Just Like The Snow When A Ray Of Sun Is Felt

It’s the strangest thing, but this song has been on my mind all day long.

The strangest thing.

Not to mention that this little nugget-o-wisdom is still running on repeat in my brain: “Love is more powerful than flying.”

Yes. Yes it is.

Anyway, I’ve decided to hold off on any sort of regular “Bachelor” re-caps for now. Don’t get me wrong: I want to write VERY LONG posts about it – but I feel like I need to see how the season pans out. And I’ll just leave it at that.

In other news, it’s supposed to snow in Birmingham Thursday, so I have been furiously checking our ABC station’s weather blog to see if they’ve gotten the graphics department in on the action yet. I’m thinking that by midday tomorrow we’ll be seeing either WINTER STORM ALERT ’10 or WINTER STORM WATCH ’10 all over our local news. Maybe even WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY ’10 – with a big piece of cracking ice in the background. IT MAKES ME SO HAPPY.

Since Alabama is playing Texas for the National Championship Thursday night, some people on one of our local sports radio shows have been VERY VOCAL INDEED that they will not – WILL NOT – tolerate any sort of local weather bulletin that interrupts the football game. They’re not kidding around. Because why does it matter if the roads are icy if the Tide is rollin’? I’d go so far as to say that if even a half a centimeter of the WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY ’10 graphic partially obscures the logo on Nick Saban’s shirt, ABC had better run for cover.

I mean, would Bear Bryant tolerate any sort of weather-related game-watching distractions? I THINK NOT.

Of course I’m cheering for Alabama in the game – it’s an SEC school playing for the National Championship, for heaven’s sake – and I’m curious: will you be cheering for either team? Or will you be hoping and praying for a “House Hunters” marathon on HGTV? And are any of y’all cooking a special menu for the game? We’ll definitely be eating tailgate food for supper at our house Thursday night.

IT’S THE RIGHT THING TO DO.

  1. Texas in Africa says:

I’ll be cheering for Texas, naturally. No menu since the local Texas Exes have managed to find some real brisket (as opposed to the sauce-drowned slop that us de rigeur around here. Bless their hearts, this corner of the South doesn’t realize that God intended for the meat to have its own flavor. They don’t know what they’re missing.) I can’t wait! Hook ’em Horns!!!

  2. another ut fan here too. and you are so right about the weather! it is only supposed to be frigidly cold here (melanie better wear 2 pair of her favorite socks!) but if they interrupt one single second, i’m emailing, texting and calling them all at the same time. i’m on at&t so i can do that, you know. hook’em horns!!

  3. ROLL TIDE!

Since my coach was made to retire a year before he wanted to, and I’m more than disappointed in the treatment of a Godly man who put our school on the map after they were going to shut down the football program the year before he came, and because Bear Bryant and Joe Paterno got more respect than Bobby Bowden has this last year, I’m thinking I may be an Alabama fan for more than just this bowl game.
DO Y’ALL HAVE ROOM FOR ONE MORE ON YOUR WAGON?

I cried more than a few tears during the Gator Bowl on New Years Day.

The best part though? Bobby Bowden’s quote at the post game press conference when asked if he was disappointed in leaving coaching after 57 years:
“You can’t take it with you. There are Things in life that are more important…. that’s why I’m at peace with myself. You can’t take it with you.”

btw… I’m going to go ahead and say I’m pointing at the brunette in the red dress (who brought the football and said God was the most important thing in her life) to be in the final rose ceremony. Amen.

  4. Elizabeth says:

Sophie, I love you….but, um, Hook ’em Horns!!!

  5. I watched that entire video.

And yes, I am a little ashamed of that.

    Roll Tide.

  6. Texas all the way!

I’m an Auburn fan so no way am I cheering for Bama!

  7. we’re texas natives in dallas–who also happen to be aggie fans–who say ROLL TIDE ROLL!! i’ve always, always been a Bama fan anyway…i have an aunt near there, so i never miss the chance to go to campus when i visit her! almost went to school there.

i found a Bama logo and made it my facebook profile picture for this week. i’m getting all manner of trash talk from my friends, but we’ll see who gets the last laugh on thursday!!

and oh yes we’re having a special dinner…deep south dinner night! fried chicken, mashed potatoes, cole slaw, sweet tea, pecan pie…

i canNOT wait! i’m so excited!

  8. Hook ’em Horns

While normally I am an OSU fan, since Ohio State already took out Oregon in the Rose Bowl and no other Big Ten school is in the national game, I have to go with Texas. I abhor Nick Saban.

  9. Roll Tide, sadly, roll Tide. I’m just sad my beloved Gators aren’t in the title match, but will be cheering on the SEC! :-)

  10. Oh my goodness. I was only worried about the power going out until just now. If they interrupt to talk about the weather, I’ll just die! We all know it could be bad, so just stay off the roads already! I agree – they better not interrupt at all!!!

I went to Alabama – Roll Tide – and I would be in Pasadena if I could. :)

  11. ROLL TIDE!!! My father-in-law is a huge fan and going through a VERY rough time lately so I’m praying for a win to give him a happy distraction.

  12. We will most definitely be cheering for the Tide, assuming we have power and can watch it.

My menu consists of sliders and nachos. My hubby called me out for being so creative to have beef when we’re playing the Longhorns. Ummm, yeah. My thought process for that menu was that I bought 6 lbs of ground chuck last week and I had a pack of rolls in the freezer; the Longhorn reference never crossed my mind. But I just let him believe that I am totally on top of the football mascot analogies. :)

  13. Courtney says:

    ROLL TIDE ROLL!

  14. But in Burmingham is it like it is Columbia, SC? Where they talk about it all day and track any activity by breaking in every five minutes? If it is, then I sort of understand the Bama fans being on the offensive.

Last year, we had a WINTER STORM of 09 snafu where the forecasters were calling for several inches. They talked about it for days. School was cancelled, businesses closed. Not one flake fell. Not one.

It is so hard for me to cheer for Nick Saban, but I will be cheering for Alabama since they are an SEC team.

  15. forget football… I want more insight into the most RIDICULOUS season opener of a show ever. I tuned into the bachelor (mostly because so many blogs I read are obsessed) only to find myself hiding under a chair for 2 hours out of pure embarassment for these girls. c’mon boo mama, gimme more!

  16. Being an Aggie, I completely go for whoever is playing tu. I will be supporting the TIDE the whole way. To borrow (and clean up) an Aggie yell (because we don’t do cheers or have cheerleaders, we have Yell leaders)”BEAT THE HECK OUTTA tu!” Whoop!

  17. When I heard those words come out of his mouth I thought, “That’s the title of Boo Mama’s next post……”
I kinda squirmed through the whole thing, didn’t you?!

  18. I’m an A&M Aggie by heart but I definitely support Texas. Hook Em Horns!I cheerfully support your decision to support your homestate as well…may the best team win.

  19. Bama…even though we’re Tennessee fans so it pains me a little to say it. But, we love SEC football and want an SEC team to be #1.

The Bachelor…I haven’t watched a season since Trista. Yes, that was a long time ago. My kids are home from college so we all got sucked in. I heard somewhere this was going to be a more family friendly season…hmmm….the preview do not suggest that but we’ll see.

  20. I love your winter weather hopes! Today, we’re getting 3-5 inches of snow by 5pm!
    Yay!
So looks like a day off or a delay in the morning for school!

    Good luck SEC football lover!

  21. Well, I am a tennessee fan (ahem), but I’ll still be cheering for the Tide come Thursday. Because the SEC? Totally deserves the win!

  22. UGA girl pulling for Alabama! I’m married to a UF fan, and couldn’t have been more pleased when Alabama beat Florida for the SEC championship.

My girls left a ROLL of toilet paper and a bottle of TIDE on our front porch to greet their Gator Daddy when he got home from watching the game with friends. It was priceless!

  23. Fight TEXAS! Ha ha, i have been singing that song and my son said “mom, why do you keep singing that?”

  24. In our Houston Texas house….it’s Longhorns all the way :)

  25. I ABHOR burnt orange. I am sure God never meant for it to be worn, or on cars for that matter.

We are having crack dip, wings, and mini calzones. When else can one eat party food on a Thursday night : )

    Roll Tide!

  26. As an LSU fan, it is very difficult for me to pull for ‘Bama, but pull I will! SEC football is what I’m talking about. The Tide will dominate Texas (Florida would have, too!)

  27. More Aggies here, I’m afraid. And since they couldn’t get their act together AGAIN this year, we’re pullin’ for the TIDE. If ut wins again this year, there’ll be no livin’ with ’em. I love what Julie just said about burnt orange. Must be the ugliest color that a team could come up with!

As for the Bachelor, my daughter called me last night after being glued to the TV for 2 hrs and said, “Mom, all of those girls are such HO’s – none of them are worthy of Jake! He’s such a nice guy! He needs ME!”

  28. Roll Tide Roll!!

  29. It’s a bitter bitter pill for a Vol fan, but I am cheering for the Tide on Thursday. God love the SEC (and the real UT -and the real orange- citrus not burnt)

  30. I’m an Auburn fan, but I WILL be yelling ROOOOOOOLL TIDE, fo sho!

I think our Spann the Man is playing it down because of the old game. Mark and I were laughing last night when he said “only” 1-2 inches. WHAT? A mere dusting usually sends us into a tailspin for days prior! :D

Oh well. We love him for it! He knows his priorities. ;)

  31. I love all of your writings…especially your Caroline stories. I wanted to thank you for being a great example to me…as a blogger and a woman of God.

    I gave you a little award. :)
    http://adorkable-me.blogspot.com/2010/01/one-with-winter-lemonade.html

  32. I’m sure James Spann is still on his perpetual search for Why We Hit the Stores for Milk and Bread in these Blast O Winter times! I will be pulling for Alabama, because I’m proud for the players and I live here, after all, but seriously, the Alabama fans in my town are the type fans who make you hate Alabama. They are each personally responsible for every. Alabama. success. I will be able to walk out on my front porch game night (in a Parka, no less) and hear from a mile away the cheering. Seriously. I’m not joking. And they look down their noses at me for daring to be a fan of any other team (go State!). Seriously! It’s a little sad.

  33. that was totally lame of me. I gave this award to Melanie @ BigMama too…and I apologize for copying and pasting…with Caroline’s name there it was kind of a give away. Sorry!

But seriously, thank you for being a great inspiration to me!

  34. ROLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL TIDE, of course!!!!

  35. SEC! SEC! I’m a life long Gamecock fan and on behalf of Gamecocks everywhere we apologize for our EMBARASSING loss on Saturday. I will most certainly be rooting for the Elephants on Thursday!

  36. I’m in Birmingham too. Isn’t it funny that poor James is getting threatened with bodily harm if he interrupts THE game?? But seriously, do we need to hear that it’s snowing??? Who’s going to be on the streets anyway with THE game on? Roll Tide all the way! Can’t wait!!

  37. As an Auburn graduate, I cannot ethically cheer for Alabama. I would be run out of my religion on a rail!!! However, I will cheer for an SEC win…even if I refuse to say their name out loud!

  38. Hook ‘Em Horns!!!!

  39. I plan to watch at least some of the game. I’ll pull for Texas, just because I live here, not because of any strong rooting interest (and in fact should not be cheering for UT, since my FIL is an Aggie, but whatever). I hope it is a good game, after all the hype and buildup and interminable bowl season.

  40. HOOK EM HORNS!!!!!! Both of us graduated from UT and we cannot wait for the game! As for The Bachelor, I got sucked in because I found out that a young lady I had in my 10th grade small discipleship group is one of the contestants. Let’s just say my prayer life is on overdrive! : ) She is lovely and I hope they don’t eat her alive!

  41. Roll Tide. I would cheer for anyone playing Texas. Plus once we played Bama in basketball – a long time ago in the NCAA tourney – I loved their mascot. Which is the real determining factor for me and sports teams. Dinner – beef is what’s for dinner. And snow – seriously, I hope we get every inch of the 5 that are called for here in the frozen tundra of the midwest. Love the snow!

  42. Roll Tide all the way!!

I love our man Spann too though!
Hunkering down for Winter Weather Watch 10!! Ha Ha!! You are so right about the cheesy graphics!! Can’t wait to see what it is!!

    Roll Tide Roll from Trussville!!

  43. How funny that they are being so vocal about the weather advisory! But I completely understand…they always seem to interrup during the best parts! We will be cheering for Alabama…mainly because they are an SEC team and the SEC is the best college football conference ever!

  44. Oh my — Alabama of course! Putting together some dips, some great cheese bread and probably a BIG pot of chili.

And I too love a winter storm graphic! You know they just wait for the threat to come so they can roll out a new graphic.

And WoL (it’s my acronym for The Bachelor)oh my! I did love his response to priorities — God, family, friends — but I’m withholding judgment at this point. But I do some more great stuff happening….. oh, the level of crazy is wonderful on this season…. just wonderful!

  45. My husband is a Cub Scout leader and he had a meeting scheduled for Thursday night. Yesterday he started getting e-mails about “Are you REALLY having a meeting Thursday night? The game is Thursday.” And my husband was very confused.

He sent out an e-mail to the den saying (I kid you not), “I’m rescheduling our meeting for one night next week. There’s some sort of game on Thursday that people want to watch.”

So I suppose you can tell that our 42-inch flat screen TV will not be living out its destiny on Thursday night … even though we’re in Birmingham, we’re not sports fans, so we probably won’t watch the game. I WOULD still be very excited for the Tide if they win, though, just because I know it’s a Really Big Deal and all that. ;)

  46. I have no vested interest in the game but in honor of a very good friend I have to say…

    ROLL TIDE ROLL

  47. We’ll be going for the SEC team as well in our household. We are GATORS! but if we couldn’t be in THE game, then at least an SEC team should win it.
    Hugs!

  48. I do NOT get the SEC love fest! I live in Oklahoma, therefore a BIG 12 fan, but there is NO WAY ON GOD’S GREEN EARTH that I would ever ever EVER cheer for Texas!!! That’s just plain old BLASPHEMY. Like when the Oklahoma Bachelor girl did the hook ’em horns the other night! UGH!!! She should not be allowed back into Norman after that display of inhumanity. Roll Tide!!

  49. I’m a Texas (just in general, I actually prefer A&M over UT) girl married to an Ole Miss (sorry! know you’re a State gal) guy so we will be rootin’ for Alabama.

    Go SEC!

    Andrea

  50. I’m a Razorback — I’ll be cheering loudly for Alabama. Of course, a little of my enthusiasm for Alabama isn’t just SEC love, it’s a holdover from the SWC when we HATED Texas. ROLL TIDE.

  51. Although we live smack dab in the middle of Texas, we will most certainly NOT be cheering for the Longhorns. I grew up in Louisiana cheering for the Tigers so I will be cheering for the SEC team of Alabama. Although, I must admit, that may get my Geaux card revoked because you know that LSU fans never wanted to see Saban win another single game – NO, NOT ONE – after he left us high and dry. Lol…

If the alternative is to cheer for the burnt orange, I’m screaming Roll Tide all the way, my friend. All the stinkin’ way.

  52. As much as I do not like Nick Saban, I will still watch the game and root for the Tide. SEC baby, SEC!

  53. ROLL TIDE, BABY! I live in Huntsville and we are expecting snow as well. I had not even thought about the weather alert interrupting the game; but, you are right! The Huntsville weather folks LOVE an opportunity to strut their stuff and all I’ve got to say is they had better not interupt the game or there will be HECK to pay!

  54. Oh, I’m so happy you’ll be cheering for Bama! ROLL TIDE!

  55. Got Bama?
    :) Roll Tide Roll
I’m a Jawja girl with Alabama roots. I think all of my Bama relatives are taking vacation days on Friday! It’s that serious y’all!

  56. We are tried and true Bama fans at our Madison house, so we will definitely be yelling “Roll Tide”!!!!! You might be able to hear us all the way down in Birmingham!
And that certain sports commentator has my husband stressing about our TV going out during the game! So we have plans to go to my parents’ house to watch it because they have Knology, not satellite. Aren’t we so funny to worry about things like that?

  57. I am having serious moral dilemma about who to cheer for. I’m an LSU fan and generally would NEVER and I mean NEVER utter the words “roll tide”. But my husband is an Oklahoma fan and we’ve been teaching our kids the “horns down” sign since infancy. I think I’ll just watch and cheer whenever either team makes a bad play. Is that legal?

  58. ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!! We’ll be watching and cheering the Tide from Dothan, AL! Bring home the trophy boys!!!

  59. ROLL TIDE!!!
I will be extremely happy when they win! I wouldn’t even buy my son a burnt orange shirt (didn’t even have a TX logo on it) Can’t find anything for Alabama in Houston.

  60. This may be my favorite post ever of yours!

Jox 94.5? I about died laughing yesterday listening to them discuss not tolerating weather alerts during the game! I have to say I agree….. I am a Vermont girl so all the hoopla over the “snow” is comical.

With the snow predicted to start in the afternoon, I am wondering when the school closing chaos will begin here in the Birmingham area?

ROLL TIDE for me! We are going to friends to watch the game and having a “Dip Party”, all manner of dips on the menu including one called Buffalo Chicken Dip, which I have never had but I can’t wait to try it!

Also, today in Alabama it is Mark Ingram Day!

  61. I’m a UT fan all the way. HOOK ‘EM HORNS! But seriously, may the best team win, because I’m really just there for the Championship party. There are nachos and wings involved, how could I stay away?

    (Love the blog!)

  62. Roll Tide! I live a little “west” of you, and you can fill the excitement about the game in the air (can you guess where I live?). I am hoping the power stays on if there is snow. The cold has already caused power outages this morning. Yikes. P.S. I always cheer for the SEC, even when it hurts!

  63. SEC ALL THE WAY BABY!!!!!!!!!

  64. You’re allowed to not blog about the Wings of Love run but please know that part of me has died. =) I appreciate the show’s amazing quotes so much more when they become your blog post title. I even jabbed my husband during this episode and said, “That’s it! That’s the line she’ll use for her title!” I suppose you’re allowed to do whatever you see fit with your own blog. Sadness has rolled in just like The Tide.

  65. I’ll definitely be cheering our beloved HORNS onto a victory! We’re also supposed to get extremely cold temperatures here in Austin, so we might be having the exact same problems as y’all on the tv.

Texas girls gotta have queso, so that’s the main dish for our party! :)

  66. SEC all the way, Baby!!!!

  67. The game. The stupid game. The game that I took my husband to the airport this morning to go to. The game that I spent an hour of my life THAT I WILL NEVER GET BACK hitting the refresh button on Ticketmaster to try to beat the system and get tickets to (and I did). The game that, if won by Alabama, will cause years and years of “we have 13 national championships” and “2010 was Alabama’s finest year” and “we won a national championship game AND had a heisman trophy winner all at the same time”….

UGH. Here’s best case scenario for me. Alabama wins (for the SEC) but then the Lord shuts their mouths like the lions with Daniel and they can’t say a WORD about it.

And I may or may not be wearing my Texas hat that I bought in San Antonio during the game.

It’s killing me. It’s like what you would be feeling if Ole Miss were playing in this game. It’s painful.

  68. I love that song so much. And we did it in our choral pops concert in 1985. Oh yes we did. And yes…I still have the music at my house. Because that’s how I roll, yo.

  69. ROLL TIDE, friend! So excited to be leaving the frigid temps of Birmingham! Getting ready to board a plane so that I can cheer my team on live and in person. Hope you’re able to watch it too!!

    Stay warm!!

  70. You know that’s the song that Dwight plays on his recorder at the bird funeral in the Dunder Mifflin parking lot, right?

  71. We are Georgia born, but lived in Austin for 5 years, so it’s Hook ’em at our house =). I’m not sure what we’ll be eating, but if I was made of money, it would be a brisket shipped from the Salt Lick. Yummy!

  72. My hubby and I are both Bama grads and HUGE Bama fans. We are having a viewing party at our house tomorrow night and the weather better not mess it up. (I have to get my kids to the grandparents’ house first.) Nothing too exciting on the menu except for that yummy buffalo chicken dip and pizza.

  73. ROLL TIDE ! ! ! ! I will be pulling for Alabama in a big and huge way! Thank you for asking! And ROLL TIDE again!

  74. Danielle says:

Hate Alabama, but will cheer for them since they are SEC. Only time I will ever say this, “Roll Tide.”

  75. Longtime reader checking in….

    HOOK ‘EM HORNS!

    \\m//

….but I will always root for the SEC when we are not playing!

  76. As a life long GATOR living in Texas I will be rooting for ‘Bama out of SEC loyalty and because I am so tired of all the Longhorns thinking they deserve this ’cause they missed out last year.

I would have so loved a Florida-Texas match up. No doubt Tebow and company would crush Colt and ‘Horns. I have had people stop me more than once when wearing a Gator shirt to tell me that UT would have beat the Gators last year except they were unfairly left out of the game! I think that if the same ‘Bama team that beat Florida in the SEC championship game shows up, then UT is toast!

It’s interesting that most of us SEC fans are pulling for ‘Bama, but the Big 12 folks are not pulling for UT. Lots more conference loyalty in the SEC. Roll Tide and GO GATORS!

  77. We are a football family! All the boys – every single cousin, has or does play (one even coaches!) football. We live on opposite coasts but the east coast cousins just landed an hour ago for the annual pilgrimmage to warm weather. They wanted to be able to catch at leas tone bowl game with us (seriously – the vacay was scheduled so we could all wathc the the nat’l champ’shp together!) I think that no one could care any care any less about who wins…we’re Marylanders and Californians. But we’ll be watching pregame starting at 1 and devouring the entire game. It better be a good one – no blow outs! And the food! Holy cow the food! I think we’re the cause of a temporary cream cheese shortage in SoCal! It’s gonna be a blast! Y’all have fun too!!

  78. Jennifer hornsby says:

    ROLL TIDE!!!!
my hubby and I met at and graduated from Alabama. We live in Tuscaloosa again now too! Can’t wait to see the game. No tailgate food here though unless I get a wild hair to go to the store. :-)

  79. I have always been a die-hard, bleed red & black UGA Dawg, but married a die hard Bama fan. This year has been sooo exciting in Bama ball, I feel like donning a crimson sweatshirt, almost. But yes, I’ll be cheering for The Sarge’s big ole elephants Thursday night. ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!

  80. We will be a house divided Thursday evening here in Texas! I like UT and my husband will be voting for anyone other THAN UT! It’s always good fun though!

  81. I’m with Carolyn. I’m a Razorback, so I’ll be cheering for the SEC team and hating Texas. I am pretty sure ‘Bama is going to roll right over those Longhorns. And sadly, we are probably going to have the weather crawl across our screen the entire game, for we are expecting some nasty winter weather and single-degree temperatures. I’m all about snow and a few snow days here and there, but if I wanted weather like this, I’d move to Alaska!

  82. Hmm, ‘Bama or UT? ‘Bama or UT? I’m a Big 12 fan, but I’d “Sooner” root for a hangnail than root for UT. ROLL TIDE!

  83. What is this SEC you speak of?? And this Bryant guy . . . is he some distant relative of a man named Lombardi?

I live in Green Bay Packer country, baby! No college ball up here (unless it’s Wisconsin with Bucky Badger for the mascot).

Just had to get in a little cultural diversity here.

  84. Oh, we’ll be watching alright, though there will be no festivities to go along with. It’s just that if it’s got “football” in the title, then the TV will be tuned to it. And I will be rolling my eyes. I’m just done with it all once MY team is done. We’re Hog fans around here. Actually WENT to the Liberty Bowl last weekend like a bunch of crazies!! It was the coldest I’ve EVER been in. my. life! (And it was a terrible game, despite the win.) Anyway, y’all enjoy!

  85. Jen Griffin says:

    Sophie –

I’ll be cheering for Colt and the Longhorns!!

    Hook ‘Em!!

    Jen in Jax

    P.S. Don’t Tell Big Mama!

  86. Can I just step up on the soap box for a moment and talk about ALL of the pop-up’s CONSTANTLY on the dang t.v!
Does it annoy the ba-jeeb-us out of anyone else? Cause it drives me absolutely crazy, and the “duration” seems to be getting longer to…now they post their “ad’s” for shows weeks/months in advance.
    I think I should start a petition! :)
oh, and sorry, not a football girl, except for the super bowl, then just cause I like the party and food :)

  87. We’ll be cheering on the Tide at our house in Texas! My husband and I both graduated from Ole Miss but I’m an Alabama girl at heart, born and raised. We will for sure be eating tailgating food for dinner. Like you said, “it’s the right thing to do!

    ROLL TIDE ROLL!

  88. I have to say we will most definitely be watching the game, and having all manner of delicious and artery clogging foods.

    Hook ’em horns!!

  89. Well that’s a bummer…I came here specifically for your Bachelor Recap…I knew you of all bloggers would have some thoughts on those crazy, emotional girls who cry on the first night for who knows what reason. Wow! They scare me. Oh well…if you change your mind…and decide to blog about it…give me a shout out. I’d like to hear what you have to say…Until then…I’ll just wonder…ha!
    Share His Love,
    Faithful

  90. As I bleed, BLEED I tell you, orange, I must cheer on my beloved Horns.

….. But, since part of family is from Notasulga, I have to say I’m not at all sad to see the Tide on the other end of the field.

That being said, “Hook ’em Horns!”

  91. must be a southern thing, this college football mania. I have absolutely no idea what you all are talking about and I know of no one either who follows this like you all do. What fun I must be missing??

  92. i SO need you to blog about the bachelor! you are so hilarious and so many times when i am watching it i think “oh, i can’t wait to see what sophie says about that!”

  93. I’m just popping in to say that 1) I downloaded that song from iTunes) so I could 2) properly sing it at karaoke. It did not get NEARLY the fan response that “Your So Vain” gets.

  94. We will be a family of burnt orange tomorrow night. My two year old is practicing her “hook em” fingers and we are ready to go!
I have not made solid menu plans but I believe it will involve a can of chili, lots of cheese, a crock pot and a bag of Tostito’s scoops.
My husband is in the Air Force, has been TDY for over a week, and is set to arrive home 2 hours before kick-off. If the weather keeps him too long on a C-130 without access to the game, I’m going to have a very unhappy UT fan on my hands! Hopeing for clear weather here in Abilene!

  95. In Ohio were still talking about our huge win over those Ducks in the Rose Bowl!! But, we’ll be rooting for Texas tomorrow night. Our 9 year old was born at Ft.Hood and is a huge fan! HOOK EM HORNS!!!

  96. SEC, baby. Plus, we just generally loathe Texas. ;)

  97. Hook em Horns!

  99. Tammy H. says:

My husband says that he would pull for the Taliban if they were playing Alabama! We are Auburn fans and would love nothing more than a loss for the Crimson Tide! We’ll have a house full of Auburn grads yelling – Hook ’em Horns! We do pull for all other SEC teams. :)

  100. TEXAS FIGHT!
