I’m Still A Smidge Giddy From The Thrill Of It All

Hey.

You know those people who hate to shop? Who dread looking for new clothes with every fiber of their beings?

I’m SO not one of them.

Not by a long shot.

And this morning, my husband said, “why don’t you go buy something for yourself? Something pretty. Some clothes for vacation.”

Mainly it was because he would rather put nails in his eyes than try to buy clothes for me – especially for Mother’s Day – but his approach worked perfectly for me because HELLO, HE TOLD ME TO GO SHOPPING. BY MYSELF. WITHOUT OTHER PEOPLE. ALONE.

Really, I had no choice but to comply with his wishes. Because I AM JUST THAT SELFLESS, PEOPLE.

Plus, there were bargains to be had.

So I had them. Or have them, as it were.

Because I bought them.

And the bargains are with me now. In my house.

Y’all won’t believe the skirt I found for $7.99.

SEVEN-NINETY-NINE.

Pictures coming soon.

  1. Now, I got to go shopping this morning too. (At the mother ship, aka Kohls.) I arrived during the power hours. Oddly, I couldn’t find any clothes I really liked. So, I now have new silverware, salad servers, and two pair of super cute pj’s. I did get a cute hoodie for next fall in the 70% off area. Does that count?

    Happy Mother’s Day Boo!

  2. ALONE…beautiful word when it comes to shopping! I think you have a keeper there in your dh. Happy Mother’s Day!

  3. I tried last night. I tried so very hard. I truly need a dress. Really, is one dress too much to ask? I think it would be so very nice to wear something that actually, you know, FITS to my own daughter’s BAPTISM! next Sunday.

Yes, I said MY DAUGHTER’S BAPTISM! And it’s a Baptist baptism, so you know what THAT MEANS. (Salvation the Southern Baptist Way.) I may cry right now.

But, I have decided that one dress that actually, you know, FITS IS too much to ask of the dress selling world.

One dress that doesn’t look like Sex in the City or a Payless BOGO commercial’s model. One dress that does not use SPAGHETTI STRAPS. One dress that flatters milk boobs. One dress that is not in a lumpy-bottom clinging fabric. One dress that would go with a pair of comfortable shoes that I already own – not that I’m against buying new shoes, cuz I really LOVE shoes more than dresses – so that I can spend money on shoes for kids that OUTGROW them in 37 seconds flat. One dress that would be comfortable and possibly let me nurse my baby in a pinch.

    Just one not-so-little dress.

Instead of a dress, I came home with a black skirt and 2 mostly-black blouses. I have a great outfit for a funeral, but not my daughter’s BAPTISM!

My daughter totally scored with a swimsuit, 2 shorts, some cute flipflops and some cute Skechers crocy shoes. Her BAPTISM! outfit is much easier.

Maybe I need to try it your way. Would you baby-sit my family so that *I* can go shopping ALONE too?

Alone. Nope. Can’t remember what that’s like.

  4. ps Happy Mothers Day and Happy Birthday Boo!

  5. …I am SO one of those dread-looking-for-new-clothes-with-every-fiber-of-their-beings people, but I do adore your fashion photos, and am eagerly looking forward to seeing the skirt!
Congratulations on the bargain, :) and I wish you the very happiest Mother’s Day!

  6. And you’re going to make us wait????

Now where’s the Happy Mother’s Day in that!

    :-)Chris from Canada

  7. Awesome! Can’t wait to see the pictures of what you purchased!!

  8. Would you be happy to know that you are helping this poor shopping challenged girl? After you posted the pictures of your cute flow-y shirts. . . I went out and bought one of those crinkly ones in some pretty spring pastels. I’m wearing it tomorrow.

I saw your cute new purse at Target today, too.

  9. Ugh, ugh, ugh, I am TOTALLY one of those who hates shopping for clothes with every fiber of her being!!! Kudos to you…what’s your secret?? I’d rather have nails thru my eyes, too!

  10. I’d also much rather put nails in my eyes than go shopping. NOTHING ever fits and it’s allllll too pricey or just flat out ugly or too hoochie-mama for this girl.

Maybe I could hire you to go shopping for me? Wanna come to SC and help a gal out? :)

  11. What a joy! Shopping alone?? I’ve quite forgotten how that feels!

  12. Ditto, ditto, ditto what Erica said…but I’m going shopping tomorrow ALONE and with a little more dough than I’m use to. (Half the time I’m to cheap to buy the the item I REALLY like!) Hopefully, I will come home tomorrow night with some clothes this time. Wish me luck!

    Happy Mother’s Day too!

  13. suzanne says:

What? Did someone say Happy Birthday????
If indeed this is the case, then Happy B’day indeed….and me, I am with you…I LOVE to shop, especially alone, but if you need me to shop for me and spend your money….we can talk! Contact me, I’d love to shop for you people.

  14. Love the bargain hunt. Congratulations on your great find. When I try to explain to my husband my wonderful bargains and how I got them for x% off, his eyes glaze over. Sad, huh?
