So here’s a four year old’s initial reviews of some of the attractions at The Land of Large Mouse:
Dumbo – [squeals of glee]
King Arthur’s Carousel – [big grin]
Teacups – [hysterical laughter]
Matterhorn – “I want to ride it again! PLEEEEEEASE?”
Alice in Wonderland – “That was fun, Mama!”
Space Mountain – “THAT WAS MY FAVORITE! It was a VERY! FAST! TRAIN!”
Thunder Mountain Railroad – “THAT WAS MY FAVORITE! It was a VERY! FAST! TRAIN!”
Pirates of the Caribbean – “That was pretty cool!”
Haunted Mansion – “Can we go back to ToonTown?”
It’s A Small World – “LOOK AT ALL THE EXIT SIGNS! AND LOOK! ANOTHER EXIT SIGN!”
Mulholland Madness – “I want to ride it again! Can we PLEASE ride it again?” (We rode it four times.)
Tower of Terror – “It made me very sad. Those elevators made me very sad, Mama.” (We knew we were pushing our luck with this one – but he was bound and determined to ride it.)
Jumpin’ Jellyfish – “Those parachutes made me VERY HAPPY, Daddy! Can I ride it again? PLEEEEEEASE? It made me so happy.” (We rode it three times.)
Sun Wheel – “We are up VERRRRRRY high!”
Soarin’ Over California – [completely ambivalent] “What are we doing next, Mama?”
Grizzly River Rampage – “I got VERRRRY wet! And I want to ride again! Let’s ride again!” (He rode it again.)
Playhouse Disney – “LOOK AT UNCLE TODD!”
Block Party – “I had SO much fun! I had a WHOLE BUNCH OF FUN at that parade!”
Also: New Marti jumped right in the interactive part of the block party, which made ALL of us squeal and clap with glee:
Oh my word we had fun, y’all.
So perhaps I will shower now and start to consider the possibility of choosing to walk again. My right foot is VERY, VERY ANGRY with me if the throbbing that is located down around the toe area is any indication.
But don’t worry – I will push through the pain and MAKE SOME MORE MEMORIES, DADGUMMIT.
Because that is what the Large Mouse wants.
And I am happy to oblige him.

We’ve been thinking of taking our kids (we only live 2 hours away) but have been afraid that our youngest is too young to really enjoy it (she’ll be 4 in a few months). After seeing your pictures we just might have to change our minds! :) Looks like a lot of fun!
I love that yall are lovin’ it! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it everytime you post about my favorite mouse: I’m so very jealous.
See ya real soon!
I am so glad y’all are having such a grand time! What a great trip and Uncle Todd seems like he’s having a blast as much as the neffie!!!
Looks and sounds like y’all are having a blast!! Enjoy it! :)
I cannot believe he went on Tower of Terror. Once was enough for me! I am completely impressed he braved the Tower.
Looks like you are having a great time. I am enjoying reading about it.
Wow, looks like you are having a blast. Bet you will need a vacation to recover from your vacation. I thought you guys were going to Disney World- just realized you went to Disney Land!
I’m surprised Alex went on Tower of Terror! We’ve done it several times and I scream like a baby every time! It is “ve-wy, ve-wy, sca-wee!”
So glad ya’ll are having fun! I am LOVING all the pictures!!!
So cool to get a play by play of your days with the Mouse. I can tell this will be blog material for a very, very long time, and we love it! Love the pics of A having a super vacation!
What joy! What WONDERFUL memories!!
I can’t wait to take my kids some day!
Oh my! I can just HEAR! HIM! SQUEALING! WITH! GLEE!
Glad you are having a good time. Rest that foot as much as you can! Get a stroller for you if you need to!
Glad you are HAVING! A! WONDERFUL! TIME!, Mama! But next time, take the advice that Stephanie and I give– BUY BIRKENSTOCKS! They even come in those crazy bright patterns that you love. Your tootsies would love you for it!
Now I get it! I live only 4 hrs away from LA and we’ve never yet been tempted to take our kids and money to stand in line after line and get sore feet and keep our kids from getting lost, and pay too much for slushy lemonade, etc. But now I get it. Those pictures of Alex say it all. The kids would be about exploding with joy and we would say it was all worth it. We’re gonna have to reconsider… By the way, I LOVE your blog… :)
Oh! How! Much! Fun! these reports are!!! Thank you for posting the great photos. The whole group – Alex, Uncle Todd and New Marti – look like an advertisement for the Mouse!
Thanks for sharing this. What fun memories. We have yet to make “the trip” ourselves, but I got some similar reactions from a newly 3 year old and an 8 1/2 year old at Hershey Amusement Park last weekend.
Block party bash is my favorite. And the last time we went it was around my daughter’s b-day, so she had a birthday sticker on her shirt. Those cool army guys pointed her out in the crowd and sang, “Hey, Natalie, it’s your birthday, we’re gonna party like it’s your birthday!” and kept pointing her out and calling out hello to her. Yes, we love Disney.
what is it with your blog and my family members walking in AS i’m reading it? i have had to say, “no, we’re not going there anytime soon” more times than i care to count.
again, thank you.
Did I mention Mickey Mouse Belgium Waffles? Right towards the front of the park on your left outside for breakfast??? I did? I hope you try ’em!!!
Love ya and hope your feet get to feeling better so you can have more Mouse fun!

My 6 1/2-y.o. asked me earlier tonight when we’d be going to Disney World again. He said “I’m Disney World sick. That’s kinda like homesick.”
We made our first (and only) trip to Disneyland/California Adventure a little over a year ago. I made the mistake of getting on one of the moving cars on the Sun Wheel. Oh. My. Heck. My kids ALL love Soarin’ though; that’s one of our favorite rides at both places. Grizzly River Rampage was loved by all but my then 7yo daughter. She had the bad luck of getting soaked while wearing blue jeans.
It sounds like you have tasted of the Disney magic and are now a Disney goober like me. I actually TEARED UP looking at your sweet pictures; it is the happiest place on earth!!!!
PS– Todd and new Marti get BIG thumbs up for their participation in the Disney hoopla.
It’s fun to see these pictures and share your experiences through your blog posts. One day I’m sure we’ll be taking Snuggle Bug.
I’m so glad that you all are having a great time! Sorry to hear about your throbbing foot though.
Its really too bad that Alex doesn’t smile in ANY of his pictures … I eman SERIOUSLY!!! A parent pays good money to take their child to visit an oversized mouse and his friends, and would it be too much to ask for said child to at lease feign interest in any of the rides or characters? Sheesh! He looks so misurable! NOT!!
Adorable pictures. Can’t wait for more.
So … when do you start the scrapbooking part?
I don’t know if it’s Uncle Todd’s tan or GQ hair, but he looks like a movie star!
Maybe it’s just because he’s in California. ha!
Alex’s face says it all – GOOD!!!! TIMES!!!!
I am an absolute Disney freak, but I’ve never been to DisneyLand since I’m on the east coast. I drive to Disney World a couple times a year and am jonesing to go back big time. Have to wait for Kevin, though!
Mouseshwitz.
I love that you are sharing your vacation while you are there! Looks like you all are having way too much fun!
You are a hoot. :) We love our “Land of the Big Mouse” vacations as well. They are very tiring but never disappointing.
I had to ride Thunder Mountain 9 count them 9 times in a row !
By the time we were done, my head was swimming. I was grateful that it broken down, so I would have to go “one more time mama pleeeeeeease” !
ha ha ha ha !
She is so special…….I would have done that for anyone else !
Can I just ask… is Uncle Todd single?? Is he looking for a nice christian girl? Cause I know one if he is!! LOL I’m glad you guy’s had such a great time. I’ve never been to Disney it does look like so much fun!
Your two Disney posts have brought me such joy picturing your son and all his happiness!! We love love love the Disney parks. So glad it was such a wonderful trip!!
