This is a compensated review by BlogHer and HP.
A few weeks ago I got an email asking if I’d be interested in reviewing a new HP TouchSmart 600 computer. And yes, I was interested, because I am a nerd and always terribly entertained by anything that plugs in and has a screen, but since I’d never seen the TouchSmart before, I had a mental image of a big, clunky desktop coming into the house. Besides that, we haven’t owned a PC in about ten years, and part of me wondered if accepting the HP was some unforgivable act of Mac betrayal.
But then I remembered the 10 year-old Mac desktop in my office (that, bless its heart, can’t run more than two applications at a time before it starts to wheeze), and I got over my reservations. BRING ON THE HP.

The new TouchSmart arrived a few days later, and y’all, I cannot tell you how impressed we have been by this computer. We love it. It looks great (do you see how skinny it is?), and when David was setting it up, I actually asked him where the rest of it was. It’s essentially the same size as a flat-screen TV. In fact, it can work as a TV – you just plug in your cable and you’re good to go. It can also work as a DVR (CAN I GET AN AMEN?) or a BluRay movie player. There’s even a remote. Be still my heart.
And I wish y’all could have seen my husband’s reaction when he realized that you can mount the TouchSmart on the wall. Suffice it to say that his eyes lit up and then glazed over and I thought for a brief moment that he might need to sit down and put his head between his knees.
We started using the TouchSmart approximately 53 seconds after we set it up, and while I didn’t know how much I’d use all the bells and whistles in our day-to-day routine, I have to say that the touchscreen features are actually my very favorite part. Besides the fact that it makes me feel like Tom Cruise in “Minority Report” when I move my finger around the screen and resize pictures and create collages and pretend like I’m some sort of technological wizard, it’s just so EASY. I can write notes, save recipes, browse the web, play a movie via our Netflix account, laugh at something on Hulu, listen to my Pandora playlist, edit photos and so much more – all without touching a keyboard or a mouse. The computer HAS a keyboard and a mouse, of course (they’re wireless!), and you can use them with any of the TouchSmart applications – but once you get the hang of the touchscreen, it’s oh-so-convenient and fun.

I really could go on and on – about how Alex loves it, about how the touchscreen is COMPLETELY intuitive for a child, about how I adore the Recipe Box feature that lets me add any recipe I happen to run across on the web and will even READ THE RECIPE OUT LOUD TO ME while I cook. But I’m going to quit talking now because we need to get this giveaway started. I think it’s time.
So.
If you’d like to win an HP TouchSmart 600 computer, leave a comment below and tell me where you’d put the computer if you won. Family room? Office? Playroom? Kitchen? Inside Mama’s closet where NO ONE ELSE CAN TOUCH IT? On top of a thrift store desk that you overhauled with turquoise spray paint?
Or, if you’d like, you can leave a comment with a link to a post about the HP on your blog.
And whatever you do, please make sure that your email address is correct.

My workroom!!! Oh do I ever want this one!! My friend has one and I drool over it everytime I’m there. Pick me! Pick me!! Please!!
I would put it in my office. I’ve always loved HP computers and I’ve been drooling over this one for a while now. Winning one would be just be the cream cheese icing on my red velvet cake…totally AWESOME!
I would put it on our desk in our family room.
Not sure just where I would put it. But it would be safe and much loved. Probably in living room for all to enjoy. Love the idea of a touch-screen and really want to try it out, just can’t afford it. Oh well, can always hope and pray. Thanks for giving away chances.
I would put it in my kitchen… I hate wasting paper to print out my web recipes :)
Fingers crossed. This would make a nice family pc, particularly like the media options.
If I won this computer I would put it in my craft room/guest room so the kids(or hubs) can’t touch it! A computer all to myself…ahhh bliss :)
As I am entering on behalf of my fiancee I would imagine that he would put it somewhere that he could admire its shiny new screen. With a small apartment, it would probably live on our coffee table for now, but I am sure he would find some way to fit a desk in here…somewhere…
my email is biggreenfeet@yahoo.com
I would put it in the bedroom because that’s where the cable hookup is! It will fit just fine on the thriftstore desk!
In my daughters playroom!
I would put it in my living room!
Well, as much as I would like to hide that away for mommy use only, I would have to share it. If I could get the top for my extra Ikea desk, it could have a nice home in our messy office. Or, if I could clean out a space on the counter, it could live in the kitchen for all to see and admire!

I am almost 74 and winning this computer would be God sent. Some of my fingers are numb from the chemo I had a few years back and I also have arthritis. The touching part is what I would love about this HP.
If I am met to win I will and if not congratulation to the winner.
Nana Shirl
I would put the computer in my kitchen for cooking with “recipe box”.
Oh! This one would be mine! We have a dinosaur for the family, a newer HP compliments of the kids’ online school courses… and DH has his own laptop for work.
I’m an aspiring writer (aren’t we all… we bloggers?) and have been looking for my own digs for awhile.
Thanks!
:)
I would put this in my bedroom on the desk so I could use it both for work and extended bed-lounging. It would be amazing!
I would put it in my office, and I would love it!
I would LOVE this computer!
I’m not really one to complain or cry, woe is me, but the last few months have been so hard for my little family. My husband of six years, and father to my two children, left us after falling into a deep depression and turning to alcohol and drugs. He stole money and sold our posessions, including our computer. I had just started my first semester back in school here in Salt Lake City. Luckily, I work and was able to use my work computer for the rest of the semester. Next semester I am planning on continuing at Salt Lake Community College. Although I will still have access to my work computer I desparately need a computer at home in order to write my papers and study. I’m trying to stay focused on school as well as taking care of my two kids, Oscar and Marisol, who are four and five. They have both been struggling with the changes in our family and not having their father in their lives anymore. I’m sure they would LOVE playing on a new computer!
I know there are so many deserving people – I don’t envy your decision. Thank you and I hope you have a very Merry Christmas!
cmbrown82@msn.com
this would be perfect in my dining/breakfast/homeschool/art/sewing/pastry assembling/sausage stuffing (really! : )……. let’s just say it is a multi-purpose room!
I would replace my old HP in my living room. I like my computer central to everything for recipes and skype-ing and watching movies and letting the kids boogy down to music.
Heavens!! I would put it here on my desk where it would be the only thing not cluttering it up!
I would put it my laundry room/ office at the momente — and then redo my den for a place for my little man to use it so ALL could see what he’s viewing!
It’s so cute … I would put it in a different room every day.
I would put this in my family room.

https://www.boomama.net/hp-touchsmart-600-giveaway/ I want to win this computer!
I’d put it in my family room!! That way everyone in the family can use it, and I can keep an eye on what the kids are doing on it!
Where would we put our new HP Touchsmart? in the kitchen. It is our family’s favorite gathering place so it just makes sense that we would want our computer in a place that is accessable to everyone.
I think this computer would deserve its own NEW desk in the family room with LIMITEd access to the kiddos!! So way cool!! Merry Christmas
I would give my old computer to my grandkids and put this one right on my non thrift store desk.
I think inside mama’s closer where no one can touch it would be awesome! I’d totally get rid of all my husband’s clothes to make room for it. I’d say mine, but a girl has to look decent. LOL
For real, it would go in the living room on my desk with threat of chopped off fingers if someone touched it. Ok, I wouldn’t actually chop off their fingers.

okay….now that is seriously cool. :) It would definitely go in my ART studio. I dream of having a computer in there, thus eliminating the trips back and forth to the family room!!
I think mine would go bedside so I could blog in bed :)
I would set it up in my bedroom. I need to get rid of my bulky old desktop that takes up more than 1/2 of my desk. How sad.
I would put it in our little office so my husband could get his graphic design work off the ground.
I would put it in the living room and we could finally get rid of the ugly hutch our current (nearly useless) desk top model is because we would sooooo mount that sucker on the wall!
Oh, I so want one…my very own computer, where my husband doesn’t use it for fantasy football? Oh My!
I would put this in our little “office” room.
I would place it in our “nook” upstairs…it’s the perfect place for a mommy-getaway!!!!
I would put it in my bedroom – wouldn’t take up any room at all, and oh, how wonderful to have it right there when I needed it! Thanks for the giveawy!
Hey BooMama… I love your “about me” section and I’ll be back later to check out your blog… but for now, I want the computer! :) Love and hugs…
If I were lucky enough to win this, it would go into the family room, so everyone can enjoy it. Even though, secretly, I’d love to keep it all to myself… :)
My kitchen! I can watch tv… Look up recipes w/o having to run back and forth… Oh it would be amazing.
Ooooo! I think I would have to put this baby on the desk in the kitchen. That recipe feature sounds wonderful!
We’ve envisioned that ‘puter sitting on our desk that’s in the living room/dining room/office. Thank you so much for the opportunity. This would make our Christmas! The kids and I are writing a book together. What a help it would be…
Our desk thanks you too.
In our kitchen! It’s a perfect workstation for the room our family uses the most!
I would put it in the Living room so the whole family could enjoy it!
I would out this in my home office and use it to work on my school work, I am in college getting my teaching degree!! Great giveaway!!!
I would put this in our kitchen so the entire family can access it.

I would put this lovely computer in my basement. Our basement is the office/library/Photo studio/gaming area. My husband would really love this computer for making his comics.
Thanks for this!
Well, seeing as how my husband’s old computer just took a nose-dive, the Touchsmart would end up on his desk! :)
I would put this darling little thing in our dining room/ catch all room. We really need to use that room more. Ha!
Would LOVE to win this! Have an old Dell that should be serving the remainder of it’s life as a boat anchor b/c that is about all it’s good for!!! Maybe, just maybe I will win. BTW-LOVE your blog!!
I would put in my living room for the whole family to share.
If I had this computer, I’d put it in my room, just to be safe it wouldn’t get ruined by my niece or nephew, after they get how to use it, itd be in the family room
I will put this in the living room.
I will set the new HP up in my office where I blog the most.

woohoo 3 entries for me!!
20.
I am a college student. If I win it will be used to complete research papers. It will be in my dorm room.
I would love to have this, My son with special needs would love to be able to see everything up close!! It would go on his desk!
This beautiful baby would go in our family room so I could play delightfully all day with this HP TouchSmart 600 computer.
I would put it in the “hybrid” room, our office slash nursery so I could nurse the baby and surf the web at the same time!
I would put it in the family room – the middle of the house!
i can’t even begin to tell you what is going on in our house right now.. i need (want) a laptop… blake is getting old enough where he needs his own computer so he can get off of ours. so this would be So freaking handy to win… and in all honesty, i’d give it to the boy (not boyfriend)… so he could have an awesome computer. i still want a laptop and um, boyfriend can fend for himself. HAHAHA
oh yeah, it would go in our computer room!
I would love to trade my big old slow computer at school for a slim fast one. It would make work so much easier.
I would put on our kitchen counter where our now failing Dell from 2003 is living. We are planning to get a new computer the day after Christmas and I’d rather win one instead:)
I think I would put it in the Kitchen — we are always in there and like most homes is the hub of the house. Also, our under the counter TV recently died and we are looking for a replacement for that. The Calendar, Notes and of course the Recipe apps are perfectly suited for the Kitchen.
What a great Christmas gift!
I’d put it in my living room in my little office area!
*guffaw* No Way! You’re allowed to touch the screen??!! I remember the days when that was a no-no. I’d have a hard time keeping the kids from touching it anyway so it might as well go in the living/family room. Wonder if it would ever get passed the “novelty” phase so they’d leave it alone??
In our office…though I might let the kids come in and touch it once in awhile. :)
I’d put it in our living room. My fiance could happily play Farmville on his own computer and finally leave my MacBook alone!
I would keep mine out in the livingroom, or maybe my bedroom depending on how much studying I need to do for college.
I would put it in our kitchen where our ancient e-machine is currently sitting. :)
I would put it in the family room so that my brothers and sisters could use it.
I would put it in MY office. I am a foster/adopt mom of 7. I would organize all my kids schedules on the computer and get organized!!! Finally!!!! ( I can dream!)
It would definitely go in my living room. It’s beautiful!
I would put it on the desk in my office.
Next door at the big school room table at my dad’s house.
OMG! what a marvelous giveaway. I so want to win this and I would put it in my living room where I could keep an eye on it. OOOHHH…. what a dream come true that would be, so please, please enter me. Thank you, Linda
I’d put it on my husband’s great-grandfather’s desk. Old meets new!
I would put it near to the kitchen so I could easily use it when cooking… but would try and keep things clean!
Where would I put it???? That is a good question. Probably, in my beautiful office with french doors and a beautiful cherrywood desk that currently sits empty. It needs an hp badly!!:)
This computer would go in the music room! Thank you for such a great giveaway.
Blogged about it!!!
This computer looks like a Godsend. My laptop died a couple of weeks ago (Grr. I have pictures on it that I can’t get off now.). And I’m forced to work on this old, rundown, and tired PC.
I’d put the TouchSmart in my Scrap Room and replace this old thang.
Tiff
kitchen. no question.
for the kids to use while I’m cooking. or for me to use while my chef husband cooks FOR me. ;)
If I won, I would put it in our public sitting area.
I would put it in my kitchen, so I can make sure the kids don’t destroy it. Thanks for the giveaway and the review.
Oh….there really is a Santa…..I have been dreaming of one of these since I saw it on TV….My husband is an IT guy and it drives him CRAZY that I always touch my computer screen….I am a touchy/feely person…I can’t help myself…If I was the lucky winner…I would put it in my “office/craft/guest room and touch it every chance I got!!! I might even share it with my children, but deffinately NOT my husband!!!! {fingers and toes crossed}
I would put such an amazing looking piece of work in the living room; but perhaps it would also share a desk on my room- since sometimes I do like some privacy to work on my book. I think it looks great and even though I love my mini netbook- I wish I could have something better to work on. so for me would be living room/bedroom/anywhere it gets better lighting :)
If I win, I might put the hp in the kitchen.
I would put mine in my family room for the whole family to use.
If I won this computer I would put it in on our dinning room table (which is actually used not for dinner party’s but for my kids to do their craft projects). At the moment there is a laptop on the table that my special needs daughter (she has rett syndrome, you can check out our blog to learn more)is able to access via switches. The switches are nice but we only have 2 so she is limited in what she is able to do with the computer, a touch screen would open up a whole new (virtual) world for her and allow her much more access. Not to mention being a wonderful tool for my 2 other small children. Thanks for the opportunity! Blessings!
I would definitely put this in my room! My hubby and I could take advantage of the movie features and with a toddler running around, I would worry less! =) I’d love to win!!!!
Up in the bonus room. I would for sure by a new desk for it. The old desk up there has laminate peeling off and this beauty deserves to be showcased on something much better.
i would put it in my tv/office/scrapbooking room! it would be amazing for digital scrapbooking!
This computer is too cool!
I even tweeted about it: http://www.twitter.com/itsownterms
