Linky Goodness

– These vintage computer ads made me laugh so hard. Oh, TRS-80 – we had some good times. Good times. (via Throwing Things)

– I mentioned Sandra McCracken’s song called “Thy Mercy, My God” over on AllAccess a month or so ago, and I still cannot get it out of my head. I mean, look at these lyrics (perfect for anytime, but even more meaningful during Lent, I think):

Thy mercy, my God, is the theme of my song,
The joy of my heart and the boast of my tongue;
Thy free grace alone, from the first to the last,
Hath won my affections, and bound my soul fast.

Without Thy sweet mercy I could not live here;
Sin would reduce me to utter despair;
But, through Thy free goodness, my spirits revive,
And He that first made me still keeps me alive.

You can listen here. I don’t know how in the world it took me ten years to find this song.

– I loved Tsh’s post about being “Called to the Crazy.” (via Annie, I think, but now I can’t find the place where Annie recommended the post, so oh well)

Travis has a new website, and IT. LOOKS. GREAT.

– If you’ve been watching Survivor: Redemption Island, you’ll enjoy reading Jeff Probst’s take on last night’s episode. And just for the record, I still giggle whenever I think of this:

“…but is it in the interest of Phillip Sheppard and company, who came to play a game a make some bold moves?”

And on that note, I’m gonna settle in and watch the SEC basketball tournament. LSU and Vandy are playing, and since the winner plays the Bulldogs tomorrow night, I’m just a smidge interested in the outcome. And also excited about having an excuse to clap and yell at the TV a little bit.

Hope y’all have a great Friday!

  1. Oh BooMama I don’t know whether to tell you to yell for or against LSU… On the one hand, one of my dear High School friends is one of the Athletic Directors there, and as much I like him, I (as a Texas A&M grad, Whoop!) just have a tough time cheering for the Tigers under any circumstances. And plus, I am just not a fan of the purple and gold!
    But I say go with your heart!

  2. Oh Survivor, how I love thee.

  3. Cute outfit on #26.

  4. I LOVE March Madness, and I really love the SEC! Can’t believe we won’t be able to watch our KY Wildcats tomorrow, since we are in AZ. The home of the wrong wildcats. Go Big Blue and go SEC!

  5. Oh Philip Sheppard, you are FANTASTIC!!! I give you the “Sheppard Stamp!!!”

    We live in the MIddle East and have to watch Survivor on the internet. It is slow, patchy, and pauses every few seconds sometimes… but SOO WORTH IT!!!

    Bye bye Russell!

    Wish we could get NCAA games! We are UK Wildcats!!!

  6. My NMSU Aggies won last night but that may be their only win in the tournament. I have been a fan for about 30 years and they make it harder and harder to be a fan every year…but GO AGGIES!

  7. I just relating my TRS-80 experience with our tech guy two days ago! I don’t know if you had the cassette tape adapter that allowed you to play some very serious tomb raiding games. The fact that I was never actually able to make it into the tomb should not make you doubt my computer prowess today (or maybe it’s just that Windows 7 is a bit easier to navigate than the TRS-80). Thanks for the throw backs!

  8. The picture of that girl holding the tape player talking to the boy holding the typewriter, awesome. And, a computer system for under $18,000? What a deal!

    Thanks for the links and LOVE the song!

  9. My friends may be connoisseurs of wine and food. I am a Connoisseur of reality TV. Phillip Sheppard is caviar and champagne in the world of Reality TV. Oh Sophie, the pink underwear alone… and the Gorilla and Lion tattoos… and when someone refers to themselves in third person- my friend it is gourmet reality TV.

  10. Mary Kat's Mom says:

    Oh M.K. has had the privilege to sing “Thy Mercy, My God” on the praise team at our church and we didn’t know that song until she was given the lyrics! ! ! Love it! I can hear her voice singing it now in my heart and it is a sweet thought! Thanks and Happy Spring Break!

  11. I feel like a friend, who hasn’t stopped by in too long of a time!! So I am bringing some fresh muffins and diet coke…and a hug and smile!

    I like your Thesis theme! It is a nice clean look, too.

    Love you, friend. Miss you! And will be back more often–now that I have gathered more of my brain together to focus. It has been quite a couple of months…
