Look! A Meme!

Cheryl tagged me for this meme, and since I still owe her the whole Novel Idea meme thingy that was going around a few weeks back, I figured I’d better take care of this one ASAP lest the Meme Police come after me.

Record usage of the letter combination “me” in the above paragraph, by the way.

1. If you make sweet tea, do you use Luzianne, Lipton or _______ whatever your brand is?

Luzianne – I find it to be a little milder than Lipton and oh-so-delicious.

2. What brand of toilet paper do you buy, and is it the larger rolls or regular?

Okay – in the official WAY TOO MUCH INFORMATION department, I buy Cottonelle, 12 pack of double rolls. Why, you ask? Because there’s a yellow lab on the wrapper, and Alex thinks it’s one of our dogs.

3. Which brand of bath soap do you use? Is it body wash or bar style?

I believe I addressed my feelings about bar soap here. ALWAYS liquid. I use Softsoap Lavender and Chamomile. My favorite is Bath and Body Works Eucalyptus and Spearmint, and it’s my special treat soap.

4. Which cereal do you buy for yourself?

Smart Start or Frosted Mini Wheats

5. What brand of dishwasher detergent do you use and is it liquid or tablets?

Sunlight liquid. For some reason it works better on my dishes than anything else.

6. What is your favorite fruit to eat?

Strawberries if they’re in season. Ditto for blueberries.

7. Which brand of clothes detergent do you use?

Um, GAIN!

8. Do you like chocolate?

I’m sorry. Is there something NOT to like about chocolate?

9. Are you right-handed or left-handed?

Right.

10. Do you still write checks or use a debit card?

I’m a debit card queen. Well, really I’m a cash queen. More of a debit card princess, I guess. I write maybe four checks a year. Seriously.

Which brings me to an announcement.

If you are one of those people who is still using checks, PLEASE, for the love of all that’s holy, would you fill out as much of your check as you can before the cashier tells you your total? Because I’m telling you. People who leave their checkbooks IN THEIR PURSES until they get the total, then sort of leisurely dig around for it, pull it out, slowly flip to get to a check that’s blank, flip back to the register to check their balance, and then oh, they need their reading glasses, so they go back into the purse to search for those, and then FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER the transaction has mercifully come to a close?

That sort of gets on my nerves.

:-)

Consider yourself tagged if you want to do this one – and if you do, let me know in the comments so I can stop by and visit.

  1. Sunlight is the best dishwashing liquid. I love it! Smells good too.

  2. I loved this one. I have already posted my answers. Have a great week.
    Trixi

  3. I’m so with you on the grocery thing. These are the same folks who pull into traffic with their cart and glare at you for being on the receving end of their bump ‘n run.

I mean, do you drive your cars like this too?

    Huh. All better now.

  4. After reading this I HAD to follow your link to the prior post about using bar soap (or NOT). After reading it I would not say you are weird! Since I agree with you an everything on your list except one (I actually mix up my detergent and softener brands), I would say you are perfectly normal- even delightful!

  5. I am with you on the check writing thing but I have to point out…ok I don’t HAVE to but I will:-) It is just as annoying as standing behind someone that HAS to organize their bills and put their change in the proper compartment…I am just saying:-P You do know I love you though lol

  6. Hey darlin- took you up on it. It was kindof fun :) Hope you’re gettin’ around better now.

  7. Yup…
    Luzianne
    Chocolate
    Right Handed
    WHISK with BLEACH ALTERNATIVE
    Debit
    Frosted MiniWheats
Lemon Verbena Bar Soap (Ivory if I want to feel REALLY clean, my husband’s manly man soap if I’m missing him–yup).

    So, there you go!

  8. I’m not sure I even know that much about myself. I think for most things I buy what ever is on sale. How bad is that?
Perhaps tomorrow I’ll give it a try on my blog.

  9. we have a lot in common.

getting caught up on my memes. thanks for reminding me
    here’s mine

  10. Well, it looks like I could just command + c on yours and post it on my blog! :) If I get enough time I put mine up.

  11. Amen to the checkwriting peeve!! Also, commenting back re: the cousins getaway (because I know how you like to plan): DO. IT. We stayed at a friend’s house this time because of the sheer volume of STUFF our little ones require, but have been for a Mommy/Daddy retreat to the hotel previously…both are sooo relaxing!

  12. Cute about the dog. And, I have to add to your check writing pet peeve- people, please unload your cart before it is your turn, so the cashier can get started as soon as possible.

  13. I feel the pain of the check writers. They must have the world’s best penmanship because they fill in those blanks v-e-r-y- s-l-o-w-l-y….

  14. Hi BooMama. I posted mine on my blog. Hope ya had a good weekend and are feeling better now. =)

  15. Hello Boo Mama…this is my first post to you, but I have lurked for quite a few weeks now reading your fabulous blog! and I agree with you on almost everything!! Apart from the coke thing..(I’m english and we were’nt brought up on fizzy drinks..just tea, milk or water – and now that I’m a mature lady, red wine) I especially love that you get the dirty soap thing and that towels must be washed together..I am comforted by not being the only person with ‘ but my way soothes me’ issues..and even though I’m reading you I hear your delightful accent!

  16. I am soooo with you on people who still use checks.

I posted mine as well. :o)

  17. As if I didn’t like you enough already, now I read that you eat Frosted Mini Wheats.

Kindred spirits, we are. No doubt.

  18. I never do these, maybe I should be/c I learn a lot about my fellow blogger friends. I realize now we have a lot in common. So I did mine if you want to check it out!
    Have a great day!
    Susan

  19. I’m posting mine right now. How fun to read some of the different comments.

  20. We already know that we’re in total agreement about Gain and all its matching accessories. However….

Y’all all need to relax. That’s exactly what I do when I stand in the grocery checkout line slowly digging around to find my checkbook and a pen that still writes. It’s actually fifteen minutes of me time that I always look forward to. So relaxing…the sounds of all those (loud) sighs coming from the people in line behind me. Kind of soothing, really.

I mean, why’s everyone is such a hurry? It’s not like you’re not provided with reading material and snacks while you wait for me to finish taking my little break. They’re right there – where you AND your kids can reach them.

Geez. Y’all just don’t know when you’re being handed a chance to do nothing, absolutely nothing for fifteen whole minutes.

  21. Boomama, you are too much!! I have been wondering around your posts for about 45 minutes! Thanks for all the laughs!! You are unique and precious!

And, I agree with you about Luzianne. It is the best for true southern sweet tea!! My husband says he likes his tea so sweet that you could pour it over ice and make a snow cone (syrupy). :-)

    Thanks again!

  22. Someday when Barb is beaten to a pulp by a crowd of grocery shoppers in line behind her, the defense can use her posting and they’ll walk!

  23. Just wanted to let you know. I’ve linked to your site and answered the questions.

  24. I need Sunlight. What I’m using is just a fun way to not wash my dishes while making lots of noise and wasting hot water:)

    And I’m doing this meme:)

    :)

  25. I took the time to do this one. It was less involved mentally than the novel meme… With two kids under four, the mental involvement measurement is important. Anyway, my answers are posted!

  26. AMEN about the checks!

  27. I generally use cash or my debit card, but if I have to use a check to buy groceries I do feel like I’m getting the hairy eyeball from everyone. There’s just something about having them “fill our your check for you” that feels very creepy to me. I promise, though, it’s filled as much as possible before. Or I slink away….

  28. I just did this one today. Fun to think about!

  29. Have no fear. I write out my checks while I am waiting in line so all I have to do is fill in the amount and sign. Though I prefer my debit card.

SOunds like fun. I may have to do this one. But not today. Today is a different day.

I’ll let you know because apparently I have to catch up to few of these from various people!
