My SiteMeter is showing that we have a new BooMama reader.
From Parchman, Mississippi.
Um. Welcome!???
[Pinched grin.]
To be honest, it’s not really an audience I planned on having.
But we’re, um, delighted to have you, Parchman reader. I’m sure you’re a wonderful person who really didn’t do what the authorities accused you of doing. I’m sure it was all a big mistake.
Really!
[Looks paranoid.]
Now that I think about it, though, I imagine that our Parchman reader is not in fact in prison, just a non-incarcerated resident of the MS Delta. :-)
And seriously – welcome.
Hey sister…you know, it takes a village. :)
Oh, that made me laugh out loud.
You’re right – takes all kinds.
Did I mention that I spent some time in Parchman……Just kidding, really, but I wonder how far into your hairline your eyebrows got before you got to the kidding part, sister and boomama. lol. :)
Parchman has a US Post Office that is used by the outside population. Lea Margaret had a college professor one summer at the local Junior College that lived at Parchman. I was at my doctors office one day and when I got ready to leave the nurse said “you have a balance of $8.50”. I told the lady that I had not gotten a bill. She said you are Joe McLaurin from Parchman MS. No nurse I live in Hollandale.
Either somebody in the Big House was getting your bill, or Lea Margaret has failed to divulge a crucial piece of information about her daddy. :-)
Glad you’re here, Big Mac. Make yourself at home.
WHAT?!?!? Big Mac, are you holding something back from me? I need to quickly get to Mississippi and see what is going on down there!
Boomama, maybe its Fate’ Walker or even Pig Prather from Parchman. Fine outstanding gentleman that they are.
Good call, SB. Didn’t think about the possibility that some former Bulldogs might have come a-callin’. :-)
PIG Prather??!! Pig’s at Parchman?? Did I miss something? OH dear!
Whether he is or he isn’t, that’s another comment for the ages. :-)
Seriously, I don’t think he is…it’s whomever was in on the whole counterfeit thing, but the name escapes me.
oh I stand corrected. If you had gotten one from the Central MS Correctional Facility it might be Pig, he’s there (Edward Prather), 4 yrs for the selling of cocaine! Guess Jackie made him do it.

You really ought to ck out Fate’s pic. Sad
So many fans from all walks of life boomama, can you believe it?
Just remember Paul’s precious, sweet Meemaw (92 yrs. now) is originally from the greater Parchman metropolitan area.
No, no, boomama, the counterfeiter did not go to jail and actually plays NCAA football (or at least did last year) for Murray State now (one of the teams we actually beat last year). Ironically, he did not play in the State-Murray State game last year because he had been suspended by his coach for undisclosed reasons.
SB, I so appreciate the detailed research. But we all need to check in on Lea Margaret, who may require some vapors after learning of Pig’s fate. God love him.
And was the Murray St. guy Nick Houston? Is that right? I remember appreciating the irony that he didn’t get to play in the MSU game for “disciplinary reasons.”
It’s a rich and storied football history, isn’t it?
Oh, and if you go to the site and look up Dontae Walker, he’s listed as “Dontay”…reminiscent of MSU basketball great, Dontay Jones, which is yet ANOTHER story.
OH, Dontae Jones was a HARD worker, what with passing 18 hours of college credit in SUMMER SCHOOL in order to gain college eligibility. A HARD worker, he was. ;-)
Chris had the smelling salts ready and I’m alright now, I think. I just need to get home to get everybody streight! A McLaurin at Parchman and now Pig, it is just too much!
OK, I looked at the site and NONE are related to me.
Oh, and don’t forget about Derrick Taite. I believe he’s hit the big time and is living it up, all courtesy of The Feds. :)
Derrick Taite? Really? What did he do? I mean, he broke the law, obviously – but specifically???
Interstate drugs, my dear BooMama – i.e., a truckload of maryjane from Texas en route to his crib on the coast, all while he was QB for the arena football team down there. The driver of the truck had detailed journals/ledgers of who received what and when (how organized of them!). The truck was stopped for a traffic violation and the rest is history. I’m thinking, with all of the incarcerated football players, there’s an excellent movie opportunity here, such as a Mississippi version of “The Longest Yard”. :)
Well, that’s a shame. God love him.
