I don’t know what’s up with me this week, but I have had to FIGHT to get out of bed every single morning. I think I’ve hit that point in the year when I’m Officially Tired of a schedule, and I keep thinking about how wonderful it would be to have about five straight days where I could sleep in and stay in my pajamas all day and read books and snuggle with my people and eat chicken.
By the way, I’m not the only one in our house who is tired of a schedule. This morning Alex was eating breakfast and he said, “Mama? You know what? When school is out, every single day I’m going to wake up and I’m going to sing, ‘What time is it? Summer time! It’s our vacation!'”
And I said, “Really?”
And he said, “Okay. Maybe not. But I’ll THINK it, at least.”
I thought that was a good decision. I love the High School Musical 2 and all, but quite frankly there’s absolutely no way I can listen to that song every single morning unless Zac Efron is going to come over and do the dance routine with the basketball in our foyer.
So anyway, that’s my short-term dream: a few mornings in pajamas with nothing on our schedules. Plenty of time to hang out and veg out and maybe even clean out. And let me tell you: in about two more weeks – when summer vacation starts – that’s exactly what I’m going to do. Along with watching my fair share of Bravo when a certain little person isn’t around.
Are y’all feeling the same way? Like your batteries need to be re-charged? Anybody else craving some pajama days?

I’m still in mine as I type…..but have some stuff later this weekend. But, yes….multiple pajama days would be lovely
Yes. It’s the worst time of year to teach college students. Every morning I wake up to an inbox full of whiny emails to the tune of, “But just because the exam date is on the syllabus you handed out in January doesn’t mean I should have known that the exam is tomorrow” and, “If I get a B+ in this class, my whole life will be ruined because I won’t get into law school/med school/the traveling circus” and, “But I MEANT to say that in my paper so you should give me the points anyway.”
Pj days cannot arrive soon enough.
I just want to clean my house. Pajamas, jeans, sweats…whatever. I just want a whole week to purge and clean. I couldn’t even consider snuggling and watching tv in that pig pen.
I’m totally wishing for some pajama-wearing days, Boo Mama! This is our first weekend in forever without any major commitments. I can’t wait to sleep in tomorrow!
Yes, multiple pajama days would be divine.
And that “What time is it†song? Well, we do sing it every morning when we wake up and we are actually ON vacation. And I believe I’m the instigator, not my 5 year old!
And that cleaning thing? Oh, my word, does my house need a good purging!
I went three months without a car this winter, so I had my fair share of jammie days… What I could go for is some laying by the pool sipping something fruity days. Now that sounds good.
Would love a day off to catch up on some reading. Seriously need some ‘down time’!
But I am 2 days into “The DREADED Shred” and I think it is going to take care of all of this….and just kill me DEAD.
Hope you have a wonderfully blessed Mother’s Day.
Blessings always,
Kaye
Matthew 21:22
Still in my pajamas. I look a fright.
Somedays I get up, put on an ‘undergarment’ in case someone stops by, and just wear them all day long. Somedays you just need that, I say amen to it.
We have had rain for the past FOREVER, and I’m starting to crack the teeniest bit. I’m pretty sure I’m going to need a straight jacket and some “fun pills” pretty soon if the sunshine doesn’t come out soon!
*Oh, and if you’re needing a *gasp!* moment this morning (you know, to jump start your battery), feel free to wander over to my blog and check out what the rain brought us yesterday. Just a note of warning: make sure the kids aren’t with you at the computer screen, unless you want to answer a few, um (ahem), “challenging” questions. ;)
Hmm. The link to my blog doesn’t seem to be working.
Try this: http://www.kritterkrit.blogspot.com/
I’m ready for some pj wearing days filled with book reading and tv marathons with my teen.
I would love to take a NOTHING vacation. I want to go to the beach or mtns and do NOTHING except read and relax.
I can’t even begin to describe the anticipation I’m feeling….along with all 3 of my teenagers!
Getting up has been torture this whole last month.
We’re in Indiana….and we’ve been overwhelmed with snow days this year as well as a week off due to Hurricane Ike (yes, I said Hurricane Ike). His after effects hit our town and wiped us out for over a week….no electricity.
So…instead of school ending on May 26th…..we have an extended time of June 2nd! Oh yea…..I’m not bitter! Oh no, I’m not!
We are gonna be BUMS!!!! The whole summer!
“Some Pajama days?”
Oh, honey…I’d like a pajama day every day!!
I’ve got some vacation time planned later this month and I cannot WAIT. PJ day here I come!
Yes, a million times, yes!! Is it spring or summer fever? I’m hoping to quit my job in 3 weeks, so the fever is @an extremely heightened state of frenzy. Staying hoem with my kiddos this summer sounds like a complete idyllic dream.
I’m always dreaming of a pj day, but I have 2 kiddos under 4. I think I may get to have one in about 12 years…Oh what a dream!
Definitely. I’m definitely tired of the kids that don’t want to get up, but want to stay up late, and the year end rush of activities. I would love it if summer started today…
Sweet mercy yes- I am on my last three days of teaching high schoolers for the year- they’ve been over the schedule since March and this week they’ve officially been “done” and have reverted back to preschool behavior. We’re all hanging by a thread trying not to commit felony violence before the year ends. I very much need some pjs and peace.
I work three days a week…..but let me tell you. I am on countdown mode when it comes to summer vacation. Those two extra days that I will have to NOT get up and put on make up and hurry the little ones around can’t come soon enough.
Actually, I hate staying in my pajamas, but I’m most definitely craving some days where I don’t have to wake my boy up for school, wake myself up early to get him up, etc. etc.
I CAN’T WAIT until June 6th!
A friend of mine just suggested your blog to me, and I’m loving it already…
I am so with you on this subject. I’m ready for my daughter to be home this summer, and not have to share her with kindergarten everyday. Lots of doing exactly what we want to do, or nothing at all. Aahhhh!
Going to read some more now. Happy Mother’s Day to you!
6 MORE DAYS OF SCHOOL!!!! We homeschool, so I’m just as anxious for a break as my girls! (All those days of doing school during random school holidays will be paying off in a little over a week.)
So I guess I’m a little ready for summer.
Our countdown started with ‘both hands and both feet’ – 20 days of school left. I’m happy to report we now have 2 hands and 4 toes left, it’s the only thing getting us up in the morning. That and the swim passes hanging on our fridge (;
I heart pajama days! Only 3 weeks and 2 days to go!
Um, yes! I have taken my daughter to school an hour late several times recently because I could not get myself out of bed…now THAT is bad!
Pajama days = why we home school.
Not really.
We homeschool because the bus comes at something like 7:30 in the morning (who knew there were TWO 7:30’s in a day?) and, around here, anything that happens before Regis and Kelly is considered to be In The Middle of The Night.
Kidding. Really. Sort of.
I’ve been anitcipating pajama days again since before Spring Break ever sprung. In fact, as I recollect…..it was shortly after the turn of 2009, my cerebrum began begging for summer slumbers to arrive!!
Oh I am so there! My oldest will graduate high school in two weeks and life is crazy busy getting ready for prom, postprom, graduation parties, senior week, you name it…and that’s only one kid! I just can’t wait for those lazy hazy crazy days of summer! Bring it on!
I hear ya sister. PJ’s, Bravo, Diet Coke and nothing else. Sounds dee-vine!
If you get those days, let me know your secret!
I crave pajama days when I am having a pajama day! :) Maybe that should be a fashion friday for Melanie- What pajamas would be appropriate to wear all day, every day- even in public! :) oh, if only….hey, I can dream, right?! :)
J. has to work tonight so maybe I’ll rent HSM2 so I can learn the lyrics and sing that song myself. Although I’m sure the effect won’t be quite the same as Zac Efron.
I’m definitely looking forward to summer, but I’m afraid our unscheduledness is going to be just as busy. T-ball, zoo, water parks, spray parks, beach vacay… But it will be GLORIOUS!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE those days where we all just stay in our pajamas ALL DAY LONG!
Yes, I am with you!
Especially about cutie patootie Zac. I stinkin love that boy. And yes, I am pretty sure I’m old enough to be his mother in real life. But we’re talking in my dreams.
Yeah, I’d love five consecutive days with no alarm clock clanging in my ear at o’dark thirty and a half. Seriously.
And thanks, but our summer vacay is fully one month away. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can. . . . . .
I’m having one today… (my parents are out of town) so my husband sent me there to watch TV, read, nap, blog and eat. It’s fabulous!
And my 5 year old is singing that HSM song in anticipation of summer vacation too.
Oh we are counting down the days! My Kindergarten has got spring fever so bad his behavior chart this week has looked horrible. Have the passes for the swimming pool all printed out and ready and even have my pool bag packed with fresh sunscreen.
18 more days!
The first week of summer vacation is MANDATORY rest for my kids. Little do they know it’s ME who needs the rest. The end of the school year is exhausting!
Just got off the phone with my daughter, who just finished her first year of college. The fashion major told me that she went to the mall today with girlfriends…with unwashed hair and sweats (NOT a normal occurance)…
“’cause it’s summer-break”.
Oh I miss those days!!!
Yes, I want a couple of weeks with no worries, no stress, a comfy couch, a pile of good books, and only chocolate and coffee for sustenance. But the baby boy growing inside me requires things like water and veggies. No couch in the world is comfortable to me and I don’t think I could read a page without having to start over because of all the forgetting. Thank goodness that in about nine weeks I’ll get to push something the size of a watermelon out of something the size of a lemon. And I won’t have to worry about comfy couches because I probably won’t get to do much laying down. But I’ll have a beautiful chubby-cheeked baby boy in my arms, so who cares?!
Me!!! I just want to sleep and wake up when I wake up.
Went by BW yesterday. thought about you. I’ll be in rm 211, Jana’s old room.
YES!!! (too tired to type anything else…..)
Can’t wait. Hurry up May 21st!
You know, that’s why we homeschool! Well, that’s not WHY, but it’s certainly one of the advantages.
Not having to all be up and out by a certain time every morning is a huge stress reliever. I love that my kids can sleep until their body’s ready to wake up. That doesn’t mean that they sleep in really late – even my 14 yr. old. It’s just that they regularly get enough good sleep, and they’re up by 7:30 or 8, rested. It is a wonderful thing! (And, we can start school in our pajamas if we want, although we usually never do!)
I used to think the best thing about homeschooling was that we could stay in our jammies. Then God REALLY blessed and found me a work-at-home job, so I still don’t have to get dressed!
ps. could you be pregnant? Your sentiments echo the ones my daughter shared with me when she was first pregnant.
Oh boy, I need vacation so bad!! We homeschool so I never really get a break from these rugrats (said with love, of course) and I just LONG for a day where I can clean or do whatever without having the task of schoolwork hanging over my head. I want to sit in the sun and get a tan and do nothing all day.
oh I definitely give you an amen on that one :-) feel ya.
Oh pajama days, they are wonderful. I am right there with ya, looking forward to no schedule!
Yes, please. May 22nd I will be pj-ing it up!
Heck yeah, I practically did a happy dance this morning because I slept in till 7:20! And I told a friend that I’m hoping summer (once preschool is out) will be ever so slightly calmer. So yes, I would love a lounge day or two or ten!
Oh my gracious, yes! Guess it’s not just me!
I hear ya. I am SO ready to be done for the summer!! The thought of changing staying in my pj’s sounds heavenly right now. :)
My batteries started running down about four weeks ago and I have no idea why. So yeah, I understand exactly how you feel. I’m looking forward to lazy summer days and I have no idea why because not a single thing about my life or my schedule is going to change. :-)
oh, my, yes. My Mother’s Day present is sleeping in tomorrow morning- Hubby’s getting up at 7 with the little guy! :) I can’t wait! :)
Craving a chocolate day with no schedule. Unfortunately, I do work part time so I am stuck with a schedule part of the time.
Oh yes. When June 4th rolls around that’s where I’ll be…thanking God for the school year I’ve had and thanking Him more it’s summer!
Amen! flip flops, sundresses, and sipping lemonade under a shady tree. That is all I can think about right now!
We are counting down the moments until summer vacation! I can’t wait for things to slow down. The end of the school year is so hectic. I’m exhausted, my boy is exhausted and we are ready for a break.
Yes I am!!! I am so ready for school to be out – the only thing is, this summer I begin college for the first time. And I just turned 37 yesterday! So, even though they will be out – I will be in. At least when they are sleeping in, I will have time to get my work done!
Feel not bad …. we home school, and are counting the days til it’s over. Unfortunately, someone who shall remain nameless ma be working on stuff through the summer.
Which means I have to as well.
Wah. Wah. Wah.
Yes! I am looking forward to not setting the clock.
Oh my goodness …… YES!!!
In fact, yesterday I was so badly in need of a mental health day that that is exactly what I did ….. stayed in my pjs until 7:30 p.m. And then got out of them to take my son to dinner, and promptly put them back on when we returned.
I cannot imagine what it would be like to have 5 days of them ….. in a row!!
We should make it a Blogger Holiday Week ….. “Blogger PJ Week” … and maybe raise money for how many hours we can stay in our pjs ….. like a marathon charity event.
Thoughts??!!!!
:)
Janine
I am so ready for school to be out (I am a teacher, lol!) and the most stressful thing to think about is what I am fixing for lunch that day. :) I know my 8 year old feels the same way!
My boys (4 and almost 6) are not the stay in jammies and lay around kind of kids, but I think even they are officially there!! I’m hoping soccer is rained out this morning, but it looks like it will be wet and muddy, but no rain so off we’ll go again. :) Two more weeks!!!
I am a first grade teacher. I love my 19 six year-old best friends. But we are ALL ready for summer. 17 more days in my district, but the smell of the neigborhood swimming pools and the sound of the ice cream man’s truck is pulling us toward summer. Can’t wait!
Craving…aching…longing….downright LIVING for them. We are counting down here…and at the elementary school, where I work! I’ll be singing that song with your boy…and maybe jumping on the bed. Good times are coming BooMama…Good times are coming!
Oh yes!! All I wanted for Mother’s Day was a day with no plans and no goals. I need a chance to refuel. We have another 5 weeks of school, and I can’t wait for it to be over.
Yes, craving some slow-down time. It seems we’ve been running the last two months. I always hope that summer will lend itself to a schedule that is less full, but it seems to fill up anyway – just with different activities. I’m trying to focus on refreshing quiet moments throughout my week – an hour here and an hour there…savor along the way!
Preach it! Though we have about 6 more weeks…5 and 1/2, really. This is when living in the NW isn’t as fun. But we don’t start until after Labor Day, so I suppose they actually DO have to get some educational time in on the calendar.
Yeah, so instead of feeling embarrassed about my forays into public with my PJs, I can just stay home in them. :)
It’s like you were reading my mind. I am so tired of schedules, homework, making lunches, cleaning, laundry, homework, making dinner, homework, being alert, alarm clocks, homework. Well you get the picture. Sign me up for pj’s, snuggling and just general staring off in to space, daydreaming kind of days. Sigh….
YES! I love the mornings when my dh has already left for work, and my daughter climbs into bed with me, and I wake up to her snuggling! :)
Oh, girl, me too. It’s been all about the go, go, go around here lately. And seeing as how I TEACH school, it’s even more grating. On Friday I had a girl ask me (in a VERY haughty tone) if I actually EXPECTED her to read a book. Seeing as how I teach language arts, that was EXACTLY what I expected her to do.
Hi Boo Mama,
I am one of the privileged ones who does get to do what you described. I’m a homeschooling mama! We do school most days in our PJs and I always get to hang out with my favorite peeps. Our schedule is what we want it to be, and after one year of full-day school last year, it was very nice to not worry about catching a bus every day. Ever considered homeschooling? : ) I hope you have a wonderful, relaxing summer!
I’m so ready to sleep in. I’m standing in front of high school seniors everyday at 7:25 a.m. Maybe if they let me teach in my pjs, I wouldn’t be so grouchy. :)
Yes Ma’am! My butt is dragging on the pavement! And I homeschool too. It’s work no matter what form of schooling you do. A new schedule is always rejuvinating and fresh. Hold on!
Yes! Give me a day of sleeping in until 11 & some Real Housewives & Millionaire Matchmaker once I wake up!
I definitely am craving some pajama days! I am a teacher, and I am ready for vacation more than my students are.
Unfortunately, here in NJ, we still have a little over a month to go. :(
Oh, I bought two cute sweat pants outfit to lounge around in (much cuter than my jammies).
I am sooooo ready for a break from homeschooling (no offense to my son) and just want to sit around and eat chocolate all day and howl at the moon.
I did a reverse pajama day today. We got up, did the church and lunch thing, and then when my in-laws left at 2:45, I promptly went to my bedroom and donned my comfiest pair of pajamas and slippers.
Ummm…yeah.
Three more Mondays! We have started the count down calendar at our house! I can’t for summer.
AMEN!!!!! I’m all over this!!!!
I resemble these remarks! LOL We are so in need of some rejuvenation. However, I’m thinking more along the lines of the beach, I think. Just fun, relaxation, room to breathe and be all together without worrying about the rest of life for awhile. Now, THAT would be the life. Have a great week……
I totally feel you :)
Clearly you should have come back with “we’re all in this together…” :)
I could definitely use some days like that. I unfortunately work full time and don’t get to enjoy the summer like my kids and husband do, but the weekends are all mine to veg as I please! I love not getting ready early in the morning, or doing housework in my pj’s. Enjoy your down time, sister! :)
My personal battery is definitely needing a recharge. I woke up feeling defeated every morning this week!
I”m in my pajamas right now.
