Well, the wedding was absolutely beautiful.
Beautiful.
Did I mention that it was beautiful?
It was. Totally beautiful.
But in case you were wondering? A “spring forward” time change is just a wee bit hateful when you have to be at an airport by 7:30 in the morning, which you may have known as 6:30 in the morning as recently as yesterday, even.
And if I start to think about how I was in the Pacific time zone and now I’m in the central time zone and so I was two hours behind my normal time while we were in California but then we jumped an hour ahead and then two hours ahead once we crossed back into central time only central time is now an hour ahead of what it used to be so pretty much I don’t have any idea what time it is or what time my body thinks it is and my feeble mind is not at all capable of sorting out this whole thing and OH MY WORD SOME SORT OF MATHEMATICAL FORMULA WOULD BE HANDY.
As long as it doesn’t involve any actual math.
And also: do you know what else I need?
My own bed.
Hallelujah.
See y’all tomorrow.
You jet-setter, you. :)
Glad you could hop over to our time zone for a little while! Good luck adjusting though!
Just one picture? Pretty please???
You need the t-shirt that reads, “English major…You do the math.”
I’m with you on the clocks. Traveling MESSES with my mind!! Do we get to see the beautiful bride??? And you in the wedding get-up?
Oh man. It made my head spin just trying to figure out what time you should be in! When you wake up, turn on the TV. Then you can figure out what time it is based on what’s on. :)
I don’t like losing an hour’s worth of sleep, much less traveling through several time zones!
Sleep well, friend!
I’m with you. I’m so confused I’m not even sure it’s still March. i wrote a post tonight about how 6 tonight was 7 last night and it was up two hours before my husband and son gently informed me that I had it backwards. If I had to deal with a time zone change at the same time, I’d have no choice but to go in my room and lock the door until 4th of July.
Glad you’re home safe and sound, and that you had a great time at the fabulously beautiful wedding.
I hear you on the whole math thing. I have a hard time just knowing which way to adjust the clock. Math was never my strong subject, either.
That made me chuckle.
After my daughter enrolled at Emory in Atlanta, my sister and I went up for family day.
When we were headed back to Arkansas, we had “fallen back” for DST. My daughter was an hour ahead, EST.
All the way home (or at least once we re-entered CST) I kept trying to figure out what time it was. It gave both of us a headache. We were an hour up and then fell back an hour and then fell back another hour in our time zone. *argh*
And then I moved to EST. Confused? Much.
Glad you are back safe and sound!
Your explanation of the whole time zone-daylight savings time thing had me smiling and laughing! My hubby was just shaking his head as I read it to him.
Oh well, I thought it was fun-ny!
So glad you made it back to your own bed!
Glad the wedding was beautiful! As a math teacher (currently a SAHM) I am so very thankful for spell check! Since we are polar opposites in that aspect just hop over to my blog and I will do all the math for you (when it comes to shopping anyway)!
Pictures, please. I don’t know if I could be friends with them because they are quantum-leap-cuter than I am, and it would be even worse if they were nice, too.
But I hope you had fun anyway. ;)
My hubby is in Shanghai. 16 hr. difference, which is now a 15 hour difference. I’m sure the hour is all he needs to be fresh and new. :) Next time, fly north to Seattle. I promise, I’d even take you to Starbucks and Panera bread. Or Whidbey Island. You pick.
We did that last year, only we flew from Arizona (which DOESN’T change time for daylight savings) to Birmingham (in the Central Time Zone), and then drove to Atlanta (in the Eastern Time Zone) all DURING the exact “spring forward” time of 2:00 a.m.
Except I think we somehow missed it because when it was 2am in AL we were already across the GA state line, where it was 3 (or 4, since they already had sprung forward at 2?) VERY confusing, I must say!!
Sophie. I am currently stranded at the CLT airport at 1:10 a.m. and I’m reading you talking about your own bed and I’m so insanely jealous that I can’t make non run-on sentences and that didn’t even make sense anyways.
Get some sleep, I just yawned thinking about how tired you must be!!
Welcome home. I had a dream about you last night – and I mean that in the nicest, non stalker sort of way.
I dreamed that you decided to have a spur of the moment woman bloggers retreat at your house on one days notice. I was at my house reading all of these blogs about how much they’re enjoying the retreat at your house, and how very godly your infirmed Grandmother is (do you even have an infirmed grammy living with you?) and I got all jealous at these women who could jump on a plane on one days notice and go retreating in your home with you and your infirmed grammy.
So I’m pretty sure that it wasn’t a dream from the Lord, but I thought I’d let you know that if it is, some of us need more than a days notice. :-)
YOU~NEED~A~DIET~COKE~~~~~NOW!!!
Or maybe three or four of them- I’m just sayin’….
I absolutely despise daylight savings time! Why, oh why must we continue under a rule that was invented to SAVE CANDLES FOR PITY’S SAKE? How many people are still out there using candles to light their homes? And if they are- I’m thinking they may not even have a clock! All it does here is mess up my kids sleep- which as we all know, messes up MY sleep- and that’s never pretty.
Especially at 5 am today when I got up to go to the gym, and my body thought it was 4 am. I know it’s going to make me pay later, I just know it. Feeling you pain sister, feeling your pain!
Oh, let someone else work on that problem. Get thee to a bed and sleep on it!
See you in a more decent hour.
I think my 3 month old thought it would be funny to add to the time change madness and wake up at 3:45 am and stay awake with a smile and a giggle until 6:30…yes, she did.
Sounds like a beautiful wedding :)
and I’d like my own bed too! I’ve been sleeping now for 2 days shy if 5 weeks on an airmattress with a whole in it.
Awww, you were near my home town. You just made me homesick. I hope you had a great time, it looks like you did!
I did not go anywhere and the time change about kicked my butt – I am so tired today!
BTW: the wedding couple – could they be any more attractive!!
I am so glad you and the hubs had a great fun filled time!
Kim
Can I just add that this time change is just wrong. Of. The. Devil.
Can I just add that this time change is just wrong. Of. The. Devil.
Not only did THEY change the time…they changed it EARLY!!! Now what does that say to us mathematically challenged blogging journalers…???? Just exactly who figures out this stuff…???? Men??~?~ My man gets lost in a MALL!!!
Anyway…loved your thoughts on Daylight Savings Time. I laughed so hard…
I’ve crossed time zones during “spring forward” before. It was only one time zone, but it still wasn’t a picnic.
Glad you’re home and had such a lovely time in our state! I thought of you a few times this weekend with your wedding. My brother’s wedding was absolutely beautiful…was Saturday not the most perfect day possible for a wedding!? And I agree that Saturday night/Sunday AM was the WORST possible night for the time change!
And then yesterday I’d be lying if I said a little tiny part of me was hoping maybe to run into you when we were at Disneyland with the bride and groom and the out of town cousins. But, alas, you’d already been! And yes, there were four of us thirtysomething couples who took turns watching the littles who couldn’t go on Space Mountain and Matterhorn and the like because we all wanted to ride them! :) Or closing the park at 11PM. With two tiny kids. And feeling ready to fall over the next day. Because it’s what the littles wanted to do. I swear it was!
so glad to hear it’s so simple – Husband is leaving home (Northern Ireland) for a wedding in California tomorrow.
So everyone in California must be getting married this week then.
It’s a long way – I can’t contemplate working out the times yet!
