Hello how are you my name is BooMama and this is my blog.
I think.
Honestly, I wish I had a better reason for why my presence here the last week or so has pretty much amounted to “Hey! Want free purse?” or “Hey! In Nashville!” or “Hey! Have question for singers?” or “Hey! Here is podcast!”
But the bottom line is that I’m struggling a bit with this thing they call time management. I can’t seem to carve out any time during the day to sit down and write without interruption, and then at night – which is usually my prime time for cranking out A Heapin’ Portion of Average – it seems like before I can turn around it’s ten o’clock and I am just too tired to try to put the words and the sentences together.
Also: the email. The email is a big, unanswered pile right now. And I love the email. I love reading the email. I love responding to the email. But alas, I am failing miserably with the email. Just in case you were wondering.
I’ve been working on a re-cap about Deeper Still for about, oh, forever, and I will get at least the first part of that posted sometime today. But tonight is when Wednesday night church activities kick in for me, so odds are that I won’t be doing any writing or emailing ONCE AGAIN because I will be small grouping and singing instead.
By the way, you know how I had that thing with my ear? And how I thought my singing voice would improve dramatically as a result of my Bionic Woman-type hearing? Well, I was wrong. I sound just as bad as I always have. Now I just hear all the badness better than ever before.
Really, it will be no surprise whatsoever if I find myself sitting alone in the alto section tonight. Because I now realize that in the past when I thought I was singing harmony, it was actually “harmony(?!?)” – a sound that would displease the ears of any mortal man.
And yet somehow it’s a joyful noise unto the Lord.
If that’s not grace and mercy in action, people, then I don’t know what is.
But the good news is that I know life will settle down soon, and I actually have two things coming up that make me very excited indeed:
1) We’re going to see Monk & Neagle with Emma Kate and her hubby.
2) I’m doing another CD giveaway in the next day or two.
Honestly, I think if someone were to ask me about my idea of a perfect day, the best possible scenario I could think of would be hanging out with my boys, eating fried chicken, drinking diet Coke (OVER ICE!) and giving away CD’s to the internets. With Monk & Neagle playing live in our dining room.
And you know, now that I think about it, that perfect day will pretty much be within my reach the night of the concert. I won’t be at home, of course, but I’ll have D and diet Coke and Monk & Neagle and a giveaway going on here at the blawg.
Hey – do you think M&N will care if I take me a bucket of chicken into their show?
I’m guessing they probably wouldn’t go for that.
But a girl can dare to dream.

Yay! I actually finally saw Monk and Neagle last week when I went to actually see Shane&Shane. I must say, they were pretty darn good!
And hey, you’re right. We are to make a joyful noise unto the Lord. But it doesn’t say it has to be IN TUNE. Keep on singin’! And have a fabulous time at that concert!!!
Sounds like you are experiencing that season of where to begin and what to do and when…I know that time. A day and step at a time…that’s all. He’ll do the rest.
‘Wish I could sing right beside you. I find that I miss choir so much! Alas, here in Colorado, choirs are not in abundance. So I have a choir of one and an audience of one…and He thinks I sound wonderful :)
With love,
Holly
I’ve been in a blog funk lately, too! I want to write about Deeper Still, but I just can’t get it to sound as fabulous as it really was!!!
I understand – it’s when real life happens and it interrupts interweb life.
Go live your real life! and be daring – take you some chicken.
Sounds like you need a vacation! Hey, go have a spa day, why not, right?! LOL.. have a great week..
God bless,
Sallie
Saw them last night. I must say that I really don’t think they would mind the bucket of chicken. As long as you shared.
They were terrific. I just loved them! Thanks for enlightening me about the up and coming artists I’m missing out on.
I’m with ya… my hubby is gone this week at a training exercise (preparation for when he heads to that Sandy Spot across the globe in a few months… ick.) and I had visions of all sorts of bloggie goodness springing forth with all the time I’d have on my hands. Ha. Suuure. With a toddler?
I’ve barely kept up with MY blog-related email this week, so I can’t even imagine what you’ve got on your hands. The good thing is that the blog world doesn’t go anywhere when we do… :)
There must be something about September. I just posted yesterday about the fact that I’ve been too busy to blog or even think lately. Only I feel less pressure because only about six people read my blog, not 300 or so like you :)
I’m with the others here, bring chicken.
I went to Women of Faith last weekend, and I absolutely loved Anita Renfro (sp?) – partly because she sang a song about how singing off key and clapping off beat are ok. She was speaking directly to me with those 2 :).
the ‘harmony’ thing makes me laugh. i have a near and dear friend {n&df} that claims that she has a natural gift that just lets her ‘harmonize’ with everyone. in other words she is tone deaf but won’t admit it. but the Lord loves all voices when we sing praises unto HIM. and good for you for singing alto–know so many people who SHOULD be singing alto, but think they’re a high soprano. LOL!!
Go and have a wonderful time. We seem to be doing just fine with all these contest, travel and podcasts.
I say take the chicken. Diet Coke just begs for chicken to accompany it. Plus, it may help with your not singing the words to the M&N songs, which you know you already know by heart. This is not really a dig at you, Boomama; I’m just thinking of the audience around you…
Otherwise, I say sing your sweet heart out because it IS a joyful noise unto the Lord!
Enjoy your blog break. You work so hard for us internets. We will be looking forward to when you get your blog groove back. Original or Extra Crispy??
Sunni is feeding us Babe’s fried chicken at bunco on Monday. Wish you could come! It will be the first one ever with no subs. I wonder why!
I’ve told our choir at church for years that as long as you’re singing unto the Lord, He will a) send angels to fill in the “rough” spots, and b) annoint the ears of the folks in the congregation to hear beautiful sounds (even if the notes and words are off-key and wrong). So get your musical praise on Boomama. As a choir director, I’ll take a true worshipper with an offkey voice any day!
I’m encouraged to know that even my favorite blogger (yes, that’s you!) sometimes suffers from Blogger’s Block. : )
Well, at least you are brave enough to sing. Reed and I have put in many an hour of lip syncing during church hymns.
Yeah. We’re that bad.
And good for you to understand the whole idea of going with the flow. Your priorities are right on target. The flow will lead you back to blogging in due time.
Now for some reason I’m wanting to make a Quickie Chickie run for dinner. hmmmmmm…… ‘Cept I prefer my ice to do it’s floating in Dr. Pepper. :)
Lucky you, that you get to go to that concert!
And boy, do I hear you about the time management issue. Seems to be going around like crazy out here.
I struggle with time management, too, and never seem to have a block of time to write in my blawg. . .I always have many thoughts running through my head but no one benefits from them unless I write them down. I hope to write about “Deeper Still” soon, too.
But, tonight I have a “date” with my 24 year old son! He texted me on my phone today and asked if I wanted to go out to eat tonight with him. I’ll never turn down a date with any of my boys! And it will be a perfect evening!
Isn’t that why they’ve added vitamins and minerals to Diet Coke?
I read a book by Carolyn Mahaney and her three daughters called shopping for time. I really recommend it. It has changed my life as far as time goes.
Jealous! You are going to see Monk and Neagle, I want to go too!
Great Blog.. I will definitly read more..
Thanks
Girl! I hope you take your bucket of chicken! lol
And no worries – I haven’t had a spare time to post anything new recently anyway! Permission girl!
I think if you find a woman who doesn’t struggle with time management, well, then she is DEAD!!! I’m feeling your struggles.
As for the chicken….they’d probably just tell you to bring enough for the band!!! This isn’t a tailgating event???????????????????? ;)
Amazing, how is it I got busy, and now have MORE time to write? Very weird.
Anyway, its just a season, and I am sure God has something awesome planned for your life that you cannot yet see, but its blinding to the eye from heaven…
Just keep trusting, and loving, and just being God’s girl..and you will be just fine:)
Be Blessed:)
Angie
First, a dumb northerner thing to ask. Doesn’t the Diet Coke water down when you put it over ice or do you gulp it all down right away. Maybe it’s me, but I want full strength all the way, sister!
Secondly, I sing second soprano or soprano or whatever comes out of my mouth. I also can’t read music, but somehow I manage in the choir and they haven’t kicked me out yet. And, the Lord finds our voices joyful, so I think that is all that matters!
It sounds like your a successful blogger! :) You know, most of the bigger bloggers out there gave up a long time ago on replying to each and every email and comment. And the good news? Everyone still loves them and reads their blogs daily. :) We get it. We understand. We love you.

I’m jealous about Deeper Still. I’d be more jealous if Beth hadn’t come to Rhode Island last month. I had a hard time writing my LPL recap at first too. I think it was hard to put something so intense into words without it sounding corny.
THey just might not mind the chicken if you offered them some. Who doesn’t love fried chicken.
Take whatever break you need. Your readers are loyal and love you and will forgive you some time off. Especially if you bribe us to stay around with purses :)
I’m so with you when it comes to gettin’ me some diet coke over ice….ain’t nothin’ better. Also I LOVE Monk and Neagle…they are new to me, but what a fun sound…wish they were coming to my neck of the woods, but they aren’t getting this far south…enjoy your concert, your fella, your chicken and your diet coke!
Time Management skills elude me. But I do hate it when life gets in the way of things I love, like blogging. Enjoy your perfect evening.
I just wanna tell you that your my bloggin’ hero! I can’t get enough of you! You always make me smile, laugh and just think. You are an inspiration, and just a joy to read everyday, whether it’s a long post, or just a short one. I’m sure God led me to your blog…
Thanks for entertaining me nightly!! =)
Take a Chick-fil-A in, that will be in a bag, not a bucket and will fit fine into your purse.
