The Big Boo Cast, Episode 299

Our Amazon Shop

This week Melanie and I kick off the episode with a recap of My Weekend with Martha (maybe that should be trademarked), which was super fun (you can imagine! can’t you just imagine?!), and we talk about this new season of life where our kids aren’t around very much – which sort of makes us feel like we’re dating the people we’ve been married to for 25 years.

Also, Melanie fills us in on a movie she loved, we both have rave reviews for a TV show we adore, and we break down the AP college football poll that came out this week (spoiler alert: Melanie continues to give Notre Dame the side-eye). As always, we wrap up with Five Favorites – it’s Melanie’s turn this week!

And just a reminder: next week is our 300th episode and our 15th podcast-i-versary. We have some fun giveaways planned – because we want to be sure to celebrate the milestones!

Hope y’all enjoy episode 299!

  1. So, a few observations and questions about Never Have I Ever. What do you think her enneagram number is? There were times in that last episode that my mother’s heart was breaking. Also, do all “kids these days” see their virginity as something they have to get rid of? It made me sad.
Have either of you watched Locke & Key on Netflix? We are really enjoying it but you have to be careful cuz it will get on the pillow with you.
    Much love!

I look forward to listening every week! Thanks for all the laughter, fun and recommendations y’all have shared through the years. I don’t particularly care as much about football as y’all do, but I get such a kick out of listening to your thoughts and comments about it all. I sometimes tell my youngest son about something y’all have said about a team, player, etc. and he just shakes his head. Ha! CONGRATS on 300 episodes! Looking forward to 300 more! Hopefully it won’t take another 15 years, but I’ll be here for it no matter how long it takes ;)

  21. Ashley Bahr says:

I recently found your podcast and it is so fun and easy to listen to on the regular. The fact that you gracefully keep it real and try not to be perfect is great and so needed in everyday culture. In a world of negativity y’all’s voices are refreshing and real. Thank you for doing what you do: being real, sharing your lives and children, and being an uplifting podcast. Cheers to 300 episodes and being yourselves ????????????

Hello! I look forward to the Big Boo Cast weekly! It is my favorite podcast and one I know I will listen to from beginning to end! It is a joy to listen to, and I also get to shop some of your favorite products! My friend and I will attend the Live event in October and can not wait! Thank you for bringing joy and laughter to me each week! My husband and I have been in full-time ministry for 32 years, and the way you and Melanie shine the love of Jesus brings a smile to my face each week! Your devotionals have held a special place in my heart too. Thank you for loving Jesus and sharing a piece of you with us.

  34. Sharon Cobb says:

My favorite podcast. Never miss an episode. Always makes me smile!

  35. Casi Bowers says:

A delight. An absolute delight. You ladies keep me company every week while I’m mowing the lawn so my husband with bad knees doesn’t have to. You never cease to make me smile, have been responsible for a lot of impulse purchases, and make me laugh out loud. Every. Single. Time. Thank you for being you. And, honestly, I can’t believe Mike Leach’s interview didn’t come up as a highlight. Hahaha

  36. Melissa Ford says:

I love your podcast and of course your books. Sophie, when you write I feel like I’m watching a wonderful southern movie. The weddings you’ve attended and been in, elderly family members in fragile states, and friendships you’ve held onto in good and bad times-it’s just so good. My oldest plays football for a nationally ranked high school team and we travel to Atlanta this weekend for the Cam Newton Classic. I hope you all continue with all of your college football ramblings~

  37. Thank you both for sharing so much with your readers over the years.

  38. Jennifer Morriss says:

Congrats on the podcast!!! I love hearing both you and Melanie voices, I’m a Texan living in Southern California. I want to thank you and Melanie for sharing the fun, fashion and food ideas with us. Also, I love your books, Stand Up and Ouida Wednesday and Melanie book, Church of the Small Things. Thank you and XOXOs. Keep the episodes coming.
