He’s SO Over Larry Boy Now

I bought Alex a costume today at Target when we were killing time during the Open House, and he put it on as soon as we got home.

Since the moment he changed clothes, he will only answer to “Mr. Incredible” or “Dash.”

You can see that even Mr. Incredible needs his trusty V-Tech computer, because I think we all know that V-Tech computers are the computing tool of choice for superheroes.

Well, at least for superheroes who are three.

Alex – er, I mean – Mr. Incredible wanted to put on the costume again when he got out of the tub tonight, but I think there’s some rule in the Official Guide to Motherhood about how children need to sleep in fabric that actually, you know, breathes.

I feel pretty confident about what his outfit of choice is going to be tomorrow, though.

And don’t worry – I will not be donning a similarly-styled garment because 1) I care about the psychological well-being of others and 2) I can’t justify putting my c-section stomach flap in 100% nylon unless there’s some form of control-top panel involved. And even then it’s really iffy.

Also, this is my 500th post.

I haven’t even been blogging a year.

I feel this indicates some form of sickness.

  2. Well who cares about Larry Boy when you can be Dash? He is about the cutest of the cute. :)

Are you sure you don’t want to be Mrs. Incredible?

  3. I still wanna see him with Super Suction Ears!!

  4. Happy 500 :) and OH ADORABLE lil incrediboy. I love that movie (isnt there a sequel in the works?) xoxo melzie

  5. Well, he is very cute…but I hope he’s not really over Larry Boy. You just can’t get over Larry Boy so quick like that. Larry Boy rules!!!

500 in less than a year? I concur…you have a sickness. But, I must say, you’re very good at it!

  6. I’ve been blogging for over two years and I just wrote post #472 tonight.

    You scare me.

But at least your kid is cute.

    ;-)

  7. If you’re sick, that means we’re all enablers. Hello, I’m Diane, and I’m a blogaholic. I had my last fix…well, actually, right now. ;-)

My 200th post is approaching and I’ve been blogging since January 2006.

I think there will be much mileage from the Dash/Mr. Incredible costume. Oh yes, I do. :-)

  8. He is too cute. I have a feeling he would get along great w/ my 3 yo. Since Aug he has be one superhero or another…I have to ask him “Who are you today?” Superman, Batman, Green Latern… Thanks to his 2 older brothers there are plenty of costumes to play the parts.

    BTW…so glad you blog…you’re hilarious!

  9. Ahhh, excellent choice of costumes! “The Incredibles” rocks!

  10. I feel the grandmother in me about to come out…

Long, long ago, my son did the same thing with the Incredible Hulk. Only his name was the “‘Credibee Hult” since he really couldn’t pronounce it well enough. Cherish these memories, Ms. Boo! They’ll make great blackmail material later on in life…

    Happy 500!

  11. So, what happens after 300? I don’t see an “edit posts” option for more than that and it makes me nervous. I’m on 230, so not too much time! Ah!

  12. Alex looks so cute!
Congratulations on your 500th post. I personally hope that there will be many more.
My kids are hopeing to move to a country that celebrates Halloween, as in Australia it is not common. It looks like so much good family fun time.

  13. I remember the first time we watched that movie Dawson got FURIOUS with us because we refused to change his name to Dash.

  14. Hope that outfit is washable and dries quickly. :>) I feel a little safer now that we have a true superhero on our side. Sweet.

  15. How does it feel to be the mother of a superhero? Adorable!

  16. Adorable picture. What a little ham!

  17. Why don’t you go as Edna? That wig would be killer! And you could talk with that great accent! And post a picture on your blog so we all could see….

Does he run as fast as Dash or just seem to?

  18. Numero 500? Wow! Welcome to the rest of the blogaholics! And, Incredible boy, Larry boy, whatever…he’s going to be the cutest Halloween-er in the South! (That didn’t sound so good sorry) :)

  19. Yes, now that you mention it he does look an awful lot like that Dash character. So cute!

  20. 500? Congrats! I don’t even know what # I’m on anymore. Not close to 500 I promise you that.

And Mr. Incredible? I have a pretty cute 4 1/2 yr old Mrs. Incredible that would like to meet him! =)

  21. My son wants to wear his Spiderman costume every day. Curse my mom for buying it so damn early! Every day! Even to church, the grocery store, school. Oh dear God! How many more days until Halloween?

  22. What a doll- maybe Dash should grab the VTech and blog “500 things I love about ‘My Sweet Thing'” for us.

That would be worth reading :)

  23. Your Mr. Incredible is incredibly cute!!
My son has the p.j.’s. loves to sleep in them. Our son has a thing for spiderman, first it was spiders…then of course on to spiderman. We took him to see the 2nd movie (walked him out of the violent parts..we did prescreen it) and he wore his costume. He was disappointed when we got to the car that he hadn’t cause a commotion with everyone pointing and asking if it were really spiderman…guess he didn’t realize spiderman is not 3 ft. something…it was enlightening to find out what he is thinking. I assured him I heard people whispering as we passed..this pleased him to no end.
happy 500 post!!! I hope you keep writing, I enjoy getting my fix..er, reading…
