We got home a little while ago from Georgia, where we had, as our friend Todd’s daddy would say, a FAN-TAS-TIC time. We drove over for Travis Cottrell‘s live CD recording / DVD taping at First Baptist Church Woodstock, and it was about seventy four kinds of wonderful.
And by the way: FBC Woodstock? IS GIGANTOR.

I mean, I’ll bet you could get 300 people in there on Sunday mornings. Maybe even 350 if you squeezed in really tight.
Anyway, I am worn out from all the laughing and not sleeping that I did, and the sad part of that is that there were a bunch of people that I wanted to sit down with and, you know, HAVE A CONVERSATION, but our later-than-we-planned arrival combined with some bloggy bidness combined with trying to find people in a room of thousands wasn’t really conducive to that. I actually woke up this morning thinking about people I wanted to see but didn’t, but maybe I’ll do better next time. I hope so.
So now we’re home and I’m trying to catch up on a few things and then I will hopefully be able to put some words to all the stuff I’m thinking and feeling.
Until then, I can tell you that if you read Melanie’s blog today and wondered if the eggs she ordered were really that bad, I can tell you without hesitation that YES, THEY WERE HIDEOUS. Ohmyword. They have now replaced a soup made with Thanksgiving Day leftovers as The Food Item I’d Rather Not Think About When I Have A Stomach Virus. Honestly, there really aren’t adequate words to describe the foulness of those eggs, but because they made such a lasting impression on me, I will try: damp curdled milky chunks with salsa.
You’re welcome.
Now do have a delightful afternoon.

Sounds like a wonderful time. Egg-cept for breakfast. Yikes!
Those eggs almost made me lose my breakfast. YUCK!
So envious of the weekend you and Melanie shared! Those Huevos? Really, a picture that should not have been shared. ick!
Is that what happens when they try in GA to make a breakfast dish that is famous in Texas??? It sounds fowl…….;)
I’ll go check out Melanie’s description……take care!
Suzanne
I’m ashamed to say I live in the same city as the place those eggs were served. Gag a maggott. Did I even spell maggott correctly? Probably not….
I saw you across the Jesus dome last night. :) I was over with the crazy siesta’s that attacked you and Melanie. JUST KIDDING….I told Fran and Patty on the way home, I just couldn’t get all up in that mess to say hi! So I’ll do it here. HI!!! It was cool to worship with you last night…from across the crowded room. :) What an evening we had. I thought for sure Jesus was coming back!
I’m still trying to convince myself to oh…take a shower and put real clothes on…what a weekend!!

Oh, nasty. Just nasty. Glad you had a super–even if too brief–time!
hi friend :-)
So I already wrote this on Melanie’s blog and I’m just going to copy and paste because I’m lazy like that and because typing one-handed while holding a fussy baby is harder than you’d think.
So I’m really glad I got to meet you last night – but I’m a little embarrassed by how I just stood there like an idiot and barely even introduced myself! I blame 2 things:
1) Somehow on the way over to y’all, I managed to punch my straw through the bottom of my Sonic cup . . . all the melted ice was pouring out along with some leftover lime/cherry juice and I was trying to catch it with my hand for some reason . . .
2) My husband was watching the baby and he kept texting me every few minutes and asking me how to stop all the crying . . .
Anyways, I promise I’m not that socially awkward all the time and if I ever meet you again I will be full of sparkling wit and charm
oh and ps –
My friends and like to call the church “6 Flags over Woodstock” because it really is huge :-)
Boomama, sometimes I read your blog and run to the refrigerator. Sometimes I read, like today, and skip a meal.
So, I figure the pounds you’ve added, you’ve equally taken away.
Oh, how I wish I could have been there. Well, not for those eggs, but in that wonderful sanctuary. The picture even with all the empty seats calls out to me. I can only imagine what it must have been like with the TC music to fill it up. wow oh wow.
I left her a comment not to eat Mexican food in Georgia. It’s like eating BBQ in Vermont- scary.
Or as mama would say- VER-mont. :>)
Thank you, that egg description was just what I needed to help move my morning sickness along from “can barely feel it” to “must not move too quickly.”
That’s too bad y’all ate there (live here, never heard of it). Especially because you passed right by a Pappasito’s coming to the church up 75.
And there’s a great place right behind the church too! (you could throw a rock and hit it from the church parking lot — not that you would. I’m just sayin’)
Better luck next time!
It was great to see you and finally claim the hug I was supposed to get at the Siesta Fiesta in San Antonio last August. Love your blog – love you more –
GA Jan
Loved seeing you! Even if it was for a second! Awesome evening!
What a pleasure it was to meet you (and BooDaddy) for the first time last night. That worship experience was just amazing! I can hardly wait for the CD to come out because I know that it is going to be amazing!
Glad you had a safe trip home and I hope to see you again soon at another event.
God bless you and your sweet family,
Emilie (“MiMi”)
THANK YOU for posting about the show a couple of weeks ago- I was able to go with 2 friends and we were so blessed by the whole experience. My friends were a little weirded out that I was keeping an eye out for my imaginary internet friends who have never heard of me but whom who I quote routinely. Never was able to spot you – the “God Dome” was quite large, after all. I did want to tell you that you have influenced me in 2 ways – first, I bought 2 CASES of Captain Rodney’s glaze for Christmas gifts and now everyone I know has been blessed by “the best dip ever”. But secondly, and much more importantly, a little six year old boy in Indonesia named Rafli is now our sponsored child because of you and the monkey trap and because your friend Shaun was the one who made the pitch and I was all excited because I knew who he was because of Boomama. Again my friends didn’t get the whole Boomama & Bigmama thing I was talking about but my friend J did sign up to sponsor a child also!
Sophie — how great to finally meet you in Atlanta in the Siesta madness!! It was just an awesome worship experience and a hilarious Siesta time!! Wish I’d seen more of ya!
Oh, and Alabama bloggers Rock!!!
I’ll keep reading your blog if you never use the word “curdled” again. lol.
Okay, I’m seriously about to hurl after reading that last sentence. Oh my word.
On to much more pleasurable things, I had SO much fun Sunday night and I’m so glad that we were able to meet again! How fun it was to chat with you, BooDaddy and Melanie after such an amazing worship experience. I thank God for the internet and sweet blog friends =)
Sophie,
Such a pleasure getting our praise on with ya’ll at what locals refer to as ‘The Mall of God’. I must share: The first time I ever heard this reference and was asked if I attended the Mall of God, the Holy Spirit prompted my response,
‘Why yes, God is definitely all over that place’, they were struck dumb.
Again, I sure wish it had worked out so you could have joined us in the choir, it would have been such a pleasure! Maybe next time :0)
Lastly, as I told Melanie, I will never hear or sing ‘Victory in Jesus’ the same way. I will forever flashback to two, count ’em TWO blessed rounds of rockin the house down. That computer glitch was the best kinda bad news
love and hugs,
tammy
I was just wondering… by the looks of that sanctuary, it looks as if you could fit 3,000-3,500 people in it… :)
Holy cow, those eggs looked HAY-NUS.
