Glory Revealed Live

Last night D. and I GOT A BABYSITTER AND EVERYTHING and went to the Glory Revealed concert. Y’all know that I’m just a wee bit carried away with the whole Glory Revealed project, so I couldn’t wait to hear the music in person.

Plus, you must keep in mind that I used to watch “TRL” on MTV every single afternoon from 1997-2003, so I was slightly giddy about seeing Brian Littrell and, might I add, secretly hoping that he would do a little bit of his Backstreet Boys (oh, they were STREET, yo) choreography from back in the day.

Because I think we can all agree that “I Want It That Way” was, in a word, gold.

Anyway, we didn’t get to the concert until about ten minutes before it started, and when we got to Will Call and opened our ticket envelope, we were surprised to see that we had some sassy VIP stickers. After a few seconds I realized that Brian – the super nice guy at Provident Music who donated all the CD’s for the giveaway last month – was the person behind the “upgrade.” I actually had to ask the ladies at Will Call what the stickers enabled us to do (as you can tell, I am terribly familiar with the inner workings of the music industry), and they explained that we would get to sit in special seating.

Which means, in my book at least, that BRIAN ROCKS FOREVAH AND EVAH.

We did in fact have great seats, and in all honesty it was more than a little surreal to realize that our night on the town was connected, in part, to the blawg. Now granted, blogging has afforded me the opportunity to sample different books and products (Swiffer Carpet Flick, anyone?), but last night was the first time that it’s enabled me to do something fun outside of my home. And all I have to say about that is, HELLO, WALT DISNEY CORPORATION: HAVE I MENTIONED THAT I HAVE A FOUR YEAR OLD WHO ADORES MICKEY MOUSE, SO PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME AT YOUR EARLIEST POSSIBLE CONVENIENCE RE: OUR SUMMER TRAVEL PLANS.

Oh, I kid because I’m cheap.

The concert started with a medley of old hymns, which was a little bit of heaven on earth for me. Even better, it was clear early on that not a single one of the performers was interested in drawing attention to himself or herself (sidenote: Brian Littrell did not dance. But we were in a Baptist church, so this could be part of the reason why. Pure speculation on my part, however). And seriously, there was such humility in the performers’ worship; I mean it as a compliment when I say that they got out of God’s way. I could not tell you who sang what song, but the words have echoed in my mind all day long.

I’ve mentioned before that because the songs on Glory Revealed are taken straight from Scripture, they pack a more powerful punch than some of the other contemporary Christian music floating around out there. The songs also enable me to hide Scripture in my heart, something that I’m trying to be more intentional about doing (God has really been convicting me about my tendency to justify my actions or reactions based on how I feel as opposed to what He says, but that’s probably another post for another time, as I imagine you would like to finish reading this before, you know, autumn arrives).

So, bottom line: last night was uplifting, moving and humbling. Above all, it was worshipful – with every word of every song directed to the One who is worthy of all our praise. And if you live near Ocala, Lakeland, Clearview or Atlanta, I really encourage you to check out the schedule and try to make it to one of the few remaining dates on the Glory Revealed Tour. You will not be disappointed.

Finally, here’s a clip of Candi Pearson-Shelton singing “Glory Revealed,” which is based on Isaiah 40:3-5. This clip isn’t from last night’s performance, but it’ll help you understand why, at the end of the song, I wanted to stand up and shout “AMEN,” but alas my strong Methodist heritage would not allow me to do such a thing. John Wesley would’ve been so proud of my discipline, don’t you think? :-)

If you’re interested in buying the Glory Revealed CD, check out the Family Christian website – quite a deal.

And thus concludes this spring’s Glory Revealed-A-Thon. My only defense is that when I like something, I love to share it – so thanks for indulging me.

Happy Tuesday, everybody!

Comments

  1. I am soooo jealous!!!Oh and I LOVE music! I did buy the CD so I guess playing it LOUDLY in my car will have to do for now:-)

  2. Free stuff rocks!

VIP seats? Score! :) Glad ya’ll had a fun night out.

    love, Michelle

  3. Glad you had such a super time!

and I! GOT! IT! ON! SALE!

which of course allowed me to BUY! OTHER ! THINGS! ON! SALE! TOO!

  4. So glad you had a fun night – complete with VIP seats and a babysitter!

And I can oh so relate to the God is working on me about basing things on how I feel instead of what He said. Even though I know it’s for a good cause, I’m a little tired of getting slapped upside the head. he he

  5. So glad you had a good time.

  6. Well, now I know why the Christian Music Store Sales Sister blinked at me with a faraway look in her youthful eyes when I asked her if they had Glory Unveiled. No? Maybe it was Glory Discovered? Glory Unleashed? Glory Divine? Did she possibly read a blog called BooMama? Glory Unchained? Was there a computer with internet access at the store? Glory Abounds? Maybe “Glory” wasn’t in the title after all. Did they have any new-ish CD’s by lots of famous people singing about Jesus and God and love and stuff?

Poor girl. I think her medication wore off or something because she excused herself and I didn’t see her again.

Bless her heart. She’ll be SO EXCITED when I go back armed with the proper title.

  7. Boomama–I went out and bought the CD when I sadly DID NOT WIN it on your giveaway!

I have listened to it non-stop and LOVE IT!

I heard Rick & Bubba talking this morning about the concert last night. I HATE that I missed it!

    Glad you had fun!

  8. Praise God For Babysitters!!!!

So glad you got to get away and have a little Worship/Hubby/Brian time!

Can a girl ask for anything more?

  9. Phyllis R. says:

If you like it, we like it! Thank you for the great description, which made me feel as I sitting with you in those VIP seats. (Which, sadly I wasn’t.)

LOVE the music clip. You are always so great about sharing those clip thingies. (Which I email to all my in-real-life friends, and appear to be all hip and in the You Tube loop. : )

  10. I don’t have much to say re: Glory Revealed, but I just had a conversation with someone about what a perfect pop song “I Want It That Way” is, despite the fact that it makes no sense.

  11. Glad you had a great time!!!!

    And

  12. Your looking at a closet Backstreet Boys fan!!! :D

  13. I was so disappointed that the tour is only in the south. Not all of us are so blessed to live in the Bible Belt…. we need good Christian music on the left coast too!

I’m glad you had a good time, though.

  14. Have you heard the “Harrow Family’s” music? It is all straight from Scripture and is really good, especially for kids. ALthough I have to say that, as a mom, I have learned SO MUCH from them. One is called “God our Provider”, another is “Sing the Word from A to Z”. Check them out!

Glad you had such a nice time. Date night is grand!

  15. I am enjoying my *free* Glory Revealed CD and would love to hear these guys in concert! Sounds like you had a MAHVELOUS time!

  16. I am so with you on the conviction to base more of my life on what He says vs. what I feel! I am praying to be more like Him each day, and He has been more than willing to show me where I am far from like Him and need to change. Looking forward to your post about your own struggles sometime before next fall to encourage me:-)

Glad you had a great time- and in your special seats, too!

  17. what a really amazing experience!!! i love it when life offers us little perks!

  18. Oh, we own that Backstreet Boys cd. When my kids were 2 & 4 they loved that cd. Lucky for me that year Disney had parents ears in mind when they had Phil Collins do the soundtrack from Tarzan. It was a wonderful 6 or so months of no Veggie Tales, Raffi and The Wiggles music in the car! Oh,thanks for plugging the Glory Revealed CD, can’t wait to get it later this week.

  19. YAAAAYYYYY! So glad you went. So glad you enjoyed! Hubby and I went on a beautiful drive through the mountains Sunday & played the CD the whole time. PERFECT! BTW, I’m pretty sure my husband developed a “man crush” on Mac Powell after seeing the Glory Revealed tour last week. Hasn’t stopped talkin’ about him. HAH! ;-]

  20. Okay I promise I’ll chock out Glory Revealed and all, if you’ll PLEASE PLEASE, PRETTY PLEASE blog about the Swiffer Carpet Flick!!!! I love anything Swiffer, but alas, all I own in the original Swiffer mop thingy (altho I did own the Wet Jet for a while, but it really didn’t suit my needs, since it insisted on spraying the cleaner ten feet ahead and soaking my chair and couch legs and cabinets and such…huge flaw in that design…) and I’ve been dying to check out their vacuums but am to cheap to buy them. Oh that I had a famous blog and could obtain them thru my splendid wit… Hilarious about the Disney plea!! Good luck with that one!

  21. Thanks to your suggestion, I bought the CD last week and LOVE IT! And after looking up more info on the performers, recognized Trevor Morgan–and realized I once went on a date with him in college. How funny is that?!
So glad you got to have such a fun night on the town!!!

  22. OH MY GOODNESS!!!! It rocked my world! I left there CONVICTED and UPLIFTED and more in LOVE with Jesus than ever before. Your words summed it up beautifully! Ok – when David had us stand up and then sit down if we didn’t know a verse for every year we had been a Christian….can I just say (with head hung in shame) that hit me like a lead brick square between the eyes! My friend and I were hoping we would run into you in the hall and know exactly who you are. Maybe we did pass and never knew it! Thanks for summing up my emotions perfectly!

  23. Thanks for sharing about the Glory Revealed tour!! I have been listening about it being advertised in Atlanta. We won’t be able to go, but so many of the guys are from the ATL, so it’s awesome. I actually read about how you got your name today, even though I suspected how BooMama came about. We actually have called our son Boo since he was born, just shy of 3 years ago. :) Happy Tuesday to you to!

  24. You had me at “GOT A BABYSITTER AND EVERYTHING”. Everything after that is just a bonus! ;-)

Glad y’all had a great time, I’m sure it was AMAZING!

  25. I was hoping to hear how the concert went. I am glad you had a great time. I would love to see the concert, but it’s not going to be coming to my neck of the woods! I did see Brian at a concert last summer and he did do a little of the Backstreet “thang”. I have to honestly say I don’t know that I have ever heard a whole Backstreet Boys song to completion. I do know all the girls in the crowd were screaming and all but fainting!

I loved ellebell’s comment about her husband’s “man crush” on Mac Powell. I think Mac just is such a man’s man that men are just drawn to him. I don’t mean in a weird way, but my husband thought he was pretty great from the first time we saw him in concert as well.

Have a great day and savor all the memories that will continue to swirl in you head for the next few days!!

  26. How come you only see the typos after you have already submitted your comment? :-)

  27. Being a Methodist Minister’s wife I had to laugh about your AMEN comment.
I think it is SO funny! Hubby has to beg people to answer if he asks a question during the service….We do stick with our traditions don’t we?

  28. I liked the clip and will check out the link to purchase it.
Personally, I think you should have shouted Amen! and done a little BSB dance. Maybe then you would have been ushered to the back and could have met Brian. But, we’ll never know….

  29. My husband and I are working on our own rendition of “By His Wounds”. I really MUST get the cd. Must.

Ya think they’ll ever tour Maine. Of course not. No one ever tours Maine. Maybe I’LL tour Maine.

  30. I too loved the Methodist/ John Wesley comment. I am a closet hand- waving, amen- yelling one as well.

  31. I love the Glory Revealed CD and the song, “Glory Revealed” has been a true blessing to me during the past month. I would of loved to have seen Brian up close and personal too. I once drove to an N Sync concert from Ft WOrth to Houston (4 hours) b/c I could get better seats there than in FW. So…I am a big fan of the boy bands too. Glad you were able to get VIP treatment b/c of the blog. Keep us posted on if you get to go to Disney World due to the blawg this summer. It could happen!

  32. I’m so glad ya’ll enjoyed the concert and even got VIP tickets!! Keep up the great work/ministry!

  33. Free stuff is the best, isn’t it?! How wonderful that you got VIP seats. Glad to hear that you had a fun adult night out!

Speaking of free stuff, I’m doing a book giveaway this week (giving away 2 different books). Feel free to stop by and check out the details to win! :)

  34. Hey there! I just wanted to let you know that you’ve been awarded a Thinking blogger award at There’s A Frog In My Soup – http://www.afroginmysoup.com/2007/04/thinking-blogger-award.html!

  35. Beautiful song. And you will get an Amen from me. Have a great day!

    Rebecca

  36. It all sounds sooooo awesome!!!! AND you deserved those VIP seats girl – you ARE a VERY important person ya know! :)

(I am heading to that schedule and see if they are coming to Canada!)

  37. I’m new to your site, and I have to tell you you make me LAUGH!! Sounds like a great evening (babysitter and ALL!) of VIP fun. I’ll have to check out Glory Revealed.

  38. Oh, Boomama?? Have you seen the Glory Revealed devotional book?? It is incredible…

  39. Oh yay!!! I’m glad you had fun. Isn’t it comical what blogging will do for you? How about asking for a car or a new computer too? (and if the Disney thing works, let me know!)

  40. I think that’s wonderful!

I will let the Disney folks know, that in part because of the wonderful Boomama, I did in fact download Glory Revealed. And that I do in fact plan on taking my family to Disneyworld sometime, and I’m sure that if I were able to hear a sponsored plug from this honest and big-hearted gal that I would most certainly plan that trip.

  41. It sounds like you had such great fun!!! I can’t wait to look at the website link and learn all about it!!

    Sallie

  42. Yes, you should carefully choose what you share on your blog….I just love a BMW, don’t you, and that trip to Disneyworld, yes, you should talk lots about that, too, and a big screen tv, you know, you should be in marketing! =)
Glad to hear you got “out” and had a good time!

  43. I went and bought the cd when you first mentioned it and fell in love with it! I then called my parents when I saw they were touring in Ocala,Fl. My parents don’t live far from that church, I am going to encourage/bug/annoy them till they promise to go! Thanks for sharing the clip.!

  44. You so scored on the tickets! WTG Brian! Loved your post…too funny :)

  45. I’m so glad you had some fun, and got your fun time upgraded. From now on, I won’t be able to watch those Tampax Pearl commercials and think that their ideas of upgrades just fall short of the mark you acheived. By the way, I hope maybe you’ll get a note from Disney, with maybe at least a serious markdown in the price of a package. ;) Ta for now dahling!

  46. Oooh, I’m jealous. Sounds fun. That tour is going to be here on Sunday. I think I’ll hit my dh up for it.

And, oh! I’m going to see your boy Brian Littrell tomorrow at the Dove Awards. I’ll tell him you said hello!

  47. We got to go to the Opening Night of their tour, and can I just say … I was so excited I could have peed my pants. And probably would have, if I had … you know … coughed, or something like that.

It was by far the best concert I have been to, and SPOKE VOLUMES to me … especially on the whole subject of scripture memorization and being able to repeat it verbatim and quote the reference, and all…

It was a wonderful time of worship and scripture, and yes … you’re right, they were all so humble and stood behind the cross.

I’m soooo glad you got to attend and that you had such a good time. And by the way, BL danced at our concert.

    NOT!

But he did say he was praying for his Backstreet buddy’s and their salvation, and broke off into a a couple of I Want it That Way lyrics — the whole audience cheered and laughed!

  48. How stinkin’ fun is that??? I’m glad you had a good time, and can just see all of the A list parties your going to start getting invited to. And then you’ll be asked to star in a movie, and then you’ll win an Oscar, and you’ll thank your blawg on stage, and….I guess I may be getting a bit carried away. =)

  49. This is my first visit to your site as I was searching “Glory Revealed.” I was working the merchandise table at the concert in Pensacola, FL on Sat. night. I did however sneak in during Candi’s singing of Glory Revealed and while David Nasser spoke. It was definitely one of those “emotional experiences” that he talks about in the very beginning of the book. I keep playing the CD over and over so as not to forget what God was saying to me.

I hope more people take the time to discover this project and will have encounters with God that will change them forever.

  50. Stephanie from Rhode Island says:

I had already planned to buy the cd but checked out the link to the “Glory” website anyway. Their coupon plus the sale at my local Christian bookstore meant I bought the cd for LESS THAN $5!!! That’s practically free!! I’m enjoying listening to the cd. BTW, if you are looking for scripture songs for kids check out “Psalty the Singing Songbook.”

    Stephanie in Rhode Island

  51. Very nice review, Sis. We’re quite the “see it all live” family this week. :)
