Back To Life, Back To Reality

So, where are all the nice people who have been preparing my meals for the last five days?

Because I have enjoyed all the nice people preparing my meals.

And strangely enough, those people are not in my house tonight.

I miss them.

So now I need to figure out what the cook-in-residence (that would be me) is going to be serving this week, and I need to make out a grocery list, and then I need to gear up for a morning of grocery shopping that will require reacclimating Alex to a world where there are no animated characters roaming the streets, no special effects when you speed down a hill, no parades at the end of the day. Which means that I need to plan some fun things for our week – just so he’s not BORED OUT OF HIS MIND by, you know, Wednesday.

It was a whole bunch of fun, y’all. Thanks for letting me share it with you.

  7. So happy you had fun (I mean, I think it’s impossible not to…)!

  8. loved living your vacation with you. and it is sad to come home to no served meals. that’s really something you should be weaned off of.

  9. Welcome home!!! Glad to hear you had a great time though.

  10. I have a recommendation that I read in your comments a couple of weeks ago when you were asking for easy meal ideas–I don’t know if you’ve tried it or not, but SOOOO good!

The pork chops w/ a packet of onion soup mix & a can of chicken broth that Tracy recommended really hit the spot for my husband and I!

Also, I thought I’d tell you that I put a link to you on my new blog. Yours is just about the only blog in my feeds that I’ll click the post to read the whole thing!! :)

  11. Yikes, the re-entry period after vacation! I feel for you, but I know you had a great time so it’ll be worth it. I love reading your blog, BooMama. You’re helping me come out of my shell a bit.

  12. Glad you’re back! Now that song is stuck in my head :) The ’80’s girl in me is coming out…I may even like dance or something!

Praying for you as you reacclimate! Normal can be a good thing!

  13. Loved your vacation! Thanks for sharing. I’m sure you will be back to normal (Is there really such a thing?) before you know it. BTW–How are the goslings? All grown up?

  14. Welcome back!! It sounds like fun was had by all. Do not worry, with your little guy around, I am sure that he will make even a trip to the grocery store very!! exciting!!!!!

  15. Welcome home! Glad you had such fun.

  16. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a cook????

I enjoyed the stories of your trip. Glad you are home safely.

    Blessings,
    Julie

  17. It sounds like you had a blast at the land o’ Disney. It was good to get your 4 year old’s perspective, as I am taking my little man on his 5th birthday this year and was anxious about taking him on any “big rides”. Looks like Alex weathered Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain.
Good luck with the post vacation let down. I am currently in the midst of it myself.

Oh, re-entry into the real world….ouch. Sometimes reality is hard to live with, huh? But ya’ll can look back and re-live it thru the pics. Alex will enjoy remembering thru all the pics ya’ll took. Have him help you make a scrapbook, or because you tend to be OCD (takes one to know one!), help him make his own!!! ;)
    Welcome home!

  19. Glad you had a wonderful vacation and a safe trip home! It is always so hard to get back into the routine of everyday life after a trip.

  20. We were so happy to read about your experiences with “The Mouse” ~ it made me SO! EXCITED! for our trip next month. The look on your son’s face (last blog entry) was priceless and reminded me of all that’s good in the world :) Thank you for sharing.

  21. I wish you didn’t have to come home! I was SO enjoying vacationing through your blog…sigh. Now I have to get back to my real world of packing and moving…it’s a mess around here. :-)

  22. It was fun hearing all about your trip. We did the Disney World thing in February and, although my kids are older, really had a great time! Glad you’re back! How are your feet? Back to normal size yet? =)

  23. I hate coming home from a vacation :( There always go by so much faster than a regular week.

  24. Did your feet hurt because of the shoes you were wearing or just the excessive walking that takes place when you are at Disney? I hope they are better.

Yes, it is such a difficult thing to come back to the real world. Our world is good, but that is like dreamland!

I enjoyed reading about your family’s experiences and what A liked. He is a pretty adventurous boy for 4! That is great!

    Have a great day!

  25. I’m so glad ya’ll had a good time! I’ve only been to Mouse World 1 time…..I was 5 yrs old. I don’t count the time that our group from church went to Orlando for a music conference, and then we scooted into Mouse World just to look. We just parked and went into certain areas and we didn’t pay. Or if we did it wasn’t much. Not sure how that worked. But anyway, hopefully one day I can take the ideas that were posted here the other week and my family go there for a few days! I believe my son would LOVE it!!

  26. I felt the same way when I returned from our wedding/honeymoon in Ireland!

Glad your vacation was a huge success. Good luck readjusting to reality. :)

  27. Howdy from Central Texas! Seeing as I have a father who moved to Orlando, I’ve been to Mouseland a few times. I could LIVE at *PCOT forever. Awesome place.

When I was in 3rd grade (that would be ’62-’63), I saw “It’s a Small World” at the World’s Fair in New York. (Our teacher took us; doesn’t that sound INSANE?) Then in ’75, while at Bible college, I saw it again at Mouseworld with my junior high Bible study. Then I got to see it again with my firstborn, who was a teenager at the time (in ’93). I don’t know about yours, but I’d say never take a teenaged boy to Mouseworld–he was bored out of his gourd (ungrateful creature). We were finished by noon. *PCOT was vastly better.

Glad you’re home safely. Post more pics! How about one of the elusive BooMama? Love you, girl!

  28. BTW, who wants to see a current pic of BooMama? Say so here and now! I want one with the cool shoes that scream “look at me!” and cute skirt. AND I want the head attached (no copping out with just a foot shot!). What say, ladies and gents? And no sunglasses, please. I hate pics of people with sunglasses on!
