I am delighted to report that the extreme hair makeover was a smashing success.
I don’t think I’ve ever been more pleased with my color / highlights, and the cut is oh-so-fun.
It’s a Hair Miracle!
When I walked in the salon yesterday morning, Liza took one look at me and said, “So I think you want to look more modern, no?”
Yes, Hair Wizard. Yes, more modern. With purpose.
And so she blended and foiled and cut and razored and cut some more. And then she handed me a mirror and gave me a tutorial on how to style the new ‘do – because apparently the way I’ve been using my round brush in the past is WRONG, ALL WRONG, and I’m going to have to re-train myself.
But it’s okay. Because I’m TOTALLY committed, y’all.
The final result? Longer in the front so that it frames my face and curves down to my chin – but shorter in the back – straight across the top of my neck, in fact. So it has a funky element to it, but it’s much more manageable.
Primarily because it’s an actual style now. As opposed to a washed-out mass of split ends held securely in place by a pair of scratched sunglasses.
And I really would post pictures, but I’m at Mama and Daddy’s and have no idea how to edit pictures on their computer. Please remember that I am a Mac person, so if a computer is not equipped with iPhoto, I am completely clueless in terms of the cropping and the exporting and the posting. So you’re going to have to use your imagination – which should be interesting since, well, many of you have no idea what I look like.
Oh, the internet is kicky fun, isn’t it?
Anyway, I am very well pleased. Delighted, in fact.
And Liza is a wonderful wizard indeed.
I just have to say. Hi Siesta! I found your blog on another siestas page and I’m so happy that I did! You are hillarious! Hope you don’t mind if I add you to my blog!
Blessings,
Suzi
Pastor’s wife will use the fruit of the Spirit called patience to wait for the pic.
hahaha!!! Laughing at your being committed to learn how to use the round brush in a new way!
Don’t you hate when stuff like that happens? I’m like – dude! Why didn’t anyone tell me I was doing this wrong like…er – years ago!? Congrats on ‘modern’ new cut :)
That must be the in style, because a few weeks ago that’s how my scissor wizard did my hair! I have curls, so I straighten the front on the sides of my face and then have curls in the back and let me just say…I LOVE! It’s completely off my neck..
GO girl! Can’t wait to see a picture.
Very fun, we’ll just imagine for now! I had my hair makeover the other night and specifically wanted non-Mom hair. I definitely don’t have Mom hair now!!
Steph
so glad the trip to the wizard was a smashing, heel-clicking success!
can’t wait for pics and not pics from the wii either – ha ha !
A happy hair ending. You are not getting out of posting a pic that easy. You know we all expect one when you get back home.
OK…I agree with Jill. You are not getting out of this picture thing that easily. If you can do a step-by-step pictorial on how to fry a tomato, then I know you can post a picture of the back of your head.
Give your fans what they want. I have no imagination. I can’t begin to conjure up how cute your hair is. I don’t know that I have seen hair with a purpose in a really long time.
We will wait until you get home, but you MUST post a picture. We’re waiting on pins and needles!
Congrat’s on the new transformation working out for you. The last that I tried a transformation, I ended up with hair shorter than my husband. Don’t worry, on the third day, I cried. I’ve since fired my hair girl and are currently looking for a new one. Y’all know a hair wizard in NE Ohio?!
How fun! I just love a new do; and naturally, I think it requires a new outfit or 12. =)
Are you kidding me? No picture? After ALL THAT?! What if I want the exact same miracle and purpose?
Maybe if I just print off this descriptive post and take it to my nearby wizard, your gift with words will be enough and I too will be more modern, no?
So glad the hair cut is “dramtic” and not just more fodder for “drama.” I agree. Hair is the issue of life of all women! Blessings on your bloggy way of looking at life and finding the humor in it! jean stockdale
I’m so glad you’re thrilled with your new ‘do. I only have one question. Does your hair wizard work outside her actual salon, as in, taking a road trip up north? Way up north! ;v)
Whew. What a relief. I was on pins and needles, worried that no news meant horrible, very bad hair news. So glad that it just meant Happy Hallelujah Hair!
Enjoy your new look! Fun, isn’t it?
Oh, I just love to go to a Hair Wizard type stylist where I can say “make it cute and modern” and they just go to work. I have no idea what is cute and modern, that’s their job, lol! I’ve never been disappointed that way. If I go in with an exact idea of what I want, it’s never quite what I wanted and then I’m not so happy. I’d rather be surprised!
Your hair drama posts remind me of Beth Moore’s hair drama in the bible study she did about Patriarchs. Very funny!
NO fair! I’ve heard of teasing your hair…but it just isn’t right teasing us with this fabulous news…and making us wait to see the new do! All in due time…I suspect….
Enjoy!
Diane
But puhleeze promise that you will post pics when you get home!!!!
Yay for hair with purpose! So glad the wizard was able to work her scissor magic and bring out the purpose in your hair that has been itching to make itself known!
I have been out of town for the week and just got home last night. I had to catch up this morning on your posts. When I left you had hit the bloggy wall….I’m so glad you broke through that wall, because your posts have been great this week! Reading about the fried green tom. and sausage this morning has made me hungry for some!
I know what you have been going through. I finally went and got the cut, but now I have got to go this week and get the highlights/lowlights. Looking at the grey in the mirror all week has driven me crazy!
It’s great to be back and catching up!!
Ah!!!!!! I wanna see it! :D You’ll just have to send a pic when you get home. Glad you like your new ‘do. I want mine done like Steph’s. Her red highlights are awesome!
Ooh, is the salon anywhere near the Mississipi/Alabama border?
If so, could you post or email the name? Please?
i will be patient while you go back home and post the photos.
mmm. you said before that our hair needs goals. great. fabulous. i think if you saw mine you would agree that it’s goal has been- “stay firmly afixed on top of head in some sort of 16yr old wannabe cutesy knot while trying not to notice that though i plan on hanging beautifully around the shoulders and being the crowning glory, all i seem to be accomplishing is giving heather a headache!”
i have had FABULOUS hair like the cut you are so sweetly sporting now ( imagining you in my head swinging your locks from side to side, eyes closed and smile on face)
but i am “growing it out” now that it is split, hanging and dry at my shoulders i’m ready to cut. how can i break this to my hubby?!
:)
Yes, we demand a picture upon arrival at casa de Boomama! It sounds adorable. Between you and Steph, I’m rethinking my plans to grow mine out.
I need a hair wizard. My shoulder length curls could certainly be more modern!! Please post a picture for us when you get home. The cut sounds super-cute!
Can’t wait to see a picture! Glad it was a smashing success!
Now Sista, you are not off the hook. We are waiting for those pics! Get out the mask to cover your face, at least let us see the cute hair cut. Be sure to include a view of the back. I don’t think you want the internets to use their imagination, some of them are pretty wild. :-)
Can’t wait to see the new do! I actually went to the Salon Thursday and released my inner funk too! Here’s to being liberated! (You can see the new do at my blog…the cut isn’t very funky but wow, the color!)
Can’t wait to see pics! It kinda makes you feel like a whole new woman, doesn’t it?
And, boy, could I use me a Hair Wizard right about now too.
Know anybody that makes house calls?
I have been chortling for the past two days about your hair catastrophes and fixes. My poor husband hears me cackling, and I just have to tell him…”Oh, Honey, it’s just Boomama…she just cracks me up”. And the reason? The reason is…cause it’s all true. You speak for the masses, my darlin’ Boomama. Congratulations on your new ‘do!
Yay for you! :) Glad you’re so happy with it.
Could I borrow that wizard? I’m hating my hair these days!
Woo hoo!
Yes, oh yes…you must post a picture, even if it’s the back of your hair. You might just sit in front of me in church one Sunday & then I’ll know it’s you! LOL I need a haircut & new ‘do too…in a really bad way.
Rhoda in B’ham
Your new “do” sounds so cute! Wish I could see.. I got mine trimmed Tuesday.. It is short and naturally curly.. it drives me crazy but I am learning to work with it more…sigh… Maybe you can put up a pic soon…. Hi to Sister!! Hope you are doing well… Have a good week..it was good to hear from you!! :) xo
You at LEAST must do a Wii caricature of your new “do”…….it’s a MUST SEE! Can’t wait now………!
you MUST post a picture when you get home!! I can’t wait to see!
I am sure it looks just wonderful!
Does Liza travel?? I think we could all use a Hair Wizard in our lives.
I *CANNOT*WAIT* to see a picture of your new ‘do!!!
So glad you like it :)
So you went with a mahogany base and pink highlights? Interesting choice. And bringing back the crimping iron–a stroke of pure genius! It’ll make more sense now when you wear the black and white striped knee socks with those orange converse sneakers you love so much.
Please don’t leave this to my imagination. It can be a scary place.
Not many can get away with 2 posts on a hair cut without posting pictures.
Well, I’d like to see a photo. But more importantly, I want to see your updated Mii.
Like everyone else, I would love to see a pic. But for anyone yearning for Hair with Purpose, I have one product suggestion for you: Root Boost. Handy link:
http://tigihaircare.us/tigi/catwalk/archive/2007/02/28/root-boost.aspx
My sister resisted it when I first tried to suggest it to her, but now she’s as slavishly devoted to it as I am.
Seriously, y’all. It’s the bomb.
oh please post pics. when you get home. I really want to see. I have been thinking about this same cut for myself, at least the way you describe it sounds like it. I really want to see.
I have been at my own Momma and Daddy’s for over a week (more dial-up over in Louisiana) and have not had the patience to wait for their computer train to arrive at the internet station. I missed the hair trauma this time but can’t wait for you to get home to send us some pics.
Soooo, just how big was the tip????
