Well, I’m Just Tickled To Pieces

So I leave the blogosphere for four days and return to find out that you nice people have nominated me for awards?

Bloggy awards?

Remind me to leave more often!

Perhaps next time I have an extended absence, I will receive some cash prizes upon my return!

And to be nominated in the “humorous” category with Antique Mommy and Big Mama? Two of my FAVORITES?

Well, that’s just fun.

Really, it’s a win-win…because Big Mama and I determined months ago that we are in fact the same person, and Antique Mommy is my Cool Mama role model. Every girl needs one.

PLUS – and I believe there’s some merit to this theory – the three of us are all the mamas of “only” one child, which might indicate that mamas of one child are more likely to regale the internet with tales of our wacky misadventures. Coincidentally, given this post about catfish, this post about crawfish, and these posts about Tuna, mamas of one child also seem more likely to find themselves in amusing situations either directly or indirectly related to creatures with gills.

I’m just saying: there’s a pattern there and you’d have to be blind not to see it.

Seriously, thank y’all a bunch. It’s more encouraging than you know.

And thanks also for the nomination for the most artistic blog skin, though the credit for that really goes to Heather. She is so good at what she does, and I cannot tell you how much I am enjoying my new bloggy surroundings. Word Press is a DELIGHT, plain and simple, and Heather’s design makes me smile every time I see it. I am loving the change.

So click here to see the rest of the nominees, and in the meantime, I’m going to be planning a series of topical debates for Antique Mommy, Big Mama and me so that you can make as informed a choice as possible in your life-altering decision about how to vote in this critical bloggy election.

Because I’m all about the democratic process, y’all.

I’m all about it.

  1. I just wanted to let you know that I enjoy your writings! At times, I have laughed out loud. In a new city with few friends, I have enjoyed your stories. So, thank you for your postings! Merry Christmas to you and your family!

  2. Aww! I am so proud of you! Im blushing at all of the kind things you have said about me and my work- and I am just flabbergasted that people think my work was good enough to nominate one of my designs….

    Just wow.

Thank you BooMama, I needed this today!

  3. Congrats on the nomination. I am considering changing my blog name to include some sort of maternal reference… just kidding. I am happy for all of you! Mamas rule and Papas drool. Or not.

  4. Phyllis R. says:

Congratulations BooMama!!! You (and your co-Mama nominees) really can “take a nothing day and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile”. (I will now be humming the theme from the MTM show all night!) I love coming here for so many reasons, laughter being one of the best reasons of all. So, thank you and well-deserved! Okay, so WHO will you be wearing to the awards show? And please let us know what all you find in your nominee swag basket (Diamond I-Pod? Swiss spa gift certificate? Paris Hilton’s teacup Chihuahua?) ( :

  5. Congratulations! You all definitely deserve it! Thanks for making us smile.

  6. Awards? I leave the blogosphere for 3 days for a puke-fest and I come here to find there have been awards… Always the last to know. Off to check it out!

  7. Congratulations!! I can always come to your blog for a smile and a laugh. You deserve the nomination:)

  8. COngrats on your nominations!! Hope the move went well. We moved 1 1/2 years ago from AL to Missouri. I am still adjusting. I am having a contest so come visit. Jennifer

  9. Beth in NC says:

You are one of the funniest. I’ve been telling my Beloved some your stories. We now use the word “fireworks” a lot more often thanks to you. You just don’t know the impact you have on people’s lives!

  10. congratulations to you
    congratulations to you
    congratulations BooMamam
    congratulation to you

That’s sung to the tune of Happy Birthday, in case you are wondering why I typed that sentence so many times!

  11. Congrats to you boomama on your nominations! I have no doubt you will win!! You’re hilarious!

  12. Congratulations!! you are an icon you know… Sassy pants has become part of our family language.
I would love to see a few debates, election style and all.

  13. I keep reading you all and I think one day it will make me funny! I keep hoping. So far, I’ve added, “ya’ll” to my repoirtoire, and occassionally will capitalize mundane items to make them seem more important. This seems critical to becoming “funny”. It Really Does Work. See there. You read that twice to see why I capped.

A friend regularly tells me my posts are so deep she has to get out her scuba gear. That’s just sad. It’s just sad, I tell you.

One day, I will be funny.

  14. Totally deserved!!!

  15. I don’t know why I never caught the gills thing, it’s so obvious.

I hope you know how miserable it makes all of us out here who follow and love all three of you to have to choose. Sob.

Congratulations, Boo Mama. I’d have been shocked to not see you in this category.

  16. Awww, way to go!
    Congratulations Boo Mama!

  17. You deserve it. This place is always good for a laugh, and on the rare occasion that it isn’t (if you are seriously being serious), then it’s good for that, too.

So now I figured out my problem. I sort of think I’m a relatively funny person, but I don’t blog funny. After 5 1/2 years of having only child, I had another. Must’ve killed the comedy gene.
