Agrotourism, Trip Advisor, And A Whole Lot Of Beets

This week’s episode of “The Office” (sorry. I’m a little late with the post.) was perhaps the sweetest episode yet. You can pretty much take your pick of tender (though sometimes awkward) moments: Dwight crying in his room, Pam and Jim being sensitive to Dwight’s broken heart, Jim consoling Dwight on the stairwell, Jim walking in the office and giving Pam a big kiss, and Jan telling Michael that he’s a good man, just to name a few. Or to name five, as it were.

But in true “Office” form, there was still plenty of funny to go around. Some of my favorites:

1. Kelly Kapur making the “Whatever, Big L” gesture at Darrell
2. Andy “casually” standing at Pam’s desk with his feet about five feet apart
3. Jan’s glare at the camera when she was picking up Michael from his second job
4. Andy wrangling Garbage the cat for Angela
5. Creed’s strategy for getting rid of debt

And I don’t know why, but Ryan’s cheesy beard and bright-colored shirts CRACK ME UP.

Feel free to share your favorite moments in the comments.

And for what it’s worth: if Jim kissing Pam didn’t make you at least think about saying “AWWWW,” then clearly you have a heart of stone.

  1. Oh, I awwed, then rewound (via TiVo), then awwed again! I love this show!

Michael “declaring” bankruptcy was the laugh-so-hard-no-sound-comes-out moment of the show for us. He reminds us of too many adolescent boys we’ve worked with through the years. And maybe that’s the appeal: he comes off as child-like instead of just a bad boss.

  2. Makes me wish I had a television. Rats.

  3. “In fact….I’m IN LOVE with Italian food.”

  4. “I. DECLARE. BANKRUPTCAAAAAAAAAAY!!!” Oh, how we laughed.

I actually teared up and hit my husband when Jim kissed Pam. I seem to tear up and hit him a lot when I see sweet things on the TV, now that I think about it. He’s always like, “HEY. What’d I do?!” Hmm…

  5. Kelly is my favorite character this season. She is a nutcase. Darryl was cracking me up with the way he was handling her.

  6. “Daryl is the most complicated man I know. I mean who actually says what they mean?”

    Yeah, Kelly rocks.

  7. I think Michael is the Barney Fife of our time. I love him!

  8. For those who missed it, or don’t have tv, the entire episodes are available on NBC’s website beginning the day after the show airs. Yeah, at 9:30 I realized I had forgotten to turn the tv on. I’ll be watching it online, tonight! Can’t wait!

  9. I actually don’t watch “The Office” (I know, but I’m not a TV watcher really), but I’m about to make y’all really ill, so sit down…

One of my best friends just got back from California, where she went to a Kings game and ended up in the skybox next to NBC’s, in which were several cast members of “The Office” (including Steve Carrell) and several cast members of “Heroes,” the ONE show I do watch.

Yes, she met all of them.

No, I will not be speaking to her ever again.

  10. I’m usually a lurker… but, um… you’re talkin bout the Office!! :)
I don’t remember the exact words, but I loved it when Darrel told Kelly to “access her non crazy side” or something like that! Oh yeah! Darrel is so gonna put that girl in her place. And Dwight reading to Jim, Pam and Mose from the Harry Potter book was AWESOME! I wonder if you can get him reading the whole thing on CD??

  11. I loved Michael’s “power point, power point, power point” and then the conference room discussion about whomever and whoever – I love the group scenes and that one was hilarious…

  12. Nothing says you have PMS like crying during an episode of The Office! Jim’s comments in the stairwell and kissing Pam got me.

  13. I laughed the hardest when Jim and Pam were driving up to Dwight’s B&B and that guy Mose was running next to the car!

  14. Kelly is one of my favorites this season. She is such a nutcase-she cracks me up. I loved it when she told Darrell that he was going to have to choose between her and his daughter. I love Pam and Jim together.

  15. WHOMEVER- the new word of the week at our house.

  16. The whole part with Jim and Pam at Dwight’s B&B was priceless! I love when Jim was talking about that was not how he imagined their first trip together. And Andy giving Garbage the cat to Angela, too funny. Oh, and Michael at his second job. I love when he brought up the fact he had written a movie script! That was a funny episode if you missed the first season.

  17. “Americana, Irrigation, and Nighttime”
    “Irrigation…”

    “I’d say 1 in 6.”
    “What?”
“I thought you asked the chances that we’d get murdered tonight.”

    When Michael telemarketed Stanley? Hysterical!!

  18. Donna (coaching in GA) says:

    Hillarious!!! My favorite lines include.

Jim to Pam upon settling into their room at the Schrute Farms Beets Motel “1 in 6 …I thought you asked me what our chances of being murdered tonight were.”

Michael calling Stanley at home from his second job (with his best Latino/Indian accent) “Senior, are you happy with your long distance service?!”

Very funny Dwight monologue about the Schrute family tradition that resulted in him being given a bag of wild oats with which he can do anything he chooses!

Darrell to Kelly, “You need to access your non-crazy side or maybe this thing has run its course!”

And the best… Michael to Jan after she came to talk him out of running away on the train, “Don’t sell your implants.”

  19. Love the “power point”, and the guy (Mose?) running alongside the car absolutely did me in!

Oh,and Michael “declaring bankruptcy” was classic.

    Love.that.show!

  20. I personally loved when Michael was eating dinner with his telemarketer co-worker. The guys says he was a surgeon “back home”. Michael goes on to muse about what he would be “back home”, then he decides he would be the chief of surgery or a cowboy! Bless his heart.

I loved it when Dwight turned to hug Jim in the stairwell. Poor Dwight!

  21. Loved the “whomever” vs. “whoever” discussion and when Kelly Kapur said, “Ryan used me as an object” under her breath, I thought I was going to lose it.

  22. When Michael said to the co-worker he shared dinner with (I can’t remember the guy’s name) at his “improv” gig…

“So, what’s a medical degree cost in your country? Like $40.00 or a donkey?”

  23. Oh, this show! I LOVE it.

As a former English teacher, I loved the whomever/whoever debate in the conference room. And then, as usual, Toby was right. And Michael saying, “Shut up, Toby. Nobody asked you any anything – ever . . .” Poor Toby!!

  24. Favorite part? When Michael Scott walked out into the office and screamed, “I DECLARE BANKRUPTCY” like that was how one does such things…

    PRICELESS!

  25. Oh, it is just so good! Michael declaring bankruptcy!! Jim kissing Pam!!!!!!! Love it! There’s just too much funny about this show. I could watch it over and over. Loved the whomever discussion and the comment Daryl made to Kelly about accessing her non-crazy side. Mose!! He cracks me up. I’m definitely hoping to make a trip to the Beet Farm soon. Maybe we can get a group rate!!!

  26. I was so happy to see Jan start acting a little bit less like the New Jan. I have always loved her character and her wacky relationship with Michael, and I was a little sad when she turned into such a, well, you know…

I also loved Michael’s second job, Kelly and Darryl’s parts (how Darryl said he gets excited every time he sees that little dude), Michael saying about Powerpoint that there was little chance he would have figured it out anyway, the entire part about Shrute Farms.

I think it may have been my favorite episode yet!

  27. I agree… I think this was my favorite episode yet! Michael declaring bancruptcy, calling Stanley from his 2nd job and trying to cover his voice, Jim kissing Pam after consoling Dwight, and Andy… “I moonwalked past her office like 5 times and she hasn’t paid any attention.” And at the end… so glad to see Dwight was back. And all was right in the world (or the office anyway.)

  28. Jim kissing Pam.
Jim talking to Dwight in the stairwell.
    Michael calling Stanley.
    The whomever/whoever conversation.

  29. “Quaint Tuscan beet farm.”

  30. I loved when Darryl came up to Kelly and told her exactly what he wanted and what he thought
and then she looked in the camera and said “who tells you exactly what they want. What kind of game is that?”
    LOL!!!
    I love me some OFFICE!
    Kim

  31. I loved your post and all the comments. The show was one of the best ever, with the combination of comedy and heart! I loved how it showed the “human side” of Pam, Jim, Dwight, Michael and Jan. Dwight’s back…hurrah!

  32. The best line by far was Andy “I come from a line of WASPs so long it leads back to Moses.”

    Ahem.

  33. totally loved it!

  34. Oh, I laughed. Especially at the “bang, bang, bang” sound in the middle of the night that was Dwight’s brother in the outhouse.

  35. My fav. show. Dwight Schrute? My hero.

  36. The best part was Darrell telling Kelly to “access her not crazy side”
