HEY! MORE QUESTIONS!
Amy asks: Are you planning on homeschooling? Because we need more people who drink cokes from Sonic to homeschool. Seriously.
Oh, Amy, I would love to represent the Sonic-Coke-drinking contingent in the homeschooling community. But as it stands, I don’t think I’m going to be a homeschooling mama. I’ve always been open to it – and I still am – but we’re pretty sure we know what direction we’re going in with the school stuff.
If it’s any consolation, I think the route we’re going will include people who have a healthy appreciation for the Cokes from Sonic. So we feel understandably good about that.
Amy asks: do you plan on having more children? i am perfectly content with my one…it wasn’t easy to get this one here, much less another. just wondering your thoughts?
I have said ever since Alex was born that if he is the only child we ever have, we are blessed beyond measure. And I still feel that way. There are times when I think that I would love to have another baby, but I just don’t know that another baby is what God has in store for us. I have total and complete peace about that. My prayer has always been that Alex will have friends who are like family to him – whether he has a brother or sister or not.
So, to sum up: if another young’un gets added to the mix at some point, I’d be tickled to death. But if Alex is our only, I’m tickled with that, too. Because the bottom line is that I love our little family. I love being Alex’s mama – and absolutely adore sharing life with him. He’s the best.
Lauren asks: I wonder how you have the time to ‘run’ such a successful blog. You know: all of the 5 million comments, questions, finding time to blog, moderating, updating the blog list, etc.
I am starting an info website and having oh so much trouble trying to fit it in.
There have definitely been times when the blog has been a serious time-management challenge. It can still get a little crazy, but in a way it’s easier now than it was two years ago – because now I have the security of a pretty steady audience. That’s HUGE – because I don’t really think too much about stats and my SiteMeter and whether or not people will show up again if I skip out of blogland for a few days.
That’s a luxury I do NOT take forgranted, by the way.
I do read all my comments, along with all my emails. And responding to those emails is absolutely, positively my biggest challenge time-wise. I want to answer every single one of them, and I still struggle with the realization that I can’t.
Well, I mean, I could – but then my family probably wouldn’t have any groceries or clean clothes or playdates or, you know, fun. So when it’s all said and done, dedicating lots of energy to email just isn’t the best use of my time…but I have to remind myself of that every single day.
And my last fit-it-all-in secret? I stay up way too late at night. But it’s quiet then, and it’s when I really love to write. So that works out pretty well.
seaside asks: What does your sister do in Nashville that she gets to meet and go to all those fabulous events?
Well, it probably isn’t a surprise that she works in the music industry. And among other things, she coordinates special events for the place where she works – things like awards dinners and artist parties and whathaveyou.
As an added bonus, she can usually round up some sah-weet concert tickets for the family, but I try not to take advantage of that unless Faith Hill and Tim McGraw are involved. I’m sure you can understand why I get a little eager under any Faith and Tim circumstances.
Sister actually has a cool shindig coming up this next week (it’s Gospel Music Association week in Nashville), and if all goes as planned, I’ll be there for a little LIVE-BLOGGIN’. Hopefully I’ll have some cool pictures and stories for y’all.
And also: hopefully I won’t make a fool of myself and embarrass my sister.
Not to mention her entire organization.
But other than that: NO PRESSURE!
Happy Sunday, y’all.

Oh My Word. Does Sister know Tim and Faith???
They are like my pretend BFF’s. And if I could just get the chance to meet them I know they would just love me.
;)
You are precious…you and your sweet family!
Praying that this coming week is stupendously, hot dog diggety, wonderful!
Love,
holly
It’s good to know I’m not the only one staying up Way. Too. Late. these days. I don’t think my brain remembers how to shift into writing mode until after 10pm anymore.
I, too, am a night owl blogging fiend. I have had to limit myself to only two or three posts a week, as I can get far too carried away with it. And commenting on other people’s blogs is done in snatches here and there throughout the day when I find myself with a few minutes of free time.
Unfortunately, staying up late to blog usually means I’m tired the next day. Which explains my penchant for Frappucinos. And chocolate.
Ooh, I stay up WAY TOO LATE – glad I’m not alone!
I’m one of those bloggers who is just getting started. (I’ll have my 500th post tomorrow, just over nine months after I started. aHEM.)
Anyway, I am still gaining readership at a slow but steady rate. Sometimes I get like 50 readers in one day! :) And now I CAN — and do — respond to all my comments. (I rarely get any non-comment-related e-mail.) But if I get to the point where I CAN’T respond to all my comments, etc., that will make me sad. It will also be a blessing, as I love that people are seeing what I’m reading — and my PHOTOS.
As I’m rambling all the way to nowhere, I’ll stop. But thanks for that answer. That helps me for the day if I start getting more than 10s of readers every single day. :)
I sat up straighter in my chair when I read “Tim McGraw and Faith Hill”. I loooooove him. :o)I’m sickeningly jealous of your sister right now. lol
I’m so jealous right now! What I wouldn’t give to be at the GMA Dove awards. I actually thought about volunteering once, but I changed my mind.
If you get to go and blog, I hope you have a great time!
I TOTALLY respect your educational choices for Howard, but I completely agree with Amy – there need to be more homeschool moms who drink Cokes from Sonic and feed their kids Cheetos once in a while. Or PB&J on Storebought bread. *gasp!*
Those are some fantastic questions. Makes me all the more aware that I would make a lousy reporter. You also provided some lovely answers to the good questions. I feel like I just watched a Barbara Walter’s special. You know I think it’s good you’ve been so open and forthcoming about your fried chicken and Diet Coke addictions – otherwise you know you’d just be sittin’ awkwardly on the hotseat about those and we’d never have gotten to hear about Sister, Faith and Tim. Hey, does sister forbid you to use her name on the blog or do you use Sister for effect? Your name’s so pretty, I always wonder about hers.
I’m so very jealous of you (and your sister) right now! My dream was always to do what she is doing, and I did for a little bit, but then I met this guy who swept me off my feet and I found myself moving back to Indiana to get married. And there is a shocking lack of music industry activity in Indiana. Can you believe that??
Anyway, have TONS of fun at GMA week! Keep us posted on all the fun stuff you get to do!
Holly Smith stole my thought. I was going to type about how precious I think you are. I love your writing style and how you put so much fun into your blog.
Just trying to make sure that you don’t feel any guilt about not homeschooling… We plan to home school and I allow my daughter to eat cheeseburgers from Sonic and McDonald’s and I LOVE fountain cokes. Now I don’t drink Coke anymore because I had to eliminate caffeine but I once enjoyed them greatly. So there will be a home school mom who has some of your habits. :-) Although I think there are others too. Moderation. It’s a good thing.
We homeschool on occasion (hee hee) No, seriously my kids can read. We were just going to have two kids, but now we have three. Are thinking about, considering, twitching at the idea of having a fourth. Who am I, the woman in the shoe?
Happy Sunday Boomama – I love, love reading your blog! And love laughing with you and learning from you. Thanks for all that you do and share :)
Liza
Your parents must be so equally proud. Your sister gets paid to book famous people, and you get paid to write as a “famous” blogger! :)
So glad you are comfortable with family size and educational choices since it seems internets are endlessly bossy with one another about life choices! LOL -I am older than your “target” audience and get such a kick out of the amount of advice given quite freely to writers of blogs. No criticism from me to givers or takers of advice – if I’d listened to my mama – ewwww I’d be married to that greasy haired kid who wanted to be a country singer evangelist (no he never made it big y’all). So not all advice is the same value. Figured you were heading to Nashville for the music shindigs – esp. now that your real BFF’s are famous bloggers and international travelers and all. Looking forward to the exciting live blogs of next week – and loved this Sunday spot – you do make me smile and sometimes cry a bit – you done good Miz BooMaMa
If you are at the Dove awards on Wed and see my girl Mandisa, give her some love for me. :)
I promise I’m not a stalker…well, maybe a little bit.
but if I see you at GMA this week…I would be so thrilled to meet you.
you’re like famous, ya know?
my husband is here this week and i tagged along.
hope you have a fun time!
BooMama, I have posted answers to the questions that you and Big Mama posed pertaining to the She Speaks Conference workshop: http://2nd-cup-of-coffee.blogspot.com/2008/04/answer-questions-for-big-mama-and.html
I have a toolbox in my office to cover the “whathaveyou” portion of my job.
I’m not even kidding. :)
Well, thank you for answering my question. I’m bummed, of course. But I’ll continue representing the Sonic-coke-drinking homeschooling minority with pride.
I’ve heard so much of this ‘sonic coke’ stuff. LOL I’ll have to try it. My weakness would be smoothies…….either Nature’s Table or Planet Smoothie.
I’d love to see Taylor Swift and Brad Paisley in concert! Oh can you imagine! LOL
