A List. Imagine That.

1. I’m sitting at the airport, waiting for my flight to San Antonio. I’m listening to some people talk about cows and grandbabies. They’re making me laugh with their enthusiasm about both.

2. Today – in about four and a half hours – I’ll get my first taste of authentic Tex-Mex. REAL-LIVE Tex-Mex. Last night David asked me if I was excited about that, and I honest-to-goodness said, “Yes! Because I hear they sometimes make the guacamole at the table!”

I am so easily entertained.

Anyway, I’ve thought for weeks now about what I want to order (the fact that it will contain cheese is pretty much a given, isn’t it?), but I think it’s safe to say that I’ll take lots of pictures of what ever it is.

Sweet, sweet memories.

3. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, but our child is officially the best waker-upper on the planet. He’s the total opposite of me in this regard. Regardless of how early he has to wake up, he jumps out of bed happy and ready to face the day. I MARVEL at his level of cheerfulness.

4. The guy next to me is talking about how he’ll get to work on a diagram ASAP and CC so-and-so on it. Y’all. If had a job where my paycheck depended on me generating some sort of diagram, I would last at said job approximately forty-four seconds. I’m totally stressed out for this guy and I don’t even know him.

I have some codependency issues.

5. College football and a new season of The Amazing Race are right around the corner. I am understandably giddy.

6. Somebody just mentioned that they wanted to get “a soda.” Which was a dead giveaway that she’s not from here. I do love me some regional dialect.

7. Flight boarding. More later. From TEXAS. Yee-haw.

  1. While you all are having fun living and learning and such with Ms. Beth, I will be walking 15 miles on Saturday and 15 miles on Sunday to train for the 3-day walk.

    Wanna trade? : )

  2. Hello,

I love your comment about your son being the best waker upper:)

I’m a morning person by birth. (It’s ALWAYS by birth.Morning people can only be made by God as it take supernatural power to make one:)

Anywhoo…. My husband is about as far from being a morning person as you can get.It is too funny, he thinks I need to be “treated” for my morning person disease.

    Take Care,

    Trixie

  3. I have a feelin’ you’re gonna LOVE Tex-Mex!! And I hope I get to see you around at the conference. I’m headed down to S.A. from Austin in just a few hours…I just need to wake up a bit more. :) Happy traveling!

  4. I can’t WAIT for Amazing Race. I just started a list on my blog for this morning’s post. I’m procrastinating and reading blogs b/c I’m on #2 and have run out of things to say. A 2-item list doesn’t seem quite right.

    Have fun in Texas!

  5. The Office and The Amazing Race! My rear may be glued to the sofa until Christmas!

  6. Welcome to Texas, honey. You won’t want to leave. Oh, unless you don’t like scorching HEAT.

I recommend chicken quesadillas. Or a combination plate with an enchilada, tamale, and stuffed chili. And don’t forget the Spanish rice.

The options are endless, really. You know that’s how it is in Texas.

  7. I love that you’re all “Yee-haw” about going to TX when you’re from Alabama. I grew up in AR, moved to KY and now live in TN, so it’s always amusing to me that wherever we are, we feel like somewhere else is the “real south”. Like we’re NOT the hickiest, but rather a more refined southern. I love it! I love the South, and I’m glad you do too. Love your blawg, and the fact that you have created a way to type Southern. I stand in amazement. You rock, BooMama! Tell BigMama, FryDaddy and SiestaMama hello from all your interwebs! Hope you get some guacamole made at your table!

  8. While you are in San Antonio, you should eat at Casa Rio on the Riverwalk…Muy Bueno Tex-Mex…not at all on any diet in the world. I live here in SA and I will be at Beth Moore this weekend…I assume that’s why you are coming and not the fantastical muggy weather!

  9. Sophie- if regional dialect is what you desire… hit Pittsburgh. You’ll hear a whole host of such banter. For Pete’s sakes I live here and there are days I just can’t figure out why someone would say to me, “Careful, it’s slippy out.” Or… “We’re headin’ out for sodas and hoagies n’at”

The jargon catches me off guard daily.

Enjoy S.A. Hug Beth’s neck for me. (And sneak a peek in her Bible and report back with Pictoral Proof!!! )

  10. Texas rocks. And I’m not just saying that because I live here. Enjoy your visit. Try not to melt.

  11. Oh, I’m so jealous that you are ….

    A. going to my home state!!!! yee-haw y’all

    B. getting to go to Living Proof Live

    and

    C. going to the siesta fiesta (I assume you are going?)

Hope you have a wonderful time and PLEASE eat some guacamole for me!!!

  12. Hi Boo Mama,
I have never commented on your blog, but I just had to welcome you to my state! You’re gonna love Texas – we’ve got regional dialect in spades here. ;-) Can’t wait to hear about all the Tex-Mex you try. I was born and raised on it. :-) I enjoy your blog so much! Thank you for making me smile every day. :-)

  13. You are going to have a blast this weekend! Enjoy and be blessed!

  14. Yippee! Boo Mama’s coming to San Antonio!
I hope you enjoy your Tex-Mex and Guacamole!

I have to say, though, as a born-and-bred Texan, I actually do say “soda”, as a generic term for Coke, Diet Coke, Dr. Pepper, et al. I think I learned that in college from my Yankee and Californian friends! I draw the line at “Pop”, however!

    See ya at Siesta Fiesta!

  15. Just in case you want some table-made guacamole a little closer to home the new Mexican restaurant at Bridge Street in Huntsville (Cantina Laredo) makes the guacamole at your table. And while it’s not authentic enough to actually BE in Texas it is pretty good food! Have fun in San Antonio!

  16. Be sure and go to the downtown market while you’re there. I got the most beautiful little nativity there a few years ago. Enjoy some guacamole for me!

  17. Well, down here in these Texas parts, we say soda! I grew up in Missouri, it is known as pop up there!!! Have fun in San Antonio! It is really pretty there!

  18. You made me so homesick I’m fixin to well up and rain. I really miss Texas. Have fun! They’ll treat ya so many ways you’ll have to like one of them!

  19. You are speaking my love languages today – college football and amazing race (and Biggest Loser and the hills) have me wound up with giddiness!!! Can you stand it?
Wish I was going to be in SA to meet you and eat some quacamole. Have fun and post lots of pics!

  20. Welcome to Texas! It’s a grand place.

And I had to have a moment of silence about you tasting tex-mex for the first time. You will never be the same.

And the guacamole made at the table? It will be a holy moment. I guarantee.

  21. You will fall in LOVE with the Tex-Mex! I just can’t have it often enough. Of course I have to limit myself or they’d have to roll me out the door. Ha!
    Have fun!

  22. BooMama,
I love your blog. When I read it, I feel like I am reading the blog of one of my favorite relatives. Where in Alabama are you? I just realized the other day you lived in Bama. I share your love for College Football (8 days to go), The Office and The Amazing Race (if you ever want a partner, give me a ring). Hope you have an AMAZING time in Texas.

  23. It’s funny – I was just talking to a friend yesterday about the different words for “soda.” (Coke, pop, tonic, soda pop, etc)

What do you say, if you don’t say “soda”?

Enjoy your Tex-Mex! It’s just as good as you’re imagining :)

  24. Have we covered the topic of what we call fizzy sugared water here on BooMama.com?

From my experience, the Western U.S. says soda, the Northern-Middle U.S. says pop and the Southeastern U.S. says Coke. (Trademarks be darned!)

So what do you call it Sophie?

(This is all an attempt to block out the fact that I’m not going to be at the Siesta Fiesta. In person, anyway.)

  25. Lawsie, I wish I would have been at your gate. My flight left B’ham at 7 a.m. and people were waaaaay too giddy (and THAT’S being nice).

I am sitting across from someone in DFW airport who I am pretty sure is a Siesta. I think I’m gonna ask…

But before I do…I am so pumped about the Amazing Race, too! See you in San Antonio, girl…

  26. Have fun! Enjoy a pop for me. Diet coke over ice, of course. :)

  27. I am almost 100% sure I know where you are going to eat lunch and OH girl let me tell you that it is GOOD! And the guacamole is HEAVENLY!!

And I think I might have to go get myself a SODA (I say soda and I live in the south) to cry that I am going to miss everyone this weekend! Have a blast!!

  28. Um, it is soda. That’s what it is. I am from St. Louis, and we are the last word on this.

I had been so sure that there would be no new season of The Amazing Race (despite all the Emmy wins, they’re always in peril of getting canceled since it’s so expensive to produced), but then I got a call from my best friend and watching buddy saying September 28! Squee!

  29. I’m from the Northwest and out here we call it a “pop” mostly but when I visited Florida the server at a restaurant offered my sis a “soda” like 3 times before I had to clarify to her what he was asking. I thought “soda” was a southern thing. Guess I was wrong.

  30. Sophie’s comin’ to Texas, Sophie’s comin’ to Texas…

    (doing my happydance)

I’ll be leaving Austin in just a little while to drive to San Antonio m’self. Just as soon as I get me some BBQ at the best BBQ place around, which is opening a BRAND NEW one right next to me instead of almost an hour away.

Talk about giddy. Can’t. Stand. It!

    See you soon!

  31. Just love it when Big and Boo collide! So fun to read about Tex Mex (and the enthusiastic consumption) from 2 of my favorite blogs. Have a great journey!

  32. I’ve moved from where it’s called “pop” to where it’s called “coke” even if it’s Pepsi, and now where it’s called “soda.”

We live in a strange land.

  33. My SIL got me addicted to guacamole!! Curses to her…not enough advocados in the world:-)

The soda/pop thing is weird. I grew up in Southeastern Wisconsin where it is soda and spent 5 years in Northwestern Wisconsin where it is pop. Now, I am totally confused:-(

  34. Yes Yes Yes!!!
    I live in Indiana now….and where we come from…..south Florida….all carbonated drinks are called C O K E !!!!!!!!
We say, “You wanna coke?” person responds with “yes”…. We then say, “What kind?”….meaning…Sprite, Coke, Mt.Dew, Dr. Pepper???!!!

Pop & Soda are yankee terms to us…..sounds icky! My husband refuses to allow them spoken in our home..haha.
We also say, yes ma’am/no ma’am and Sir or Ma’am!!!!! No yeah or huh? Period! It’s polite manners!

    Southern roots…..they are deep!

  35. The guac is at On The Border. You must go there at least once. Try the chicken flautas. :)

  36. I say “soda” but live in a region that mostly says “pop”.

  37. Everything fizzy is a coke – even Dr. Pepper is a coke. anyhow – I would like to highly recommend a fancy place for your guacamole experience – you will enjoy the at the table experience and they will be gracious with bringing food articles containing vast amounts of cheeses. http://www.boudros.com
Glad to have you here in the great state of Texas – and delighted to hear Howard is a great waker upper – I take the Bible literally when it talks about “early in the morning Jesus . . ” good enough for Him so ideal for me!

  38. Ohhh my – please have some fajitas for me. In Virginia we have NO good mexican food. The best fajitas I’ve had in my life were at the river walk in San Antonio. Oh, and I am a coke gal – although my husband and daughter say soda…but they are both much more southern then I will ever be.

  39. *gasp* Amazing Race is starting and here I am with no tv currently. I wonder if they’ll be showing it online?! I love that show. Off to find more details :)

  40. Once again I am living vicariously through you, you World-Traveler, you, so please, please have a GREAT time for the both of us! :0)

  41. I’m sure the other Texans will agree with me when I say that Tex-Mex is the reason we deal with the heat!

  42. Authentic Tex-Mex sounds SO good right now! I visited San Antonio a year ago and truly enjoyed all the lip-smacking yumminess of my Tex-Mex experience. Have a fun-filled weekend…can’t wait to see the pictures!

  43. Fun…and then some :). There’s little doubt that the blast has already begun…pace yourself!

  44. Boudros on the Riverwalk has the best guacamole ever – and they make it at the table! It’s a pricey place to eat, but their Prickly Pear margaritas and Coconut Shrimp are also incredible! Enjoy ;-)

  45. Oh Sophie, you slay me! ;) The entire Texperience can only be matched by a trip to N’awlins! I understand! As we say, Lassiez le bon temps roulez!
(let the good times roll ;)

  46. just checked in after a long absence here (back in the Compassion trip days, your site would crash my work pc, so i had to stop visiting – i’ve got a Compassion girl of my own now, natch), and this entry is exactly WHY i always wish i had a laptop with me at the airport. instead, i just have to sit there and have all of this self-dialogue about my surroundings in my head. on my flight this past weekend, i was all worked up over wanting to take a picture of the great style the chick next to me had (black suede bowed round-toe wedges and a huge metallic silver purse), but then i thought she and everyone around me would think i was sort of strange (i am, but i didn’t want to make it that obvious)…lol.

(ps…you MAY remember me from being the girl you sent the bbq place info to, for my trip to Birmingham i was making :P we LOVED that place with the “pig in a potato patch” things, and of course i’m going back in a month or so and can’t remember the name of the joint)

  47. Welcome to Texas! (I’m assuming that you’ll be here by the time you read this.) I actually came *this* close to going with you guys since I’m in Austin, but had an unfortunate schedule conflict. Can’t wait to hear all about it! I know I’ll be insanely jealous when I read y’all’s updates.

  48. Have a wonderful time and eat lots and lots of queso and guac. Speaking of football season….what about a post of favorite foods for pre and post game. Oh help me Jesus my mouth is already watering!

  49. Have a great time in Texas! Soda is a little better than pop.
I am chomping at the bit for some SEC football and The amazing Race!!

  50. Wow, is Texas really ready for you gals to meet up and paint the town?! ;D

We have Amazing Race marked on the calendar even! Can’t wait.

I’m originally from Minnesota, and we said pop. Though when I hopped across the river and went to college in Wisconsin, it seemed to be half and half, some said pop (those from the west half of the state it seemed) and some said soda (east half of the state). When I moved to Arizona, so many people said soda, that I just sort of picked it up. I always figured soda was an east coast thing, pop was a midwest thing, and Coke was just a southern thing (first experienced that in Atlanta, thought maybe it was because, with Coke being based there and all, that’s all that places served, but imagine my surprise when I asked for a Coke and was served a Pepsi in Atlanta).

    Go have fun now!

  51. Hope you enjoy your time here in the GREAT state! :)

  52. What’s a soda? I hear it’s a lot like a Coke.

  53. Bailey's Leaf says:

    B-Mama,

I’m from Ohio. South of Columbus in our great state it is called SODA. In NE Ohio, it is called POP. But I did go to Chicago, ordered a pop and I think that they thought I wanted thunked in the head. It would confuse the death out of me to come down south (but yes, I’ve been there before) and order COKE. Up here, that is, um, something else. So, how do you order fizzy lifting drinks that are other than Coca Cola? I mean, do you order Sprite or do you just say, “I’ll take the CLEAR COKE please?” Clearly, I’m confused.

But here in NE Ohio, we have tree lawns. I know that they are devil strips other places, but they are tree lawns.

We have sprinkles on our ice cream, but I do believe that it is Pennsylvania that calls them jimmies. Why? They are sprinkles through and through. Or, are jimmies different sprinkles than sprinkles? (We’re talking the long sugary sprinkly bars vs. balls or just colored sugar.)

I do know that when I was in Alabama once, I had a horrible time understanding the man at the gas station. But then, when we went on our honeymoon to Hilton Head, the waitress at a restaurant couldn’t understand a word that I said. She made my husband order for me. Apparently, I speak too fast. No obvious accent (at least to those of us up north), but I talked too fast.

Should I add that I’ve been an Amazing Race drop out? You know, they added families and it was very whiney (sp?!) and back stabbing and I couldn’t take it anymore. Then I started watching Hell’s Kitchen. Now we’re questioning that because frankly, Chef Ramsey (or as K- calls him, Chef Pansy) screams way too much and is a bit more foul mouthed each season. Sweet Pete. What will I do with my fall television watching schedule? What shall I fold laundry to?

Have a nice trip! Eat good stuff for us. Report back. Pictures would be good, too! :)

  54. welcome to texas, boomama! i wish i could be there this weekend, but i’m stuck in Big D with other commitments. hope you have a fabulous time!

and remember our State Hair Motto: “The bigger your hair, the smaller your worries”.

    HA!

  55. Love your blog and your “adorableness”. Have a great time in Texas!!

  56. What’s a soda? :-)

We just call ’em all “cokes” around here!

  57. Dee from Tennessee says:

    Oh it’s Coke.

And tea is sweet with extra lemon please.

  58. I was so hoping you were on the same flight as I was, but, alas, you weren’t! Maybe you took a later flight and didn’t have a long layover in Memphis (with some lovely women ~ siestas! ~); and maybe you just got more than 2 hours of sleep last night because you weren’t stressing about sleeping through the alarm and missing your flight or that you were leaving your two kids to wake up on their own and get to school and would they really make it to school or just skip it? I hope I’ll get to see you soon (were your ears burning? we were talking about meeting you!)!!!

    Cathy

  59. 5. College football and a new season of The Amazing Race are right around the corner. I am understandably giddy.

And The Office!!! don’t forget about the Office!!

And remember: the hotter you eat, the hotter you get.

  60. CMartin21 says:

Welcome to the great LONE STAR STATE, Boo Mama! Hubby and I just celebrated our 20th anniversary with a brief trip to San Antonio from our home here in the DFW area. You will have a hard time choosing a Tex-Mex place down there, let me tell you. There are SOOOOOO many great ones. I second the comment on eating some fajitas. I go into withdrawal if I go more than a week without some. And there are lots of places that make guacamole tableside now. Heck, I ate at a steakhouse in the stockyards yesterday and they had it! BTW, in this neck of the woods, we order drinks by the brand name…I’ll have a Coke, Dr. Pepper, Pepsi, etc.

  61. Well if you have a lay-over at DFW let me know and I’ll come keep you company! I’m just 15 minutes from the airport and love to meet me some people!!!

  62. I’m just about 2 hours away in Houston and I’m a little envious. Missy at Its Almost Naptime suggested I join her (and you) this weekend for this little Siesta Fiesta and I’m staying home instead. Bummer. I know ya’ll will have so much fun.

Guess I’ll read all about it.

And, by the way, fresh delicious salsa is even better than the guac. Yum-Yum!! And a margarita makes it even muy bueno!

  63. My list:
    1. I miss my wife who also flew to San Antone today.

    2. Would you be my partner for next year’s Amazing Race? I figure they coud label us “Interracial Blogging Strangers.” (“Interracial” because you’re from the south and I’m not.). You wouldn’t find better TV than that.

  64. Yeah, ’cause we all know it’s all “Coke” in the south.

Eat some real Tex-Mex food for me. I SO miss living in Texas with good Mexican food!

  65. I have just got to tell you that you are my newest imaginary BFF! Just the way you type is so much like the way we talk. I mean, saying “Y’all” in italics in a sentence by itself. I would totally do that in a conversation! And the guy with the capital letters in his job – SO there with ya! AND, around here any kind of carbonated beverage is a Coke. Including Pepsi, Mt Dew, RC Cola (which can only be consumed with a Moon Pie), etc. Some of the older fogies will say “Coke-ohler” Anyway, you’re very entertaining.

  66. You are in TEXAS? I have to come and meet you, girl! I’m within an hour or two from San Antonio. Are you going to stop in at Austin by any chance? Let me know.

P.S. Please add your list to my list linky this week! I’d be honored.

*see url below* (I have no idea if this blog will allow html coding)

    http://sbees.blogspot.com/2008/08/getting-things-done.html

  67. Have fun … I’m way jealous! Perhaps a snack of diet soda and a handful of peh-cahns (pecans) will make me feel better.

Who am I kidding I need a diet coke, and unless those peh-cahns have chocolate on them, I won’t even bother. Enjoy the gauc!

  68. y’all are gonna have a great time! wish i could be there!

  69. So, I’m from the midwest, and we say soda. But my MIL, who claims southern but has really lived in the midwest her entire adult life, calls them cold drinks. It always confuses me. There are lots of drinks that I would like cold. Milk, tea, water, soda. All cold. It took me awhile to get the hang of it.

But truly, as long as I am near a Sonic and it is between the magical 2-4pm happy hour, I don’t really care what you call it, I’m a happy woman.

  70. You don’t know me but I just started following your very entertaining, compelling blog. I had to write to tell you to go and eat at Chris Madrid’s in San Antonio if you haven’t ever been. Great burgers and nice hole in the wall. You would enjoy it I think even though I don’t really know you, it’s a safe guess.

    Have fun in Texas.
    Andrea (from Big D)

  71. Just came from San Antonio a while back (I live in Texas, but further north) and Boudrous on the Riverwalk has the most excellent guacamole and they make it at your table. Get a table early though…they fill up fast! You’ll love it!!!

  72. I guess the only think tex mex about my suggestion was the guys name. But I couldn’t resist sending you there b/c it’s really worth it. You can find great tex mex on every corner in SA so I’m sure that you’ll be o.k. on that front.

Enjoy your trip and ask for a coke and you should be fine. In Dallas we forgo soda or pop and call everything under the carbonated beverage umbrella “coke” for some reason. Hope it’s not too hot for ya!

  73. Hey! I haven’t been checking in with you lately because I thought you were “taking August off”, but I see you are back!! Great to hear what’s been going on with you.

I just wanted to thank you for #5 on your list: the return of college football (YES!) and Amazing Race. For some reason, hardly anyone I know is ever excited about the return of Amazing Race. ? Thank goodness we’ve had the Olympics to watch these last 2 weeks. Now the countdown can truly begin!!! : )

  74. Wow, quite a list BooMama. Hope your first Tex-Mex is wonderful. But if you want to have real guacamole made fresh at your table, you need to come a bit farther west and try it in NM. Really.

Hope you have a great trip! San Antonio is wonderful.

  75. I am so excited to see pictures…….. I am stuck at home with my 2 broken ankles… looking forward to see what I missed!!! boo hoo!!

    love all, Leigh

  76. Enjoy your stay here! :-)

  77. I thought all americans called it “a soda”. We call it “pop” here in most of Canada. what do you say if not “a soda”?

And yes, I am all about The Amazing Race! Woot!

  78. Hi Boo Mama,

You gotta say HI to all my amigas down thar in San An-to-nio. I live in GA now, but was born and raised in South Texas.

YOU MUST EAT AT CASA RIO ON THE RIVERWALK.

    There. I said my peace.

And – if you want fast food, GET WHATABURGER! Oh, I’m so jealous. :-)
My MIL lives in San Antonio and called me the other day JUST to tell me she was eating Whataburger. Cruel. Just cruel.

    Have a great weekend!

  79. I’ve lived in many places so I’ve had to adapt to many name changes for carbonated beverages. Right now we live in ND so it’s “pop.” My 16 year old insists that it’s “soda.” Her form of rebellion. In England, we had to call it fizzy drinks.

    Beth

  80. Welcome to Texas! Hope you enjoy your stay…I am in HOT HOUSTON and couldn’t make it to SA. Enjoy your guac and save room for the fried tacos! Stay hydrated to keep from melting!!!!

    Blessings!

  81. Boo- The Moore girls love you like crazy. We truly hope that we will get to be your peeps in the Kingdom.

  82. BooMama, I found your blog through Ragamuffin soul last night! What a blessing. My 13 year old now thinks you are amazing and our family just sponsored a child through Compassion :) Yay you!

  83. Hey Boo,
Welcome to my State!! I’m here in Mansfield and have had some of that good guac made at at the table many times!
I hope you just love San Antonio, my girl was born there, in a hospital right by the River walk!

  84. Aah yes! Our use of the word for carbonated beverages is a dead giveaway as to regionality. I grew up with “Soda”. Up here everyone says “Coke”. We have Pepsi “Coke”, and Dr. Pepper “Coke” and Orangina “Coke” and even Coca Cola “Coke. Imagine that!!! In a restaurant. when you ask for “Coke”. You might get the answer, “We have Pepsi. Is that okay.” I’ve been tempted to answer, “Sure. I”ll have Pepsi “Coke”. Which would get me a strange look, because everyone knows the question is a courtesy. We understand that “coke” is code for “carbonate caffeinated beverage in a dark color.” I don’t know what would happen though if you ask those guys hanging out on the corner for “coke”. I have a feeling it wouldn’t come in a styrofoam to-go cup!

  85. So, you don’t me but that is okay, that is what bloggin’ is all about about, am I right??

I just wanted to let you know that I am hoping the Siesta Fiesta was AWESOME! I can’t wait to hear about it and live through you for a minute.

    Love your blog.

PS – I am stressed for the diagram man now too – yuck.

  86. Samantha says:

How does saying,”a soda” identify someone as from out of town? I’m curious what else one would say. I’m from New York, if that helps explain my confusion. :-)

  87. What a great post! Texas girl here – through and through. I thought I’d never leave Texas and made a move to NE Oklahoma this past March. No big deal, right? Ha!! They say soda and pop here! Holy moly! Boy, was I shocked. I AM still in the south, correct? I am another one that won’t say anything but “coke” – for every drink similar to it. It is a very midwestern feel here and I shore do miss my Texas home. Eat good and have seconds for me, girl. There’s simply nothing like some good ol Tex-Mex.

  88. Boo- My name is Kaci (well, duh, I already put that didn’t I?) and I saw you from a distance at the Fiesta. I just now read that you are a Mississippi State sports fan – GIRLFRIEND! I am a 1999 graduate of that amazing place and love me some sports – specifically football even if we’ve had a few tough years here and there. We bleed maroon and white hard here (I married a fellow grad) in Fort Worth and miss the southeast somethin’ awful. I wish I would have known – we could have sung proudly for all around! Anyway, I was going to email you, but you said you rarely reply so I figured this was better. Anyway, I would love to know if/when you were at State and such. I feel a special connection – we Bulldogs always do, right? (By the way, I was the last questioner – the one who worked with her mom and dad…just to give you an idea if you remember that at all. I forgot to say where I was from and give my blog name and such…imagine, forgetting something after having 2 kids!) Okay – hopefully we can chat some time – my blog is http://www.kkskipper.blogspot.com

  89. I come from the Heartland (Kansas) and we call it coke. Or at least I do. I’m not real sure I’ve ever heard anyone else discuss it. I drink a lot of diet coke and I’m here to tell you, you get a lot of attention when you hoist your coke can high and say “I’m a coke addict” in the middle of a McDonalds. Do you think they thought I meant something else?

  90. In CA we say soda, so you must be saying… pop? Or… cola?

  91. AMAZING RACE!!!! I SO love that show. I’m right there with you, waiting with much anticipation.

Hubby and I talk about how fun it would be to be on that show… and how it would be the end of our marriage. =0|
