So about an hour ago I stretched out on the bed because the flu patient wanted to read me a book called “Moose Goes To School” or something like that, and Moose had barely gotten his hooves in the door of the schoolhouse before Mama here fell sound asleep.
And now I’m awake. So I think the odds are pretty good that there are some 2 AM infomercials in my immediate future. Or at the very least a Snugglie showcase on QVC. Who knows? Maybe around midnight I’ll decide to paint the vanity in my bathroom and then rearrange the furniture in the den. The insomnia-related possibilities are endless!
Anyway. The Office.
Last week we learned that Jim and Michael are now going to be co-managers at the Scranton branch, and Dwight’s reaction to the news was a surefire indication that we have great comic possibilities in store. So here’s to hoping that a few of those comic possibilities come to fruition tonight.
And also: here’s to hoping for a whole lot of Andy Bernard.
(By the way – have we ever seen the office where Jim is before? Or is it new? I am terribly confused.)
1. “I’m the big picture guy.”
“Well, I would like to file a huge, enormous complaint about the tallest guy in our office.”
2. “$18,000 and a chance at the title! HOO HA!”
3. “Yesterday we had a meeting about planets.”
4. “Well, to be fair, Jim…James…Jimothy…are you okay with being called Jim?”
5. “Why doesn’t Crate and Barrel let you register for a toaster full of cash?”
6. “My cousin makes the most amazing romantic birdhouse mailboxes – I probably shouldn’t tell you, but you’ll still be surprised when you see it.”
7. “I guess, if I really think about your question, I’d have to go with LC. Heidi is a bad friend, and her skin is terrible.”
8. “When I am irritated and look at you, I don’t see you anymore. All I can see is how big and gross the pores on your nose are.”
9. “You use your brain too much. Sometimes, as far as people, don’t think at all.”
10. “Do you take a check? In the memo line I’m going to write To Love’s Eternal Glory.”
11. “Why don’t you enliven me?”
12. “What we’re going to do is go into here, and we will not come out until we do.”
13. “If people here were our founding fathers, the Revolutionary War would have been delayed ten years. Because Stanley Washington was napping. And Phyllis Hancock was still signing the Declaration. And Kevin Jefferson was distracted by a butterfly.”
14. “The guy has an algorithm to determine the outcome of any college basketball game! Don’t tell Jim.”
I didn’t think this week’s episode was nearly as funny as last week’s, but the tension was probably necessary to establish the new balance of power in the office – and to set up Jim and Michael as allies while Dwight schemes behind the scenes.
So. What did y’all think? And did you see the previews for next week? DID YOU SEE? Raise your hand if you think you’ll cry.
To Love’s Eternal Glory,
Me

I’m planning on crying next week- can’t wait!
The office space is totally throwing me off as well…we need an office tour.
I will be watching The Office next Thursday, then probably multiple repeat watches on Hulu. Finally, Jim and Pam!
That may have to be my new signature line –
To Love’s Eternal Glory In Christ,
Leslie
Don’t shoot me B-Mama. I don’t watch the office. I do, however, watch infomercials if I’m sick. I don’t know why, but they seem to go hand in hand. Especially if you are sick on a Sunday, because there is nothing on the poor man’s cable I have going on. What do I laugh at? The Magic Bullet demo with the grandma’s scowling (sp?!) in the background. The steam cleaner thing that they use on a lighted chandelier. Yes, that doesn’t scream unsafe. There is always Ronco with something that he is peddling. The shoe inserts. The GT Express with the lady that giggles a lot and the goofy guy that’ll eat anything she pops out of there. What do we want? The Worx GT. No kidding. Hubs and I both decided while laying in sick bay that we must have one. We haven’t made the investment yet, though. We’re waiting for it to hit the “SEEN ON TV” sections in the local stores. :)
JIM AND PAM ARE GETTING MARRIED!!!! I loved the “eliven” me line and “Kevin being distracted by a butterfly”! HA!
Oh, I got a lump in my throat just watching the previews. The speech about “little moments” with a friend, and that he was “waiting for his wife?” Bring on the tissues! I’m contemplating hosting a wedding-watching party just for the festivities…either real or twitter :) The real guests would get cake and pigs in a blanket.
I just love your “Office” recaps. I was also very confused about where Jimothy’s office came from.
Can’t wait for next week!!! To love’s eternal glory!
Did you notice that Jim’s office stuck out into the room? I think they had to build him one in the existing space when he became co-manager.
I cannot wait for next week.
I loved Jim…James…Jimothy
and
you have’t registered for a birdhouse have you?
next week…. can’t wait!!!!
Yes…..next week! Can’t wait!
Going to be crying!
I love your Office posts! You catch the funniest lines of the show :). I think Jim’s office was new. I most definitely do not remember seeing that.
Cannot wait for next week’s episodes. I teared up at the preview of Jim’s speech. Sad, I know.
I laughed out loud when Michael was in Jim’s office, both of them with their World’s Best Boss mugs and somebody’s knocking and Michael gives his wise advice: Be quiet and pretend you’re not here. Classic Michael!
I agree they need to show Andy a little more – he cracks me up!
Love your Office quotes. My boss just walked by and said what’s so funny?
You captured the funny last night. I agree about Jimothy’s office. I have no idea where it came from.
This one wasn’t as funny, but I have a feeling that next week’s episode will be. Not to mention a little teary.
To love’s eternal glory, back at ya,
Kelly
So, I kinda teared up when I saw the preview for next week. And then I kept rewinding and watching it again. CANNOT WAIT.
Yeah, I’m crying over the PREVIEW for goodness sake. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched that scene where Jim(othy) tells Pam that he loves her, and then they kiss!
I, too, was perplexed by the new office space, and loved the “enliven” line!!
This week’s episode was a bit boring to me, but I know that next week will more than make up for it…
Yeah, I was confused by Jimothy’s office too, so I rewinded and rewatched every scene several times to figure it out. It is definately new, and it looks like they put it where accounting used to be, and then moved accounting over a little bit, over where creed’s desk is. I’m sure this wasn’t meant to be scrutinized as much as I did, but I had to figure it out. Besides, since the episode wasn’t terribly funny, I was able to focus on something else.
can’t wait for the wedding episode! did you see them on the cover of last week’s entertainment weekly?!Jennifer
In the preview for next week – is that Kevin with a toupee??!!!
There was some funny moment that my husband and I both loved, but now I can’t remember it.
Can’t wait for next week! I read an article in Entertainment Weekly about it, and it sounds pretty stinkin’ funny, but also sweet.
I was confused about the office layout too…where did that new office come from, and Michael’s looked different from the inside too. My favorite was, “we’re going in here and not coming out until we do.” Ha!
#’s 8 and 14 made me laugh!!
I hope that you didn’t deal with insomnia last night. I sure did. :( I wolfed down a huge thing of Italian Sausage Casserole and then went to bed. DUH!
Then I woke up to the TV on (with a feeling like my esophagus was on FI-YAH!) where Jon Gosselin was being interviewed by Larry King. Who’s able to sleep when that kind of trainwreck is right in front of you, I ask? Not me.
Bless their hearts.
(raising my hand)
It was glorious.
I thought the last 10 minutes made up for the first 20. “To love’s eternal glory” about killed me. And Dwight’s monologue about the founding fathers. Too much. But I agree that the tension with the raises was just horrific and made me uncomfortable. And the beans. Oh my.
Jessie
Being a former office manager (even a co-manager, at that), I squirmed a little throughout last night’s episode. Thinking about how unfortunate it is that stuff like that really does go on out there…
But I loved it, as always, and am raising my hand along with you all – can’t WAIT for next week!
Love your recaps. I was a latecomer to the Office (don’t worry, I caught up on DVD) and I think your recaps were one of the biggest influences to getting me to start watching!
BTW, we have closed captioning on (my husband is close to deaf in one ear and I hate the TV too loud) so I think #9 was actually, “Sometimes, the smartest people don’t think at all.”
Oh, how I love The Office. It’s one of the only shows that my husband and I both like. I agree — we need more Andy Bernard. I certainly hope that he sings with “Here Comes Treble” at Pam and Jim’s wedding reception. His lines about his a cappella group KILL me.
Also, “Congrats on the little tuna. You know, the junior toro.” Ah, Andy. You’re the best.
My favorite part was Oscar’s speech about the two presidents and two popes. Too true.
I laughed so hard last night at #12. I just love Michael Scott.
Sooo funny!! By the way I’m making your Potato Soup recipe tonight- yes ma’am I am!!
Sue
I agree that last week was funnier.
But I was so glad to see you include:
“Why don’t you enliven me?â€
&
“What we’re going to do is go into here, and we will not come out until we do.â€
Don’t recall the office for Jim, James, Jimothy?
Seriously, Jimothy? He kills me!
Michael or Dwight’s hair? I’m not sure what’s funnier.
Love the Office!!! I can’t figure out where Jim’s office came from either….I don’t think that we have seen it before, and the way they worked the episode I am still not clear on exactly where it is in relation to everything else (things that make you go hmmmmm)
I saw the previews, and already felt myself getting ready to wipe away a tear…
There, you have your new email siggy now.
I enjoyed seeing Jim act all serious and business like.
I feel like I know him a little better now.
Creed: How come we never…?
Meredith: We did.
“How’s this for a tough decision? You suck!”
And Michael calling Jim “Skippy”.
And #13 is by far one of my favorite Office moments ever!
Thanks for posting all of that! We were having some bad weather in my area and I only saw about half of the show due to weathermen popping in and out!!
One word, Jimothy.
I cannot wait for next week. I got all gushy during the preview and the recap of Jim & Pam’s relationship! I love it! Can’t wait!
That Jimothy still cracks me up! Hilarious!
It’s so awkward (which is probably the point) that whenever Michael of Jimothy need to talk they have to walk across the entire office space. Hilarious! I also LOVED the camaraderie between Michael & Jim. It was good for Jim to really speak up to him during the first meeting about the raise.
Loved Oscar’s speech–is it just me or are they giving him more lines? I like it either way. I was also thinking that we haven’t seen many of Andy’s antics this season and I miss that!
Thanks for the recap! Can’t wait for next weeks!
oh how you make me laugh! so much so that i nominated you for an award on my blog!!
I teared up during the previews.
Here’s the URL to Jim and Pam’s wedding site:

Check out Pam’s cute video blog
I am totally on edge waiting for the wedding episode. I read the whole article in EW about it, and can’t wait!
Also, I’m not enjoying Jim being a “bad guy”, so I’m hoping the tension is alleviated soon.
What a hoot! I LURVE, LURVE, LURVE the office! Giant Puffy Heart it!!!! I missed the previous episode and we watched it on hulu right before this week’s episode, which I totally loved. Also I had your previous post so I think I got the ‘funnies’ even more b/c I was listening for them. As far as Jim’s office, having a hubby who works for a big company in maintenance. They have those ugly modular walls and it’s a piece of cake to move them around and build/rebuild/reconfigure at any given moment. If you notice the conference room, it has like ‘panels’. Just thought I’d share my knowlege w/ everyone :).
Happy Belated Birthday!
Praying your little man is well.
Blessings today and always,
Kaye
Matthew 21:22
Okay Jim’s new office totally confused me too. I have never seen it before, they must have added it!
Btw. love coming to relive the latest episode… my hubby and I aren’t big TV people but we NEVER miss the office.
