Hey, Hometown People

It’s always neat to see a Queen City boy “make good,” especially when it’s someone as nice as Patrick. Check out this article to read more.

No doubt that Liz’s hubby, T., is outside the Temple right now, waiting for the doors to open – maybe even firing up the grill for a little tailgating – since he is in fact the biggest Wilco fan in the world.

Love the blog. It makes good reading here in the nation’s capital… FYI, re: Wilco… John Stiratt, who is mentioned in the article, is an Ole Miss grad and was the lead singer of the Hilltops/Hightops during our years at “Cow & Plow”… They performed regularly at Doug’s Place on the “Crossroads Strip”… Seriously, HOW did ANY OF US live thru college driving on a dark, two-lane highway to get loaded on cold beer??? Sorry, I digress.

  2. Dear MyAliasIsNapoleonDynamite aka TV –

Since my child may one day read this, I’m sure I have no idea about this “cold beer” of which you speak. And certainly no recollections of driving down a two-lane road to procur said “beer.” Your talk of adult beverages frightens and confuses me. :-)

Seriously, I had no idea about the John Stiratt / Doug’s connection. I think I have blocked Doug’s from my memory altogether because the condition of the bathrooms – OH the bathrooms – is traumatic even 15 years later. Interesting Wilco trivia, though – and I have wished all day that I was going to be in Meridian Wednesday (thanks, Liz), just to see Patrick in his element (he graduated from MHS with Marion and me).

And I’m just so tickled that you commented. :-)

  3. It’s next Wed, S.

  4. Well then I’m glad I didn’t go to Meridian tonight. I would’ve been rather lonely, wouldn’t I? :-)

  5. I’ve already heard about the exciting Wilco concert at the Temple Theater next Wednesday night. Yes, E and T are going to be there…with bells on! Gee, I hope they remember to get that autograph for me.

So there were actually bands playing at Doug’s? I never noticed.

  6. That last line made me laugh out loud.

I recall you cuttin’ a few rugs there, Missy. :-)
