Every once in awhile we’ll have a weekend where, at the end of it, I think, That was just what I needed. And this weekend was definitely one of those. I had dinner with friends Friday night, a whole day in pajamas Saturday, church with my family this morning, a post-lunch nap, some great talks/emails/texts with people I love to pieces, and two hours of Jack Bauer tonight.
(And speaking of Jack Bauer, I need a quick “24” aside to say the following:
1) What was up with Freddie Prinze’s accent? It troubled me. It was like Helen Hunt in “As Good As It Gets” – the accent sort of floated in and out with varying degrees of New Yorkness, and it was a total distraction.
2) If you’re a person who has just blown up a helicopter and is also a part of an assassination plot, I’m thinking that it’s probably not a great idea to have a conversation on your cell phone where you’re saying things like, “We took out the helicopter, but now we’ve got to kill Hassad” while you amble down the crowded streets of New York City. BECAUSE SOMEONE MIGHT OVERHEAR YOU.
3) Tonight was like CTU 2.0. And all those new kids tried to make it seem like Chloe and Jack were antiquated relics who didn’t know how to use a push-button phone, and I took offense to that, quite frankly.
4) When will Jack Bauer realize that any time he is supposed to personally escort someone to meet with government officials, the situation is always going to end in gunfire?
5) I realized about 30 minutes into the show that the actor playing President Hassad was the same guy who played the game show host in Slumdog Millionaire. It had been driving me crazy trying to figure out who he was, and once I had my a-ha moment, well, THE RELIEF WAS PALPABLE.
Okay. That’s all. As you were.)
Anyway, the only thing that would’ve made the weekend any better would have been if the founder of Popeye’s had come to my house and fried up some chicken, but then again, it might’ve been too much. No need for joy overload. Much better to pace myself.
I was thinking yesterday about how a whole day in pajamas is one of my most favorite things in the whole wide world. In fact, if I’m really in relaxation mode, I love to wake up, stay in my pajamas all day, then take a shower before bed and put on new pajamas. I can be very productive on a pajama day, mind you – yesterday I probably washed and folded 104 or 216 loads of laundry while we watched basketball and screamed at the TV like a bunch of hillbilly sports fans. But the pajamas are my way of saying I am not leaving the house today. I have no plans. I am easy-breezy and by the way, there must be no make-up products of any kind anywhere near my face.
Also: I am likely to nap at a moment’s notice.
However, I know that some people don’t like pajama days. Some people like to put on real clothes as soon as they get out of bed in the morning because they say that staying in pajamas makes them feel lazy. Why, some people even walk around their house wearing shoes that have laces and stuff. I personally only walk around my house in sock feet, flip flops or slippers because shoes with laces make me feel confined, but that is probably not at all a surprise since clearly I obviously enjoy as much elastic as possible when relaxation is top priority.
And I really do think that the bottom line for me is this: a relaxing day at home is heaven on earth to me, maybe even higher on the heaven on earth list than bacon. And that is saying something.
So now I’m wondering: are you a pajama day person or not? Would you willingly spend your whole day in pajamas if you didn’t have to leave your house? Or do you feel like you at least have to dress a little bit if you’re home – maybe throw on some jeans or some workout clothes?
And let’s go even deeper: if you don’t have to be anywhere during the day, are you going to put on make-up anyway?
OH, I am all about the hard-hitting questions. And I’ll be sitting here in my pajamas and no make-up whatsoever just waiting to hear what you have to say.

Oh, I love pajama days! They don’t come around very often, but I do love them! If I don’t have to go anywhere…NO makeup! Sometimes if I just have to run one or two quick errands….still NO makeup! Try to get away with it whenever I can! :)
btw, I hope your son has the day off from school tomorrow like we do…extended weekend! Gotta love that too!!
You know, I think Flylady.net got to me. I do put on shoes that lace. And I wear make-up. But only because I have blonde eyelashes and without mascara, I look sick. Seriously, people will ask me if I’m sick. PJ’s is tough to answer. I homeschool, so part of me longs to wear jammies all day just because I can. But another part says to put clothes on and not act like a homeschool freak. So I’m torn on that great debate.
I have four kids under five so pajama days are almost normal for me! I’m a little sad becuase my eldest starts school in one week and I’ll have to get dressed to do the drop-off. Make-up is on only if I”m going somewhere flash. The corner shop doesn’t count. Target does. You get the picture.
I am a SAHM, so pajamas all day are part of my job description. However, we just moved to a new house back in the fall and we’re right smack in the middle of town, so I never know if people are just gonna pop in. I assumed they wouldn’t, since nobody ever did at my old house, but I was quite surprised when the wife of the President of the University around the corner knocked on my door a few weeks back – welcoming me to the neighborhood. I was still in pj’s, didn’t have on a stitch of make-up, no bra, and I may or may not have brushed my teeth yet. I was mortified. And while most normal people may have done such things by 11 am, I had not. However, It is worth mentioning that the lady was extremely sweet, and I am pleased as punch to have such great neighbors. But I learned my lesson… at least put on appropriate undergarments, or you will be left stiffly crossing your arms throughout your entire conversation.
Love me some pj days! I also agree %100 about the shoes….I have been known to frequent the Walmarts in my slippers!
If I am at home, I am in my pajamas WITHOUT EXCEPTION!! A combo of t-shirt and pajama pants are the best thing going and I never wear makeup at home…actually, I barely wear it out. I know this makes me sound like a slob, but I am a presentable person to the outside world :o)
Love a pj day but I must make my bed and put on clean pjs before getting back into bed for the night. Sometimes it starts to get to me about 5 pm and I go change then. But I am productive on pj days too.
No shoes in the house. eww. slippers or socks definitely
And definitely no makeup on a pj day. I love to think I’m giving my skin a break on those days. I don’t know if it helps or not but I like to think so.
I am a sweatpants and no makeup girl…..if I’m in my house, this is what I’m wearing. My husband saw me in real clothes the other day, and almost had a heart attack.
Nope sorry, can’t do it, must shower and dress as soon as my feet hit the floor in the morning.
I will say if I am staying at home all day I don’t bother with make up.
i love me a jammer day and if i know there’s no chance of being seen by anyone other than my immediate family, make it is major no no too!!
Totally a pajama day girl. Any day to not dress, not put on the makeup OR the bra are happy, happy days!
Oh my word, that guy on 24 was bugging us too!
AND, we figured out that the head of CTU was Forrest Gump’s friend, Bubba, AND the bad guy with the Russian accent was snivelling Percy from The Green Mile.
All that figgerin’ along with Jack’s antics, was exhausting!
DEFINITELY a pajama day girl with no makeup or shoes. Those are the best and I fully agree that you can be very productive in pjs.
Pajamas went on as soon as we got home from church yesterday. Very productive in PJ’s AND took a nap. Life is good.
OK, I know that this is probably completely weird, but I’ve only ever had ONE pajama day in my entire adult life! (Not counting days that I’ve been sick. And even then I usually at least change from the PJ’s that I actually slept in.) The day that I DID stay in my PJ’s was last year, the day after Thanksgiving when I was putting out my Christmas decorations. I realized at about 10:00 that I hadn’t gotten dressed, and made a conscious decision AT THAT MOMENT that I was going to stay in my jammies ALL DAY, simply because I’d never done that. And I did, and I was very proud of myself.
But I’ve never done it since then.
Now, shoes are a totally different thing. I never wear shoes at home. Which is why my feet are like crocodile feet in the summer.
I’m all for pajama days, without makeup or any kind of normalizing of my hair. I work from home occasionally. I have been known to crawl out of bed and over to my computer and work the full day in my pjs. How cool is that? After a full day of jammies, do you know what makes bathing and changing into clean jammies at night even better????? Having clean sheets that you washed during the day on that bed that you are climbing into!
I can’t do it. Even if I know I’m staying home, I have to get dressed. Of course, I’m not sure that old Levi’s, a grey college t-shirt, and tennis shoes is really much of a step up from pajamas but you know what? Wearing pajamas in the daytime makes me feel like I’m sick. Same as drinking Sprite or watching The Price is Right.
I cannot function without taking a shower in the morning… it’s my morning coffee.
But I would happily shower and put clean jammies on and be happy for the rest of the day!
I got a kick out of what you said about the founder of Popeye’s coming to your house to fry chicken – only because he now lies among the dearly departed! I came home last night after spending the weekend in Metairie. Saturday night was our “Popeye’s fried chicken night”. The house that my husband’s company furnishes him with is located just a few blocks away from the famous Al Copeland home and one of his famous Popeye’s restaurants. The food and the service there is like none other. It is absolutely awesome!!! He is still very much revered in the New Orleans area. They continue to put his Christmas lights and displays out during the holidays. There is also a storefront in Metairie where all (or at least some) of his “toys” are on display for all the world to see: boats, trucks, motorcycles… you name it. So… I am thankful that Al Copeland did NOT pay you a visit this weekend, however, if you are ever in Metairie I would love to take you to the best Popeye’s Fried Chicken Restaurant that you will ever eat at!!
I love a pajama day, but I don’t get a full day very often. However, the first thing when I come home in the evening is put on my sweats (which are my pj’s) and then I can relax. Make-up – no way. In fact, Saturdays are my make-up free day even if we’re going out to lunch and running errands. Now, if I have something important to do, I’ll put on make-up, but otherwise, I give it a rest. I guess this is my way of saying, this is my day and I’ll look how I want. Or probably it’s just that I’m to lazy to put it on. lol
You sound like you had a wonderful weekend!
I love me a good pajama day! In fact, I’m feeling one today….hooray!!!!! And, no make-up. I agree with you, also, that I can be quite productive on a pajama day. I’m planning on doing laundry, cleaning the bathroon, preparing Sufficient Grace shipments, and doing more laundry. Oh…and there may also be some Mario Kart on the Wii with my youngest son as we enjoy our marvelous day off in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Have a good one, Boo Mama! We plan on it!
P.S. I will, however, get dressed with make-up before my husband comes home at supper time…or at least that’s the plan!!! =)
We all are big fans of pj day. My husband usually walks in from where he has been (work, church, etc.) and puts on pjs. He’s all about the comfort. I will wear them all day, but I usually have to wash my face and put concealer under my eyes so I don’t scare my people, and I’m good to go. My kids would never wear real clothes if I didn’t make them. So are we lazy?? Maybe so. But we are comfy!
THANK YOU for finally helping me figure out who Pres Hassad was. It was driving me crazy too. And as for the rest of your 24 insights, I say a hearty AMEN!!
Yes, I am a pajama day girl. In fact, I wrote a song to sing to my kids for days such as that…”stayin’ in our jammies…all day long…” It’s not gonna be on Kidz Bop 1,298 or anything, but its a good song and when they hear it they know what to expect. I do, however, jump in the shower before my husband gets home from work.
I’ve noticed the degree of need to put on make-up “just because” has changed with each passing decade. In my 20’s, it was a must. I was trying to snag my husband. In my 30’s, it might happen…it might not. I had babies. In my 40’s, it ain’t happenin’ most days!
Lastly, while we are confessing things. I’ve never watched 24 and my favorite scene in Slumdog Millionaire was the dance sequence as the credits rolled. And still it will never compare to the African Anteater Ritual in “Can’t Buy Me Love.” There, I said it.
Have a great day, friend!
Blessings,
Dori
I can definitely stay in my p.j.’s all day with no make-up if we’re not going anywhere. And I, too, love to shower and then put on a clean pair before bed. Soooo relaxing!
I love a PJ day, but I hardly ever can stand to stay in them all day. I usually get showered and dressed after lunch, because when I look in the mirror I scare myself. I also have to take the dogs out, and I feel like the neighbors are secretly judging me when I am in PJ’s at 2 in the afternoon (issues?).
I wish I could leave them on all day, actually, I have two sick kids today, so maybe this will be my breakthrough day??
I know you are hanging on the edge of your seat.. I will let you know how it turned out. You inspired me!
Oh how I wish EVERYDAY was Pajama day!! There’s not much better. And I would probably go as far as to place bacon underneath pajama day on the list (even though I’m sure bacon is the 6th love language).
Make-up? Puh-leease. If I’m going to town and only have one stop…I dare to not put the stuff on. If I have two stops…ok, might as well put it on. But a quick stop to the Piggly Wiggly? I don’t look to be running into anyone there who would dare mock me for the lack of make-up. Chances are, I’ll run into someone who had the same thought.
No pajama days here. When I’m in for the day I enjoy big jeans or a yoga pant paired with a tee, cardigan, and a Birkenstock clog.
And occassionaly a puffy down vest because it is super cold and this house is drafty.
Oh Boo! You are my sister from another mother, I tell ya!
Pajama days are my favorite thing too!
Matter of fact….. my friends and family tease me about my crazy love for all things pj day!
I change into them as soon as I get home from school! And NO……make-up is a no-no on pj day!
It totally means…..I’m here to stay and the world is a happy place because I’m freeeeeeee!
:)
Life is meant to be enjoyed, right?
When my kids were all little…..anytime I put clothes on them….they would say, “Where are we’s goin, Mama?”
Cause surely it meant we were leaving the house and pj-ville!
I know, don’t judge me!
I have to take a shower in the morning or I’m really feeling gross by noon which leads to massive amounts of irritability; quite the opposite affect that a jammie day is supposed to have.
If I’m feeling lazy I’ll shower right away in the morning and then climb into workout type clothes, sweats/yoga type pants, long sleeved t-shirt and tennis shoes (yes, they tie, I’m a pajama day failure).
I have two kids still in overnight pullups, so since I have to change them anyway they usually end up in sweats, too. A true pajama day never happens at my house.
All day pajamas is my favorite too! It’s like a vacation at home.I cook, read, watch tv shower and get in bed and read and watch tv!Somehow, a chore done in pajamas, doesn’t seem like a chore!
We absolutely LOVE pajama days at our house!! And my 9-year-old daughter knows that I don’t wear make-up on pajama days. Yesterday we came home from church and put our pajamas back on, and she said, “Mama, you’ve got make-up AND pajamas on!” Made me laugh that she noticed!
pj day all the way!! i love to bake and clean in my jammies..i’ve been known to wreck any item of clothing when i clean..so at least pjs..i can still wear..
First of all,…”the only thing that would’ve made the weekend any better would have been if the founder of Popeye’s had come to my house and fried up some chicken..” HAHAHAHA!!!
Secondly, when I get dressed my children ask, “Where are we going?” because I think I spend approximately 39% of my life in my pajamas. Why get clothes dirty? It would only mean that I have more laundry to do! ; )
And forget the make-up on those days because if my body is going to be a slob then my face wants to be a slob, too.
And, AND, I think it is hysterical that you AND Melanie have posted today about pajama days! You two are just the cutiest little peas in a pod I ever did see!
WELL, I SHO’ don’t have to answer that one! ;-)
I loved the part about showering and putting on new jammies – that is SO our family. The only thing that goes on my face is moisturzer because it is REALLY dry in Canada!
You always make me laugh and one day I will learn not to drink my tea while reading you, because it just gets spit (spat?) everywhere when I laugh.
I am one of those people that has to get up and get dressed (with lace up shoes!) every day. I cannot lounge in my pjs and I don’t know why. Even if I’m sick, I’ll still get dressed (no shoes, because every so often I’m wild and crazy like that) and lay on top of my made bed with an afghan over me.
Well now. That’s a bit more than you wanted to know.
I am a big fan of the pajama day. In fact, I might not ever leave my pajamas if the world did not put its cruel expectations upon me.
And no, I do not wear makeup around the house. Really only to church and stuff.
I almost always get dressed, MUST wear shoes (usually a clog of some kind) but don’t consider makeup to be essential.
I do like to put my jammies on again in the early evening and relax in them.
Today is pajama day at my house :). My daughter is watching cartoons, I’m baking pigs in a blanket and waiting on the coffee to brew. We’re going to watch movies and work in the nursery ALL day long. I’m not even going to think about mascara until tomorrow!
I know this makes me sound like a buttoned-up fuddy-duddy, but I have never, ever spent an entire day in my p.j.s. I’ve tried. I really have. On New Year’s Day I think I made it until 2:00, but then I just had to take a shower and get dressed. I’m weird that way. I feel like I can’t get anything done unless I get dressed.
And as for makeup. . . . I used to be one of those who had to perfectly apply it every day (and I don’t even live in the South!!), but I’ve progressed to the point where, on days I’m not going anywhere, I’ll forgo the foundation and blush and just do my eyes. Progress!
Now, I must go shower and get moving!!
pajamas.
I totally heart pajama days! Heart-heart-heart them! And no makeup on lazy days…seems to defeat the purpose of a ‘lazy’ day :)
Boo:
My first thought when I wake up hearing sleet on the window over my head, or peek out and see a blanket of snow on my Oklahoma lawn is “Maybe I won’t have to get dressed today!”
I am right there with ya!!!……love to stay in pj’s all day and definitely no makeup……my husband does not enjoy that particular look very much….ha, ha!!!
I am a pajama day kind of girl, and on days when I make that choice I don’t put on make-up. I dress for work everyday, so I feel as if I have earned a pajama day on the weekend, especially if it is cold and rainy outside like it was this weekend.
Hope you have a great week!
Oh Sophie, I am right there with you! The best thing EVER is to stay in your pjs all day and then shower and put on clean pjs before bed! That is just heavenly! I am a total pjs day girl. I work from home and if it wasn’t for the fact I have to leave the house to drop my son off at school, I would be i my pjs most of the day! And honestly, most days I just throw sweats on to go do drop off! Then I will shower and dress in the late afternoon before my husband comes home from work. HAHA! As for make-up, I do not put that on unless I am going to be out in public. School drop off doesn’t count. ;-)
I love me a pajama day. Just had one this past Sat too and I, too, did 183 loads of laundry. Good times, good times!
Oh, THANK YOU for solving that for me… it was driving me NUTS where I’d seen President Hassad before as well… Slumdog Millionaire! Thank you! :o)
LOVE Pajama Days here! (still sitting in them right now!) And I only wear makeup if I’m going somewhere in public – walking around the neighborhood or going to get the mail don’t count as public…At Christmas, I had a GLORIOUS run of 3 days straight in my pjs (I did bathe everyday and put on clean ones). And like you, I’m much more productive in my pjs, cause I’m more comfy, and you just never know when the need to nap might strike…
Amy in Austin, TX
LOVE pj days! Am 110% more productive in my pj’s. Have taken the kids to school in pj’s. And if I am home, no makeup….I’ve even gone in public like that too!
Who are these people who don’t like pajama days? I love them. I need more of them in my life! :) And uh NO, if I’m not going anywhere I will not be putting on makeup. Heck, you’re lucky if I put on contacts.
I’ve always felt lazy in my pajamas, but last November I bought a brand-new pair of pj’s that could double as the fancier style called “lounge wear.” I wore those babies until I had to leave the house at 5 pm to go grocery shopping one Sunday. That day and that pair of pajamas changed my perspective on pajama days.
We love pajama days around here. In fact on Friday’s in the summertime (my hubby’s day off) My 10yo gets mad if we want to go somewhere because it’s our “pajama day, stay at home day” he says. LOL! With the craziness of our schedules during the school year whenever we get a day off we enjoy it.
I too get a lot done while wearing my pajamas. I usually wear whatever I wore to bed the night before all day on house cleaning days. What is the point of putting on clean clothes just to sweat and clean? I do agree with Trish’s comment that undergarments are a good idea. Wearing one somehow decreases the chances of someone coming to your door dramatically!
1. I just quit my job a few weeks ago to stay home with my little girl, and for the first time since I was 16 years old (when I first started working), I’ve had MANY pajama days. Sure, my daughter had fever for several days so we did nothing but lay on the couch BUT STILL. It beat getting dressed HANDS DOWN.
2. However, if I’m going out, I put on makeup. I have a really hard time leaving the house without makeup.
And I hate to burst your bubble, but the founder of Popeye’s (Al Copeland) passed away last year. I think the City of New Orleans was about to declare a holiday to commemorate him. And what with the chicken and the cheesecake, I don’t blame them!
Gabe and I both work from home, so there are plenty of opportunities not to get dressed.
Typically, I try to shower before lunch and put on jeans. But as for dressing up? HARDLY NEVER EVER. Every day it’s the same general idea. Old t-shirt. Old jeans. And our church is pretty casual, so I often wear the same thing there. I try to dress up sometimes, but it just kills me.
I love me a pajama day! I have them a lot, as I work from home! I don’t really get out of the house until the weekends, so no makeup for me!
Pajamas all day, baby. I love it. Mostly barefoot, occasionally with socks.
No make-up either. I’ve also been known to leave the house with no make-up from time to time. But when I do I’m sure I will run into someone from my past who will nod politely while I chat them up, all the while thinking how I”ve let myself go. So that’s rare.
And I never where pajamas to the grocery store or any other public place.
Not only am I a pajama person, I have to STRUGGLE with myself not to just throw on a coat and wear them to the store for those quick-runs. Ditto with putting on makeup. You explained the pajama heaven so well in those italicized sentences, I think I’m gonna highlight that, print it and stick it on my mirror. The icing on the cake is watching Ms State totally come back and stun Georgia, while wearing pajamas on a rainy day!
I don’t ever wear makeup anymore…too many skin sensitivities and a husband who thinks it all looks “fake” on me. So if you’re at Target you get to see the real me. :)
My pajama time is right after supper most evenings. I hop in the shower and then spend the evening in my jammies.
Don’t know if I could do a whole jammie day, though. I would *have* to shower to wake up enough to feel sane, and also to not feel icky and dirty. Then I’d also have to put on a bra under the jammies so I wouldn’t frighten my children or the cats with my sagging bosoms. :) I have a feeling all you ladies who can hop out of bed in jammies and spend the whole day in them are still young and chipper and haven’t hit the age of the midnight hot flash.
YES to the “wear no make-up, stay in your PJ’s” kind of day!!! Do it all the time! I have even been known to come home from somewhere where I had to wear “real clothes” and change into PJ’s for the remainder of the day… like Sundays… come home from church, and POW!! on go the PJ pants!!!!
Well, I’m not a big fan of wearing pajamas all day, however if I have nowhere to go and I’m going to be at home all day I’ll put on some stretchy workout pants, and a longsleeve t-shirt. I’ll just throw my hair in a ponytail and put on minimal make-up. I have to wear shoe though, it is very important to wear shoes!! I don’t like the feeling of the bare floor under my sock feet. Weird, I know.
thank you! it’s been driving me crazy too trying to remember where I had seen that actor before! (president hassad) and yes, I agree, I take offense to the CTU-from-the-future, and their insults to jack & chloe. HELLO!?!?! can you believe that guy said, “who’s jack bauer?” WHO IS JACK BAUER??? wikipedia, dude.
Pajama day all.the.way!
Super love being in my pjs all day and lordhavemercy, there shall be no makeup whatsoever.
We love pajama days! I do try most days to get dressed, as I do try to make at least a minimal effort to be presentable for my husband and not embarrass my children when their friends are over. But I only wear makeup on church days – otherwise it is simply mosturizer.
Makeup is only for the usefulness or necessity of other people that have to look at you. It is useless to me in my own home.
As to the PJ question, I think we must go deeper. It all has to do with whether or not the “underthings” (you know the ones with wires and hooks and such) are on. For me, it’s not so much about not having to don the outerwear as it is whether or not I am going to be required to mount the over the shoulder boulder holder.
If you are putting one of these on, you are in NO way enjoying a Pajama day to the fullest.
I’m an acknowledged LAZY, and so I have to shower and put my clothes on before I get my son out of bed, or else I will not shower before 5pm. I used to do all my personal grooming during his naptime, but now his naptime is my time to waste on the internet, not do important things like shower. So. You now know more about me than my best friend.
Oh, I LOVE to stay in my jammies, but I usually feel too guilty to do it. There are days, though, that I am perfectly happy to avoid any make-up. On that note, I’d better go put some on before the day gets any older!
Yes, I love PJ’s all day.
However, make-up is a requirement, Otherwise I look in the mirror and believe that since I look so bad, apparently, I am sick and didn’t even know it.
Then days are lost to hypochondria.
So, yes, I am in PJ’s, but with a full face of make up.
I probably have way more pajama days than I should, but I do not see any point in being dolled up to hang around alone in my house. I am always dressed and hair-brushed by the time my kids come home, though.
I can’t do it. I MUST take a shower first thing in the morning and then get dressed. I will skip makeup if I am staying at home. Now my two kids (and my husband) would happily stay in PJs all day!
Love PJ days. Don’t get enough of them. NEVER wear makeup if I am not leaving the house. In fact, I am known to put on semi-workout gear so that I can go to grocery, Target, etc without makeup and maybe people will think that I look like I do b/c I just finished an awesome workout, not that I was just too lazy to fix up. (Note: I am from an area of MS where we NEVER went to Walmart, or even to check the mail, without makeup on.)
Oh. I am a pajamas girl. I thought I was the only one that would spend the day in them and then take a bath before bed and put on clean ones. :)
Not much of a pajama-all-day-kind-of-girl but I have been known to throw caution to the wind a time or two to just do it. On rare occasions I might even go without makeup, but that is just scary, so it doesn’t happen often. Oh, and I’ve never watched 24 so I can’t comment on that.
Enjoy your day,
Julie From Inmates
No pajama days around here – HOWEVER, nearly every day is a no-makeup day… I know I should slap something on my face every day but it just doesn’t get done. Plus, if I put on makeup my 4yo asks me if we’re going to church (oh, and my 6yo asks me what happened to the gray circles around my eyes.) : ) Kids keep you humble…
I did that, too! But my pajama days were due to being sick :( I’m better today, though!
Did y’all see Keifer Sutherland on David Letterman last week? He wore a dress, because he lost a bet over a football game. He was quite humble about it. It made my Chris and I love him all the more!
Oh goodness … not only do I have pajamas days, (I never wear street clothes or shoes in the house) I have even been known to go out in them, and by out I mean, beyond the mailbox!
Even though I will make drive through runs and pick my child up from co-op in my pj’s, I do have standards and always wear fresh undies.
Make-up I only wear occassionally. (Except for lipstick which I never go without.) If I wore it all of the time, no one would ever tell me that “I clean up good!” and I’m not even kidding…
Pajama Days are the best. At times I feel guilty for staying in jammies all day but that only lasts for a second.
We had a wonderful weekend and talk about screaming at a basketball game, the VOLS went into OT and it was an exciting game but I can’t take to many games like that.
Can I also just say that I miss SEC football?
It has been quite a week in Knoxville, our coach left and the students kind of lost their minds for a day and then another new coach. On second thought, maybe it’s a good thing football over. lol
Love ya,
Patty
I am a BIG fan of pajama days. And since we homeschooling, if I work it just right, I can have multiple pj days in a week!! I know!! And no makeup, especially when I’m not going anywhere and sometimes when I am. I usually try to at least take a shower before my hubby gets home cause, bless his heart, I’m not a pretty sight. But most of the time I just don’t care!! Thankfully he loves me anyway!
I love pajama days. I have them as often as possible. In fact, I’m currently in my pajamas while typing this..and it’s 12:27. :) As for the make up question, I never wear it. Only a little eyeliner or lipstick/chapstick for holidays…like the Christmas Eve Service. haha. Other than that, nothing.
when we’re in for the day, it’s pajamas and no make-up all the way. although i prefer to be made-up at all times (it’s how we roll in TX! ha!). because i still have a man coming home to me each night! i don’t like to look “schlumpadinka” too many nights in a row. :0)
but when we have to go out, i’m a made-up-and-dressed-nice kind of chick.
i try to plan “all-in” or “all-out” days each week so i know what to expect.
but i gotta say…my husband is a public school administrator, and i’ve learned that i can pretty much bet that if i don’t wear make-up or fix my hair one day, that WILL be the day that he needs me to run up to his school for some reason. i don’t know what it is, but that ALWAYS happens!!
I don’t have pajama days b/c I would freeze (I sleep in tank top and shorts usually) but I love me some lazy clothes days. I guess some of my lazy clothes might look like workout clothes, but rest assured no working out happens in them (I have workout clothes for that). If I do take a shower, I do put on makeup, even if I have no plans to leave the house. I also blow dry my hair, even if it is 7:00 at night or something. So I suppose I’m not fully committed to the lazy day. Or something.
Not only would I spend the entire day in my pajamas if I had no where to go, I’ve been known to actually go out to the market in my jammies for a quick item or two. It’s winter here and has been since October. The big winter coat covers up most of it and who can resist smiling as a large, waddling 8.5 month woman makes her way to the veggies with snowmen on her soft comfy terryclothe pants?? Besides, it helps that I am blissfully unaware of those who might be looking at me with disapproval on their faces.
I can, have and will in the future (many times, I’m sure) spend the whole day in my pj’s. I like my pj’s! And my sweet little son has spent those ‘jammer’ days with me.
But I have to put on make-up- maybe just a light sweeping of base and blush, but I have to. Otherwise, I look like Morticia Adams red-headed sister.
L.O.V.E. me some pajama day!
By the way, the picture on your “Africa button” cracks me up every time I look at it. It looks like you ran and grabbed up the child and are yelling at him. I completely know that wasn’t the case, but it still makes me giggle :)
I, for one, am in TOTAL favor of pajama days!!!!! They rock!!! :)
They are rare, but pajama days are good. I just have to change into different pajamas before I get back into bed at night.
And…is it just me or was the man that shot the missile at the helicopter(the one that shot the other cop at the end)… wasn’t he the one that didn’t wet the sponge in the Green Mile? Or am I hallucinating again?
I love PJ days! And if I know I’m not going anywhere, I won’t put on makeup or even put in my contacts. :)
PJ Days are abundant in our family. We have had a number of those since cold weather overtook us right after Christmas. Good thing we had a wii to keep us busy, plus you can play in your pj’s. My oldest one is a pjer-kinda-girl too, but my youngest likes to change her clothes 97.35 times a day so one just never knows. Thanks for making me like you even more.
I love pajama days, but for me they always consist of me waking up and taking a shower and then putting clean ones on. And makeup, too. I have a problem with makeup. My problem is addiction to makeup. Like not putting it on is akin to not putting my contacts in.
I love pajamas, sweats, whatever. I would wear them every day (w/makeup, of course, hehe) if I could. :)
I love pajama days but they do not happen often around here. Mostly because I have to get dressed to take the dog out (you can’t just open the back door when you live in the city). And also because I love my neighbors to death and we are all very friendly. As in drop-in-any-old-time friendly. And I do not want to scare them. So my choices are get dressed and be able to open the shades or stay in pjs and live like a hermit. Which might force the neighbors to stop by and check to see if I’m ok. ‘Cause they’re friendly like that.
But if I didn’t live in the city? Or if I lived in the city but had no dog and no friends and/or friendly neighbors? I would totally do pajama days.
I was just telling my husband the other day that my perfect dream day would be a pajama day. Of course, the key word is ‘dream’ and it will only happen in one… Really. I also dream of a make up free day – but that dream will become reality when a pajama day does.
Very much a pajama day gal.
In my pajamas this very day. And, YES, very productive. I’ve even made a House Rules sign for the three-year-old that includes clip art so that the nonreader can tell what the rules are.
And shoes? I completely agree! Way too confining. Socks, occasionally slippers. Or pretty much–socks.
In fact, I’m just about to bathe the aforementioned three-year-old and put her down for a nap before her dance class. And then I while she’s napping, I’ll take a nice, hot bath and then–CHANGE PAJAMAS.
Because her sister helps teach her dance class, therefore, she brings her. So I DON’T HAVE TO LEAVE THE HOUSE!
PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME!
I love the idea of pj days, but always end up changing into a tank & yoga pants or jeans. Maybe it’s that I don’t actually own pajamas…only nightie/slip things. My kids are actually having pj day at school today – and they love it!
I MUST put on at least eye and lip make-up every day even with nowhere to go. If I am going past the driveway my face is fully done without exception. I know it’s nuts, but I put it all on at the beach, kids’ sporting events, etc – you just never know who might be around.
I am paranoid about pajama days. I’m afraid someone will stop by and it will lead to an awkward moment. But I do often skip makeup if I’m not leaving the house. My 4 year old walks right into the house and puts on the pjs straight away. No messing around. If she is in this house, she is wearing pjs. Today we cleaned up at Target on the clearance pajamas. Flannel sets for $3.74? We’ll take 4, thankyouverymuch.
YES to pajama days. And NO to makeup on pajama days. Love ’em.
Also? Whatever-his-name-is that blew up the helicopter? BUGGED me for a long time- it was Horace from LOST! AH!!!
BooMama… on a related note… SOME people actually forget to put their children in pajamas for their school’s Pajama Day. And they don’t realize said fact until after the bus is rolling up and 20 children are all climbing into the bus wearing pajamas and their child starts crying because she is the only one NOT wearing pajamas. So then SOME people promise their child that they will meet their child at the school, with the (cue angels singing) pajamas in hand so that she can change into pajamas for Pajama Day. And then they break speed records racing to the school to make it all happen. And then they happen to belatedly realize – when the teacher starts laughing – that they did all this while wearing their own pajamas because doesn’t EVERYONE wear pajamas to the school bus stop in the morning? Not that this happened to me last week or anything.
Most definitely a pajama-day girl! And I never, ever wear shoes inside my house. No make-up either. Lately I have loved those kind of days more and more-I thought it might be because I am just getting old and that was one of the signs :)
