It’s Probably No Surprise That Sister And I Went To The State / Ole Miss Game Today

And oh, it was glorious.

It was also cold. And windy. And very cold. And very windy.

But that is neither here nor there.

Because LOOKY HERE! WE WON!

We had so much fun, and I’ll write all about it after I recover from all the not sleeping I’ve been doing.

I’m also worried sick about the cute little Tri Delt from Ole Miss I saw before the game who was wearing a mini dress, super-high suede heels and Gucci sunglasses. I mean, she looked absolutely adorable, but I’m fairly confident she’s probably being treated in Oktibbeha County General Hospital for pneumonia right about now, what with her FORGETTING TO WEAR ANYTHING EVEN REMOTELY WARM.

And style is really of very little use if it lands you in the hospital, my friends.

Feel free to have that last sentence engraved on a plaque, by the way.

And feel free to have this next bit of info engraved on a plaque as well:

Mississippi State – 17
Ole Miss – 14

Go ‘Dogs.

  1. So glad you had such a great time! Enjoy the rest of your weekend…

  2. Is it okay if I make the fashion statment nto a bumper sticker?

  3. Tis so sweet to have “The Egg” back home in Starkville!

  4. I heard the cow bells on tv all through the game and was wondering if ya’ll were there.

  5. I’m actually really happy that State won, despite being an Ole Miss grad. This was probably the first year I was rooting for them over my own team. Coach Croom is such a good guy, and I really wanted one of our teams in a bowl game. Ole Miss has been an embarrassment to the entire state and the greatness that is the SEC this year, and I blame that utterly useless Coach O. for that. Ugh. It’s time for him to be fired!! Leave, man! Go!

  6. Congrats! Arkansas won too!

  7. Woo hoo!!! I would normally have been rooting for Ole Miss…I mean, I did get a Master’s degree there; it’s the least I can do, but since their football team is apparently made up of thieves with a coach who thinks they’re “just good kids” and ought to get to play football anyway…well, I ain’t rootin’ for THAT. ;) So yay State!!

  8. So sad I missed the game, but I did tell dear hubby they do better when I do not get to watch them. WAY TO GO DAWGS!!! Now for tomorrow – WAR EAGLE!

  9. So proud of our Bulldogs and Coach Croom…they deserved it!!! Glad you and Sister were able to be there.

  10. Rub it in, Boo Mama….just Rub. It. In. LOL!! My Rebels had a case of the butterfingers AND a case of the stupids. In any case…enjoy that egg because it will be in Oxford next year!!

  11. I was so impressed that you got down on the field and that close to the trophy. Then I saw the photo credits ;0)

    Blessings,
    K

  12. You should have seen the Razorbacks beat LSU in overtime…whew…we were worn out just watching! I’m glad I’m not the only one who notices how little people wear to ballgames when it is SO cold in the name of fashion.

  13. What a game! I cannot believe MSU pulled that off! And that interview at the end with that sweet coach…..he couldn’t even talk from crying…..SWEET! And then…..running with the flag…it got me all misty…..
there is no crying in football!!!

    Go Dawgs!Congrats!

  14. I hope you got a chance to see the Hawgs beat the snot out of LSU.

Actually, it wasn’t exactly snot-beating. But it was really, really beautiful. Especially if you hate LSU.

  15. Go Dawgs! GO HOGS!! It was beautiful for us today. I almost cried when we pulled it out, barely after 400 overtimes….it was glorious. I’m pooped too and I wasn’t even there.

    Good night. sleep well.

  16. sounds like it was a good game. we’ve got our major rivalry showdown this weekend. i’m so tempted to tp the neighbor’s house!! (they’re flying the WRONG flag!!)

  17. i’m feeling some love for the game of football today after watching the lsu arkansas game today. great fun!

  18. So much fun! And cold weather! Just in time! For Christmas is coming!!

We’re expecting 6 inches of snow tonight….come on over and let’s have us a good chat over a nice hot latte.

Poor baby girl…(as my father-in-law would say) ain’t got no mama, ain’t got no daddy…just don’t know no better than to dress like that :)

    Have a marvelous weekend!
    Blessings on you, friend.

  19. Hey, at lest the rebels made it into double digits. Dang, I’ve been to Egg Bowls (v v cold ones, btw) where they barely made it to single digits in the score!

  20. Congrats on the win! As for the Tri-Delt, maybe Stacy and Clinton will visit her in the hospital. Show her how to accessorize that lovely backless “wrap dress.” ;)

  21. Mary Kat's Mom says:

I am so glad you were there! I was watching and wondering if you got to go! Great game! And Coach Croom at the end, carrying the flag, and he couldn’t talk to the T.V. guy he was so choked up?!? He is great! I love him! Have a great day and pull for the Tide for N.K. and me!

  22. Lea Margaret says:

Those pictures are a vision of beauty! What a glorous year in our Bulldog legacy. Thank you Boo Mama!!! Go Dawgs!!! And bless that little Tri Delt’s heart.

  23. Catherine says:

I want you to know that I watched the Miss State/Ole Miss game specifically because of this blog. I do not need another college football team to watch – between watching Clemson (my husband) and watching the Gators (me), I hate autumn as it is. But I knew you’d be a happy camper today! Go Dawgs!

  24. is it any surprise that the cute little scantily but adorably dressed tri delt was NOT a chi-o? we’re a sisterhood of warm smarts, us owls. : )

  25. The only person that I know who might be a bigger sports fan that you is…which really is an unfair comparison since he is a guy and most guys are born with a sports chip in their brain…my husband. It’s nice to know there are female “fans” out there.

  26. Go State! Good to see the egg back in S’ville!

But inform Miss Shannon that there was no snot beaten from anyone at that other game to which she referred. :-) It was a good game to watch. I was sad not to be able to see the State / Ole Miss game, but did get to see LSU / Arkansas.

  27. I am so with you in your thoughts on the Tri-delt. I knew I was officially old when I started worrying about how the sorority girls were dressed at SEC games. Since when do people wear cocktail dresses to a game, for crying out loud? I am very glad that trend started after I left!

  28. Diane Pierce says:

You know what? YOU CRACK ME UP!! I know when I need a little pick me up where I can be cheered – you’re the best!

  29. From one football fanatic to another…

    Enjoy your win. War Eagle!

  30. Hey Boo Mama.. Congrats on the conquest! I was reading your menu for Thanksgiving and we also had lots of goodies to partake of… and I love asparagus.. and I was wondering if you have a recipe for the asparagus casserole that you’d share??? Tks… Cecil… Hugs to you and Sister…

  31. A glorious day yesterday for Mississippi State and Arkansas with those OT wins! I KNOW you were so happy!!!

  32. Butterbean says:

You go, BooMama! My Dawgs were triumphant as well. If only those old Kentucky Wildcats could have taken advantage of the THREE or more gimmes to beat Tennessee! Oh well…
    GO DAWGS and GO DOGS!

  33. I grew up in central Illinois, and as my dear father used to tell me on my way out the door-
“you know Laura, no one ever froze to death at a fashion show!”

    I hope she made it-

  34. BooMama,

I was at the game as well but unfortunately I was rooting for the losing team! It was a great game however (except for that losing thing). Congratulations! Off to look for a new coach….

  35. As I was bundled up on the coach, I wondered if you were out there! I got to catnap until the 4th qtr, when the dogs decided to show up, so it was a win-win situation for me. I’m so glad we pulled it off, and you gotta love Croom at the end. He was in tears!
I chuckle at all the girls that wear those dresses and high heels to the games. Maybe colleges should offer some type of common sense class…
