Okay – so this was the Big Festive Deal. And if you’re interested in pictures of celebrities, the end of that article would be the place to look, because I didn’t take a single picture of a celebrity, oh no ma’am I didn’t, because you know that gene that enables a person to say, “Hey, So-And-So, would you mind if we took a picture together?”
I totally didn’t get that gene. It swam right past me in the gene pool.
So really, all I have to offer you are some pictures of some normal people. With “normal,” of course, being a completely relative term.
After I got dressed in my fayn-cee clothes I thought I’d take a few pictures for the internets, and you would be embarrassed for me if you knew how many times I took my own picture before I realized that MAYBE I WOULD GET BETTER RESULTS WITHOUT THE FLASH.

Second of all, my roots are hideous.

I’m telling y’all: I have some mad photography skillz.
It’s just a matter of time before people start to hire me for weddings and other special events.
By the way, I didn’t get even a single picture of my sassy pants, and that is a shame because they were oh-so-comfortable. However, I cannot say the same for my shoes. Though I can tell you that the pointy-toed kitten heel slingback is dead to me forever.

I also stared at a very similar spot a whole bunch Monday night when I didn’t know whether or not it was okay to speak to the people who were performing. So instead I just looked at the floor. Which is absolutely charming behavior, don’t you think?
Maybe I need a life coach or something.
No. I take that back. I already have a life coach. Her name is Emma Kate, and she would love nothing more than to spend the rest of her days hitting me on the arm and saying, “GO SPEAK TO SO-AND-SO! RIGHT NOW! GO OVER THERE!”
And then I could respond by making some sort of “EHHHHHHH” noise followed immediately by nervous laughter.
After the awards were over, there was swanky shindig across the street, and I could write paragraphs about the chocolate fountain alone, mainly because there was a huge tray of apricots just waiting to be dunked in the delicious chocolate, and I have quite a fondness for apricots, and when you dip a piece of apricot into delicious chocolate, about forty eight different kinds of magic happen.
If you can’t tell, the chocolate fountain became a bit of a stumbling block for me Monday night.
And finally, there’s this: at one point I looked around our table and got very tickled when I realized how our beverage choices lined up with some definite denominational stereotypes. And then I immediately asked Sister’s hubby to capture the moment for us.

But Keith, Carrie and I were THIRSTY, y’all. So we had us some Cokes and some smiles.
And then we threw all Baptist caution to the wind and hit the dance floor. PLEASE DON’T TELL THE DEACONS!
Oh, I kid.
It was such a neat night, y’all. Great music, great food, great people.
Bad shoes.
But big fun.

I was quite curious about the shoes and how they fared. So happy to get an update! Looks like you had fun. I hope you didn’t take along too much mommy guilt.
Oh you have no idea how jealous of you I am right at this very moment! Of the fact that you live close enough to drive to Nashville in one day! Me and my northwest roots will never live that close! And Big and Rich… oh my oh my oh my.
I’m glad you had lots of fun though! Chocolate apricots… I’m drooling!
YOU WENT THERE AND DIDN’T GET ANY PICTURES?????
What are we gonna do with you?
You look beautiful. And Sassy. And, I’m totally jealous of your entire evening, sans the dead-to-me-now kitten heels.
Green-eyed and all.
I’m telling ya.
you are lovely! I love your “Do” — so sassy!
Blessings,
Karla
Awww, we LOVE the Ryman! (We’ve been four times–pretty good, for being from California, huh?!) And you are so right about the “Coal Miner’s Daughter” thing. : )
Glad you had a great time!
Okay, now, here’s the truth- I just got myself OUT OF BED to see these peekatures. Really. I was dozing away, and my mama happened to call (about something totally NOT related to the blawg, btw ;)) and since she was bloggie-browsing as we were talking, she informed me of your pictures. And since they were not only of a person we love, but of that person at a place we also love, I just had to come see for myself. So–I just love the shirt, love the backstage floor and love them Cokes. And now I’m going back to nighty night.
Ashleigh’s not the only one to get herself OUT OF BED to see these pictures…of course, someone’s snoring might have a little bit to do with it. How fun! Too bad we can’t have chocolate fountains at home (or would that take all the fun out of it? Nope!)
I loved the pictures of you and Sister! I’m glad you had a good time, but my feet would have been killin’ me, too.
I would have been thinking the same thing about that Ryman stage. All the greats of the past and present who’ve stood and performed there…..
Hope Howard is feeling much better by now.
Hugs,
Diane
I had to check before going to bed and I’m so glad I did. What a fantastic experience for you! May I also say that I’m so happy to ‘see’ you and be able to picture your smile when I read one of my favorite blogs. What a beautiful woman you are, inside and out =)Thank you for sharing and always putting a smile on my face with your description of things. I hope A is feeling better soon, we have a touch of the sickies here as well. *hugs*
This must be one of those times when being a night owl pays off — I got to see the oh-so-fun pics before I went to sleep! You look mahvelous, dahling!
Hope you’re getting some restful sleep tonight so we can hear some stuff about some things when you wake up…
Oh how I LOVE your hair ! What roots ? Did you do the little flippy thing yourself, if so I want a post with step by step pictures. C’mon we get step by step pictures for coconut cake and this is HAIR, its serious ! Its looked perfect and that top was so much better than the black dress…….disappointed the kitten heels were a failure but if THEY failed I don’t know HOW you would have managed the high heels all night.
“3 baptists and an episcopalian” ROFL
Sounds like a blast. And you look GREAT!! Oh, and the floor where Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn have stood. Be still my heart.
You look fabulous! Very cute top and I’m so sorry about the shoes. ouch!
I’ve toured the Ryman several times and they let us go up on the stage. You do feel like you’re standing on hallowed ground don’t you?
I’m headed to Nashville in about 24 hours for a weekend with my mom. You’ve made me all the more anxious to get on the road!
You are one cool chick Ms. Boomama! And lookin good might we add!! Truly an awesome experience and we are all just a teeny bit jealous! :)
Chocolate! Fountain! All your giving me is 2 stinkin’ sentences about a chocolate fountain? I need more….details. Was it rich dark chocolate, or a creamy milk chocolate? Were there marshmallows to dip or just gross fruit? I gotta know. My eye is beginning to twitch!
PS. Love the hair!
Roots? I don’t see what you’re talking about! You should see mine! I’m keeping them that way until after Halloween, because I figured out if I put on an orange shirt, I can just go as a candy corn.
Looks like a fun evening – sorry about the kitty-heels. REEOWWWR HISS.
OH MY GOODNESS! You were THISCLOSE to Brad Paisley and you were looking at the FLOOR! I bow at your willpower….
Roots? What roots?
OH my sweet heavens. I could not be more envious and at the same time excited for you! And I don’t even really know you!
But you saw Brad Paisley! And Kenny Rogers! And Chesney! And wasn’t Kelly Pickler just the cutest thing you ever saw? Surely you talked to Kelly, right? In my imagination, Kelly’s back there talking to anyone who will look her way…oh, that’s right, you probably didn’t look her way.
Well, it looks like a GREAT time regardless.
You are TOO cute! It looks like you had loads o’ fun!
I love the little flip you’ve got workin’ on the hair! I can never get that little flip to work for me. I am a bit hair-challenged.
Sounds like you had a fabulous night, you are lucky to get the chance to do something like that.
And, you looked great. Glad you were comfy! (except for the feet!) :)
You look wonderful! I love your hair! And I don’t see any roots…have you the same roots you had at Deeper Still? ‘Cause I’m not seeing any…
You didn’t explain how you got involved in this…please do. Also, what are kitten heels??
Oh, and I know who Kenny Rogers is, but the rest I was clueless about I’m afraid…
Forget all those celebrities, let’s talk about your fab hair. Oh my goodness, you are workin’ that flip and I am envious.
And I don’t mean it about the celebrities, that would be blasphemous.
Oh my, you are more beautiful that I imagine you to be…you should post pictures of yourself more often! I am totally jealous and can’t wait to get home and show my hubby the post!!!
So tell me, does Kenny’s eyes look as bad in person as they do in the pictures? The man’s face is so tight it’s painful. I’m sorry, but that’s one time I would have HAD to look up – you know, just to know for certain if the man could still blink.
And if them sling back kitten heels happen to be, say, in the 9 1/2 to 10 range, then there’s this woman in Texas I know that would completely and totally accept a donation.
And dancin’ Baptists? Why we can dance and dish doctorine at the same time!
You are just too cute! Nothing worse than aching feet!
WAIT! I want the backstory — how in the world did you get to go to THE BIG SHINDIG? What were you doing there (like what did the backstage stuff entail) and for goodness sake didn’t you tell ANYONE they were in the the presence of THE Boomama???!!!
Did you do the hair yourself or did someone help you out because it is gorgeous! You go girl. I would definitely have been lookin, checkin everyone out, probably would have given myself whiplash, and probably would have been chatty chatty.
I had to take some pics of myself recently and it was a nightmare! I still shudder at the thought of them. The lighting was bad, my arms are to short, my hair was not gorgeous. EEE gads it was a Nightmare.
You look GREAT and it looks like it was a BLAST! :-)
Thanks for taking the time to share the pics.!
You look smashing from the waist up. I wish I could see the entire ensemble, but I am going to go ahead and take a guess that you looked oh so fab!
And where are these roots that you speak of?
You are too funny. Loved the byplay between the absent Emma Kate & you. Made me laugh! Glad you had a fun fun time!
You are just 50 different kinds of cool! I wanna be boomama when I grow up. Glad you had fun!
PS, I’ve learned that any shoe with the word “kitten” in it, probably won’t work with my feet. Now if they design some cute little elephant slingbacks … I’m your girl! :D Welcome back!
Hey, Sophie, oh how much fun was that?! Sounds like a wonderful time ya’ll had. and I remember the Ryman was just across the street from where we had the Beth Moore thing last month. Your description of it was priceless & I hear you on the cruel shoes thing. I have to wear comfort these days myself.
Rhoda
looks like you had a great time–totally love the picture of the floor–its something i would notice and think about. you looked mah-vel-lous dahling!
Oh Holy Cow! Ya know…I wondered if the CMA’s were the Big Festive Deal…HOW COOL ARE YOU?! I love the snazzy shirt, and I’m sure the sassy pants were wonderful. As for the shoes, well, I wore some like that last year, and they have since been dead to me also. I feel for you, and your feet.
You call those “roots”?? I was thinking how you were totally rockin’ the hair. It’s so CMT (I mean that in a good way!)
Looks like you had a blast!
BTW, “bad shoes”…isn’t that an oxymoron??!!
So glad you had a good time! As a fan of country music I must say that would have been quite an event to attend for me. More like a dream. Oh well…sorry your feet hurt…don’t you hate that! You pay good money for a pair of shoes that look and feel comfortable at the trying on part of the deal and then low and behold…killer shoes. I’m sure you have recovered by now and will forever enjoy the memories made! Blessings.
Oh, go ahead and drop some names…
Soph, you look beautiful, even with your head chopped off! Ummm, wait… that doesn’t sound as nice as it should.
Glad you had a great time. Really, I wish I could have hit the dance floor with you. (And I would have totally taken the wine which runs completely counter to the CoC’s conservative background. But, I’m a rebel, what can I say?)
Awe! You look adorable… I mean … SASSY! Love the little flip thing going on with your hair!
All us closet-dancing Baptists are holding you in awe right now!
You look amazing. And I would have simply ditched the shoes. Yes, I would have. I’d have gone barefoot. I love that you took a picture of the floor. And I love it even more that you posted a picture of SISTER! She’s beautiful.
Fun! Thanks for sharing….you had us all wondering! Loved the pictures of you and the group picture made me laugh out loud. You are so original….and that’s a GREAT thing!
Glad you are back. It’s kind of pathetic…to keep checking the blog and finding nothing new (I realize you DO have a life other than being chained to the internet), but you are such a refreshing part of my day. I think because you are so fun, friendly and real.
Have a great day!
I love your hair!!!!!
That picture could also be titled “three Chi Omegas and a man”. I know Carrie and I love her too! Darling, darling girl and I am so glad to see her smiling face. And of course you and Sister look smashing!
Love that hair! I actually have that cut sort of(in red)but it never looks THAT good! How do you get that kind of volume out of it?!
has sister ever made it on the blog before? ya’ll are just adorable. and what a great hair night! lucky you.
that’s exactly what i’d look like in the drink picture–coke.
looks like you had a great time. love carrie’s top!
Have you told us what Sister does for a living?
Cute pictures of you. Add me to the list of ladies who love your hair! : )
I look 104.
Looks like a hoot. And your hair? What roots? It’s lovely. You want to talk roots, Bossy’s roots are kissing the tops of her ears.
To Sister:
You do not look 104. In fact, I was about to inquire as to what sort of anti-aging products you use. Because I have got to get me something that would make my skin look that good.
Beautiful! You look beyond sassy to completely lovely!
So glad you had a fun time…I want to know how you ended up going and helping.
Hope you’re feeling recovered :)
Again, you look beautiful!
One more time, I love your hair and there are no roots to be seen in that picture.
Did you decide on different shoes? I think I missed that part.
If it has been raining there like it has here all day, I bet you are in nap heaven!
Thanks for sharing your trip with us!
You are so stinkin’ cute! Love the hair, love the outfit – you’re just fabulous all over the place!
p.s. how about a picture of the dead-to-you shoes?
I love it!
I’ve never seen a picture of you, you are darling!!
Blessings,
Sue
Oh my word – that looks like fun. I love the picture of the floor at the Ryman. For a short while I dated a guy that wrote several songs for Garth Brooks and I got to go with him to all the award shows. He’d go up and talk to the **famous people** and I’d just stand there with my mouth open.
Perhaps you should rephrase. The “bad shoes” are now the shoes that stood in the same place as Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, etc. They should be put in a glass case, therefore to assure the fact that a) they will never be worn again and b) can never be replaced.
Oh, girlfriend you got the sassy flip down!
I’m with chocolatechic – more details about the fountain o’ heaven and that includes the apricots. Yum-O!
Now a moment of silence for Coal Miner’s Daughter.
How fun! How snazzy you were! Can I just say I love that you’ve now mentioned “Coal Miner’s Daughter” at least twice within the past few weeks. I loved that movie so much that in high school English one time we had to pick a celebrity of some sort, dress like them, and imitate them. Oh yes, I was Loretta Lynn and had so much fun doing a monologue from that movie. “Doo! Stop makin’ that noise, ye sound like an ol’ bear a-growlin’!”
Okay, the pictures of you and Sister and your friends are nice and all, but I went weak in the knees at the picture of the hardwood floor at the Ryman. Oh, the very thought of standing where Loretta and Patsy and Minnie Pearl, and Roy Acuff (I could go on and on) have stood, it makes my little heart flutter. I do envy you that!
I’ve only been reading your blog for a few months now…and I’m so excited to see a picture of you!!! You are beautiful – just like I imagined. :)
I’m baptist too and I love to dance (but don’t tell my parents..they would DIE!!!)
You must have had the best time! You looked so pretty!!! Thanks for all the pictures!!!
Once again, tennis shoes were the way to go. hehehe And I love the fact that you took a picture of the floor and are playing off as something special. lol
I too was nervous about being Baptist and dancing. But once my feet hit the Jerusalem streets I was thrilled to dance. Just imagine dancing in the streets where Jesus walked! And Frankly my dear, anything stronger than a Coke and a smile and you might not have remembered anything to blog and us interneters would not have been happy about that.
What a fab flip! Can I steal your look? I may as well break another Commandment while I am at it and covet that blouse too. You were rockin’ it girl! Gotta go with you on the Coke thing — ain’t nothin’ like the real thing, baby!
May I ask, was there any apology given by the Plastic Surgeon’s Association for the egregious errors that have taken over the man that was once Kenny Rogers? Tacky, I know, but just curious…how absolutely THRILLING that you were able to be there!
Wow BooMama, I think you and I must be related! My jaw just about hit the floor when I saw the pictures of you. I couldn’t believe how much we resemble each other. I actually did a double take on the last picture because, for a split second, I thought you had a picture of me!
BooMama, you look beautiful! What roots? You and Sister are both beautiful. Shoes? Why were you wearing shoes when you were standing on Holy Ground?
