I have the most exciting news!
Last week I mentioned that I’d been on the hunt for trouser-style jeans and had found some at Steinmart, but I couldn’t direct you to them because Steinmart doesn’t have merchandise online. And when several of you emailed me because you were wanted to order some trouser-style jeans of your very own, I made a solemn vow (okay. not really. but it makes for a better story if I say that.) to try to find a similar pair online so I could link to them.
(By the way: I promise that, after I give you this information, I will cease and desist with the jeans discussion for, like, three days.)
(Maybe even four.)
Well.
Looky here, internets.

But if you don’t suffer the same stomach / waistline woes that I do, you will probably love the mid-rise jeans, and did I mention that they’re only $20?
You flat-stomached or only-a-hint-of-pooch-stomached girls will look great in them.

(In case you don’t remember, Angela’s jeans were what started this whole denim-related quest, so if you’re sick and tired of me talking about jeans, well, you just need to hunt down Angela’s jeans and give them a piece of your mind.)
(But consider yourself warned: if you actually go through with the process of hunting down Angela’s jeans, you will end up batting your eyes at them and cradling them in your arms. While you whisper sweet promises of all the cute boots you plan to wear with them.)
Anyway, I am especially fond of how the second pair of Old Navy jeans fits through the behind because they don’t sag at all. Plus, the pockets are placed a little higher than normal, and, um, ILLUSIONS ARE OUR FRIENDS.
And last but not least:

Now I haven’t seen these jeans in person, so I don’t know if they’re available in stores or not. But I did see that Old Navy is doing $5 shipping right now, so it just might be worth your while to order a pair and see if they work for you. Since they can be dressed up or dressed down, you’d be able to get a good bit of bang for your fashion buck. I think they’re adorable.
And thus concludes our First Annual Inexpensive Jean-A-Thon. To tell you the truth, I’m a little exhausted from wading through so many different styles of jeans online – not to mention the ones that I tried on in stores.
Whew.
So to recharge my batteries, I’m now off to look at shoes.

I do love the Payless, as I am not rich, but one of my favorite episodes of Top Model was the Payless one where Jade poured water all over herself during the shoot. Neither Mr. Jay, nor Miss J. nor Tyra would ever ever ever be caught dead in a pair of shoes from Payless. Ever. Yet because Payless was a sponsor, they went on and on about how awesome they were.
Since you are on the subject of jeans. A women I went to lunch with recently had on a pair of “True Religion” jeans. I noticed the label on the back–it jogged my memory that I had read about them in a magazine somewhere. Next she said, “Want to know what they cost?” The bargain hunter in me thought I was going to get a hot lead. Three hundred and ten dollars!!! Maybe paying that much for True Religion really helps you feel the spirit.
Jeans……….honey! I am still wearing shorts.
Hee!!! :-)
Can I just be a rebel and say I’m not a fan of the trouser jean?
Ducking from flying denim, now.
Just bought those first trouser jeans you have pictured on Saturday. LOVE THEM!!! Wore them on Sunday and they were TOO comfortable and just TOO cute for words!
Thanks for the additional jean options! I REALLY wanted to love the trouser jeams from Target. I mean I REALLY REALLY wanted to love them! So much so that I made two trips to try them on. They were AWFUL on me! AWFUL!!! If I’d bought them, I would have hard to introduce myself as Martha and this is my rear end half exposed. Perhaps a smaller size would have been better, but I really doubt it! So, I’ll redirect my obsession to Old Navy now! :)
Old Navy always has $5 shipping, how awesome is that? That’s cheaper than actually driving to Old Navy since I have to make 13 stops along the way and spend money at each of them!
LOVE that last pair! Gotta see if I can find ’em in my post-preg-o size. :0)
Okay, I’m a tad bit hurried trying to provide lunch for the little ones (and me), ready the house for book club this week and still check my blogs. So, while sneaking a peek at the computer I mistakenly read your title as “Perhaps I need to start a separate blog about Jesus”. I should take this opportunity to tell you that I also quest for that perfect jean, so am in no way judgmental and I’m enjoying the online help you provide. However, I could not find the deeper meaning in this particular blog, until of course, I re-read the title. Duh.
Just thought I’d share the too busy, often dorky, mommy moment with you.
Love your post on trouser style jeans, I too have been hunting for just the right pair. I will be heading to Old Navy this afternoon!! So glad I stopped by. Thanks!
Maybe you and Big Mama could do a fashion show for us next :) Thanks for all the tips on where to find cheap stuff!
Lane Bryant has some ADORABLE trouser jeans. And their new sizing is awesome. You should really check it out.
Old Navy rocks! I love that store, for myself and my kid.
I think I might have to go on a little shopping spree soon. Thanks a lot! :)
I found the cutest pair of maternity jeans, dark rinse, at WM last night and I love the way they look. It was a good thing they worked out ok because it could have been a crushing moment in my dread to buy maternity clothes. I actually felt kinda cute in them – LOL!
It is just like having a personal shopper! You have done a magnificent service for all of us who really don’t care for the whole shopping and trying on thing! Thanks, much!
I just want to say that I tried Old Navy’s mid rise pants this weekend and um…my “muffin top” was really more of an Otis Spunkmeyer–and that was not a good thing.
But, for those with less Otis issues going on–I love the jeans.
BooMama, are you tellin me that these pants are going to fit on a woman (read, me) whose birthed 5 babies? I gave up on Old Navy years ago. It’s the stomach I tell ya!!
Now, I’m stuck. Do I rush over to Old Navy and try on jeans or go to the bookstore to pick up a new book for the book challenge? Luckily, there’s a bookstore next to Old Navy. I can relax with a book after my aerobic workout, aka -jeans shopping.
Apples to apples: you’re the best.
I finally faced the fact that the post-baby weight isn’t going anywhere before jeans season and ordered these very same (plus-size) trouser jeans this weekend, as well as a more “casual” pair. I’m eagerly awaiting their arrival. No idea if they’ll fit me right or not!
Just wanted to share that Old Navy has taken their plus-sized line out of stores and only sells it on-line now. I have been boycotting them since they did that. However, I also want some trouser-style jeans, so I might have to lift the boycott temporarily. Hmmm…
You are a gift to society with your denim PSAs. You need one of those “The More You Know” bits on NBC.
I concur that you and Big Mama need a fashion show. Step, step, step…… pivot turn…. step, pause for effect.
I am here to testify! I purchased me a pair of them snappy trouser jeans this past Friday at my favorite store of choice — Target. Let me just say, I totally L-O-V-E them. These were in the fluffy-sized section though, so I don’t know nothin’ ’bout them skinny chic jeans. And no muffin – I promise.
I also snatched up a pair of mighty cute high heeled ankle boots to complete the ensemble. Now I just need for the 156 degree weather to go away and I am set!
Just so ya know…I tried on a pair of these jeans based on what you said about Angela Cottrell (who is much slimmer and shorter than I) and they made me look worse than a double wide trailer parked on a one lane county road. Oh my lands. Forget the muffin-top, it’s more like a muffelletta…stuff just spills out everywhere. BUT…I’m willing to keep trying them…because, well, you DO know fashion…and even though there’s an “X” in my size (and I’m 1/4″ shy of 6′), I am ever so hopeful I’ll find a pair that fits properly.
So, when I click on the link, those jeans are not on sale for $20. They are like $34 or something, which is not outrageous for jeans, but it’s certainly more than $20.
I, too, tried the jeans from Target and was sorely disappointed that I couldn’t even get them over my hips. Whatever!
Jeans and shoes are my absolute favorite. I mean this in humor, but sometimes I really hate that I have to spend money on the other articles of clothing! lol
Um…back pockets. Again, no mention of back pockets size. I can’t do those little slit things that are meant to look like pockets. No ma’am, I need the full-on-pocket- booty-breaker-upper. WHEN will you start finding clothes for the masses based on the bootyview??
Thanks so much for posting the jeans!!! I have been looking online for jeans for months. I’m having my sister or mom go to the store for me since I live of out the USA–I’ll get them in October–I hope they fit after all I go to all my favorite USA eating establishments–Krispy Kreme, Sonic, Taco Bell! Maybe I should email them back and have them get a bigger size :). Everytime I go back to the states I gain weight–I eat all my favoirte foods and the only exercise I get is shopping which I’m sure burns as many calories as 30 minutes of aerobics! Thanks again!
I love those jeans, I think I had that exact pair when I was 16, which was a mere 39 years ago. I like the lower waist since I’m built like a tree and my waist is as big as my hips and chest, but my muffin overfloweth! I wish we had an Old Navy here, but I a small town girl!
Okie dokie… I think it’s officially time for a “get ready to be in regular clothes again” shopping trip to Old Navy. It’s a necessity. Part of being about to have a baby. Like craving ice cream at midnight. I’m just sure my husband will agree.
Because that top pair? I think it’s love, yes I do.
I just bought an awesome pair of trouser jeans at JCPennys. Yes that’s what I said. It is not your mother’s JCPEnnys. There clothes are really cute. Anyway, they are by A.n.a. and have really cute pockets.
The website has them, but the link was 10 pages long. So go over there and look.
What I like to say is, “hi, I’m Sunni, and this is my muffin top” when I wear jeans. It’s great.
Great post! Love it. I’ve been looking for jeans too but haven’t been to Old Navy. I’ll be going there this week.
The jeans you posted are so cute!
yeah for you for finding just the right jeans!!! It is a pain in the butt huh????
I’m a pear-shaped small poocher, so I’ll go for the mid-rize pair…right NOW! ($20? I am SO there! See ya later!)
For the dozenth time, you crack me up.
Oh Boomama.
Thank you for showing us these wonderful jeans. After work tonight I wrestled the kids into one of those Old Navy carts ( one strapped in, the other standing pinned between the seat and the large soft sided hanging basket), and found BOTH pairs of jeans, just as you said, both cute and flattering, and a steal at $20 a pop.
I bought both. I am more of an hour glass traditionally ( a very lumpy bumpy abstract art kind of hour glass), and they both fit good.
Thank you so much, you are a wonderful scourer of local bargains for the mommyhood. You have my gratitude. Now I really can rock those 10 pounds I gained this past year in style.
You really must stop blogging about clothing. I went to Target yesterday looking for that cute top you blogged about a few days ago and blew our grocery money on new clothes :) Now I must find those $20.00 Old Navy jeans. We’ll be poor, but at least I’ll look cute!
I would like to report that I ordered some plus-sized, tall, mid-rise trouser jeans from the Mossimo Black line at Target just the other day BECAUSE OF THIS POST! I had managed to put my want of trouser jeans behind me, and then you brought it all up to the surface again.
They were a better option than the $108 pair I found on the Nordstrom page. But oh, the beauty of those jeans…
I will let you know how it goes. And I didn’t have to lift my boycott!
In my previous life(as a size 6)I had the CUTEST pair of trouser jeans. They were from Express. The Editor I do believe, complete with a 4″ rise. I actually had the Editor style in denim as well as four other colors because they are SO flattering. If, I repeat IF you are a size 6.
Now, post skinny, I hate clothes shopping. It’s miserable. They look at me funny when I walk into the Express with a stroller.
Thank you SO MUCH BooMama for guiding us mamas who are shaped like fruit other than the banana in the right direction for fall fashion. I can use all the help I can get!
