Liza Minnelli Tries To Turn Off A Lamp

I didn’t see Saturday Night Live this past weekend because our DVR decided to take a vacation.

But yesterday on the Twitter, Jennifer tweeted the link to this sketch.

OH, it tickled me. I was smack dab in the middle of a day where I had approximately six free minutes, but I’m so glad that I used three and a half of those minutes to watch this delightfulness.

Does anybody else think it’s as funny as I do? Or do I just have a strange sense of humor?

Well, I know I have a strange sense of humor.

But is anybody strange with me?

(OH, I HOPE SO.)

(There’s strength in numbers, you know.)

  1. How did they keep straight faces?:)

  2. “Will a Fosse neck do it?” O my heck. You are not alone dear. Not alone at all.

  3. Oh, Kristin Wiig! I love her so. I still say at random moments, “Oh, don’t make me sing!” and NO ONE EVER GETS IT.

  4. Just watched, and I am thoroughly tickled!

  5. I thought the funniest part was the random stage hand’s arm appearing at 02:30. Love Wiig, but didn’t quite get this one.

  6. Another perk of living in Europe – the dreaded “we’re sorry, but this video is unavailable in your area.” I think they only choose the funny clips to restrict, because it seems like I can watch all the depressing stuff unrestricted.

  7. I got tickled with her counting out the foot taps.

  8. Oh, that was so funny! I enjoyed it!

  9. My DVR did record it, and it was the only thing I laughed at during the whole show. And I couldn’t explain why I was laughing so hard to my husband. In my head I realize it’s probably not that funny. But it cracked me up.

  10. I’ve watched it again – my favorite was “Will a Fosse neck do it?”

  11. This delighted me to no end. It reminded me of a Carol Burnett skit from yesteryear.

I cannot help thinking about Liza and that weird wedding where Elizabeth Taylor, Michael Jackson and Bubbles the monkey were her attendants.

  12. “Will a Fosse neck do it?!” – GENIUS.

I giggle like a fool at this. I’m so glad you enjoyed it as much as I did. For some reason, when I saw it, I thought “This has Boo Mama written all over it” :)

  13. Lacey C. says:

    That. Was. Hilarious.

  14. Becky in 'Bama says:

“Fosse neck”… too funny. I loved it – maybe not for the humor but the memories. Liza was SPECTACULAR in “All That Jazz.” NOTE: She was on a recent episode of cooking with Paula Deen. That was too bizarre of a juxtaposition for me to watch. Liza stated that she ‘always watches Paula cook.’ With that thought, how would “Liza turn on a stove” ?????

  15. Oh.my.

Thanks for the funny! Fosse neck. . .I’ll be chuckling about that all day.

  16. Does anyone here watch Arrested Development? Liza was one of my favorite characters on that show!

  17. Mary Kat's Mom says:

Mary Katherine and I are strange with you! It was just so funny!

  18. Well of course I loved it. You know who it reminded me of? Karen Walker from Will and Grace. On one episode they were walking through Central Park and suddenly Karen stops and says, “Am I outside again?” Hi-larious.

  19. that Kristin Wigg….she is a delight, isn’t she? so so funny!!

  20. Jennifer says:

Oh, thank you for sharing this. I had fallen asleep before this, and I would have never known. But, puh-lease tell me you saw her do the one where she was Ann Margret trying to throw away a piece of trash (“Let’s do this!”).

  21. Kristin Wiig is a gem! I saw Jonah Hill on Jay Leno last night. He is so funny. They showed a clip of the two of them “backstage” at SNL talking about how he had been nominated for an Oscar. And then she said she had been nominated too. And then they went back and forth! It was really funny!

  22. This cracked us up! I have a *slight* obsession with anything Kristen does. I just know I’ll meet her one day and we can have a “Penelope Off” or clap with baby doll hands.

  23. This reminds me of the old sketch “Leg Up” with Molly Shannen and Cheri Oteri. Did you ever see that? Oh, my goodness. Go watch it right now. I just Googled it and watched it again. Thanks for the laugh.

  24. Oh, I am so strange with you! I am in love with Kristen Wiig. I want her to be my bff. She is amazing and that skit is hilarious! Have you seen the Target Lady with Justin Timberlake. Here’s the link: (PS you won’t regret watching this!) http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/target/1099564

  25. Corinna says:

Oh! My! Word!! That was hysterical! I too fell asleap and missed it :( isnt she the funniest?? And then I read what Shellie wrote about the baby doll hands and just about piddled myself! Thanks for the chuckles girl! You know you rock right??
