Linky Interwebby Awesomeness 11.17.08

– Ever tried to go seven days without spending any money at all? Well, one writer did just that – and lived to tell the (very amusing) tale.

– I tend to see the fuel light in my car as a gentle reminder that I might maybe want to think about putting gas in my car if at some point it’s convenient, which is why at least once a month my husband will crank my car, see the glowing fuel light, and say, “How long has this been on?” And I’ll say, “Oh, a couple of days.” And he will sigh in frustration.

So earlier today, when I ran across this site, I couldn’t help but giggle. I’VE FOUND ME A RESOURCE, PEOPLE!

You can even browse by make and model here. (source)

– Finally, Melanie has written a beautiful post about childhood over at All Access. You may need to take some tissue with you when you go.

  1. Oh, the gas light thing….my husband says that I must think it is pretty, so I wait until it comes on to get gas just so I can admire it’s beauty

  2. Thanks for the website on how far you really can go on Empty! Many a time I have driven with tightly crossed fingers.

  3. i just wanted to say i love the new daily format of the linky interwebby awesomeness!

  4. I second the opinion that having the Linky Interwebby Awesomeness in the regular feed is wonderful! :)

  5. Boo,

I so appreciate these awesome links!

    Enjoyed…

So much that I just had to go and post a story on the tank on empty article about my Mountaineer. Oh, it gets better…then, THEN, I replied to my own story where I added my name! :)

I sure have some tanks on empty stories…I’ve been posting a bit about driving (although not on running out of gas….thinking of going there? hmmm?) in a little series called Where’d You Get YOUR Driving Skills From?

    Fun times…and scary!

  6. My car not only has no low fuel light, the gas gauge starts lying BIG TIME when the tank gets low! (Like it says I have 3/4 of a tank when I actually have 10 more miles left.)

I have to keep track of how many miles I’ve gone so I don’t run out of gas. And sometimes, the car gets totally unexpected drastically lower gas mileage, which has resulted in the wonderful experience of running out of gas!
