Another Oreck, Anyone?

This is one of those giveaways where I feel like anything I might want to say is completely inconsequential. Because really, anyone who’s reading this post just wants me to SHUT IT, ALREADY and stop talking about the fact that even though I don’t personally own an Oreck, I do have a mother and a sister who are very! enthusiastic! about the entire Oreck product family, not to mention that they would both tell you in a heartbeat that their Oreck vacuums are convenient, powerful, and light-as-a-feather.

But y’all don’t really want to hear that. Y’all just want me to cut to the chase and tell you about the free stuff.

Specifically, you want me to tell you about how you can win a free Oreck vacuum that retails for $599.95.

So.

Here goes.

First. Look! It’s adorable!

Oreck

SASSY!

Second. If you’d like to win this very special vacuum that’s raising awareness for a very special cause (Clean for the Cure), here’s what you have to do:

1. Click here to visit Oreck’s site and look at all the fancy features on the Special Edition XL Gold. This is going to have to be done on the honor system, because it’s going to be next-to-impossible for me to check every single one of my outgoing clicks. However, I do know that the clicks out to this link should (roughly) match the number of comments on this post. So please do me a favor and click on the link and look around once you’re there so that I don’t have to put anyone in time out, oh thank you.

2. Come back here.

3. Leave a comment on this post (only one comment per email address, please) and briefly tell me why you’d LURVE to win an Oreck.

One catch: you have to be a resident of the continental United States in order to win (I know, Canada. I KNOW. I feel your pain. Because guess what? I can’t win, either).

This giveaway will be open until Monday, October 13th, and I’ll announce the winner on Tuesday, October 14th. If you win, I will contact you at the email address associated with your comment, so please be sure to type your email address correctly. You’ll have 24 hours to respond, and if I don’t hear from you within that time period, I’ll draw for another winner.

Have fun, y’all!

  1. I would love to win this vacuum because of the light weight feature (arthritis) and the hypo-allergenic feature (allergies). It is nice to see companies donate to charities and this one is close to my heart. My mom died of breat cancer when I was 14 years old. Thanks to the Oreck Company. Hopefully, one day, there will be a cure for this dreaded disease.

  2. I’d love to have a vacuum because the one I have weighs a TON.

  3. Five kids. Big messes. Teeeny little vac bag. This is one fo those times when bigger is definitely better.

  4. I would LOVE the Oreck because the vacuum I have does not do its job. It leaves nastiness all over the place, and when I turn it off it basically spits out half the stuff it took in (as if it is laughing in my face for trying to accomplish having clean floors or something). Plus, I am a newlywed supporting my husband so he can finish his Masters/PhD, needless to say a new vacuum really isn’t in the budget.

MORE IMPORTANTLY, I would love to help support such a great cause, raising money for breast cancer. I lost my Grandmommy to her second battle with breast cancer a few years ago and I try the best I can to support anything “pink” in her honor! I know she would be proud to see her Granddaughter cleaning the house with a pink vacuum, just one more pink item to help “Fight the Cause.”

  5. I want this vaccuum because I have two kiddos under 3 and currently do not own a vacuum (you read that right). :)

  6. I would LURVE to win this vacuum b/c the one I have right now falls over everytime I use it, and it is horrible. Also I have two small children that drop dirt everywhere they go. :) Plus it’s PINK!!

  7. so far, 203 other people want to win just as badly. and it’s only day one. not good odds.

would it help if i told you that i think david oreck resembles my dad? no? didn’t think so.

how about “my husband would like me to win an oreck?”

  8. Wow! What a wonderful opportunity to get excited about cleaning! I would “lurve” to win this Oreck so I don’t have to go over my floors a million times with my regular vacuum. I hate cleaning all day.
From inside the little blue bungalow,
    Katie Jean

  9. Oh, please pick me!!! I love that the Oreck self-adjusts itself to clean any floors or carpets. My poor vacuum is so pitiful I don’t even drag it out. I just sweep at the carpet or use my little tiny floor sweeper. Oh, I need this!

  10. Sally T. says:

With a hairy dog and a hairy cat, & 2 more cat fosters soon coming into our home from the shelter, we NEED a great vacuum cleaner. Our old, lovable Hoover just isn’t doing the job anymore. And we love our 2 Oreck air cleaners already, so we know they have great products. Count me in, please!

  11. Oooo! A PINK vacuum cleaner? And an Oreck at that? Count me in!! When the website said “Dust less often” that sealed the deal. Not that I dust all that often anyway, but who’s checking? I would LOVE to win this puppy, er, vacuum!

  12. missy (from PA) says:

hey boo mama, i do not own an oreck, but i did once have a kirby. did not like my kirby. i wonder why the funny bag like pack thing shown in the pictures of the oreck. i did tho, against all my judgement, put a vacuum on my christmas list. i have picked out the new bissel healthy home. but yah, an oreck would do! happy monday!

  13. I would “lurve” to win an Oreck because I’m tired of having to buy a new cheapy vacuum every 6 months plus one day (that one day would be the day after the warranty goes out, of course) and I’m ready to play like the big boys; assuming the big boys vacuumed, and usually they don’t but that’s another comment for another day now isn’t it?

  14. I love that it goes from carpet to hard surfaces adjusting automatically- we have lots of tile in different places- and I love that it weighs so little- training my 9 year old little man to vacuum would be so much easier if he could manuver a lighter vacuum!

  15. Oh, I’d love this. My son has severe dust allergies and though we’ve removed most of the carpet in the house, the living room is still wall-to-wall. A great, hypo-allergenic, dust-reducing vacuum has NOT been in the budget, and my only hope is to win one! Thanks.

  16. Mom one. Sister has one. I feel so left out. I’m in.

  17. I would love to have a vacuum that would actually pick stuff up! We desperately need a new vacuum and I just haven’t wanted to spend the money on it because if I do I want it to be a good one!
I love that the Oreck hypo-allergenic filtration as my husband has VERY bad allergies…and it’s cute!!

  18. What I love about the Oreck…

its ergonomically-shaped handle (proof that I visited the website)

    and

    it’s pink!

  19. I would love to win this because, first of all, it’s pink!! Secondly, because my vacuum cleaner broke about 6 months ago and my husband refuses to fix it. He says it works just fine….even though it doesn’t really suck so much as push the crumbs and dog hair around the house.

    And, it’s pink!!!

  20. I still have that “just got married” vacuum cleaner and could really use a good one around the house. This is an wonderful giveaway! Thanks for sending this opportunity our way!!

  21. Oh, how wonderful to win a 5 pound vacuum!

  22. well isn’t that cute. my dog chewed my old vacuum’s cord and now it gives me a little shock when i use it. that’s why i need one.

  23. Hopefulmom says:

I would love to win this Oreck for my mama. She had one before that she plumb wore out! Thanks for hosting the giveaway!

  24. I NEED this vacuum b/c every vacuum I have ever owned seems to break within a one year period. I want one that will last a lifetime. And I can’t afford to buy it on my own!

  25. oh…i’d love to win.

this allergy ridden house needs its hypoallergenic features.

and this momma needs the little handheld side kick for the stairs!

    plus, its pink! nuff said.

  26. Why would I love to win an oreck? hypo-allergenic.. enough said.

    :)

  27. I was going to get a Dyson a couple of years ago, however my husband, after talking to a (male) neighbor suggested another (less expensive) vacuum. After doing much online research I purchased the other vacuum and all was good.

Recently, however, my husband has taken over the vacuuming duties and is less than impressed with the vacuum he encouraged me to purchase. Every time he vacuums recently he asks me when we we can get an Oreck. Apparently he has done some online research of his own and his heart is set on an Oreck.

If you choose me I will send you a picture of my manly man using his beloved pink Oreck.

  28. Well who wouldn’t want one?!? I mean it has an ergonomically designed handle, is furniture friendly and will extend the life of my carpet. Do you think there’s any chance it could revive my carpet?

  29. I would LOVE to win this vacuum! My current vacuum cleaner is one that was given to me by my mother-in-law. It was VERY used when I received it, but she knew we needed one. The last time I used it, it smelled like a belt was burning! So, I need this, want this, gotta have this!

  30. light, hypo-allergenic, hand held for staris. Oh, be still my beating heart!

  31. Well, first of all I love that it is pink! If I have to vacuum, then at least I’ll look “pretty in pink”. I also like that it can go from carpet to flooring. Great give-away, and great cause.

  32. I haven’t read all the comments after reading all the cool features of this vacuum . . . and the fact that it is so darn cute has me almost speechless anyway, but I so need, need, need this vacuum and haven’t ever won anything big online. The fact that I am fairly bubbling over getting a vacuum shows how much I really, really, really need it.

I have gone through four, yes, FOUR cheap-o vacuums this year! I am so tired of having to wonder if the machine is going to pick anything up when I plug it in that I am tempted to just sit down and clean up the floors on my hands and knees. This vacuum would ease my load greatly. Orecks are known for being lightweight, and that is exactly what I need with having fibromyalgia.

Thanks for hosting this Sophie! I sure appreciate you!!

  33. I would love to win this so we could really get our carpets clean for our new baby and 2 yr old to avoid the allergy junk..plus our old vacuum is just that..old..so please please please pick me!!

  34. This would be the perfect way to train for the vacuum Olympics. All tryouts can be held at my house multiple times a week, please feel free to come over if interested. Preferably 4 times a week due to children, pets and spouse….

  35. I love Oreck! Always see the commercials and wanted to try one…like the color too! So cute!

  36. I just love it cause its pink!!!

  37. Leighann says:

I loooove the pink and because my house needs it so bad ;)

  38. I would just LURVE to win this! Sounds like the perfect vacuum.

    Love the pink too! =)

  39. I NEED to win this little jewel. The carpet in my house is… too old to tell without mortally embarassing myself.

Everyone else should just excuse themselves from this contest and let me win.

    Seriously.

    :-)

  40. Wow! A 9 lb vacuum that cleans under furniture without an attachment? And self-adjusts from carpet to bare floor? Oh, I hope I win!

  41. I would love to win this beeeUtiful Oreck because my current vacuum cleaner stinks… literally. It has a nasty smell whenver I turn it on. It also sprays dust all around my house which is not very effective when trying to clean up after my two adorable pugs. My husband would also appreciate this Oreck because he wouldn’t have to hear me yell at my current vacuum every time I try to clean. We would buy a new one, but we have only been married a year and we are broke 20 somethings. There is my short synopsis of one part of my life that is in desperate need of a makeover.

  42. Laurie Dyche says:

I would love to have an Oreck — hauling my heavy old vacuum up & down the stairs is such a pain, I dream of having a lighter one instead!

    Thank you–Laurie Kathleen

  43. Pick me!! Pick me!!

My house is a pigpen, maybe my wife would get off her duff and vacuum if I won this for her.

Maybe. I might even do it myself. (don’t hold your breath on that one)

  44. Well, I’d like to have the Oreck because, you know, the pink is too adorable. Also, we had one many years ago and lost it in a move. It was a tragic day.

  45. I would love to win this vacuum. It would be great to have a Pretty in Pink vacuum to make me feel girly in my house full o’ boys!

  46. I NEED to win this because I have coveted one for a long time and there is NO WAY my husband would let me spend $500 on it!

  47. shellee powell says:

a pink vacuum cleaner? does one need another reason?

  48. Jen Tepe says:

Why do I need the vacuum….well, I don’t myself but I have a very good hearted and kind mother in law who won’t let us buy one for her (too much $…we did and she returned it and gave the $ back to us) and rather uses hers that is held together by duct and electrical tape. If I win, it’s an early Merry Christmas to her. I pinkie swear on it. I have a central beam that I love.

  49. I would LURVE to win the new ORECK because I just had a bouncing baby boy and I hear that they are MESSY!

  50. Wow, a pink Oreck – to top all things – pink bliss! Don’t we all need something so nice and pink to provide cheer while we chore?

  51. We need a new vacuum because ours has a serious lack of suction. And when it comes to a vacuum, suction should be the top priority :) I love how this one is lightweight!

  52. My mother and I both own Oreck vacuum cleaners and love them with a passion that is a little extreme to those who don’t know and love the fabulousness that is the Oreck vacuum cleaner. However, my mother is in need of an upgrade and I would love to win one for her. Plus, it is pink, how much fun is that?

  53. This beauty would be greast in my home because heloo…it’s PINK! (okay, with some black)

Also, it is my slavelet’s (er, children’s) job to vacuum our home and the lightweight oreck xl would be muuuuch easier to lug up and down the stairs here.

    Pick me! pick me!

  54. I’d LURVE one because I’ve heard fabulous things about them and this one is actually cute. Not that cute is a feature I necessarily need in a vacuum cleaner but it doesn’t hurt…

  55. I don’t win these things.
But Heck all I’ve got to loose is this comment!
I’m likeing the “soft top-and-sides make it easy to clean around and under furniture without scratching it”. Because with 2 dogs & 2 boys THAT is what I’m worried about “scratching” the furniture!

  56. Both my Mom and sister also have an Oreck and they are so wonderful. I also gave one to the new library in our town so I would love to win the cute pink one!

  57. Jennifer C says:

This would make my day to win such a great vacuum. I have three kids and could greatly use it. Crossing my fingers that I win.

  58. I would love to have this because I have 3 dogs of my own and when my kids come over. I also have two new little grandbabies that will need to be crawling on that carpet and I can think of nothing I need more than that awesome Oreck vacumn cleaner.

  59. I would love-oh-love with queso and fried chicken to win this vacuum. Why? Because I have borrowed a friend’s Oreck and it was everything I’ve ever wanted in a vacuum–light and powerful.

  60. Stephanie says:

I used my vacuum last night and there is a funky odor coming from it. I am afraid it is about to go on the fritz. A new Oreck would be mighty sweet indeed!

  61. Brenda Branch says:

I just want it because it would be from you… I also have a little dog that sheds on everything, everywhere. Plus all those other features they tell you on the site.
    Pick me Pick me.
    Thanks
    Brenda

  62. I should really win this because I have had a HEAVY vacuum for years and the Oreck is so LIGHT! My husband thinks my vacuum is fine, but you don’t see him hauling it up the stairs!

  63. Oh Boo!

This is my dream…and I’m not kidding…I’ve been through 4 vacumn cleaners in 2 years….I NEED this!!!

Plus, it’s just so darn cute. :)

  64. If my vacuum were a person, I would have fired it long ago. And if I were a rich person, I would have replaced it long ago. I would love to upgrade to a fancy pink vacuum! And I thought I would be 80 before I would describe a vacuum as fancy!

  65. I LOVE the hypoallergenic filters on this thing!!! With a daughter, two dogs, two cats, and a husband it would get a LOT of use!

  66. I would LURVE to win the Oreck vacuum because if I owned a vacuum that pretty I would have no excuse not to use it!

  67. because my house is filthy.

  68. Love the pinkness – the hypoallergenically suction strength of the Oreck and would be thrilled to gift such a vacuum to a local shelter so they could raffle it off and raise a big wad of money(cause I already own an Oreck and they are FAB)

  69. So my vacuum cleaner isn’t working as of last week. And I’m way tired of looking at dirty carpet. And I wish I had something oh so clever to say about why I need a new vacuum but I don’t (other than mine is busted up).
But I like your blog. And your name (thinkin’ about nicknaming my self BoMama but it doesn’t have the same ring). I’m southern to the core- AL girl exported to MS.
Does flattery help? If so, I’ll be glad to re-post more :)

  70. I would love to win an Oreck because with a husband, toddler, and a very furry dog, I can all the help I can get. My vacuum desperately needs to be dumped. Also, we could definitely use the help with our allergies!!

  71. I have a shedding dog, and am constantly vacuuming, so would love a powerful sucker that is light as a feather!!! :)

  72. Um…can we saw AWESOME?

I’d love to win because I am currently terrified of the vacuum I own. ; )

  73. I would LURVE to have an Oreck because my poor mother has had the same heavy, bulky, pain-in-the-derriere for over 20 years, but can’t bring herself to pay the money for a nice, new, spiffy (pink!) Oreck…possibly because she was putting someone (me) through college. Poor woman deserves it!

  74. Oh, BooMama! I would love this Oreck to pick up all the dog hairs that litter my home from my sweet pug!!!

  75. mainly because my $10 vacuum just flat don’t work! I’d like to own this please!

  76. I would love to have this vacuum! Less dusting sounds good to me & my current vac took a dive this weekend! It was meant to be:)
    Kristi
    guntergirl71@hotmail.com

  77. This looks fabulous! I would love to win this.

  78. My vac is so old, I just bought a cheapo one. But I really need a good vac!!

  79. I am loving the pink! It matches my lipstick and nail polish.

  80. I would lurve this Oreck…it’s pink – it’s sassy and so am I! Okay….maybe not pink but you get the idea! :O)

  81. Please pick me… I have a vacuum that stinks every time I turn it on so therefore I am boycotting vacuuming my house until my dear sweet husband buys me a new vacuum.

  82. I have a very cheap vac that doesn’t do a very good job – I’d LOVE one of these!

  83. Three lovely words I found on their website: dust less often. Vacuuming, I don’t mind….dusting, not my thing!

  84. I would love to win an Oreck because, well, frankly, I’ve only owned cheap vacuums and need a good one. I love that is goes from carpet to bare floor…I have both.

  85. Oh, how I would love one of these. I would be a vacuuming diva with one so light and my stairs would get some more vacuum love. The fact that it is pink is icing on the cake!

Maybe, since it’s so lightweight the kids would take over the job. Hmmm.

  86. Fabulous and free! ‘Nuff said!

  87. I bought a new vacuum in December, and it’s worth just about the little amount of money that I paid for it. I would love to have a really nice vacuum cleaner, but I have always been too cheap to buy one. Also, a friend of ours was diagnosed with breast cancer in February. She just finished her last days of radiation and chemo. So, I love that they are donating money to breast cancer research. Thanks for the chance.

    Amy K.

  88. Because I never win anything! :) H

  89. I want one because I could give my seven year old a new chore….it is light and convenient…oh, I would want one just to suck up all the dirt.

  90. I’d LURVE to win because my current vacuum has a short in the switch making it a pain to try and use the attachments. Not to mention the fact that I’m afraid I’m going to get electrocuted one of these times.

  91. Because I’d like one. :)

  92. I’d love to win!!!! Pick me!

  93. I’d love Love LOVE to win…my current vacuum is on it’s last legs….and I have 7 kids so a vacuum is a must have :)

    -Laura

  94. Well, don’t ya know, I think the vacuum I have now may not be livin’ up to it’s fullest potential.

    I’d love to win one!

  95. I love that it’s pink AND I could so use a vacuum that would actually reside downstairs among the kids and the playroom and the cat little box. It’s so hard to drag vacuum cleaners up and down the stairs.

    You are so fun.

  96. I have a US shipping address, so does that count?? Hope so! :) I would looove an Oreck because, well, three kids, possibly more on the way, homeschooling, work part-time, pastor’s wife…I need my vacuuming to be as thorough as possible ’cause sometimes it’s a looong time in between, lol! ;)

  97. I would love an Oreck so I could actually pick up the crumbs of unknown orgin that my 2 and 5 yr old seem to deposit daily. My current vacuum is terrible and it forces me to cringe when I walk across the floor barefoot since “stuff” sticks to my feet

  98. I have an Oreck iron that I love love love so I know that their vacuum cleaner would be just as fabulous! Crossing my fingers and hoping I win! :)

  99. 5 kids (almost 6), 2 dogs (1 50lbs and 1 100 lbs.), 2 cats and 1 husband. I need a vacuum that is light so I can vacuum and hold the baby on my hip. I need a vacuum that can pick up animal hair. And I need a vacuum that is cute – for me, of course. This one covers all those areas.

Let’s pray the vacuum gods shine upon me this time.

  100. Ivy Barnes says:

    It just looks awesome!
