I found such a sweet plaque at the thrift shop yesterday.
It only cost twenty-six cents, but as soon as I saw it, I knew it was a treasure for our little family. It’s a poem written by Arthur Guiterman, and I absolutely love the words:
And be the lintel blest;
And bless the hearth and bless the board
And bless each place of rest;
And bless each door that opens wide
To stranger as to kin;
And bless each crystal window pane
That lets the starlight in;
And bless the rooftree overhead
And every sturdy wall;
The peace of man, the peace of God,
The peace of love on all.”
Blessings to you, sweet friends.
That poem is so heartwarming, BooMama. It’s lovely. :-)
Love and hugs,
Diane
Just goes to show that even the “cheapest” treasures can be priceless! That is a beautiful poem. I’m going to link to this on my blog…everyone should read that. =)
Hugs,

That is a wonderful find. The words are beautiful. (I have something for you over at my place, BM…. pop over and see)
What a beautiful house blessing. I totally forgot about finding treasures like this in thrift stores. Sounds like I need to go shopping!
that is an absolute treasure
A lovely blessing; thanks for sharing it.
I have to ask…did it really cost $0.26? That just seems such a strange amount; why not leave it at $0.25? or round up to $0.30? Oh well, a good deal indeed.
What a fruitful trip to the thrift store.
Plague . . . 26 cents.
Words of blessing . . . priceless!
My Granny always said, “one woman’s junk in another woman’s treasure.”
Twenty six cents??? Where do you live? I need to hit that thrift store! (Really, don’t have to tell me where you live, just jealous of your deal!)
That’s just beautiful!
That is what I like to call a perfect purchase :)
I think my mother had that-I love the art around the poem- Where are you going to put it?
Very beautiful. :-) Thank you for sharing. :-)
Does it make up for the lack of donkey candle holders…just a little?
That is so sweet!
A woman after my own heart! My all time favorite pasttime is thrift store shopping and we have oodles of them around here! Had to have a dress to attend a wedding last weekend and shopped at every mall and clothing store in a 50 mile radius only to come up empty handed. I finally decided to check out the thrift stores and found the perfect dress at the first one I stopped at. And for $6.99 how could I go wrong? Guiltless shopping for sure!
I love old scrip and hymns that is a treasure.
I was over at Mother and Daddy’s house this afternoon and I added you and Bigmama to Mother’s favorites list on her computer- Her name is MAAARTha too! She got the biggest kick out of the MAAArtha and Sissi stories!! Keep em coming- Mother Maaartha in Jackson, MS will be reading ya!
Oh, I love thrifting & yardsaling too. I was out again on Friday & Sat. & probably not too far from you! What a neat little plaque. I hit the thriftstores occasionally, but find more at yardsales.

Just read your other post about the estate sale. I went to one too on Friday a.m. & wonder if it’s the same one! Yours sounds like it was more reasonably priced than mine though, so I think maybe not. Anyway, love that little end table & it sounds like you really got some good stuff. I only bought a couple of things at mine…everything else was pretty high! Good for you.
