– “Winter Snow” by Audrey Assad has been the subject of two different conversations with friends this week. It’s an absolutely beautiful Christmas song – and I don’t think I’ve listened to it once without immediately listening to it again.
– This post of Jon’s got an “amen” out of me this morning. Before I’d had any coffee, even.
– This post of Beth’s is just chock full of wisdom and perspective.
– A couple of years ago Shannon recommended The Jesus Storybook Bible. I didn’t order it at the time – thinking I’d get it when Alex was a little older – and then I promptly forgot about it. Because I’m organized like that.
Well, this past Monday night Andrew Peterson read from that very book at the beginning of his concert, and my friend Keely mentioned how great it is. So I ordered it the next day. And yesterday, when the box from Amazon arrived, I sat down in the middle of my living room floor so I could read it. By page three my eyes were all watery. It’s incredible.
Oh, I so love the Jesus Storybook Bible! Definitely causes watery eyes over here, too!
I bought the Jesus Storybook Bible when I found out I was going to be “Gran Jan.” I love it so much. It’s good for big people too – not just little ones. So precious to read.
Loved Beth’s post too – she’s an amazing writer – she paints such visual pictures for me.
Did you get that laundry done? Bless your heart…
You’re so much fun!
Have a good weekend.

Oh, Boomama… Angie (smith) gave us the storybook bible a year ago as a gift and i feel the exact same way about it. when we read the resurrection story last easter i had to stop because i was so overcome with emotion…. it is truly a gift to Alex!
I adore the Storybook Bible. It is seriously a life-changing way of looking at the entire Bible – I LOVE it! :-)
The first time I got the Jesus Storybook Bible and read to the kids about the Fall, I couldn’t read out loud anymore, I was too choked up. It is absolutely gorgeous. The kiddos love it too.
I love Stuff Christians Like! I have almost bought the Storybook Bible a million times from Amazon. I bet if I could have seen it in person I would have already done it. I’m so glad you like it! I’ll be ordering it soon!
1. HAve that song on repeat and then some.
2. Can’t get enough SCL. That man is brilliant.
3. MUST GET THAT STORYBOOK BIBLE. Seriously it is all anyone can talk about and I need to get on the ball!!
I am a Children’s Ministry Director and I absolutely LOVE the Jesus storybook Bible. It tells the Bible stories with the beautiful thread of redemption woven through. It is a passion of mine that children don’t just learn Bible stories–but also the Big Story of God’s redemptive love. Awesome…glad you got one. Don’t you love the illustrations?? I don’t know that song…I’m off to listen. And SCL. Love that too. Great links.
Thanks for sharing! A beautiful song, 2 great posts (WOW) and yes the Storybook Bible is great!
Hope you are having a wonderfully blessed weekend.
Blessings always,
Kaye
Matthew 21:22
I just saw her perform “Winter Snow” live tonight at the Louie/Chris concert. She was great and the concert was the best I’ve ever been too. I used to go to Louie’s Bible Studies when about 40 of us from Baylor showed up in an apartment meeting room to hear him. Awesome to see how the Lord is and has used him.
oooo so glad you ordered it!! I actually read through a bit of mine yesterday. . .its great! love it!
And Audrey Assad. . .all i can say is yep! amazing!
I had to tell you that I DID order “The Jesus Storybook Bible” a while ago when Shannon suggested it. And my boys love it. Actually, we are, err…, on our THIRD copy. The first two copies were well-loved until the cover fell off and pages were falling out. We read it every single day.
My middle son is getting that Bible for Christmas! I couldn’t resist ordering it after the way two of my friends were gushing over how amazing it is. Can’t wait to start reading it with him!
I totally agree with all of the comments about the Jesus Storybook Bible! It’s now my standard baby shower gift. My two children love it as well…. it is hard for me to read out loud sometimes! Each story ends by pointing to Christ- even the Old Testament stories make the connection to the Messiah and God’s plan. I highly, highly recommend this book!
I went to the Glory in the Highest concert on Saturday in Houston. That song is AMAZING. Her voice! The words! Beautiful!!!
My 7 year old son and I are currently reading the Jesus Storybook Bible and love it too! I love how it takes the Old Testament stories and then relates it to Jesus. Fabulous book!!
When Shannon recommended it I bought it that afternoon. My husband and kids all read it before bed many nights. I love it and totally recommend it to people who ask me about devotional type books for the pre-school set (though my 9 year old also enjoys it as much as my two year old!)
I do not mean to brag, but I could do Miss Kentucky’s dance-if I wanted to. Ha!
Blessings!
