Aw, Let’s Just Let Some Good Ole Boy Run The Show

Hey, MSU Grads –

Pretty apathetic about the MSU Presidential Search? Read these:

Sid Salter’s Take, Part 1 and Part 2
Marty Wiseman’s Take, Part 1 and Part 2
The Reflector
The Meridian Star

I was tickled to see that Clyde Williams is still keeping things stirred up in Starkvegas. He did a bang-up job of that even when I was there…he was the English department’s resident loose cannon.

I’m not exactly sure how the Search Committee can legally “shut ‘er down” like they’ve been doing…but it might not be a bad time to make your opinion known here.

Just FYI, here’s some info on the alleged front runner, if Tom Meredith and all his secretive meetings don’t stop him in his tracks.

  1. VERY interesting reads…especially before I go to church this morning – where I’ll be lighting a candle for Mark Keenum.

And, for fear of unleashing a tongue lashing that some will not soon forget, I hereby appoint Lea Margaret as my spokesperson. Sic ‘Em LM!

  2. I tell you what – if they stonewall this process…if they stonewall Mark Keenum…they will have a PR nightmare on their hands, and I’m with you – I appoint LM to keep it STIRRED UP, as Stacy would say. :-)

  3. …and said candle was LIT.
    Yeah, it was.

  4. Lea Margaret says:

I am just now reading this! I am up to my eyeballs in cleaning out closets to put more STUFF in them. I am SO GLAD you have started this conversation! We need to be worried! Tom Meredith now has gotten to much power with this centralized dept of higher education. It is NOT good for Mississippi State! As far as Mark Kennum, he is the man for us. Whether he gets the job or not, only time will tell. Now more than ever do we need a person of his love and passion for MSU. He WANTS the job. Ruth Prescott is the chair of the advisory committee. She is the wife of Dennis Prescott who is head of the Foundation, can you say conflict of interest? This whole thing smells like a dead rat. I you can, people need to write the committee, write the newspaper, write Gene’s Page (all of those articles were good and had good information in them) and be heard. Thank you Boomama for bringing this up!!! Go DAWGS! :)

  5. I saw today that the president from U La at Monroe had withdrawn his name…so SURELY MK will be the man for the job. I think there will be many, many vocal alums if he gets stonewalled.

  6. “Ooh-la-moe”? Uh, nothankyouverymuch.
    :)
