Over the years I’ve prepared just about every imaginable breakfast food.
We’ve gone through phases with certain cereals, oatmeal, bagels, English muffins, cinnamon toast, cheese grits, eggs, orange rolls – and a whole host of other things.
And while we’ve certainly enjoyed all of those foods – maybe even gotten in a little bit of a rut with them – there has been one breakfast food that has never, ever been out of the rotation for very long. Because it never, ever lets us down. And it never, ever fails to delight.
Everybody say it with me: bacon.
Oh, we LOVE the bacon.
And no matter what kind of morning it is – rushed, relaxed, peaceful, cuckoo – the bacon always makes us smile. It is, for me, the smell of home, and while maybe that’s a little too revealing in terms of my family’s fondness for fried pork products, it’s true. When I smell bacon cooking on the stove, I’m instantly transported to my grandmother’s kitchen and to my mother’s kitchen, to a less-hectic time when a hot breakfast was always the order of the day.
So while there are a lot of breakfast foods that we could probably live without if we had to, there’s definitely one that we would miss with everything in us if it happened to disappear. We’re in this breakfast thing with bacon for the long haul, and if it ever tries to leave us, well, we will hunt it down and write it letters and beg it to return.
So that we can fry it up and eat it.
The end.

Used to be cereal… until I gave up on milk. Now I think it would have to be waffles. Although they’re usually not eaten in the morning around here… ;) Waffles are just so yummy!
I always eat Special K cereal with strawberries and soymilk. I never get tired of it. It’s just so delicious!
A large cup of coffee and granola bar! The best..
Bagels are a favorite around here.
Biscuits and gravy with sausage….Mmmmm!

My daughter is an extremely picky eater but you can’t go wrong with waffles and bananas!!
Oatmeal – Oatmeal never lets me down!
Love instant grits and bacon.
love my grits!
Scrambled eggs. Nothing better than eggs with lots of cheese and fresh ground pepper. Simple but yummy.
Banana with natural crunchy peanut butter on top of butter which is all on top of homemade rye bread! 2 slices with coffee and a giant glass of freezing cold fat-free (haha!)milk gets me thru the day!
Cereal. But sorry, it’s usually Kashi.
Cereal for kids and I and meat for my husband! :-)
We have an 8 month old little boy and for the past 8 months we have not gone a day without coffee and french vanilla creamer! It’s a breakfast necessity!
Poptarts!!! Kids love them and they are quick to fix for on the go

Breakfast staples include a variety of cereals and fresh fruit. I make blueberry pancakes ahead of time and freeze them so they can be chosen for breakfast any morning
Granola bars are GREAT for breakfast on the go and everyone loves them. Give them a single serve of OJ and a package of bars and you are good to go, even when running late!

Bacon never lets me down
I LOVE biscuits and gravy!! YUM If I could, I would eat it 3x a day.
Bacon. Anytime. With anything.
Cinnamon rolls hot out of the oven! Yummmmy!
Tea. It doesn’t matter what I eat, but if there’s no tea, it’s not a good breakfast. :D
It’s bacon for us too. We lived in Muslim countries for 9 years, where it was available but not easily and REALLY expensive, and therefore a rare treat for Christmas and birthdays. We just feel any breakfast is just a bit better with bacon.
Milk–on cereal or straight-up in a glass. Just kind of eases me into waking up. Good old milk.
French toast, it’s a people pleaser in this household!

Eggs, scrambled, fried, hard boiled. It is a staple.

Donuts and chocolate milk if we have them or poptarts if we don’t.
Granola is our family staple. Sometimes we just pour some soymilk over it and have granola cereal. Or we mix it up in our yogurt with some fruit and make a yogurt parfait. It is also delicious on ice cream (but not for breakfast though!).
It has to be eggs!
PANCAKES!!!!!
without fail, cereal

So many things come to mind, but when I have a good breakfast cake around (like my homemade apple cake) it is never a letdown. It’s fast, ready and delicious.
The breakfast that never lets me down is milk, cereal, and fresh fruit.
Cereal and milk – and toast if we’re lucky enough to a little extra time.
