Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Things That Have Brightened My Week
1. Alex waking up from his nap, looking at me, grabbing my face with both of his little hands and saying, “HEY SWEET THING. I MISSED YOU.”

2. “Project Runway” – it’s the fastest moving 60 minutes on television, and watching creative people in action makes me happy.

3. Keeping secrets. I love keeping secrets. However, there is one VERY exciting secret that I won’t have to keep for much longer. Well, actually, I don’t have to keep it a secret right now, or else I wouldn’t have given you that hint, but I DO want to have just the right words for it when I finally tell the tale(and don’t even ask me if I’m pregnant. I couldn’t be less pregnant if I tried).

4. This post of Lori’s – which made me laugh out loud.

5. This post of Big Mama’s – which also made me laugh out loud.

6. Tonight I’m going to a recipe swap. With a bunch of girls. And we’ll get to eat samples of the recipes. And talk a whole bunch with no kids around. Can you tell I’m excited?

7. The new camera came in today…and I am like a kid at Christmas. I didn’t get the SLR – it just seemed like more than I could handle. So here’s the winner.

8. Emails from Sarah. Always late at night, always funny, and always encouraging.

9. Alex was coming up the basement stairs a few nights ago, and he fell and busted his lip. Once we got all the blood cleaned up and he calmed down, he looked at me with those big blue eyes and said, “Mama. I ate my lip.” And then he threw his head on my shoulder and cried while my heart exploded into millions of tiny pieces.

10. A friend of ours started a blog. It has something to do with #3. Soon – very soon – there will be much linkage for you to enjoy.

11. In the mornings, if you tilt your head just right, you can sense a hint of fall in the air. Just a hint. And only for a second. But it’s there.

12. HolyMama! posted a link to this video a couple of weeks ago – and it cracks me up so much that I can’t quit watching it. I’ve tried, but I can’t. Intervention, anyone?

13. Philippians 2:1-7 and Philippians 3:7-11 – seems like I can’t read these two verses enough lately. As our pastor likes to say: “The Word is gooood.” :-)

  1. Wow, you’ve had a beautiful week! Glad it has been fun of laughs, blessings and so much more! Sounds like your little guys is so cute! Hope the rest of the week is just as good as the first part!

Enjoy that camera and find us some pictures to enjoy!!

    I love that video, too!

  2. You’ve sure got my curiosity up. Can’t wait to find out what this big secret’s all about.

Ate my lip. I know it wasn’t funny but honestly, how cute is that? Poor little thing.

  3. I’m glad you mentioned those 2 verses of scripture. They were in my lesson (Hubs and I teach 12-19 yr olds on Wed. nights – what’s wrong with me?!). They were in our pastors sermon this last Sunday – both services. And probably in Hubs’ sermon last night (somewhere I’m sure.) I’m sooooo digging into Ephesians and Philippians right now. Can’t get enough.

And I like the rest of your list, too.
    {hugs}

  4. Bless his little heart, bet Alex has a sore lip. :-(

Loved your random list of BooMama’s life, and can’t wait to hear the “Mystery” news. I can guess the gist of it, but I want the DETAILS! :-)

  5. Cracking up at that video!!!
I think this is what bloggers do when their laptop is down.

  6. What a fun list:) Your little Alex sure seems like one cute kid! And the video:):):) I love the suspense too.

  7. PS-
My post today links to you. If you get anything obscene or unwanted, let me know. :>)
    Melanie

  8. The video—oh, my, too funny! ;-)C

  9. oh.my.word. Scrape me up off the floor, Boomama.

  10. Ooh so sweet on #1 and great looking new camera! But the secret sounds very intriguing!
    funny video, love youtube.

  11. Love the video!

  12. I am so with you on the hint of fall! Just today as we sat in the baby pool, Richelle and I said, “Ok, right there? Did you see it?” And we did, really!

  13. that video rocked.

  14. OK, Go vid…..how creative and fun is that? We discovered it a few weeks ago and I must have watched it about 10 times so far! I love the part where they look like they are skating. I totally would love to try something like this with some gutzy gals for a talent show or something. I have one treadmill to add to the endeavor…..

  15. a fun continuation of your thursday thirteen from last week. i enjoyed that one too and left a invite to my tt then as i do now. i hope you can try to stop by and say hello.

  16. What a precious little guy…!!!
Can’t wait to know the secret and YES, that video is hilarious….what do these guys REALLY do??????? Thanks for the laughter.

  17. That vid is too funny. (I hadn’t seen it before, will have share with my hubby.) I definitely needed the lift. I got my new camera yesterday and am as thrilled, though mine was on the low end since it was a stretch to afford the one I got. :) It as good timing too, since my old one died completely two days ago.

  18. First off, Robin and I live in the same unnaturally-hot state, and I certainly didn’t smell any fall around here! If it dips below 100 degrees, though, I’ll know it’s on the way . . .

Thanks for the email love–yours are the highlight of my day! (night)

And last, Pace said, “That’s awesome!” about 5 times, watching this video. That’s a huge response, since he can watch an entire episode of 24 without saying a word.

  19. You are a very blessed and inspirational women. How wonderful to focus on the positive things in your life and to share them with others.

    The video was very funny!!!

  20. Glad to hear you had a happy week deep down there in the south. Up north we’re watching the leaves already beginning to blow across the back woods behind us. Fall IS coming, just hold on.

  21. What a sweet boy! So sorry for his lip :{

And the video, all I can say is I’m glad they didn’t make us do that kind of workout on them treadmills. I’d have killed myself! :)

  22. By “they” I meant the gym class leaders. Silly me!

  23. First, you seriously should NOT have posted that video b/c I’ve watched it 3x now and I still want to do that skate-thing. And? I might finally be able to do the moonwalk on a treadmill! Who would’ve thunk it?

Now I’ve bookmarked you because I HAVE to know about your big night with the Hill (did I read that right?). WOW!

  24. Between that video and a “hey sweet thing” from Alex, no wonder it was a good week!

  25. Number one just melted me. Your little Alex sounds like the sweetest little guy.
    You are so blessed.

  26. I’ve watched that video, too, from Holy Mama. Hilarious!!! We showed our youth group last week when they were over. I love the skating part best.

  27. This video is hilarious. How do they come up with things like this?

  28. #1- absolutely adorable! How old is Alex?

#3- I’m dying to hear your secret!

#6- I love the idea of an in-person recipe swap!

#7- The new camera looks very nice! We just got a new camcorder. Sony DVD 405. I can’t wait to learn how to use it!

#8- Speaking of Sarah, I’ve just published a post featuring her as my current Blog of the Week! Feel free to stop by and take a peek at her interview responses. :)

#9- I hate it when my son gets hurt too! It just breaks my heart. It is neat though that a kiss from me will make it “all better,” for now anyway.

#11- Oh I can’t wait for fall to arrive! It’s my favorite season! :)

Okay, now I’m off to watch the video. By the way, the Mom Jeans one was hilarious! I sent that one off to my sisters. They wear mom jeans. :)

  29. Love your list! Love the links! And love the video!!

Love your blog too! I think I will be back again!

Hope you had a great Thursday!! :)

  30. I’m able to comment today! It’s strange, but sometimes my firewall allows me to comment to HaloScan, and sometimes it doesn’t. I’ll figure it out one day!

Fill us in on the secret when you can! I’m so bad at secrets…I’ll wonder about this one all day. :)

BTW, how was the Faith Hill/Tim McGraw concert? I love them too!

Hope Alex’s lip is better now. He sounds like a sweet boy.

  31. Do you mind if I ask where you got your camera? I’m looking for the best buy. BTW, that video is TOO funny! :-)

Amazon. It was far and away the best deal…AND it was in stock, which was not the case at Walmart and Best Buy. :-)

  32. Use that cam and send me some new pics of that “Hey sweet thang, I missed you” precious boy!! I miss him sooooo much!!!!
By the way, I can’t even comment on yesterday’s “skinny jeans” topic – barf!!

  33. Great 13! I love those verses myself!

  34. first of all that video was awesome. my hubster even sat here and watched it with me and we loved it :)
secondly, i’m SO excited you decided on the S3! i think you will love it. as i said previously, i love mine and love how its not as bulky as an SLR (although i drool over them and would love to some day have a digital one). you will love the zoom on it, its so stinkin cool…not to mention all the other fun things that the camera can do! i must say i’m a little envious that you got the S3…it came out just after i bought my S2, but i know i got a good deal on mine, so i shouldn’t complain! so have fun with it!

  35. I LOVE PROJECT RUNWAY! And I have finally stopped watching that OK Go video, too… I didn’t even click on it here- see how good I am doing!?

  36. Sounds like a good week for you! I LOVE project runway too! I never watched it, until they started playing a marathon of them back to back from all of the old seasons. Now I’m addicted to this season like nothing else. It’s one of those shows that gets me disappointed when the hour is over.
Love the video, too! I saw them on MAD TV last Saturday. This video is much better than their choreograohy on MAD.
    :)

  37. Sweet thing! Now that is cute!!! Yep, he’s a keeper!

  38. You’ve had a great week. I love the things our children say….. I read Phil. on Monday. I have been reading through “Created to Be His Helpmeet” by Debi Pearl and Phil. was our homework.
    Blessings,
    Trixi

  39. Thanks!

  40. Oh my gosh! Is Faith Hill gonna be blogging?! Too too cool!

    That’s not it, is it?

  41. Oh, I love Project Runway!!! But ever since I got married we don’t have cable anymore so I can’t watch the new series. :( :( :(

  42. Oh. My. Gosh! That (video). Was. Hilarious!
    Great list!
Phillipians. Yes. I’m presently pondering Phillipians. Haven’t taken much time lately to post about that. I gotta do something about that.
And did I say that I love that video?!

  43. that video was so funny!!! i bet the budget for that video was LOW!!! LOL! looking forward to the SECRET being revealed!!!!! how can you keep your mouth shut!!!!

  44. I am so into blogging because of you–and In The Midst of It and Rocks in my Dryer and Created For HIS Glory. I am very new–like—today–but I wanted to comment and let you know that I have enjoyed all your stories–I share your part of the country–Go Dogs–(even though I know nothing about football) The treadmill video was great and looks like a lot more fun than what I do on mine everyday!!

  45. MicheleinNZ says:

Totally random question… how do you make sweet tea? Because I certainly prefer it sweet but I’m from California (living in New Zealand now) and you just don’t get sweet tea unless you’re lucky enough to be invited over to someone’s house that is originally from the South. And then you know you’ll be offered sweet tea or Coke and the food will be really good. So, could you give a brief tutorial on sweet tea making? Thanks, BooMama :)

Bring two cups of water to a boil. Turn off heat and put three small or one large tea bags in the hot water. Cover and steep for 20-25 minutes.

Put 3/4 cup sugar in a pitcher. Pour hot tea over sugar, then fill the rest of the pitcher with cold water. Stir and chill. Serve over ice.

Some people make a simple syrup – but I think this way is easier. :-)

  46. If my babies said that after nap greeting I would just melt into a puddle – yup – a puddle! So precious!

Oh, and just a note about your previouse post . . .you know, the 80’s. My husbands clothes are new again! He is so “hip” right now its increadable . . . he’s not tight rolling, but he’s got the purple t-shirt.

  47. MicheleinNZ says:

Thanks! I’ll make some for dinner tonight.

  48. Too, too, too hysterical. I first saw this over at http://www.xanga.com/copperswife yesterday. Fantabulous.

  49. Oh my goodness, Boomama, that video clip is hilarious. I couldn’t stop laughing and laughing. I think I must’ve watched it like 20 times. It’s a great TT list.

  50. Oh my goodness, just came back by to read some of the other comments and saw how bad I messed up my first comment. There were so many words spelled wrong… it looks like I don’t know how to write anything! I must have been tired or something!

  51. Apparently, these guys are supposed to perform this treadmill dance LIVE on the MTV awards! Just thought you’d like to know…if you don’t already. :)
