You Deserve To Fly Like A Dove. And Have Love. That Fits Like A Glove. From Above.

I am a longtime fan of The Bachelor, and there’s no question that each season has had a unique personality, a special brand of charm. But I can honestly say that this particular season has topped all the rest – what with the two-hour episodes, the extra helping of cheese where the dates are concerned (I will hold the General Hospital group date in my heart for the rest of my earthly days), and last but not least, Stephanie’s staggering array of accessories.

That’s really the only downside to tonight, by the way – the fact that we won’t get to see Stephanie’s Fashion Parade. I mean, she had more hair clips than I have earrings, and quite frankly I admire that in a girl.

Anyway, tonight’s episode offered my favorite of all the Bachelor traditions: the bachelor’s visits to the girls’ hometowns. This is one episode that I cannot possibly watch live because of the sheer volume of rewinding and pausing required. I study this episode like nobody’s business; in fact, if I had applied this amount of effort when I was in college, I probably would have been rewarded with some sort of medal at our commencement exercises.

(I mean, IF I COULD HAVE MAJORED IN REALITY TELEVISION?)

(Ican’teventhinkaboutit.)

We started off tonight’s hometown dates with Jillian in British Columbia.

THAT’S IN CANADA, Y’ALL.

Jillian seemed a little bit nervous at first (there was talking! a lot of talking!), but then she and Jason went to a winery where there happened to be a fireplace and some pillows and, oddly enough, some wine. They had a very emotional conversation about Jillian’s family situation. Jason responded by saying that he wanted Jillian to “let me be that rock so that she can fall down,” and while I was wondering WHAT IN THE SAM HILL THAT MEANT, Jillian called him “babe.” So there were some developments.

Jason met Jillian’s family, and they all seemed to get along beautifully. Dinner culminated with Jillian’s mom reading a poem and then pulling a practical joke on Jason when they had a one-on-one talk. WACKY HIJINKS, PEOPLE. WACKY HIJINKS. I have to say, though, that all in all Jillian’s family seemed like such sweet people (her daddy was precious and obviously loves his baby girl a ton), and her grandmother cracked me up. The visit went just about as well as it possibly could have.

Molly’s hometown was next, and she greeted Jason at the country club with some golf clubs and a snazzy new golfing outfit. Molly piled on some serious pressure by telling us (and Jason) about forty five times that SHE DOESN’T NORMALLY BRING GUYS HOME, and if I were Jason I’d have probably asked a producer to pass me a Xanax. Or nine.

There was no shortage of cringe-worthy moments at Molly’s house – there was the hat box, the stilted conversation, the portrait drawing (OH MAY I PLEASE HAVE A COPY OF THAT MASTERPIECE), the pinched smile when Molly talked about “Maryann” – and I’m really starting to think that Jason is the nicest guy in the whole wide world because he was such a great sport about everything.

Personally I was relieved when it was over. I’m pretty sure I sighed audibly.

The next stop on the hometown tour was Naomi, and it took almost no time for her to bring up whether or not she’s ready for marriage. Naomi was admant that she’s ready, and Jason was pretty adamant that she might not really know what being ready for marriage means.

But the serious didn’t last for long, because what followed had to be the most entertaining series of home visit events I have ever witnessed in all my years of Bachelor watching. Naomi’s mom broke out the hula hoops, told a story about how a dove crashed into her windshield, and then asked Jason to perform the eulogy at the dead dove’s funeral. Surprisingly, Jason didn’t run screaming out of the backyard, though he did look deeply and profoundly uncomfortable, oh bless his heart.

Also: Naomi’s dad talked to Jason about Jesus and Naomi’s mom talked to Jason about her past lives.

I don’t really think there’s anything else I can add to that last sentence.

Finally – OH, HAPPY DAY – Jason traveled to Dallas to see Melissa. And people, I don’t think it takes a relationship expert to determine that those two were flat-out elated to see one another. OFF THE CHARTS HAPPY. The happiness took a brief nosedive when Melissa told Jason that her parents weren’t comfortable with the public aspect of meeting him in a room filled with cameras, and all I have to say about that is HEY, MELISSA’S PARENTS: GOOD CALL. I mean, if meeting your daughter’s possible husband on national television means that you have to pull out a hat box and/or bury a suicidal dove, I FULLY SUPPORT YOUR DECISION TO STAY OUT OF THE LIMELIGHT.

I thought it was so interesting to find out more about Melissa’s background, and I also thought it was so interesting that Melissa and Jason got time together after their dinner date with her friends. It made me wonder if Jason asked for more time – because nobody else had that sort of a one-on-one deal. Or maybe I’m just overthinking it because I want them to end up together. I actually feel quite certain that I’m overthinking it.

After all the hometown visits were over, Jason sat down for a therapy session with Chris Harrison. Jason told Chris that people opened up, walls fell down, doves hit cars, etc. and so on and so forth amen. I found myself wanting to tell Jason to go ahead and send Molly and Naomi home, but unfortunately my pleas could not be heard through the television set, nor could they travel back in time to the site of a rose ceremony held several months ago in Seattle’s beautiful Fairmont Hotel.

Jason’s first two roses went to Molly and Jillian, which means that the last rose was clearly meant to send a message (from the producers) to Melissa that Jason was ticked (at least for the sake of rose ceremony drama) that he didn’t meet her parents (though I think he likes her so much that the whole no-parents thing wasn’t much of a deal). Naomi was as gracious as could be about Jason’s decision, and I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate her for rockin’ a halter-neck dress like nobody’s business.

At the end of tonight’s episode we learned that the next round of dates are in New Zealand (they’re soaring! to new heights!), so I’m already terribly worried about how jet lag may play into our final results. However, my worry is tempered by the fact that New Zealand is where DeAnna will show up to create some fake drama that results in Jason slinging himself into the balcony railing as he cries his eyes out, and if that’s not worth two hours of your time on a fine February evening, then I don’t know what is, people.

In conclusion, I’d like for you to remember that, as Jillian’s mom said, you deserve to fly like a dove.

And at some point, as Jason said, you may need your wings.

But for the love of pete, just make sure that you don’t fly into Naomi’s mama’s car.

The end.

  1. When the mom teared up during the reading of the poem, I aBOAT lost it. Only in Canada does ‘again’ rhyme with ‘rain’.

  2. Hilarious! You had me literally laughing out loud. I agree with you about Melissa. I like her and am glad she got to stay another week!

    Denise

  3. You are killing me!!! Can’t stop laughing!

  4. Loved your take on everything. But what’s up with Mol? Jil? and Mel? Seriously!! lol I was waiting for him to send Nao home.
I wonder what was wrong with that dove that ‘she’ had to kill herself? And just in time for Jason’s home visit. That was one strange mother, no joke!
So glad I stayed up long enough to read your review.
Was it Naomi and I’s date? I can’t remember which girl but those are the words he chose.
I seriously have a problem with how much he is kissing all the girls. If he wanted to send Naomi home, please don’t kiss her over and over. That’s just gross and unfair! And I am pretty sure he knew before the hometown date. Even I was pretty sure. Just my views of the night.
    Goodnight and sleep tight!

    Hugs,
    Marie

  5. Naomi’s mom = best crazytown crazypants EVER. I love that Jason told her that it’s not her family.

I’m excited about the NZ thing, even though the jet lag will kill those ladies if they don’t get a day or two to recover. Or maybe ABC arranged to knock them all out with an Ambien (or DeAnna) in first class. We spent the holidays in NZ and it is SO gorgous there – looks like Jason and somebody took the same helicopter ride to the Mt. Cook glaciers that we took. Most beautiful and insane experience ever.

  6. I can’t believe DeAnna will be back. That’s a bunch of crap. Seriously.

I hope that as soon as Jason sees her he puts a boot up her you know what immediately. That’s not even funny. I hope he can see past the drama ABC is trying to create and remember what she did to him… and who would want that girl after that. Geez..

Can you tell I get a little too involved?

  7. I was just excited to see another Dallas Cowboy’s Cheerleader (Stephanie). You think they have to sign a release from CMT so they can double dip in the reality TV pool?

  8. I’ll tell you this. If I had to pick one girl to sit and eat chips and salsa with, it would be Melissa.

Her friends were awesome. Reminded me of my peeps.

Naomi’s family? There are no words.

DeAnna’s return? This week better blow by FAST because I am EAGERLY anticipating the cry fest.

  9. Your Bachelor recaps are the HIGHLIGHT of my week. I’m not sure what that says about my social life, but it’s true!

  10. I’m telling you that nothing would make me more uncomfortable than a backyard filled with hula hoops. It’s a lot of pressure to perform.

Also, I’ve never wished that I was Canadian, but now that I know that “rain” and “again”rhyme in Canada, I’m totally jealous.

  11. I seriously cannot stop laughing! You are too funny for words and I look forward to reading your Bachelor recaps every week.

I am also a huge fan of Melissa and I am crossing my fingers that Jason knows a good thing when he sees itand chooses her. And I also hope that he sends DeAnna packing. If he gives her another chance after she pulverized his heart the last time then he’s not nearly as smart as I thought he was.

  12. now, i have to come right out and say that i do not watch this show, but for some reason found myself sucked in to the last 45 minutes.

what i want to know is why the host dude feels like it’s necessary to bust into the rose ceremony and announce that it’s the final rose? why thank you, hon, for that little PSA–because i was having a hard time keeping count of ALL THREE! :0)

  13. I don’t watch this show, but oh HEAVENS I loved your recap!

  14. Ok, so I don’t watch The Bachelor (or really any tv at all), but your commentary makes me want to fill all my spare time with YOUR favorite shows! Thanks for the laughs!

  15. thank you for this lovely and detailed recap. I didn’t stay up to watch last night becuse it was on later than usual due to the Presidential Press conference (is it just me or has the word “stimulus” becoming very annoying?) Anyway, we don’t have a DVR thingy so I was counting on you and you did not disappoint :) I’m pulling for Jillian mostly because she’s Canadian but I’m with you and think it’ll be Melissa. Ah, television…you do entertain us so

  16. OK, I would like to say that I don’t even watch the Bachelor, but I read your recaps and they make me howl with laughter.

    Oh, my side!

  17. Was that a Slanket Jillian’s mother was wearing during her private conversation with Jason? Has that horrible fashion accessory actually crossed the border?

  18. I love your recaps! I especially love how you tied everything together at the end! :)

  19. Gosh, that Naomi’s family makes mine look normal! And I don’t even watch the show! I don’t think I need to because your recaps are GREAT!

  20. I enjoy your recaps just as much as the episodes! This past episode was just tooo funny, especially with the dead dove. Jason’s face was pricless during it all!

  21. I do NOT like Melissa and I don’t understand why everyone else does!! What am I missing about her??

  22. Love your recaps!

So the powers at ABC are totally messing with us! Super detectives at jokers have proof that Melissa did not receive the last rose. As she walks back you can see a rose on the table.

    Hope the link works.

  23. I’m just wondering how MUCH of this is actually orchestrated by ABC and how much of this is REAL???? Some of what I saw last night…….whoa….totally unbelievable! Loved your recap….and even my dh said that Jason is pretty “kissy”…..I don’t like all the kissing he is getting out of this. If he kisses Deanna, I will freak out. Surely he will not do anything other than SEND HER PACKING!

I do like Jillian and I do like Melissa. Jillian seems to have the overall better family package, but that’s just because we haven’t seen Melissa’s. I mean, she IS a TX girl…..;)
    Suzanne

  24. Haha!!! This was the best recap I’ve read so far, LOVED it!!!! Have a GREAT day :o)

  25. Oh, was that not glorious! I loved every minute! Your ending made me laugh out loud! Love it. H

  26. Whew – for a short time the producers had me thinking Naomi was a “contendah”. Bless her split personality family -my DH and I talked about how odd it was if she was so dadgum religious (which is totally different from following Jesus but we don’t need that topic right now) how could she have avoided talking about religion with Jason? Also pretty disappointed in Jason’s views – they could have left that out entirely. Still lovin’ Melissa – she is a “make the best of a tough situation” gal and that goes a long way in marriage. Like Jillian a lot more than I have – thinking Mol is just a bit OCD. Great recap – the dove theme was so freakin irritating I ate some (chocolates not the birds!). Ready and waiting for the Deanna drama – she is SO yesterday’s news.

  27. I haven’t watched every season of the bachelor, but this one has drawn me in. I can’t wait for each and every Monday. I really like Melissa and Jillian (She’s Canadian).

  28. I sooooo love your weekly Bachelor recap posts. This one made me laugh out loud. I’m right there with you on Naomi and Molly. Molly needs to be exiting next week. I didn’t like Melissa in the beginning, but she’s quickly become one of my favorites. If it ends up being between her & Jillian, I’m happy. I think either of them would make a wonderful wife to Jason & stepmother to Ty. I just CANNOT stand Molly, so as long as she’s not in the final, I’m cool! How nutso was Naomi’s family? WOW!!! That’s all I can say . . . WOW!!!

I’ll look forward to next week’s recap!

  29. Dear Boo Mama,

I don’t want us to go to blows over this. And although I am a big fan of the mud-wrestling craze of ’98, I’m also hoping it doesn’t come to that.

    But for the record…

I love me some Jillian. And think that the producers are editing for tension and not for true feelings. (Think Travis Stork circa 2002 and that girl he chose that no one remembers even though they both live in my hometown of Nashville and I once tried to sprain my leg just so he would have to bandage it up at Vanderbilt Hospital but now he’s on that stupid show The Doctors and still no one knows what ever happened to the girl he chose…but I digress.)

I believe his heart and ring will go to Jillian.

    Don’t hit me,
    Melissa

  30. Last night as I was watching the show, I thought of what you were going to write about and I couldn’t wait to read it today!
As soon as the hula hoops made an appearance and the funeral and past lives convo, I was telling Jason to run, run far away!
My fav part was when Naomi acted surprised over her mother’s actions! Pa-lease!! Also, when they showed Naomi coming back in after she said goodbye to Jason, her family was on the patio drinking, when they toasted, her brother or whoever he was toasted with the bottle, not the glass. Now, that is klassy! ;)

I loved Jillian’s family and I was a bit worried for Melissa. I will never read the words again and process without thinking of Jillian.

Molly, she seemed stand offish to me and I think she will be the next to go…wait a minute…her and Deanna will share a limo ride together as they both get the boot.

Melissa has been my choice all along and they truly seemed so excited to see each other and after all, Jason did say he could love her w/out meeting her parents. Whew!

Cannot wait til the next show.

  31. Oh my stars. I haven’t watched the bachelor in years, but I so want to watch it now. Even if it’s practically over.

  32. I am eternally grateful for your detailed and hilarious recap, as I was UNABLE to watch last night and therefore was quite concerned. I am thrilled that Naomi has left but do wonder why it took so long. After reading about her home life, no wonder the poor girl is confused. Thanks SO MUCH.

  33. Kelly Kulich says:

I never even watch the Bachelor but I can’t hardly wait every tuesday morning to read your recap of the episode…one of the highlights of my week lol, thanks!

  34. I just about came unglued when Naomi’s mom started telling the dove story. A suicidal dove. A dove that her mamma had so graciously kept in the fridge for this special occasion for her daughter’s hopeful future spouse to eulogize. Seriously folks…whose family does that kind of stuff?

  35. Brilliant! This show, for viewers like me, is NOTHING without your Bachelor posts. If I were there, I’d bake you a batch of cookies, because I like you that much.

  36. I don’t usually watch the bachelor, and by that I mean I never watch, but after this post I am seriously considering making room for it in my viewing rotation.

You are hilarious, I think they should give you a job doing the comentary during the show, you know like the special features on DVDs where the director and everyone else and their dog gets to talk while the movie plays? I’m imagining your voice during the memorial service for the dove and I’m thinking it could be a real ratings boost.

  37. I am trying to decide if I met a boy’s family and had to wear whacky hats, draw pictures, hoola hoop, or bury a bird which would send me running for the woods.

It is pretty much a toss up.

  38. I loved it when Mollys dad made her promise not to cry if she wasn’t chosen. That is so my dad.

  39. I LOVE Melissa, too!!! Stephanie even said in an interview after she was kicked off that those 2 have a connection unlike he has with ANY of the other girls!!

Check out my blog for a fun fun fun giveaway!

  40. I got tickled about the slot machines in the background while Naomi’s daddy was sharing Jesus with Jason.

  41. ok, I didn’t read the comments before I commented earlier but let me tell you that it cracks me up to learn that she rhymed “rain” with “again”. It must just be western Canadians who do that because here in the East, our “again” does not rhyme with rain :)

  42. Best recap ever! My hubby and I were just flat out uncomfortable while watching Naomi’s family. The mom freaked us out. LOL!

  43. OH MY WORD..let me just tell you that 1st..I would have soooooooooo majored in reality TV in college! I would have aced it!!! 2nd-The whole balcony scene with Jason cracks me up. Every. single. time. I mean I’m all about a man crying BUT when he slings himself to that balcony, I have tears running down my face..from all the laughter!!! So funny!!! I loved your post today. Oh, and I totally want Melissa to win because I can see us sitting somewhere in stretchy pants eating ice cream or something! Love her!

  44. I thoroughly enjoyed last night episode knowing I was going to get your take on it today. Thanks for not failing to leave a girl in Florida laughing!!!

  45. I’m not a laugh out loud kind of girl. I’m just not. When I find something funny I just giggle quietly inside and have a little smile on my face. Your second to the last line about the dove and Naomi’s mama’s car? I LAUGHED OUT LOUD….SEVERAL TIMES!!!!!

  46. So I totally don’t watch this show… I hate it with all that is in me. Probably because of the tag line week after week after week of this being “the most dramatic rose ceremony ever!” But I love, love, love to hear your editorials about it. It makes me laugh and secretly wish that I did start watching the show.

  47. Jenny from VA says:

1)Jason handled the families with so much class…he seems like such a solid guy.

2)I’m getting worried about Melissa’s family situation. The previews indicated that she hasn’t spoken with them. Why is she not telling him the real story?

3)Deanna has some nerve coming back again. I think it’s pretty clear that she LOVES to be on TV. And I feel bad for Jesse.
    4)I have no life. :)

  48. I feel like I actually watched it!!! Only I’m pretty darn sure your version was funnier and more intuitive and entertaining than the televised version. Girl, you rock the reality TV summaries like NObodies business! This review has also made me decide that I need to keep up the preaching to my babies to not try out for any reality TV show except for Survivor. Because then I could live vicariously through them. I know I wouldn’t survive Survivor. Is that selfish of me??

  49. Perfect re-cap of last night’s show. I hope that Jason tells DeAnna exactly where to go. :)

  50. Lindsey Hemphill says:

I don’t even watch the Bachelor (never have) but I have to read your recap every week. I don’t think there are many things funnier than this!!!! You are a hoot and I love it!

  51. I don’t even watch the Bachelor for heaven’s sake, but for some reason I felt compelled to read your recap, and I can’t believe I am about to say this….I think I’m going to have to tune in next week!
    Fantastic writing, BooMama.
    Amy

  52. I just love your re-caps! I am just really thinking that DeAnna is just pretending to want him back. “what I’m saying is you still have a chance..blah, blah.” It’s all a hoax if you ask me!

I think you are right about Melissa! I liked all the nice things her friends said about her. I did think it was weird that none of her friends really knew her parents though!

  53. At this point, even though Melissa is my favorite (LOVE how they were so obviously excited to see each other in her hometown), I’m okay with any of them he chooses. They all seem like really great girls!

and Ijusthavetosaythis, could you IMAGINE being the one with the ring on your finger right now, watching him kiss every girl every time he sees them?! Homeboy and I would so definitely be having a chat about that….

  54. I don’t know what I like more…watching the show, or reading your commentary :)

  55. That was the best recap! You totally put into words everything I was thinking while watching it. I just hope Jason does find his happily ever after.

  56. Watched every last bit of it like nobodys business and thought of you and your recap the entire time…..because the material was just BEAUTIFUL and priceless.
But to follow alongside Carlos Whittaker on twitter during the show about made me laugh out loud multiple times…..especially at Naomi’s house.

Anyhoo…it was lovely and I CANNOT wait for the crying over the balcony scene. CAN’T WAIT!

  57. I catch some of the show when I work out on Monday nights, and it’s the first one I’ve ever seen this much of. The Bachelor is weird. I keep telling my husband that no born-again Christian would ever go on that show, because JEEPERS the things they have to do! Like accepting a proposal after a few weeks of mostly just kissing but barely knowing a person.

That said, I’m rooting for Jillian. She seems the most sincere. I also gave kudos to Melissa’s parents, because I sure as heck wouldn’t want to have to put on a show the first time I met a potential in-law, either. But…it sounded from her descriptions more like they probably don’t really care that much to be a part of her life. My prediction: Jillian.

  58. I don’t even WATCH this show, and I am laughing so hard that I almost wet my pants!!! I am definitely tuning in next Mon. to see the DeAnna Drama. Actually, I almost always tune in to the last two episodes. Don’t know why. Thanks for the recap and the laughs! You are so funny!

  59. I LOVE reading your “review” after every Bachlor episode!!! I swear it is the only reason I even watch the show! Thanks for the laughs!!!

  60. I usually read about episodes here before I watch them, but I couldn’t bear to hear it here first if by some horrible chance Melissa went home, but ohmyword… it’s so funny to read your recap after having already seen it. You have a gift…keep it coming boomama!

  61. I have never watched The Bachelor, and I laugh my tail off at your recaps. I have a feeling it might be better than actually watching the show at all. :)

  62. We have not got the new season of the Bachelor yet but it makes no difference! I can picture the whole thing through your post. Classic! I agree with Kelli, watching the actual show may be a huge let down after this!

  63. Goodness gracious. I LOVE reading your recaps – makes me laugh every time! I didn’t read through all the comments – so I don’t know if anybody else mentioned this, but if you go back and watch The Bachelor, you see when Jason gave Melissa the rose there is still a rose left on the stand. So it was just good editing, he didn’t really save her until last. I read that on another blog, I’m not that savvy.

  64. Even though someone actually wrote up a blog post about how unspiritual I am for watching the Bachelor, I was SO stinking excited for last night to arrive.

Why can’t I think of what the Maryann thing was? Help!

I did have one horrible thought that the first preview that made it SEEM like Mel is the one at the end was actually a PLANT to make us THINK that all along when really he goes for Jil. I’m a conspiracy theory subscriber.

  65. How did I miss this? Did anyone else notice that Jason’s house (the scene at the beginning when he walks out with his little boy) is just like the Tom Hanks’ house in Sleepless in Seattle? That’s cool I think. I love your recaps. They are better than watching the show!

  66. I don’t even watch the Bachelor (I can’t get sucked in!!), but your recaps make we want to watch – stinkin’ hilarious!!! thanks!

  67. I sincerely heart you BooMama! My girls asked why I was laughing so hard and I told them about you and your Bachelor commentary.

I noticed Jason had his arm around Melissa during dinner and I didn’t see that with anyone else. Perhaps the relaxed atmosphere with friends allowed it more easily, I don’t know. Perhaps you are right afterall!

I just wonder how important family is to Jason. If Melissa doesn’t talk with her parents as they alluded at the preview for next week, why is that, and will it make a difference?

Perhaps Jillian is too stable and mature for Jason. I REALLY liked her family and her mom’s poem was precious.

At first I thought Stephanie should be the next Bachelorette, but if you are right about Melissa, I’ll change to Jillian being the next one.

My girls and ME are going to bed now.

Thank you for the laughs womanhood!

  68. oh I just love reading your recaps! ;-)

So did you notice the scene when Jason was standing on the porch after sitting down with Chris? He’s staring off into the yard with light shining on only him. A thing of cinematic beauty . . .

Also, Naomi’s family? A whole nother brand of crazy — seriously? How did those two ever get married in the first place??!

I love Melissa, although I also love Jillian because, well, I’m Canadian and her dad cracked me up. But I think it depends how important family is to Jason, because something seems weird about Mel’s family if her very best friends dont even know her parents and she doesnt even talk to them?! Anyhoo – I’ll be happy if either of those two win! :-)

  69. Oh my gosh! I found your blog through Heather Whittaker’s blogs and I just love you. I am an avid Bachelor watcher too and oh you just cracked me up! Thanks for the awesome recap…even though I definitely watched on Monday night, I enjoyed every bit of your blog.

  70. They totally edited the order of the rose ceremony to make it look like Melissa was picked last. Go back and take a look when Melissa is walking away…there is still a rose on the stool.

  71. MELISSA WINS!!!! THEY GAVE IT AWAY IN THE FIRST EPISODE WHEN THEY SHOWED JASON PROPOSING!!!! IT SHOWS A GIRL WEARING A PINKY RING, MELISSA IS THE ONLY GIRL WHO WEARS A PINKY RING!…..THEY ARE ENGAGED !!!!!

  72. I found you through Whittaker Woman’s latest entry. Oh my goodness! I have missed out! You are hysterical and the recaps are great. I couldn’t help but laugh at the whole dove episode. I had a similar event take place last year, but I didn’t bury the bird. I was hauling it down the interstate, and all of a sudden a cardinal flew in front of me. By the noise it made, I knew my windshield would be shattered at the point of impact. So I opened my eyes, to see the remains… and to see if I was keeping the old hoopty between the lines. Much to my surprise, the bird did not hit the windshield. I caught the dang thing with my antenna! The only thing left was the skin and feathers wrapped around the antenna and the head and feathers were flapping in the wind like a team flag. (Maybe that’s my million dollar idea for any cardinal fans) Luckily I had my trusty camera phone to document the occasion. Who would believe that? It stayed on there for the next 15 miles until I got to my exit. I quit screaming after about 2 miles. As I slowed the hoopty down, the bird slowly slid down, leaving red feathers in it’s wake and he slipped off to the big nest in the sky. My brother said it was the equivalent of Mr. Miogi (from the Karate Kid movies) catching the fly in his chopsticks. Anyway… I really enjoy reading your take on the reality world and will definitely be back. Thanks for the laughs!

  73. Had to wait until I finished watching this episode to read your recap. Hilarious!!

Looking forward to next Monday’s recap already!
