Toni emailed me this, and I had to share.

Maybe I’ll try this tactic in Walmart later this afternoon….

  1. THAT is too perfect! Yes! Yes! Yes! Why can’t we model good behavior with such abandon! It’s a quick, easy lesson–just show them what they are doing!

    Thanks for sharing this video.

    Diane

P.S. Don’t hurt yourself though in Walmart!

  2. LOVE IT!!!!! That made my day! Now if I can just get up the nerve to try it! : )

  3. Love it! Need the laugh!!

  4. I watched that about four times before sending it to you. Just watched it again (as if it’ll be different on your blog) and I’m STILL laughing. My sister said she did that (shy of hitting the floor) in the mall once.

  5. ha! yes! I remember seeing this once. I wish I were brave enough to do that too when my daughter tries to get her way.

  6. Been there, done that! Never in public though! Sheesh, that was funny.

  7. Who knows – it might just work.

    Happy shopping!
    Cas

  8. WHAT A HOOT!!!!!!!!!

I think I’ll try this on my 12 and 14-year-old kids. Maybe if I give ’em a little of their own medicine they’ll get the point.

    ….or not.

  9. How on earth did they capture me on video?

  10. If you do will you make sure someone video’s it OR at the least takes pics? ;) too funny LOL xoxo melzie

  11. LOVE IT!!!!! thanks

  12. LOLOLOL, I could just picture you doing that too!!! Oh my word that is hallarious, Ill bet it would work too.

  13. LOVE IT!!! I should try that sometime too!

  14. OH MY WORD! That was awesome!!! That felt very theraputic. I think I’ll bookmark this under the title of “Before you wring their precious little necks, please watch!” :-)

  15. I love it. I’m very tempted…

  16. OH!!! LOL!

  17. I love the look the mom gives to the son right after she hops up from the floor. Moms really can say it all with just the eyes sometimes.

  18. out of lurkingville to say that is too funny.

It works. I haven’t done it in Walmart, but in the car and at home.

I have contemplated it at Walmart, but have excercised some self control.

  19. I think if it really worked, we’d all do it.

    And that would be better?

  20. That. Was. Awesome.

  21. How did you get video of me??? I had no idea I was being filmed! :o)

  22. Oh, I wish she would shop with me and the kids. I’m sure my kids would love her–not, but I would. :)

  23. That is most glorious. I’ve done it at home, but not in public so far. :)

  24. I’ve done it at home, both a tantrum and whining when I don’t get my way. I must say that it really gets through to them.

  25. Be sure to send us your pictures from Walmart. That is too good!!

  26. My good laugh for the day! Came at a perfect time too, I’ve got both kiddos crying at once . .. headache to boot.
Guess I better go break things up now that I’ve enjoyed my selfish moment!
    Thanks for sharing!!!!
    :-)

  27. So when you try it out, will you record it for You Tube and share it with us? ‘Cause I’m dying to see that one!!!
    :)

  28. Big Sam is watching. So, if you are going to have a hissy, be sure it is for something good like fabric softener. :>)))

  29. Oh, that is too funny! I can’t wait to show it to my kiddos.

  30. Hilarious!

  31. Boomama..great video. I have been reading your blog for a few months. My dear friend, Susan(Nashville)(a sorority sister of yours) sent me the link. Anyway, I’m commenting to ask you about something. A dear friend of mine will be in your town this weekend. Her husband is interviewing for a fellowship. Can you email me at myrickdf@yahoo.com with a few areas of towns that you would recommend they look at for housing. They are looking for 3-4 bedrooms/large kitchen/molding, etc. Thanks so much. :) I LOVE your blog.

  32. Is it just me or does that look a tad bit like Shalee , or maybe Addie?
Nah, neither of them would do anything like that would they?! :D

  33. Oh my that was good. I think I may even need a cigarette now. I am of course, kidding. =)

  34. LOL I’m laughing so hard. I should try that sometime. The kids would be so embarassed!
Thanks so much for the laugh. That was great!!

  35. Okay. It was funny. But you have to watch this thing on dialup. Cuz it freezes up and catches some seriously funny shots.

  36. I laughed out loud! Hilarious!!!

    Thank you for sharing!

  37. That is hilarious! I needed that! If you give it a go, let us know how it goes! Ha ha!

  38. That’s great…..don’t you that if you try that in Wal-Mart it would turn out to be the day that everyone who you know is there….

  39. BBBWWWAAAAHHHHHAAAAHHHHHAAAA! It’s a good thing I’m not drinking anything or it would’ve been snorted out of my nose while watching that video clip!

I’m remembering this tactic for future use. :)

  40. That is too funny! I’ve never tried it myself, but I have so been tempted.

  41. I DARE YOU! I DOUBLE-DOG DARE YOU!

(which Walmart will you be at?) ;)

  42. I’ve seen that before, it is great. You know (Not to sound like a know-it-all) but child psychology teaches the best way to improve that sort of behavior is to actually mirror their actions. If they say something mean to you, you simply repeat it. By hearing exactly what they just said they understand better what they’ve done. Interesting, no? (This coming from the childless crazy woman…I’ll shut up now) :-) Hope you’re having a grand ‘ol weekend!

  43. ROFL!! Thanks for sharing it!!

  44. Now that’s a Mom after my own heart!

  45. I’ve done it. Honestly. Not throwing myself on hthe ground but countering every scream, whine, and cry with my own. It’s great. The kids just look at you completly befuddled then start laughing. The best part is that they forget what they were whining/crying/screaming about. It works really well with tattling as well. :) Not the greatest example of a Christ like atitude but it really make sthem sit up and notice that it ISN’T Christ-like. The tyical response is emberassment, laughter , and then, “Mo-oommm, WHAT ARE you doing?!?!?!” “Imitating you.” Usually nips it in the bud.

  46. Nice! :)

  47. Oh my goodness… I think I’m going to try this the next time I’m at Walmart with my kids!!
