ve never SEEN such a darling skirt! Oh, it’s just DARLING! And, you’ll have more fun, just more FUN, wearing it!
And p.s., Happy Mama’s Day. :)
Orange is it, girl! I love it. Happy Mama’s Day!
The skirt perfectly matches the flowers on your blog. Very cute.
Also, and I am being totally serious, could you tell me what makes a white t-shirt cute?
Girlfriend, I think the “I had a baby excuse” will always work anytime, anyplace. There are no time restraints on it. In fact, I am pretty sure it could hold up in any court of law :).
Love it! I went Friday to Ross to shop for Mother’s Day. I got myself a new purse, a guess one, originally 88.00 for 32.99!! And I’ve gotten 3 compliments on it already!!!
I absolutely must have that skirt. And I’ve already been mustering those exact words for my summer vaca – “I’m just recovering from having a baby.” As I jiggle the wiggle around my waistline. (He’ll be 7 come Nov.) I figure, kids are off and running, so I can just point to a baby, right?! Is that bad?
and you didn’t get me and sister one?? :-( It is so cute!!!
Happy Mother’s Day!! xoxo!
TJ Maxx, Ross, Steinmart – my favorite places but still I’d say you got a deal, girl!
$7.99 —-that’s unheard of! =)
Oh — I soooo have a fried food post I’ll be putting up tomorrow — in your honor. Yes, indeedy!
“Is four years too long to use the ‘I had a baby’ excuse to justify stomach flab and back fat? I think maybe so. But still, I did have a baby.”
Boomama: I still use it 7 years later. I think you’re still good on the statute of limitations. I plan on using my excuse for at least 10 more years, so you should be good to go for a while.
And cute skirt!
And here I’ve been kicking myself for not losing the baby weight when the baby is only 18 months old! I have years of milking left!
I’ve never tried on a wrap dress that I liked, at least not since I was twelve. I’m too busty and they’re too low-cut and I have to keep adjusting it. Not a good look!
But your skirt is adorable and follows your theme. You’re so well coordinated. :)
I.heart.Ross. That store rocks!
