Before I Forget

I’m about to go to bed, but I wanted to thank y’all a million times for all your sweet birthday wishes. I loved every single one of your comments and emails. It was a great birthday – complete with homemade strawberry cake, OH PRAISE YOU, JESUS – and I have had a wonderful weekend with my little family.

And yes, I loved the hijacked birthday post that my husband wrote. It caught me completely by surprise; it was pretty much the sweetest present ever. We do not have a perfect marriage by any stretch of the imagination, and Lord have mercy we have fought tooth and nail to hold it together during some particularly difficult seasons. But seeing how God has changed us and our marriage has been one of the sweetest joys of my life. Even though it was grueling at times, I wouldn’t change a thing.

You know how some people come into marriage with baggage? Well, we had TRUNKS. It took us awhile to unpack all that junk.

Good times.

Next.

Thanks also for your TREMENDOUS response to Travis’ Christmas CD giveaway. I’ll close the comments tomorrow around lunchtime and announce the winners sometime Tuesday. Y’all are gonna love the CD so much.

Almost as much as I love the fact that I WAS SO RIGHT and TRAVIS WAS SO WRONG about the number of comments the giveaway would generate, not that I’m gloating or anything.

Finally.

A post for an Oreck vacuum giveaway will go up sometime Monday afternoon. I’m giddy with anticipation. Now I do not personally own an Oreck, mind you, nor do I receive any sort of compensation for doing this giveaway, but for some reason it makes me SO DADGUMMED EXCITED to think about somebody winning a brand-spanking-new vacuum cleaner.

Sweet mercy I’m old.

See y’all tomorrow!

I’m with you on the excitement. When you combine allergies with a crappy old vacuum cleaner, you know how much happiness an Oreck could bring!

  2. not old…seasoned *grin* Glad you a nice birthday. Glad you get to give away vacuums and cds of great Christmas music. Glad you have a thoughtful husband. And strawberry cake? Could I get more glad for you? I don’t think so.

    Blessings, friend

  3. I think Boo Daddy needs his own blog. He’s perty dadgum funny.

  4. Early morning hello Boo Mama,
Wondering if you all would have a look over here and see what YOU can DO.
    blessings,
    tammy

  5. First of all, Happy Belated Birthday to you!

Next, your husband is a sweetheart! :)

Finally, I loved your comment, “You know how some people come into marriage with baggage? Well, we had TRUNKS. It took us awhile to unpack all that junk.”

It took me 5 years to get my husband to the alter due to all the junk in the trunk and we’re still unpacking 5 years later, but its worth it!

    Thanks for sharing!

  6. I left my Google Reader and came here to say “you ain’t just whistling Dixie, Boo Mama.” I think a good marriage is made of two people who just won’t give up. Somebody should tell new couples you will fall out of love at some point. Don’t panic, because you will fall right back in, too, and it will get sweeter as you go.

  7. And I will just sit right here and refresh the page until I see the Oreck post – I have an Oreck, and I adore it. I want one for my mom.

  8. lol, no kidding on the “hundred” of comments for the CD…what? over 1000? See Fry Daddy, people love you! Hope I’m a winner! =)

  9. You’re not old. Because I’m just about your age. We’ve just acquired the wisdom to see that new vacuum cleaners are VERY excited.

I’m going to keep saying that to myself.

  10. Gee, if that many people posted for a little CD, how many will you get for the vacuum? We’re a pathetic lot, aren’t we??

    Loved your honesty this morning.

  11. See, I’m so excited I can’t spell. The vacuum cleaners are most likely not excited, their exciting.

  12. Oh, for pity’s sake. They’re, not their.

  13. Happy Belated Birthday, BooMama! I loved BooDaddy’s birthday present for you! Isn’t that the best? *smile* He sounds like a “keeper”!

Can’t wait for the Oreck giveaway. . . my 19 year old Rainbow vacuum just died. . .

  14. OOOOOOhhhhh, I’m so very excited!! :)

  15. Loved the list, it was sweet and funny and I bet you are gonna cook him #19 real soon

  16. You know why I love your blog? Because you are the EPITOME of a southern woman.

Please run for Vice President of the US of A. I will vote for you.

  17. Oh glory, another giveaway! I had a fantabulous Oreck that served us well for a decade, until the fateful day when my DH sucked up a Build-a-Bear dress. It was ripped to shreds, burned out the motor fire and killed the machine, but even worse it caused major tears for the heartbroken 5-year-old girl. She hated the vacuum, not her dad, and we couldn’t buy another Oreck right away. I’ve been using a sad little stick-vac for quite a while now and I’d really, really love a chance for a new Oreck!

  18. A new vacuum cleaner! I’m a little misty eyed by just reading this and whatever chance I may have at it. I’ll be back for that contest!!

    Take care,
    Amy

  19. Ooooo oooooooo I can’t wait for that contest!!

My old Kenmore upright could use retirement!

    Yeehaw!

  20. I’m late with my birthday wishes, but I just wanted to say happy birthday, and thanks for blogging, because I read you all the time. I love reading what you write, and I’m so glad you do what you do.

And I hope someday I find a boy who loves me as much as your husband clearly loves you. :>

  21. Happy Late birthday to you! May the Lord bless you and keep you, and make His face to shine down upon you… and give you and your family His peace this next year of your life. :-)

  22. Happy belated Birthday, Boo Mama!

    Sorry I missed it….
