Compassion Goes To India

Hey y’all –

I’m hanging out with my sister-in-law this weekend, but I wanted to hop on here for just a second and tell you that Compassion is gearing up for its next bloggers’ trip – this time to Calcutta, India. If you’re a blogger and would like to be considered for the trip, click on over to the Compassion Bloggers site.

If you aren’t familiar with the previous bloggers’ trips to Uganda and the Dominican Republic, you can read about those right here.

Hope y’all have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Wow! This is really interesting! I had read your story about Compassion trips and I was really moved. If I weren’t scheduled to give birth in the next 6 months I would love to go. Off to check out the site!

  2. Love your heart for missions!

  3. Two of the children we sponsor (through my husband’s Sunday School class) live in India! I’m going to have a look at the site.

  4. Just reading that made me cry. What an amazing opportunity.

So I keep wondering- do you LOVE LOVE LOVE Brooke Frasier’s Albertine?

  5. I just started reading your blog recently. I stumbled upon it through another blog (annieblogs.com). I noticed you are in Birmingham…and you love Mississippi State sports. I too am in Birmingham and I bleed maroon and white. I graduated from Mississippi State with my undergrad degree in ’05 and my graduate degree in December of ’06. I come from a long line of Bulldogs.

I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your blog. It’s on my blogroll and I look forward to reading it everyday. No pressure. Haha!

Thank you for sharing your life…and wittiness.

  6. What happened to the links for all the tour of homes? I was so enjoying looking at them. I had made it through about 250…but still had many to go.

  7. Found the links…sorry for the question.
Enjoying looking at all the homes.

  8. Okay. Third time India has been in my face this week. I was challenged earlier in the week to just commit to GO to the country God placed on my heart. Then this post….I filled out the info form and we’ll see what God does….mercy.

  9. Thanks for letting us know about this! My 2-year-old daughter, adopted from an orphanage in Kolkata, has been home with us for just over a year. I can’t wait to follow the bloggers and see what they’re doing — parts of the city are very cosmopolitan and vibrant, but those realities exist right alongside extreme poverty, homelessness, the AIDS epidemic and illiteracy.

  10. I’m relatively new to the blog, so hadn’t heard about Compassion Bloggers till now. It really got me thinking. I’m the mom of a disabled child, and because I’ve spent so much time caring for him (and his little sis) these last six years, I haven’t done the volunteer work I’ve always loved to do. Now I’m fantasizing about going to India. Or, at least getting back into more local volunteer work. Thanks for the inspiration.

  11. BooMama, could you pray for me? I’d really like to be selected to go on this trip.

We have sponsored children thru Compassion since 1991 and I’ve been a Compassion adovocate for seven years. Also, we currently sponsor a little girl in India.

Praying with you. Whether I go on the trip or not, may this trip result in many many more children sponsored through Compassion.

  12. Ooo-Ooo-Ooo! Our little sponsored girlie is NEAR Calcutta!!! Ooo-Ooo-Ooo!
