So I made a whole bunch of videos at the Third Day concert extravaganza last Thursday night, and a few minutes ago I sat down to figure out which ones I wanted to post for your viewing (and listening) enjoyment. I couldn’t wait to provide you with a veritable feast for the eyes and ears. I was awash with giddy anticipation.
But then I listened to the first video. And the second. And the third. And so on and so forth, etc.
It didn’t take long for a decided trend to emerge: there was definitely a bit of a sound problem with my camera. Maybe I was too close to a speaker, or maybe the rock stars use more bass than what I’m accustomed to capturing on my none-too-fayncee digital recording device. Regardless, the end result is some pretty decent video quality and some deeply sub-standard audio quality.
In fact, on every single video I shot of Third Day, Mac Powell sounds like Darth Vader with a spectacularly bad head cold. Which is not at all what he sounded like live and in person (what exactly did he sound like live and in person, you wonder? Well, in a word: BUTTER).
So that to say: I will not be posting video from the concert.
But oh, it was a delight. My friend E. and I had the best time. There are lots of shows left on their tour, and you should totally go (you can check out the cities here).
And speaking of music.
(HELLO, SEGUE’, HOW ARE YOU?)
I have three (THREE!) music giveaways coming up in the next week or so. The first one will go up later today or tomorrow; the next one will be Thursday; and the final one will be next Monday. I can’t wait to share All The Music with the internets.
Finally.
I don’t mean to tease, but I have it on good authority that there’s going to be another one of these up for grabs in a couple of weeks.
OH YES MA’AM.
It’s like Christmas in September.
Happy Monday, everybody.

The concert sounds outrageously wonderful, but isn’t it illegal to post concert videos?
I’m just asking…
First – may I wish you a Happy Fall/Autumn Day – apparently around 10 this morning it is officially fall – woohoo – love this season. Glad you are teasing about loverly giveaways to come.
Don’t feel bad. I think that they do something through microphones to make all recordings of any kind (except the official ones, of course) sound horrendous. You know, to keep you from Pirating “Third Day: Live” videos in China or something.
So glad you had a good time! Maybe the Lord protected you in not allowing your videos to be published???
Blessings on your day today…
Sigh… I SO adore my Orek. Especially since Hunter can use it… and he does love “his” Orek! It is so light and powerful!!!!!
Happy Monday, Boomama! And, thanks for all of the laughs over this weekend as I read through the archives, and then shared the one from February with my sister (you know, the haircolor temptation one). There were laughs all over the southeast yesterday afternoon, and it’s all your fault!
Speaking of butter… have you seen The Women? There’s a scene with butter being dipped into cocoa for the eating pleasure. I almost peed in my pants, errr… I mean “Pirates of the Penzance”
Well, I am just beside myself with excitement over your giveaways. I love music, but I just think I would LOVE an Oreck vaccuum cleaner. I totally think my lack of an Oreck is why I despise cleaning my house. I mean you can’t be expected to clean with sub-par equipment!
Take this from someone who works for an organization that has had Third Day at several of their events…Mac Powell’s voice is difficult to record during a live event. His voice is definitely “butter” and can calm my nerves inside of 2 1/2 minutes, but our audio folks say there’s something about the lower register of his voice that makes him sound like D.V. on audio.
I’ve seen Third Day in concert too many times to count and I agree…Mac does sound like butter…only slightly better. I tell people all the time that Mac Powell could sing about dog food and I’d buy it. Fun story- when my daughter was 2yrs old, we saw Third Day for the first time and she got to sit on the stage with them because she knew every word to “Black Bird.” Back in those days, they were hardly known. There were around 300 at the concert. The last time we saw them there were 15,000! WOW!
I’ve missed you Boo! I have been out of commission in Indiana due to the Ike monster! Our town was hit by crazy winds and we’ve been without electricity for a week.
I feel like the world has passed me by in this one week. Crazy, huh?
I am hanging on for some good music contests….and an oreck? Wow! Hook me up!
Bring on the giveaways! We can all use the excitement of a giveaway on a Monday morning!
Take care,
Julie
I’m GIDDY with anticipation!
love music.
and LOVE an Oreck vaccuum cleaner.
w o w.
and did you know they lay completely flat to get under chairs and such easily?
l o v e t h e m.
It took me moment to catch on to the humor in the line “read by tens of people every day”. I love it.
I’m having my first ever give away on my blog for custom cards. . .they pretty cute {at least I think so} and it’s a $60 give away so come check them out!

The concert venue is getting farther and father away, not closer and closer.
Bummah.
And the uber-cool vacuum? I need it RIGHT!NOW! I just shattered glass and I’m so despondent (it was my favorite/only glass pot) I’m blogging in denial.
I’m not proud.
Okay, so I truly am sorry not to be able to hear any delectable sound bites from the concert but . . . . win an Oreck vacuum?? HELLO! I am almost drooling in anticipation.
7 years ago I would not have been gaga over a vacuum, I tell you . . .
Well, Miss Boo, Third Day sounds divine. I would love to see them in concert someday. But, really, as a busy household manager, the Oreck sounds even more Heaven-sent. I’ll be watching . . . and waiting . . . and hoping . . . and praying!
I need to say an AMEN to the Mac Powell’s voice is like BUTTER comment!:) I so agree! I love reading your blog and laugh hysterically but I’m so out of touch and some of these “Internet-isms” I frankly have no idea what you are talking about. I don’t know a blog from a twitter! I might have to do some research as to not be so backward!:) Have a great week!
Only 70-something hours left until The Office.
That has nothing to do with this post but everything to do with life.
Love it!!!
I’m going to this concert on Thursday! For free! But it starts at 6 and we will have to be late…what will I miss?? Who starts the show? We’re looking forward to all of the great (did I mention free?) music!!
oooh, I love giveaways! I hope I’m the lucky one! Music is great, but I would love to win the Oreck vaccuum cleaner! I have always wanted one..but could never afford one of my own! Mr.. (er…Mrs…) Random Generator…please pick MEEEEE!
I want music! ;)
