The Email, It Is A-Changin’

I am happy to announce that after eight months of fighting with cable internet service that is super-duper fast as long as no one else in our neighborhood happens to be using it at the same time, which, let’s face it, NEVER HAPPENS, we finally have DSL again.

And as a result of our return to steady, reliable connection speeds, my email address has changed.

I’ll change it in the sidebar just as soon as I post this, but for those of you who don’t email me using the link in the sidebar, you may want to make a note in your address book or contacts folder or on a random slip of paper that also contains a partial grocery list, a recipe for roasted chicken, and the time and date of your next dental appointment.

It’s boomama205ATbellsouthDOTnet.

I would not recommend spelling out “at” and “dot” if you use the email address. Because then it won’t work.

In which case we will not be able to communicate very effectively.

  1. After having the same issue over and over again, the DH and I have just gone w/a web-based e-mail provider–GMAIL!! FREE, tons of space, and the security is REALLY good!

  2. We like our DSL, too. We also love gmail. I’ll change your addy in my list, dear Boo. You are my sure reason for a chuckle every day. Thanks!

  3. Must be regional or company based or something, ’cause we switched to DSL for six months of nothing but problems, and then went back to cable modem immediately. :) Glad you have everything back up!

  4. I guess I’m lucky cause I have cable internet, but it runs great. Guess nobody in my neighborhood has it. ha ha.

I just love your blog :)

    Ok, and you too :)

  5. So are you saying that when we type in your email correctly, we WILL be able to communicate effectively?

Well. I’m not sure I want to improve our communication. I like all the madhap, funny things that we send to each other and our countless phone tags…

  6. Since you’re a fellow WordPress user, I feel compelled to recommend the cforms plugin. You can use it to add a contact form to any page, or in your sidebar. That way, people can still contact you without you having to make your email address totally public. It is also very easy to set up and maintain, and if you email address ever changes, you just change it in the plugin configuration. It’s REALLY easy.

Why should you do this? Well, because “robots” crawl websites looking for mailto: links like the one you have, and then they add the addresses they find to their database and… viola! SPAM City, Utah. With the cforms contact form there is a verification question (super simple to set up) that prevents non-humans from submitting the form. I have it set up on my blog, and I have yet to receive a SPAM message from it.

You can see it in action here, at the bottom of the sidebar.

Well, since my work here is done I guess I’ll get back to my uber-manly political and religious blogs. Sorry for the interruption. :)

  7. Clemntine says:

I’m wondering about BooMamas 1 through 204. Whoda thunk there’d be so many?

  8. Well now that was easy enough!

Course it may take days for any type of communication to arrive cause this chick is still dial up and our messages arrive by way of the crow. LOL

Must be “them there woods” surrounding us! :0)

  9. DSL rocks. Everything else is for the dark ages….well, IF they had computers.

  10. First Chilihead comes out of the closet, and not this.

Don’t you realize I’M! SICK !PEOPLE!

I can take only so much.

  11. (Note to self – when trying to be overly dramatic and sarcastic, spell check is immensely helpful).

    *ahem*

First Chilihead comes out of the closet, and now this.

Don’t you realize I’M! SICK !PEOPLE!

I can take only so much.

    (Bueller …….. bueller)

  12. Okay, so I just started reading a few days ago, and you are one funny woman. I’m pretty sure that we would be friends in real life. Thanks for making me laugh!

  13. Okay, Emmy and I got the message. New email addy address noted and changed. :-)

Love my DSL and (hope I’m not jynxing myself) rarely have any problems with it in the almost 2 years I’ve had it.

    Love and hugs,

    Diane

  14. Oh how I love BellSouth instead of Charter. Welcome back to DSL.

    Email change noted! :D

  15. ok – I get the “205” modifier in the e-mail but does that mean there is truly an e-mail in existence that is just boomama@…..

    Who’da thunk it?

  16. I have never had the pleasure of cable internet, living out in the country. Our DSL is fine, but I would love something a little faster. Too many blogs to read!

  17. Everyone else is interested in your type of internet access or how many BooMamas there are, but I have to admit I laughed out loud about the slip of paper containing dental appointments, grocery lists, a recipe and now, your email address. You have me (and my purse) pegged! :)

  18. DSL is great- never go the route of cable- mine always seemed to go out at least once a week. Congrats on beign back to the high-speed world.

  19. BooMama,

So funny that I happened to find you. I’m a BooMama, too, but in a different way. I have a cat named Boo and, in a strange way, am her “mama”.

I’ve loved reading your blog, live in the Pacific NW (where we have our own vernacular), and work at a University where I am a graphic designer.

    God Bless you!
    From one BooMama to another
    :-D

  20. Well, you’re represent-n’ aren’t ya?! Reuben would be proud! ha ha!

  21. OK, I just learned how to change an email address on our new email account. Woohoo!

I used to know how to do all of this say about 16 years ago…you know, in the dark ages.
    Blessings,
    holly

  22. New email noted. Thanks for sharing!

Okay, so I’m hosting a Sauce recipe exchange today and I’d really love to get some tried and true sauce recipes from all you Southern women out there.

Can ya help a Yankee out? :)

  23. O! now that sounds like it is going to be much better……….please think of me I write this as the computer here whirls away at a great 31.2kbps (YES WE STILL CAN ONLY GET DIALUP)

It has been lovely visiting you today after many months abscent.

    best wishes to you. Lee-ann

  24. We’re going back to DSL also, mainly because of our disdain for TimeWarner and their media monopoly don’t-get-me-started. You’re right about cable internet. It can be lightning fast or slower then molasses in January.

  25. I’m sure you just heard that sigh of relief coming at you from the Washington, D.C. area — no, its not the politicians … it’s me. Because every time I try to email you, it bounces back as undeliverable, daggon it!

So now, I can send you emails like, “Hi!” or “How ya doin?” or “Will you be my new BFF?” Or … yeah, you probably don’t want to see my name pop up in your in box, huh?

  26. Good to know about the email change or I would start to wonder. By the way I’m going to guess that your name is either Sarah or Samatha and Big Mama is either Melanie or Melissa. Just a guess.
