Your child goes to his grandparents’ house for a few days.
You have the opportunity to enjoy a kid-free morning with one of your closest friends.
You talk with your friend about where you’d like to go together on the kid-free morning, and she says, “How about the big new grocery store? I haven’t been there yet!”
And you say “OKAY! LET’S DO THAT!”
And you’re excited about it.
And after you walk up and down every single aisle, you sit in the grocery’s deli and drink coffee with your friend for the next two hours.
Happily.
That sounds like HEAVEN! Can I come next time?
I LOVE WholeFoods! Glad you enjoyed your kid free day.
I wonder–was it was a SuperTarget? I’m glad for some free time and a friend to laugh with! Bless you Girl! We shall be coming through you way a week from Sunday–destined for Destin :) Woo hoo! I can smell that salty air now.
Yep – I’d be excited too. Of course, I already knew I was getting old!
grocery store, not so much, but I’m down with the whole coffee thing. I’m not sure I even like coffee, but I drink it every day and so much the better if the kids happen to be absent! Jealous over here…
I wish I could say that didn’t sound like so much fun…but I can’t.
Pathetic.
I heart big new stores…even of the grocery variety.
Whole Foods is awesome!! If you haven’t tried their stuffed chicken breasts, you must. They are DELICIOUS!!!
Glad you had a great day!!
I guess I’m old, too….sounds like fun to me…..coffee, friends, new stores, um, what’s not fun about that?
Heck, if I had a friend to go to an *old* store with, I’d be all for it!
Was it Whole Foods then? If so, I don’t think you are getting old at all – just way more cool. I could live at Whole Foods if they let me.
Sounds awesome, actually! I would love to spend 2 kid free hours with my best friend!
So, what would you have done in your former “young” life on a kid-free day? (Besides shake your head at “old” ladies who go to grocery stores just to putter up and down the aisles?)
what’s wrong with that? Oh my… I must be old…. =)
BTW- I am a lurker that has read your blog forver! You make my night! I laugh so hard I just about wake up my dd!!
Keep the funny, great and clean stuff coming! Thanks!
was it the whole foods on 280? is it totally difficult to get to or is it pretty easy? (hubby got a job offer and we’re trying to figure out where to live. i’m trying to decide how far away i can live from my whole foods without spontaneously combusting.)
Did you clip coupons before going and have them carry your bags to the car that you couldn’t find in the parking lot? Because THAT is when I’d know I was old.
Um, well, I’m 25…no kids…and the prospect of a new grocery store makes me positively giddy. But I don’t know your joy because we only have old grocery stores here. And no Super Target. Oh, and no Sonic..yes, you read that right – NO SONIC. And no Chick-fil-A. I’m going to stop now because I’m moping, and it’s not even raining right now, so at the very least I should be thankful about that!!!
Depends on what kind of grocery store! But always fun to shop with a friend.
Fun post!

If you can have coffee with a friend it doesn’t matter where you are! That’s one of my favorite things to do. Sounds fun. Enjoy your kid free days!
I don’t see the problem… sounds like fun if you ask me. Did you use any coupons? :-)
That sounds like a blast. We have an HEB Plus, and I love walking around it when I am without kids for a few hours. :)
HAHA!!! I would LOVE to go to Whole Foods with a friend!! What FUN!!!
Yes, I know that I am getting old, too!

Oh, to go to the grocery store, without my three girls under the age of 6! I’m green with envy.
This is very true. On the other hand it makes Bossy want to drink all the gin in the house.
Oh, oh, oh…. a grocery store trip WITHOUT kids in tow (hey! that rhymes!) I get you–since I cannot go without the twins…you’ve shopped with Alex but try shopping with the ‘Twinadoes’
Wholefoods has the BEST mac and cheese in their hot food section.
Hey! Have been lurking for some time just enjoying your blog. Alesha, who has a little boy in the Miami Children’s Hospital, sent me some of your southern stuff ’cause that’s what I am. I’m from southern Mississippi and can definitely relate to everythng you’ve said! Enjoy your site, hope you don’t mind if I continue to lurk ’cause I sure don’t have anything interesting to write about!
God bless you on your grown up time! I’m so ready for some myself. I may spontaneously combust. I promise to lean away from the computer, though.
Thank God I’m not the only one who thinks that would be fun!! I’m not as weird as I thought.
I think that’s a great way to spend a morning! Actually, we met some friends of ours a few weeks ago and ended up right there. What a COOL market! Instead of coffee, we hooked up the ice cream! :)
Aaaaaah…time out without the children…how nice! Enjoy!
Sounds heavenly!
Echoing an earlier comment, we’re deprived in our neck of the woods: no whole Foods and no Sonic. The latter lack-therof is what really kills my husband. Their commercials drive him to the edge of insanity. “Why don’t we have one of those? Why?” he asks. “Because we’d weigh 600 pounds if we did,” I reply, knowing our weakness for…oh, everything they serve. But, like you, I could spend hours in a grocery store (especially if it was Whole Foods, which, though I have never been, I think I would love). Sigh.
that actually sounds fabulous. we have a new grocery store called “Bloom” that opened up here recently. i actually called my mama from the store to tell her how fabulous it was. there’s no turning back.
I got you beat…last week a girl friend and I went on a GIRLS NIGHT OUT and guess where we went??? TARGET! We bought our dinner at the Target deli and sat and ate in peace and quiet, even sipped on our lattees in the Target deli then spent the next 3 hours going up and down EVERY SINGLE isle and enjoyed every minute of it. Only spent $20! It was the BEST! When I got home, my husband couldn’t understand how two women could spend an entire evening in TARGET!
I must be getting old too. That sounds like what I would do.
Thank you Boo for a great site to read! Every day! I love it!
