Now I know full well that winter weather is not all the way behind us – there is even talk of ice and whatnot later this week in Alabama – but seeing as how it is March 1 and that means NO MORE FEBRUARY (hallelujah), I think it makes perfect sense to turn our attention to one of spring / summer’s most wondrous creations.
The Linen Blend Pull-on Pant from Old Navy.
Oh, y’all. I love these pants. I had four colors until I snagged my gray pair on a nail. So I now I only have three except I just ordered two more which means I’ll be up to 5 for spring ’15. And lest you think I’m crazy for having 5 different colors of the same style pants, let me just stress to you that THESE PANTS ARE A DELIGHT AND A JOY. I actually put mine in the dryer, and since they’re not 100% linen, they don’t need to be ironed (unless you’re a little obsessive about ironing, in which case you can iron to your heart’s content). I wear mine to work, to church, to coffee, to the grocery store, to baseball games, to hang out at home – you name it.
So. I don’t know if you like a wide-legged pant or not, but if you do, I can’t recommend these enough. I had a 30% off coupon from Old Navy when I ordered mine, so even if you don’t have a coupon right this second, you know that Old Navy will email you one within about the next five minutes. Or maybe it’ll take a couple of days. But still. Old Navy loves a coupon.
I ordered the chambray (which I’ve wanted forever but they were out of stock) and the black, by the way. I’m beside myself with kicky wide-legged excitement.
Who knew that the return of the Linen-Blend Pull-on Pants would make March 1st so much fun?
(I might be slightly overexcited about this wide-legged development.)
(However, I make no apologies considering that skinny jeans / pants make my legs look like tree trunks.)
(It’s good to be clear about skinny jean limitations.)
Happy Pants, everybody!

I’ve been wondering about these when you mentioned them last year….what kind of shoes do you wear with them?
Going to try these on tomorrow!
And praise and hallelujah, they’re offered in tall sizes!! The only thing worse than too-short pants on us tall girls is too-short wide legged pants! Gimme a rope belt and a can of whitewash and I’ll go fix up Aunt Becky’s fence fer ya!!
And now there’s coffee on my monitor.
Tonight one of the H-town weather guessers on TV said WE! MIGHT! HAVE! A! WINTRY! MIX! sometime this week!
However, I know Spring is coming because when I lifted my eyes to the top of the pine trees this morning I saw clusters of yellow pollen just waiting to rain down on that wintry mix and show it who’s boss!
Thanks for the pant info; going to try them out.
I’m all about the wide leg. They are much more flattering than the skinny jean. Why would I try to put my not skinny self into a skinny jean. It just doesn’t make sense.at.all. thanks for the heads up. I’ll have to go try these on.
I am going to need to hug your neck or make you a pie to thank you for this. Just what I needed to see on another dreary morning.
The pants! I’m ordering some today. If you’re 5’4″… petite for length? I’ll be wearing flats because I never learned how to walk in heels!
If you’re wearing flats, then I’d probably order the petite. I’m 5’6″ but always have on a wedge, so I wear the regular. The regulars graze the floor on me when I wear flats (but I don’t mind the floor grazing). :-)
Thx! When I grow up I want to be 5’6″ and wear wedges. We have a mutual friend, Lea Margaret, and she says you’re just as wonderful as you appear on my computer screen.
http://thedomesticlady.com/2015/02/27/retail-therapy-its-all-about-the-base-aka-pants/ I got so excited about the pantsthat I am giving away two pairs of pants on my blog this week. #sisterswithbigcalvesunite
I ordered 2 pair of these last year on your recommendation. GLORY HALLELUJAH they are divine!
Do these come in plus size ?
These look like winners! Wider legs are also kinder than skinny jeans to those of us with bowed legs.
God bless a wide legged pant. Forever and ever amen. Ordering at least 2 of these.
I just ordered me a new pair last week! They shipped today so hopefully I will have them to wear this weekend!
Did you take these words right out of my mouth? Because I FEEL THE SAME WAY. I had 3-4 pairs last year. I’ve already gotten one pair this year, because I wanted to ensure they are the same, and they are! So, I’m heading over right now to get a few more! I also took a chance on the more straight, capri ones- not my fave, but I’ll wear them….when these wide leg ones are dirty.
I’m all about a wide leg pant too. No skinny jeans for these chubby calves. But, please tell me how do you manage that foldover waist. When I wear something with a foldover waist, it seems that along with accentuating my, um, waist, it also wants to roll up and i find myself adjusting it all day long, which kind of negates the free and easy feeling of wide legs. Other than doing some crunches, any words of wisdom here?
I’m intrigued by these pants, and ever-so-hopeful to find something flattering and comfortable. Do they run big/small? And after they come out of the dryer, had they shrunk? Thanks, Sophie!
These look fabulous. I have lived in total rebellion of the tight jeans/pants. I’ve even refrained from wearing boots because of it. These chicken legs need room to breathe. Jeggings? No, thank you. But I must get these.
Thanks for the info.
Sincerely,
Big Calfed Girls 👍
Hey- don’t know if you’re familiar with jane.com ? It’s a daily deal site that I’ve recently discovered and sometimes they have linen pants that look just like the ON ones, but in colors ON never has! They have some listed today if you want to look :)
K
I remember you writing about these pants last year. Based on all the reviews, I just ordered four pairs. :)
I am ordering two pair today! I cannot handle skinny jeans and am so happy to see these comfy looking pants.
Can you post some pics of you in the pants? I’m curious how you style them. Also curious how the sizes run since Old Navy seems to run small in a lot of things.
Ordered these pants. They arrived yesterday. I put them on today. I will now order EVERYTHING…sight unseen…that you recommend. Can pants change your life?! Love them!!
I have never in my life commented on a blog, but if ever there was a time to break the silence, it would be about a wide leg pant success story. I ordered two pairs and my thunder thighs are clapping for them! Thank you so much for the recommendation! You’ve MADE my spring/summer wardrobe. Thanks, friend. (And P.S. I never accidentally talk out loud to you and Melanie while I’m listening to the podcast as if we’re all on the phone together. Because that would just be weird…)
