You know that I adore a funny Christian. You know that I contend we need more of ’em.
Well, here’s a blogger after my own heart. I laughed my head off. Sad thing is, given Daddy’s old album collection, some of these looked a little, um, familiar.
Enjoy, y’all.
And thanks, Sister, for the link.

I don’t remember many being in Daddy’s collection, but Lou probably remembers them from HER daddy’s accumulation of LP’s. I seem to remember that Richard had a mean LP anthology of (independent) Christian artists (oh, YEAH he did!). During our Friday night sleepovers, Missy and I heard many a Gospel Tune played into the wee hours, à la Richard style. :) :)
I wonder if he had “From Show Business to God’s Business”? That one cracks me up.
This link has ABSOLUTELY made my week! Thanks Boomama & Sister!!
Somebody has to explain the matriarch of The Singing Rickey Family. How does one accomplish such coiffure? Is there Tupperware underneath it for support?
I could go on for hours……
I was thinking flower pot, not Tupperware, but Tupperware makes much more sense because it’s so lightweight.
By the way, I noticed today that you called last night. I’ll give you a call tomorrow. Tonight I’m going to BED just as soon as I convince the young’un to do the same.
Sister – I just wanted to interject to you and Lou that during MY sleepovers at the same abode, I heard MANY a Dottie West tune. I also remember hearing Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers and Charlie Rich. Oh it was a rich musical tapestry, was it not? :-)
Oh, “Dust On The Bible” by the Queen of Country Music, Kitty Wells, was also a favorite during those late night LP sessions.
As for Bubba’s question about the Rickey matriarch ‘do, I hope to shed some light on the subject. First of all, I think it is important to point out that God loves Big Hair. :)
In order to obtain the “Rickey Look”, one must use a mesh-like apparatus (can be purchased from a beauty supply shop). Apparatus should be placed and bobby pinned on your head where highest peak is desired. Hair should be teased (or rat combed, if you will), then backcombed over the apparatus, followed by a large bottle of Final Net, and voilà! The “Rickey Coif” is yours!
God DOES love Big Hair. And I’d forgotten about all those Kitty Wells albums. And Barbara Mandrell in the mid-70’s. She was a big favorite. Richard’s better half liked Anne Murray, if memory serves. Laura and I loved to play radio station, and we always had GREAT variety from which to choose.
