A Deeply Inspiring Update

I do apologize that I haven’t posted anything today, but I’ve been ever-so-busy trying to cough up a lung.

Plus, D has now joined Alex and me in the sick ward, so between the three of us it’s just a regular Festival-O-Congestion around here.

Also: I stayed in my pajamas all weekend long. In fact, I think that between my hair being pulled back in a clippy, my ever-present thick socks, my flannel p.j. bottoms and my stunning long-sleeved t-shirts, I was quite the Valentine’s Day vision for my husband to behold.

Now I think I’ll go cough in his face all purty-like. And then blow my nose while offering him some Nyquil in a champagne glass.

I did, however, make my way through all of Rob Bell’s book Velvet Elvis, and I’ll probably post about that once I let it marinate a little longer. It made me think, for sure – and even though I ultimately don’t agree with him on several of the key points of his book, I’m crazy about his writing style.

In the meantime, be sure to visit Heather (blog designer extraordinaire) at Especially Heather to read all about an exciting new online community called Moms of Grace. Heather and her friend Laura have teamed up with 5 Minutes For Mom to develop a wonderful new way for women to get to know each other better.

Also, Shannon at Rocks In My Dryer has written an excellent post regarding internet safety – specifically in regard to posting pictures on a blog.

And I’m pretty sure that no one will cough in your face at either place.

Which, honestly, is a much better deal than you’ll find here.

  1. Feel better quick!

We had snot week at our house last month – may your sludge drain before you must buy stock in Kleenex.

  2. Thanks for the plug! We’ve had such an amazing turnout and are so excited to see where the Lord leads this ministry!

(thanks for the “blog designer extraordinaire” compliment too!)

  3. Thanks for the fetching word picture, oh Blogger We’d Most Like to Meet (but not for 7 to 10 more days, thankyouverymuch).

Baby Redneck just got over a stomach thing and now she has a respiratory thing and when she coughed real hard she tooted real big and it discombobulated her to no end. “My coff i’ in my bootie, Mom!”

    Ain’t life grand?

    Feel better, BooFamily!

A while back I wrote a review/post about Velvet Elvis myself. Feel free to check out my thoughts on it.

Also, Rob Bell has a new book coming out in March called “Sex God” regarding how closely related sexuality and sprituality are.

  5. Rocks in my Dryer says:

    Thanks for the link!

  6. I felt the same way about Velvet Elvis – very interesting indeed. Loved his writing style – but some things were a little too fluffy. Still – any book that makes me think is much better than being force-fed an agenda.

  7. Ick. We’re on the tail end of all the nastiness, so I feel for you. My hubby always tells me, oh so sweetly, not to “hack up a lung”–right at the moment I think I’m going to die from lack of oxygen. So I’m passing it on… don’t hack up a lung, ‘kay?

    Hoping you feel better soon…

  8. Oh yes, please do tell what you thought of Rob Bell’s book. I have my own opinions, none very good, and I’m interested in what others are saying. I have attended his church numerous times and grew up at the church that he did. He’s quite interesting, although in all fairness, I have never read any of his publications.

    Feel better soon!

  9. We’ve got Snot Wars happening over here too. i hope you guys are feeling better soon!

  10. I love your blog! I found it through the LPM blog and I’ve been hooked. You’ve opened my eyes to all sorts of new things about blogging I did not even know about just by exploring your blog. I now have “buttons” on my blog and I am learning so much! I don’t know how you make the time though, I am exhausted it seems all the time!

  11. Sorry to hear you’re sick! I’ve been fighting something off for a few days now, too. It’s tough when you’re pregnant and can’t take anything though!

  12. Ahhhh- go to bed love. Oh- and that gorgeous hunk of manliness at your door? John. He’s got a sinus infection and …. bronchitis!!! Just got home from Ye Olde House of Urgent Care with 4 ‘scripts. Ack!

Did I mention that after Urgent Care we got stuck in a foot of snow, during a snowstorm, 1000 or so feet down the steep hill from our 1/4 mile long driveway, sideways and sliding towards the 40 foor gulch full o’left leaning trees. You remember, THOSE trees? And it was dark. And we have NO streetlights. And we got stuck. Plain and simple. Had to hike up then back to get winched out. Ack! Ack!

Yeah. That’s been my relazing evening here in bee-u-tee-ful MT tonight.

But, that’s another post for another day. Like, after I thaw out and John is knocked out on cough meds. Ack! Ack! Ack!

  13. We have went thru 4 rounds of the creeping crud!!! My hubby and the kids have that is.
I had a mild case myself…I still have a problem if I bend over too far.I don’t know if I’m gonna fall on my face or drown first.I get off balanced with a sinus infection, and embarassed by the sniffing.
NO one wants a snotty nosed waitress..but if I keep my head up it doesn’t run…
I hope you all catch your noses and quit barking at the dog;).This cold should be called the dog-flu the way we bark all the time:)

  14. Oh, what fun. We’ve been going through illnesses, one child at a time. Everyone slept for about two hours this afternoon…which was kind of nice but kind of eerie. I have three after all, and we homeschool. Something is ALWAYS going on!

  15. Thanks for the links re: Internet Security. Even though I have a ‘private blog’ and know that by Googling, it is not easy to get to – it makes one think hard! Get well soon & Write on.

  16. We had that last week. Not any fun. Stay warm, rest, and drink lots of water! I hope that you feel better soon! Blessings!

  17. Ok–so I finally watched “The Office”. Jim and Pam will eventually get on the same page, don’t you think? By far, favorite part of the episode was Ryan batting the bouquet away from his “girlfriend” so she wouldn’t catch it. My husband missed it, but because I was laughing so hard, rewound it so he could howl, too. Feel better soon!

  18. OOH The Festival of Congestion! Come ride the Inner Ear Whirly, the Phjords of Phlegm, float down the River of Tears! It’s a Carnival!

  19. Feel better! :)

  20. I’m just wondering…have you been in my pj drawer? Your ensemble resembles the same I use to entice my hubby..:) I just can’t hardly beat him back with a stick!

  21. Sadly, I’ve been thinking on and off for a day on how to make a portmanteau of “Festival-o-Congestion,” and I’m happy to arrive at… Congestival. Thank you.

  22. Hope you feel better soon!! It’s no fun bein’ sick. : (
