In Which I Hit The Links

I got the biggest kick out of reading your comments about where you live. I laughed out loud a bunch and teared up a few times, too (Wendy B’s comment really got me). So thanks for sharing, y’all – you brightened my day.

All righty. Here are a few links I’ve been meaning to post.

– These vintage cell phone commercials cracked me up (via MM).

– I have two giveaways going on right now: Seattle’s Best Coffee ($100 Amazon gift card) and Slim-Fast ($100 Slim-Fast prize pack).

– This Cover Tune Grab Bag video from Mercy Me just DELIGHTED me. So fun.

– My friend Carol’s post about how her two boys with Cerebral Palsy have exceeded all expectations made my heart smile and encouraged me as a mama.

– My husband loves The Jimmy Fallon Show. And this past Sunday night, when D was catching up on the DVR, we laughed and laughed at Stephen Colbert’s rendition of “Friday.” It’s silly, and I wouldn’t watch it with our eight year-old, but if you’re a grown-up, you’ll appreciate the old-school Letterman-esque humor.

– Last week Ann wrote a post called “How To Make & Take A Peace Retreat.” When I saw the title I assumed she was talking about packing bags and books and traveling to some remote destination. But when I read the post, I quickly realized that she was talking about how to take a peace retreat right where we are. Love it.

i have just wasted 45 minutes watching Mercy Me and their Cover Tune Grab Bag songs. Thanks!

  2. I have to admit, in relation to your last bullet, when I read that you were “hitting the links” I got tickled to read on and see you out on the golf course.

Apparently, that is the complete opposite direction from where today’s post was headed. Oh well :)

  3. Ok, Ann’s peace retreat is an amazing reminder to me that I need to do this for my boys, and more often for myself too. What a gift to teach them that type of retreat when things are too much is the exact, perfect place to go. My three year old already carries a small bible wherever he goes, I should create a place for him to go and find peace with it.

Oh and Stephen Colbert is simply hilarious. Thanks for sharing!

  4. That Mercy Me video is ridiculous. And fantastic. And wonderful.

  5. I have watched the Colbert/Fallon video like 40 times. It is just beyond absurd and surreal.

Gurl- are you watching Glamour Belles on Lifetime? I know Idol is just now over- but you must watch this…you “know” these people! I heart the south!!!

Hahahahaha! Boomama, when I read the title to this post I thought you decided to take up golf this fine spring! I thought, “Well good for her! My husband has been wanting me to do that for a long time. Golf. She could sport a really cute visor, I bet.” Oh well. The other links were good too. :)

  8. I LOVED Mercy Me’s Cover turne grab bag of Hey ya! hahaha!

  9. Thank you so much for the link to Peace Retreat. I so needed to be grounded. We are facing lay-offs at work (tomorrow morning as a matter of fact). We don’t know who – just that it’s happening.

I have been so worried and anxious. I haven’t remembered to leave it with Jesus. Just reading that post gave me peace. I am breathing easier. My headache is going away.

I will face tomorrow with my head held high and know that I’ve done my best – no matter what happens.
